This is my favorite hotel in the valley. I come to visit McAllen pretty frequently and so far this has been my favorite. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Especially Joseph on the front desk - he always has a smile and a friendly conversation, and is all around very professional and kind. Even when Im checking in at 3 or 4 am, Joseph has a friendly smile and is very efficient. The rooms are always clean and cool. The pool and hot tubs are very well maintained as are the fitness room and laundry rooms. The morning breakfast is spot on for local breakfast (chorizo and eggs, nopalitos) as well as standard southern eats (biscuits and gravy). Everything here has been very clean. Ive now spent 9 nights here, over a span of 2 weeks and they havent let me down yet for comfort and cleanliness. Also, we always have with us, my husbands service dog, and they are always welcoming to her as she does her job. Rooms: Very clean. Well maintained. Soft bed and cool sheets. Furniture is very sturdy. A/c works amazingly well. Bathrooms are spotless with great lighting. Good water pressure. Safety: Ive never worried about the security of my room or my vehicle or my belongings.

First time staying at a Wyndham Hotel. Overall a good experience. Room was clean. Kids enjoyed the indoor & outdoor pools. The breakfast on Sunday was great! Migas with scrambled eggs, ham & scrambled eggs, mashed beans, oatmeal- very good, salsa, pancakes, waffle maker & some of the ususal continental style breakfast offerings. The eggs were fresh cooked and the beans were not canned which was a big plus! Only areas for improvement are- coffeemaker in the room did not work, most of the jets in the hot tubs (pool area) did not work & water was not very hot, and the room did not have a microwave oven. Safety: They have security officers onsite who do a great job. Our stay was quiet. Need hotel key to access/enter most of the building entry points. Requirement of hotel access key for elevators and doors to stairways would add additional security. Food and drinks: The breakfast on Sunday was great!

The bathroom toilet was dirty but otherwise nice big room! I booked the superior suite and there was enough room for 6 people comfortably maybe more if just kids. Couch also pulls into a bed. We moved three times before we got to sit and relax!! This was a very frustrating welcome and I have yet to hear from anyone..the first room the floor was so wet it was musty, second room the air conditioning was out and once again the room had an ugly smell and very musty, finally 3rd room was ok!!! I had higher hopes for this hotel as I have stayed in other properties with same name with better cleanliness. Cons: dirty entrance, elevator, and our room was a disaster. Room had 2 double queens- one queen had multiple hairs from previous guest throughout the bed, the other queen red stains on the comforter. Floor didn t look vacuumed or mopped. We found multiple little cockroaches (baby roaches or German ) in the bathroom around the toilet and one crawling on the vanity which disgusted my mother so much she didn t want to stay at all given that if one room has little roaches- the other ones will too. We have stayed in budget hotels in other parts of the USA and Europe and have NEVER come across roaches and this much dirtiness. Pros: the receptionist was quick to offer a refund on my non-refundable fare and apologized for how housekeeping didn t tend to the room as they should have. I know some hotels don t even offer to switch the room or allow refunds at all, so many thanks to the wonderful woman who went above and beyond to ensure we were refunded and able to find somewhere else to stay. We ended up going to the Radisson down the road with much better cleanliness in the lobby and room for a slight increase in pricing.

I didnt like the bedroom, debut and farewell, they tell you that they have a microwave and a safe, and my room didnt have any of those two things, apart from there being no hair dryer, my husband had to go to the reception to get one on the floor of the room. It was filthy and another in the room that is zero functional the furniture that is in the room with 1 drawer for 3 people to store the clothes I think it is not there father I mean there are compartments but you can see all the clothes and novelty father and literally I left the clothes in the suitcase

This hotel is awful. If you can sleep in your car instead of being here, I encourage you to do it. They lied to us with our reservation telling us we were getting a suite mind you, its a tiny room with a single bed, despite saying every room had a sofa-bed. I had to sleep on the floor because of them. Shower is filthy, and when I asked for a couple of blankets to sleep on the ground, they gave me the smallest one they could find and no pillows. Rooms: Small and way too expensive.

This is an older property, so dont let the pictures on line fool you. The hood is right behind it I asked for a poolside suite and had to pay extra And I can see the pool alright...but I can also see the hood messes it all up. The rooms are older, especially the tube. Cant say it was dirty thou. The pool is connected to the outside pool with nothing to stop the cold wind from coming in. Its the middle of February and you can get really sick like that They had both doors wide open. letting in the cold draft of air. It wasnt that cold yesterday, so I allowed my kids to swim inside for a little while. The breakfast area can use some reconstruction. We are here for a football tournament and so many others as well. So the breakfast line was hectic. They have one waffle maker with two buildings of guest. Ridiculous . Takes 230 to make a waffle, so imagine that. Yesterday, there was no meat today. About 20 sausage Pattys were put out. Biscuits and gravy. Apples banana cereal milk apple n orange juice .. no water. They have the silverware smack dead in the middle, so so many people had to walk thru the line just to get them. They havent been stingy with towels thou so thats a plus. Lots of places you can literally walk to eat.

