Cashier definitely needs to be humbled. Never have I ever experienced such awful service in a local Mcallen restaurant. Just a thought, you work in a CUSTOMER SERVICE ROLE. As in your job is literally to be nice. Then yall complain you don t get tips. Good luck with y all s business tho. Nasty smart attitudes aren t cute especially when you re grown.

Me and my boyfriend had an anniversary dinner and the waitress was so accommodating and sweet with us, including bring paper plates and knives to cut the cake, and a lighter for the candle. She even offered to take a photo for us. I felt so bad because we didn t realize the restaurant had closed but everybody was patient and gracious. Amazing food, amazing staff!!

The food was good... The service was horrible. We got there and were given a table... took a while until someone came over to take our order. We told the waiter that we were going to make an order to-go... and the guy looked at us like we had just given him some bad news..... He said that we had to go up to the counter to make that type of order.... as though he couldnt just take our simple order and turn it in.??! I mean... when it comes out, put it in a box instead of on a tray. ! My God.... its not rocket science! Okay... I let it slide. The low IQ waiter then told us it would take about 20 minutes.... which I thought was a little too long.... But okay... ( strike 2 ) .... Well, ( long story short )... it took FOURTY MINUTES to get a PIZZA.!. All the while.. some semi-bald guy walking around in T-shirt and shorts whom I think is either manager or owner, never bothered to ask how we were doing even though he KNEW we had been waiting there for a long while..... Like I said, pizza was good.... But not worth the wait. Never going again. P. S. to the low IQ waiter and beach bum owner/manager,... go find work somewhere else.

The service was good but the food was just mediocre. The place is pretty outdated but you can tell it generates a lot of regulars which good for them! My pasta looked beautiful but again flavor was just ok. The calamari and fried mushrooms were a no. Felt like it went straight from a bag to a fryer. I really wanted to enjoy it more than I did.

This pizza was terrible, and anyone who thinks its good must believe DiGiorno is gourmet. Ive never felt so ripped off in my life. When I asked the manager if anything was frozen, he got defensive and denied it, but little did he know I had asked the waiter and the waiter admitted the cheese was. Instead of addressing my concerns, the manager started bragging about his job history, saying hed been making pizzas since he was twelve. I told him I had been eating pizza since I was three, and this was the worst Id ever had. Its infuriating when managers are so defensive they indirectly accuse you of lying. I m glad I ended the conversation by telling him it was a horrible tasting pizza. Oh and his only resolution was for the next time; if I went back again, which we won t.

Walked in and nobody greeted me or attend us. waited more than 15 minutes without being acknowledged. Another customer who already ordered was ignored when he tried to grab the attention of the server. He had to walk up to the cash register to the person who was playing on his phone the whole time, clearly not caring about customers or anything job related. Today I visited this place with my family, the food was delicious. I really liked its terrace since I arrived, thats why we prefer to eat there; I dont know if that choice was what caused the service to be so delayed, although I dont think so because there werent that many people. What another amazing meal we had today here. The calamari is cooked perfectly and not rubbery like so many restaurants make. Our waiter Roberto who we had at our first visit was attentive and gave good recommendations for my husband who was deciding between two different choices. My muscles with linguine was so delightful that I was tempted to drink the sauce. We love that you can dine outside. We will definitely come back again during our winter here.

This is the 3rd time coming to this location and the past 2 previous times, the service was better, and the food temperature hotter. It wasnt busy maybe like 2 other tables. I received my plate, and some portion of the food was hot and some cold or less then warm. My husband had a spicy Italian calzone, but it wasnt spicy, and the marinara sauce on the side was cold. They didnt offer refills as his was completely empty. They did offer a cup to go but declined cause we were already done eating. We hope to come back to give it another chance.

Was difficult for me to order. Entrées have a lot of fancy names. I ended up getting stuffed shells but it had no meat sauce and was stuffed with ricotta cheese. Too much cheese and no meat sauce! We had to ask for someone to serve us, when they finally came Roberto only brought drinks. We waited another 30 minutes before returning our menus. Horrible experience. It was my first time at this place. Everything started out great. Waiter took our order. Drinks were brought out, then our appetizers followed....after that Everything went down hill. An hour passed by and still no pizza. Our waiter came by and informed us that our order was given to another table...and that our food would be out in a few minutes. Another 10 minutes went by and still no food.. We decided to leave. The manager never came by to apologize. I was so disappointed by the utter lack of care from management. They gave us no apology or accommodations for the inconvenience. I have visited mamas pizzeria for a good 20 years...Steve (owner) has always been on top of his kitchen and staff to always offer a great customer experience with great tasting italian food.... Food is fresh and very tasty...diner area is big enough, outside eating available surrounded by a superbly well kept garden and perfectly trimmed St Augustine grass... Staff is courteous and are attentive to clientele... Prices are really reasonable despite the high quality menu.... I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting mcallen Texas. Superb food in pictures....and 2 drinks was 50$....not bad at all... Mike

