The location is great. The service is excellent, and the rooms are there to relax in. Noteworthy details: Sitting right in the middle of downtown McAllen, its within walking distance of the bus station and many food & service locations. Its got a quiet and relaxing vibe without all the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Our experience was amazing! Although the rooms are a bit dated- the service to please their customers is phenomenal! We encountered a young man at the front desk named Mark- after 8 hours on the road we were exhausted. He accommodate us with a room on the first floor, because we have little ones, but the room had a slight smell of humidity, without hesitation he moved us to an upgraded room and profusely apologized for the inconvenience. He was courteous, professional and very attentive. We will definitely be back!

This is hard for me to say because I really enjoy the place. I ve been there a couple of times and had a blast. However, I have a sour taste in my mouth due to the uncertainty surrounding my deposit. It s been more than three weeks of calling and asking to get it resolved, and nothing has worked. Its always the same answer: I ll get back to you, I ll talk to my manager about it, A couple more days and it ll hit your account, I ll transfer you to my manager, I will talk to the account team and get it sorted out. Ive heard about a million reasons and ways they are going to resolve it. Yet, I have yet to receive a proper answer with a concrete date that will actually make it right. I wonder if I m the only one going through this or if there are others who have complete confidence that it will be returned, but after a while, they forget all about it and it never appears. Maybe it s part of the operation, or somehow it s a way to earn more money, hoping people forget about it. For some, it may only be $50 or $100, maybe even more, and they prefer not to make it a hassle for what may seem like a waste of time. But it s not just $50. Its the principle that s in question because those $50 or more can be used for something else, something that can actually help our day-to-day lives. With inflation rising and the cost of living increasing, it can make the difference in having gas or not. I wish I didn t have to make this post, but it really frustrates me not being able to do anything about it and having this feeling that they are taking advantage of me and many others who may not want to make more than 15 calls to get it resolved, only to face management giving the runaround at every turn. I hope this gets resolved soon because it has really ruined the beautiful experience I had with this hotel. If you are going through this, don t hesitate to give them a call and insist on getting your money back. Actions like this help prevent it from happening to someone else. Take action and don t let anyone keep what s yours.

Very nice place only problem was we got in the room and found it dirty when we mentioned it, They said they ll send a cleaning lady to come clean the room so we went to dinner. Once we got back, we saw it hasn t been clean so went to front desk again, they said again we re sending the lady. We went back to the room to make sure she cleans and the lady had the audacity just to pick up the clothes that were left over from the people that stayed before us and didn t want to clean the room so they moved is to another room, for us also to find it dirty. Having hairs in the bed sheets, The floor is not vacuumed and a little bit of trash on top of the desk and dressers, so I cleaned it myself, and then went downstairs and asked them for new blankets for the bed, after telling them what we found with the new room. Here are just some pictures. I have a whole lot more. This hotel is not worth the price. I do not recommend to stay there. I personally will not stay there ever again. I would rather stay in a motel six then here.

