I do not have enough nice things to say about this Law Firm. They were professional, kind, sympathetic, responsive, kept me informed and did their job well. They walked with me through every step of this process and some of the processes were so invasive and hard to discuss, but they guided me through hell and helped me come out on the other side. To give you a little background, my husband passed away in 2022 and to say I was less than pleased with the work done by the funeral home is a drastic understatement. I had called a few other attorneys before settling on the De la Garza Law Firm, and I am so happy to have found them. They took a case, other attorneys did not want to touch. They were persistent in their pursuit of justice for me and my family. It took over two years but they never waivered. If you want an excellent attorney and you live in Texas, I highly recommend De la Garza Law Firm.

PROFESSIONAL MIS-CONDUCT DETERMIED BY STATE BAR OF TEXAS - see photo - Sub-par at best - Rafael was hired to represent me in a funeral home negligence case. The contract was signed 11/9/21 - This was a 40/60 contingency case. The original petition was not filed until 3/14/22. 4 months later. It took a year for him to get a court date and two years to figure out that the defendant did not have insurance. Once he found this out, he was very slothful with the case. Furthermore, after finding this out, rather than representing me in deposition, he had his sister do so. Frankly, other than emails I never spoke with Rafael after the initial consultation when he was eager to get me under contract. Previous to this, as part of the process it I had asked a question regarding the law for funeral homes to maintain insurance. He assured me it was not legal, when I asked him if it wasnt legal then why did the TX Funeral Service not find this - he then deferred to an expert and advised me that in fact they (funeral homes) in TX are not required to carry insurance. As an attorney representing funeral home negligence cases in said state, I would expect any attorney to be knowledgeable about basic facts. The case continued. After I requested a continuance, he asked to withdraw which I agreed to as I had not been pleased with his representation. However, when he withdrew he did not advise me that I would be bare and a per se litigant. Additionally there were several other areas when he was not competent and or missed important and relevant details. Although there was no insurance, there was no attempt to ascertain assets, or even file a Lis Pendens (preventing the defendant from disposing of assets during the duration of the case. Hes quick to get you under contract but thats about the only thing hes quick with, except divesting efforts when there is not big insurance policy. Id like to think that 2 years is an excessive amount of time to determine there is no insurance. In my experience, when you do a service you want to be clear about how you get paid. Highly dissatisfied.

Long story short, my husband s immigration case has gone on for 2 years now, a process the lawyer said would take 3-4 months. I have evidence showing the lack of ambition to get the case processed. I paid and signed for documents to be submitted to USCIS in May 2020, the lawyer signed September 2020 and that same day USCIS received them. And the only 2 times I ve ever seen the actual lawyer was when I paid the first payment and today when I went down to the office for a copy of all my paperwork which they wanted to charge for every single paper. And I get it you are a business, but you would think at least notify the client before not just tell them oh yes we will have all the paperwork ready for you . I don t want to even get into the details of how respectful he is. Yelling at me in the lobby because I m upset and letting him know facts about our case. If you, as a lawyer couldn t handle the case or don t know how to process immigration request, then you would think let me refer you to a friend or let me seek help from someone who does know. I regret hiring this law firm and wasting 2 years of our lives. WOULD HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND!

Our experience with Rafael has been great. Our first case with him involved an accident my wife was in. Not only was her therapy and car repairs paid in full but he got a good amount cash in our pockets. Years later we had a water leak in our home while on vacation. I was completely clueless as to how to proceed with the damage in my home. He quickly referred us to a water mitigation company and got the insurance to pay for 3 months worth of stay at a hotel. He was straightforward with us regarding the amount of that this type of case takes. The insurance only offered us $2k even though the damages were in excess of $60k. Rafael was able to get us an amount that not only covered the repairs but left us with more enough money to replace the whole plumbing in our home. I would refer Rafael to anyone in a heartbeat. His communication and honesty make him a great attorney.