Mamas if my comfort place to eat. We just love to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the atmosphere. The food is always so delicious and the service is good all the time. Best salads in town in my opinion. The firecracker crackers are so tasty one of my favorite things to order is the Tortalini. If your looking for great Italian food stop going to the mainstream on what people mistake Italian food to be and go by Mamas and see what good authentic Italian yummy goodness is all about! Update: 11/3/23 Went again cause I wanted chicken Parm. Food was very good, and a lot. Service was good and place was clean. No compliments. I ordered Mama special which has chicken Parm, lasagna, and fettuccine alfredo. My parents had a large pizza pepperoni and jalapenos with a stromboli. Brought my parent to this place to try it out. My dad had Stromboli my mom had chicken salad and I had lasagna and we ordered also a large pepperoni pizza to try out. And let me tell you everything was all great. Super awesome atmosphere! Great food, it was amazing and super unique flavors to everything. The pastas are amazing! This manager has the worst attitude and I m a paying customer. Took 15 minutes to get refills as I see her talking to other tables that weren t in her section. When I asked for the check she slammed it on the table and rolled her eyes when I asked for to go boxes. We were speaking Spanish and quickly told us she was not responding back in Spanish. Horrible place to crowded and waitress take forever to assist you. Top of that we found a fly on our food asked to re do it and didnt even bother to apologize or even discount anything on our order. Dont even know how this place still up and running.

This establishment discriminates Runners for the food delivery company FAVOR for no reason at all by denying service for pick up over the phone. All runners gladly pay over the phone with many establishments, but why Mamas Pizzerias acts like this is beyond my understanding. If I were to lie to them and say its a personal order, then they do accept the payment over the phone, but for Runners on Favor, they dont. Im not positive, but I would assume they would also do this to other delivery couriers. I just dont get it... what? Mamas Pizzeria is not grateful for our service to deliver? If they lost all the income / revenue we delivery companies bring into them, they would suffer greatly. Unacceptable!!!!

We really enjoyed our experience here. We were looking for a dog-friendly dining spot that wasnt a bar or pub. This is perfect. They welcome dogs on their patio area which is fully covered. They will bring the dog water. The staff is friendly and efficient, they dont rush you and are knowledgeable about the menu. Best thing: the food is delicious! Attractively served, cooked to perfection and nice portions. Very nice wine list. Were looking forward to our next visit! Dietary restrictions: They appear to have many options which would satisfy those with dietary restrictions. Its a very extensive menu. Parking: It is a busy area, but there is both lot and street parking.

Today, when I tried to order over the phone for pickup they told me I must make payment over the phone before I could place an order. I have never had to do this before with them and Ive been able to pay when I pickup. The person over the phone insisted I must pay over the phone. I asked to speak to the manager and he said that he was the manager (Roberto). He also told me theyve had problems so they are requiring payment. This isnt my first poor experience with their customer service. Ive had it with them and I will never again support their business.

Was craving pizza and this was the top result on a Google search. It was right. Service was good and so was the food. It was a nice evening so I sat outside. For an appetizer I ordered the wings with Chicago sauce. Tasted like a sweet Buffalo sauce. Really good. Ordered the Chicago style deep dish with pepperoni, sausage, and jalapeños. The menus says the deep dish takes 30 minutes to make, but it was worth it. I ve eaten deep dish at all the official places in Chicago. This place tasted very similar. Sweetish, crunchy crust. Tons of cheese. Only complaint was the wait. It took way longer than 30 minutes and they brought the appetizer out at the same time. Makes me think it was forgotten. Overall a really good pizza place.

I had the rigatoni with meatballs and the pasta was a bit hard, the meatballs had no flavor, also we try the pepperoni pizza which it was ok, crust/dough lacked flavor, compared to other similar restaurants. Service was very slow, maybe because it was mothers day, our server only took our drinks and appetizers order, we had to asked another waitress to get our order. Good thing we had the check as soon as we asked for it.

It s good I like their appetizers just heads up they charge credit card fee even when you pay cash its CC Fee on receipt . A lot of restaurants are doing this now, always ask for receipt!

Well, the place looks interesting, but I stood waiting to be seated or acknowledged, and I never was. One of the waitresses passed me a number of times, but when people came in after me, the waitresses stopped and assisted them right away. So I walked out and left.

1st time coming here and our experience was absolutely horrible! We arrived at 630 and finally left at closing when our food came out. Once it was time to pay my buddies card was accidentally charged 3 times for a total of $360.00 which put a hold on his card. When we told the waiters they gave us the run around and said they couldn t refund us. The owner was there and said the same thing. He couldn t refund but he said it ll roll over?? And once it rolled over he d cut him a check for the money he owed ???? Slow service, waiters giving attitude and over charging us will never go back. Wish I could rate zero stars because that s what this place deserves. Also was promised a comped meal cause it was made wrong yet we were charged for both meals.

We ordered a deep dish pizza the lady lets us know it takes awhile for the deep-dish. It did take awhile to get it and we wouldnt have minded that except the pie was only warm on the inside not hot at all. Kinda of a bummer

Tried de Mamas super deluxe, it was great but it was missing that special thing to make it perfect. The atmosphere was great as well as the personnel. Theres parking at the back of the restaurant but seems to me itll be hard to find during peak hours. Anyways, Id definitely go back to try something else!