This is a long story, because I am very disgruntled, and feel ripped off. And it s too bad because kenny was delightful and accommodating and the building was interesting itself. Okay this is hard to rate because overall we are satisfied with the room the hotel and wanted to stay again also, the service was excellent when we checked, Kenny did an excellent job, very professional courteous and smooth transaction. But then, when he left the front desk, and other worker was there, although she was courteous and pleasant, not really sure whose fault this is beside the coke heads next door, but we have neighbors right outside our bed about 2 feet on their balcony right next-door, we re talking very loudly and echoing and endlessly, like not even taking a breath, from at least 3 AM to 8 AM. It woke me up they were so loud. My waking up and moving around woke my husband who is a light sleeper and at 4 AM I finally told the front desk, the noise does not end until 8:30 AM, on the 3rd complaint. Then new front desk person he gave us a later check out until one, which barely made up for the five hours of sleep loss, because we woke at 12:50 and we vacated shortly after 1pm but they charged us for smoking in the room! $250 CHARGE not only did we not smoke in the room, but my husband was courteous enough to take all the cigarette butts. Keep them in a small cup, took them off the porch, cleaned up and threw everything in the garbage cans. He always cleans the hotel room before we check out, so it is extra insulting that we are soaking in there, also, our neighbors were smoking and we had to shut the door to balcony several times to keep their smoke out of our room. WE WERE PERFECT GUESTS, did not leave a mess, and smoking charge is 3x the price! We wander the hotel all morning because of the noisy guests next door and the problem was not solved. I seemed to have left a charger there that is unique, and they cannot check until room service comes tomorrow, also even though the front desk lady was very nice, she cannot check into the charge until tomorrow when the manager comes. So I am out almost $300 for no reason and less than accommodating. This is really too bad because even my husband wanted to stay here for several more days. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the air conditioning didn t work in a room and it was just flat turn off like dark screen on the thermostat and we had to keep turning it back on throughout the day and night The pool is green and foggy. Somebody is not checking the chemicals are cleaning it properly, the Night Shift person before the one we saw told us they had a hot tub they do not. One of the main features we were looking for. It was a pool. It is not heated, and it was not clean enough for me to want to step foot in it. The fountain next to it look Crystal blue, but the pool looks filthy. I watched the pool and then clean it. They did not do a pH level check, nor do any chemicals. We were happy to purchase a breakfast for $14 a person, but everything was mediocre and disappointing, except for the fruit half of the fruit was delightful half of it was not. Overall beautiful, historic hotel, lacking a lot of antique features that it once had, but still a cute charming little gem. We were happy to become regulars. Now after this mishap, we feel robbed. I am hoping that tomorrow when I speak to the manager, if I get too, that they will refund the smoking fee that is completely unwarranted, and if we come back, will check treat us as deserving guests. Not to mention the moldy smell from the air conditioner, which we were able to overlook, but the shutting off of the thermostat was very annoying. All in all one night stay ended up costing me over $400 for a mediocre room without a pool. And now I m on the search for a new charger, hoping they will be honest and return it to me on April 3, which, apparently I have to wait until then to get a Resolve. Update: they only refunded me because I was able to go back there in person, KEPT MY CHARGER, some employee stole it. And yep, mold confirmed!

The evening female bartender makes poor quality drinks i.e. 1.5shot across three margaritas (ie.5 per) when each should have at least 1 shot, I felt like I was throwing money away to poor bartending sadly feb 9th 2024. From the front of the building to the room, it feels very welcoming. It s very peaceful & quiet with a nice set of tunes playing all across the hotel. The room is cozy, with a comfortable bed and because of the brick walls and thick curtains. noise & light are basically nonexistent. Highly recommend to stay at this hotel! If possible, reserve a courtyard room, you ll get a view like the one in the picture on this review!

Not only that, charging things to my card THAT I DID NOT APPROVE OF. That is illegal. On my wedding day an incompetent front desk receptionist was chasing me and another party down to pay for fees that we were told were going to be free of charge. I believe her name is adrianna, very disappointed and will not be getting over the mess she caused any time soon.

Casa de Palma boasts an opulent lobby that immediately impresses with its luxury. The staff here are noteworthy for their friendliness and efficiency, consistently going above and beyond to ensure guest satisfaction. The location is quiet but convenient, offering excellent coffee and breakfast joints within walking distance. However, the rooms, while clean, reveal a need for modernization. It appears that they havent been updated since the early 2000s, which is evident in the dated decor and amenities. This is evident in the contraception near the bed, which plays music, but only if it comes from an iPod. This aspect slightly detracts from the overall high standard set by the hotels communal areas and service. Lastly, the lobby bar is in need of more alcohol free options, such as non alcoholic beer, wine, and liquor. More vegetarian and vegan options are needed in the restaurant. Some of us want to be healthy, ethical, and environmentally friendly. Rooms: However, the rooms, while clean, reveal a need for modernization. I really wanted to like this place. Its a beautiful property but it needs some help. Im not even sure how they are able to keep their Wyndham flag. This place is in need of some serious maintenance and staff training. At first glance the room looked wonderful. However, once the lights were on and I was using the room, it was apparent that the staff did not fulfill their duties. The carpet was burned and stained as well as what appears to be an old blood stain on the bed skirt . The bathroom was dirty to to the point where I had to clean the bathtub to take a shower. After my shower I went to wash my face with one of the towels hung out to find a pair of eyelashes attached. I went down to the desk and let them know I was disappointed, the nice gentleman at the desk offered to switch rooms but it was too late in the night for me to switch rooms for a one night stay. As I was collecting my belongings I checked under the bed and found a roll of painters tape. This tells me the room hasnt been properly cleaned since the last time they did renovations. Before leaving I decided to go check out the pool, what I found was a very dirty pool area with cigarettes all over the ground. The fountain had a dangerous broken electrical panel exposing wires. Im am so very disappointed. *I was really hoping someone would reach out but it seems lack of care and customer service is very apparent. Rooms: Dirty Safety: Beware of you have children there are hazards on the property due to bad maintenance including an open electrical box next to the pool