Check in is at 3pm i arrived at 5pm to get ready for an event at 7 can t get you in a king size because staff is still cleaning gives me 2 queens together not what I reserved. November 2023 Wyndham Garden McAllen at La Plaza Mall exceeded my expectations as a guest. This little gem does not disappoint! Very clean and well maintained property. Close to the airport and offers shuttle service to the hotel. The service was outstanding in every aspect of my stay. The driver, Joe, was exceptional in his knowledge of the area as well as very welcoming. The Front Desk Supervisor(Alex) was very courteous and went out of his way to make sure that I had a clear understanding of all amenities that the property had to offer. He also answered all questions I had concerning my stay. Wonderful happy hour! The morning breakfast was fantastic and the staff was warm, friendly and kind. Such overall stellar customer service is a clear reflection of a great General Manager. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you find yourself in McAllen. Rooms: Very clean room and comfortable bed. Less than impressed for a Wyndham property. Had 3 rooms. All had to have their key cards replaced at least twice, one 4 times. The shower/tub in all the rooms drained so slowly that you had a half tub of water during your shower. In one room, the water was barely warm. The room phone didnt work, so I couldnt call the desk to tell them that none of the three rooms had hair dryers as listed for an amenity. They had to bring us the dryers. I believe our bathroom has mold above the door. The hot tubs were broken. The breakfast was okay. Parking was very tight 2 of the 4 nights. Staff at front desk was nice. Dont believe well return to this property. Walkability: Across the street from Simon shopping mall. Very good location for airport and freeway.

It is a hotel with a good location, the cleanliness of the room is good, except that most of the times we stay it smells very humid and the air conditioning is VERY noisy. We had to activate the alarm in the middle of the morning and it was super scary We must also emphasize that if you arrive very late at the hotel, it will be difficult to find parking because it gets very crowded. It is a good option if you only go 1-2 days, it meets what is required. The service is normal, nothing to highlight, neither positive nor negative. Nearby activities: Close to the mall, Old Navy, Taco Palenque and the center is a few blocks away.

Both guys looked annoyed to be there. Rap music with explicit lyrics played throughout the hotel. Apparently this hotel has a power issues since our room has not enough power in June 14 evening, but we went downstairs in June 15 morning to tell the power is off in our room and it was a breaker issue but they fixed the beaker by turning off and on and it s good now. What one looks for in a hotel is comfort and security. NO in security. They have no control over their parking and/or parking lot. Their parking lot fills up with people visiting the bar next door. If drunk people driving their vehicle all night around yours. The parking lot is filled with people from the bar and you can no longer find a place to park in front of the Hotel. They force you to park far away, without security, on the side of the street. Personally, this experience overshadows the good or bad service that could be given to you, it overshadows the good or bad that the facilities may have. The only thing I can think about is leaving my truck in a dark place, at the end of the parking lot, alone. If your stay is from Thursday to Sunday, look for another hotel. Safety: What one looks for in a hotel is comfort and security. NO in security. They have no control over their parking and/or parking lot. Their parking lot fills up with people visiting the bar next door. If drunk people driving their vehicle all night around yours. The parking lot is filled with people from the bar and you can no longer find a place to park in front of the Hotel. They force you to park far away, without security, on the side of the street. Personally, this experience overshadows the good or bad service that could be given to you, it overshadows the good or bad that the facilities may have. The only thing I can think about is leaving my truck in a dark place, at the end of the parking lot, alone. If your stay is from Thursday to Sunday, look for another hotel.

The hotel staff who assisted us were very friendly, the hotel has a good location although the parking lot is shared with a bar next door and it gets crowded at night which can be annoying; The breakfast is very well stocked although dont expect something super delicious, just something to start the day; There is free coffee (cold) all day at reception. The room was spacious and fine although it felt a little old and smelled musty, the mattress was comfortable and everything looked quite clean. One of the nights the fire alarm went off at 5 AM and it was a horrible scare. The hotel staff failed to give good instructions and reassure the guests. In truth, they gave no explanations and only told us to return to the rooms later. for 30-50 minutes confused and scared, I think that in the event of a real fire they are not trained to deal with the situation.