Personally giving a one star due to the experience we had with staff and service. The room overall was okay and nice except for the plumbing issue is like super weak, our first room 258 got clogged and overflowed, and it wet the carpet, they sent maintenance and they said they would give us a new room in the morning, so we spent the night without a working toilet. Maintenance came with a new room key in the morning and we moved our belongings, we go out for the day come back at night and we are locked out of our room with front desk saying we checked out when we didn t, took them an hour to reach a manager, once they did we had to prove it was our room by saying the contents, and were let into the room. Then the front girl calls the room and asks for a card to put on file for incidentals, fine no biggie, but come to find out in the morning at check out she charged us an extra night, we had already paid for trip and room. So overall staff is super unorganized and untrained. We had almost no sleep because of the lockout and we had to leave early the next morning back to our state.

I really wanted to like this hotel but I paid extra for a balcony room and the room I got shares a balcony with the next room and the courtyard view is only 1/4 of the balcony at most. Disappointed to be honest. The hotel isnt bad, dont get me wrong, but I expected better based on pictures.

A one of a kind hotel for McAllen and the rare hotel with history, local lore and charm, and the prettiest pool courtyard palm garden setting in the Valley. The staff are warm and welcoming, and even if the property isnt the shiniest, nor the rooms the most spacious, dont pass up the chance to feel at home in this jewel of South Texas. Walkability: a privileged location because you can walk to the restaurants on Main Street, the downtown food truck park, two minutes from the bus station, and stroll through the historic district of the city of Las Palmas.... Food and drinks: The breakfasts are wonderful and the service is unmatched. Noteworthy details: Garden of unparalleled plants.

Will never go back. Had to leave 20 mins after checking in because the room AC was weak and the TV was broken (1st weekend of college football). They told me that they couldn t switch me to another room and I d just have to wait until the next day for repairs to be made. Offered me a breakfast voucher instead. Which is a very weak way to make up for it. I m paying a lot of money per day and getting very little in return. I m not sleeping in a terrible room because they were too incompetent to prepare it properly and felt not sense of urgency to make it right. Terrible experience. I will never be back.

It was a last minute booking for a night. Next time we will book as a weekend getaway, and enjoy the amenities of the hotel. The neighborhood was inviting for a night walk in the park across the street and enjoy the live music performances. Room could have been just perfect if the AC would be quieter when it started through the night. The king bed was just perfect for an invigorating night sleep Noteworthy details: Beautiful old Hacienda style architecture, mimicking adobe building with arched walkways.

Update: last time I was here was 3 poss 4 years Ago. There was talk about the Hotel changing hands. Never REALIZE, it meant Poor QUAILITY,CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TRADITIONAL DECOR AND DEGREGATION OF A TRUE LANDMARK OF THIS CITY. SO SAD, Dont KNOW Who your Decorator is but they need to go back to SCHOOL!. WHO EVER DECIDED THAT WOOD FLOORING WENT ON A DINING ROOM CEILING SHOULD BE FIRED!! AND it once had its HACIENDA Feel, Now they threw acouple of contemporay cheap pieces and called it An Update....Food (Breakfast was not the best, the use to have a Fresh food breakfast Buffet) and a great deverse dinner and appetizer menu.. the drinks at the bar were on point! Pool, was Extremely needing a FACELIFT! PIECES OF THE POOL FLOOR BROKEN AND SATERATED WATER, SLIP HAZARD AT ENTRANCE,SO VERY VERY SAD PERHAPS SOMEDAY IT WILL ACTUALLY BE A NICE PLACE TO STAY, UNTIL THEN, Wont BE BACK! ITS UNFORTUNATE,BEEN COMING HERE SCINCE 2002... Noteworthy details: Lobby personnel and Waiters were disconnected from Guest no Customer service skills, seemed uninformed. Cleaners and maint people were kind and attentive greeted with a smile.

The pool was nice and big, theres a deep end (9ft) and shallow end (5ft). I didnt need to talk to anyone in the hotel but I saw people talking to restaurant waiters and they looked like they were having a nice genuine conversation which is 10/10 in customer service ! The only bad thing which isnt even all that major was the fact the beds got quite hot at night and the room could ve been a bit more colder. Other than that the room was perfect. 1 bathroom 1 microwave and fridge and 1 nice tv. The hotel is right next to downtown McAllen which is perfect if you wanna go check the stores out or have a bite to eat.

This hotel is in need of a long overdue renovation. The carpet is warped, the bathroom was moldy, there was broken furniture in the rooms. The air conditioner doesn t work fully well, not dehumidifying the room. To top it off there were folks having a party in the pool courtyard after 10pm on a Wednesday. We had to complain three times including going in person to the front desk before management agreed to do something about it. We learned the next day the pool is supposed to be closed at 10. The breakfast Buffett was pretty lame as well, there weren t even proper coffee mugs. We decided to end our three night stay early and went to the Doubletree in town instead after one night here.

This place was horrible the moment I walked in. When we first came in the front desk man was really mean and caught an attitude with everything I said. When we got in the room the bed looked like someone slept in it. Had ants crawling from the window and smudge marks all of the mirror and wet patches in the carpet. Requested for a new room and was told that none were available. Will never visit here again. 1/5 stars

This was a favorite place to stay in McAllen for a decade under Marriott. Tine current stewards of this historic property have eliminated the unique feel and superior service which this hotel was known. The rooms had an attempted modernization which has failed. The welcome was lack luster. The lobby lost all its charm. It s turned into a mediocre experience . Currently I m hoping my room will cool off. Please do not think this will be the experience you once has here. It s my last stay.

Every lounger by the pool was torn so was basically sitting on metal bars, bar didn t open 5 (I mean seriously, had to doordash beer to the hotel) loss of revenue. Came down and front and restaurant area was vacant. Guessing taken over by someone else and just not the same. Still love the mission tropical feel to it but won t be back sadly

Ive stayed here for little over 6 months, during that time most staffs were rude, but there were few that stood out and was very helpful and polite. Natalia during her time there was always very friendly and helpful. I dont know the gentlemans name but he was one of the management, he too was also very helpful, and friendly. Most bartender, wait staff was always rude and seemed annoyed that were even there. Few housekeeping has asked us for money. Rooms were very outdated and many of my co workers saw AC going out, not working properly. Hot water not available. Compared to hotels around US, it is terrible. If it wasnt for those two mentioned, above I would have hated my time. Rooms: Outdated and smells

No AC, smells like sewage (literally). We didn t notice until around midnight but our room was 73 degrees with the AC running. We alerted the desk and were moved only to find the same situation in the next room. Apparently they switch the central AC to heat only around thanksgiving so you get what you get. The sewage smell is in every pipe and originates form the first floor. When I say it s quite strong that s really an understatement. I m the GM of a hospitality company and these conditions are beyond poor. Hotel appears classic and charming at first but all the underlying features are lacking. Staff was nice but failed to solve any aspect of our issues and suggested we pursue a refund through Expedia .

Friday on 9-16-2022 mid shift unit clerk checked me in @10pm. Blue eyed with short reddish hair. She didn t tell me the rooms I booked were already taken and gave them to someone else. She gave me 2 other types of rooms without telling me and I didn t find out until after she had clocked out and gone home. I had the graveyard clerk call her to see why she did that and all she said was I m tired dude I m going to sleep. Have her call the manager in the morning . I was getting married the next morning so I didn t get to talk to Orlando the manager until Sunday. Thankfully he reimbursed us and we only got charged for 1 night for both rooms. But it was still not a pleasant experience because I had booked the suite by the courtyard view for pre wedding photos and I had to deal with that mess close to midnight a night before my wedding day.

Casa De Palmas has always been a beautiful hotel filled with charm and character. Unfortunately, in the two years since I last visited the area the Casa De Palmas is a sad shadow of itself. Maintenance is obviously an afterthought and it is clearly managed by people who don t care. To start, the HVAC in my room was not working properly. The room was hot and humid. They said a problem (chiller) had been repaired and the room would cool down shortly. The receptionist then said she couldn t speak with me further because another customer s room was flooding. An hour later the temperature and humidity had not changed. The cable TV worked intermittently, the carpet is badly stained and frayed and the walls are damaged. When I asked to be moved they said they did not have another room available. Which was interesting since I could have booked another one at that very moment online. I asked for a fan, they didn t have one. So, I checked out in the middle of the night. They offered no solutions, no apologies and there was no effort to make it right. The amenities I used to enjoy at Casa De Palmas are a thing of the past. It is now just a run down hotel.