We stayed one night at the hotel, we slept at 1am because we were packing our bags to leave the next day. And at 5am the alarm was activated by accident and we couldnt sleep all night, we didnt get any rest. Im leaving very disappointed in the hotel. They didnt give us any solution, not even being able to check out later so I could get some sleep. Now we are driving on the road almost asleep.

Throughout many years of personal and business travelling from Houston, Texas to the Rio Grande Valley, I have never experienced anything better in a Hotel other than Wyndham Garden McAllen at The La Plaza Mall, which I recommend to the utmost. First and foremost, I want to thank Mr Noe Gomez the General Manager, as on my last visit the past week (seven nights), I continue noticing his impressive and high level of excellent Management, Customer Relations, Professional Skills, Attention to Details, Safety Awareness, Problem Solver, and Hotel Industry Knowledge. He also provided to our organizational Trilogy AC Services great support and accommodation. I also would like to extend my gratitude to the front desk team Vivika, Chasety, and every single one of them with special regards to Joe Carranza for his endless Professionalism and always very friendly, everyone at the Front Desk performed and delivered great Customer Service since the moment those front doors open they welcome every guest, and they are ready for a World Class Customer Service response! The Maintenance team always very active, and I also noticed great hotel renovations, which to the best of my knowledge did not alter or affect any guests. Once again, I thank Mr Noe Gomez and Teli Rendon for all the support and assistance for our organization. I also recommend Wyndham Garden McAllen At La Plaza Mall for the quality of the rooms, excellent common and recreational areas. The Housekeeping and Room Service Personnel are always very friendly, and execute their duties to the highest level of performance accordingly. I can sincerely add, that I have never had any issues in my room, and I fully trust the personnel, in my experience nothing had become lost or misplaced during any of my visits. The entire Hotel Staff is above and beyond expectations, and the overall Hotel cleanliness is impeccable! The daily breakfast is the best with the great support of Chef Eric, and the ladies in the kitchen will make the best morning experience and very delicious. The food is always at the correct temperature and handle with the proper sanitary protocols. For the record, this is not a paid publicity, this is Carlos Guillermo Manzo, that had the need to share personal and business experiences in this prestigious hotel. I have never met before any of the staff, and I have no relatives or interest in this hotel, other than sharing to the public my experience, and deliver a message to whom would like to have a great stay to undoubtedly take into consideration this nice and clean hotel for their future lodging or accommodation option accordingly.

WARNING!! Don t stay unless you want staff with zero integrity stealing your stuff. They stole my AirPods and quickly mix matched them so I couldn t track. True professionals. I travel every week of the year to many places and have never had anyone steal anything. I ve forgotten things less valuable and have always been in the lost and found. Not this staff. They tried to give me some plug in earphones they claim they found in my trash. I never seen those before but like true thieves they denied seeing anything. Probably a sign of how well they clean the rooms. I had to file a police report. Stay at your own risk. Quadruple check your room before you leave. Staff/management reading this you know who I am. You can reply by giving back my iPods. Mr Gomez quickly replied to my concern but since then, no follow up or reply to my emails.

This hotel is not at all what is advertised. Our room was non smoking but smelt like smoke, the beds were uncomfortable, the toilet didnt work, and from the looks youd think they rent by the hour. I dont know how the ratings are so high because my experience was terrible. My boyfriends asthma has been acting up since staying there.

As an emergency check in due to WBA s weather approaching on my travel I decided to check in to this hotel, it was nearly 130am. I was told that only suites were available ($240) which I thought was fine as long as it was worth it. I get to my First room and noticed Womens hair in the restroom along the floor and sink. Grossed me out but I thought maybe it was the cleaning service so I go to the bedroom and see that there are stains on the sheets. I call to complain with front desk and they switch my room.. as entering the second suite I immediately smell musty sweat. It was disgusting! The receptionist walked back up to exchange my keys so I told him I was not happy with the room either due to how strong the smell was, the couch (bed) was broken and there was also hair on the toilet seat and in the bathtub. I was told there weren t any other rooms available and that I could leave but would not be given a refund! It s not 2am, I m exhausted and frustrated! Not to mention, I have a very strong sense of smell so I couldn t get past the smell in this place. I ended up sleeping on a pillow on the hard floor laying on top of the extra clothes I had with me because while laying in the bed I started to itch on my shoulders and my back. I got up and used my phone flash light to check for bugs and although I didn t see any, I could feel them. That s when I found blood stains on the sheets and jumped out of the bed. Had it not been for the heavy winds and cold weather coming in overnight, I would have slept in my car! During checkout I tried to tell the new receptionist of how bad the issues were and she responded with I m sorry, have a great day ! Needless to say, I paid $240 for something I could have experienced sleeping outdoors at a park!
