Great selection of various different book genres! The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful! I dont drink alcohol, so I cant recommend anything on that end! Great small buisness in Longview, I pray they succeed! :)

DROVE OVER 2 HOURS ON A SATURDAY TO COME TO THIS STORE. CLOSED FOR A PRIVATE EVENT. really? A private event needs the busiest day of the week and needs you to close for the ENTIRE day when you arent even open on Sunday?????? Pathetic. Worst let down ever. You need to leave Saturday as open hours may vary call store to check on Google instead of LYING and saying open 10 to 8 every Saturday. I wish I could do 0 stars.

They have a Reading with Friends night. That should be enough. But they also serve water, tea, wine, etc. Its such a comfy bookstore with personality. I love to go there!

Went for a book signing held in the store. The atmosphere is very pleasant and upbeat with lots of couches and spaces for reading. They serve some pretty great wine and are super accommodating. the owner is very nice. Will go back again.

I love this place. The mother-daughter team who run it are exceptional people. The books are plentiful and diverse. The wine, beer, and now tea are local and unique. They have many community events and are just great! Go! Go! Oh, and they kid friendly!

Perfect place for a party!! We hosted a surprise party for over 40 people and it was incredible! The cutest bookstore with board games, plenty of seating, wine/soda/beer bar, and plenty of space! The owners and staff were so sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend!!!

I can always count on Books and Barrels having exactly what I didnt know I needed. It is so refreshing to see such a variety of books and representation. I love taking my kids to see whats new in the kids section, and they always find a book that helps their hearts and minds grow in acceptance and love. The environment is lovely as well. Highly recommend!

Love this place, I never knew it was there, I had taken my grandson to world of wonder, but they were closed, so we walked around downtown and found this cute little book store, I love it, my grandson loved the childrens section as well, the people who run the place are very sweet and helpful.

Stopped by to check the place out and had a great time, amazing books and really great wine. Staff was very friendly. The atmosphere is amazing, inviting, and comfortable. Kicked my shoes off, sat on the really cool vintage furniture and read my book until I almost nodded off to sleep. Will be back next time Im in town.

I always feel at home when I visit Books & Barrels. Laura, Joanna and Chad are great people and they will help you with anything you need. It is a good place to sit back and enjoy a great selection of wine and other great beverages. And they host a variety of events such as Art night and poetry night! I regularly visit Books & Barrels, Laura is really great she will order whatever books you need that they dont already have. Joanna whips up some marvelous mimosas, and is always super nice, and Chad is really chill and a nice guy. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun! I recommend doing your book shopping here, and gathering here with friends to drink and socialize! You will fall in love!

Hands down my favorite spot to hang out in downtown Longview! Awesome owner, awesome vibes, awesome events...and all still in its early growing stages! At the time Im making this post they have a poetry night every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday, a very kid friendly art night every 2nd and 4th Wednesday, and an open mic every 2nd and 4th Thursday! Whether youre just stopping in to grab a book, or grab a drink, or to watch/participate in a creative night you should come on out!

I ve been in twice, both with and without my child. The first time the reception was cold, we weren t greeted at the door, no one offered to show us the wine bar, and their two children were eating McDonald s at the only coffee table between the only two couches in the place. I didn t feel comfortable sitting in front of the kids with wine at the only spacious seating area with my friends. We browsed the selection, noting the lack of a wine menu. Because they offer wine we expected someone to offer a menu or explain the selection. Instead it felt like they wanted us to leave. This was at 1:00 pm on a Saturday. We were the only customers. The second time we thought, let s give it another chance. Same exact vibe. I had my child this time and he tried to ask the employee about the book arch and instead of explaining the arch she seemed irritated that he even inquired about it. There was no engagement at all. Because we were the only customers I assume it was the owner s two kids eating yet again on the only two couches in the place. I let my child pick out a book and we left. This was at 6:00 pm on a Thursday. Bottom line this business feels like a private club and if you re not someone they know personally don t bother. Even if you purchase something they aren t friendly to you at all. I love the concept and I feel they have a lot of potential. They just need to sell it. Be more friendly, offer wine, offer to converse a little about the story behind the business and wrap it up with a nice let me know if I can help you.

My wife finally took me to Books & Barrels for the first time. As a lover of both books and wine, I was ashamed at how long it took me to finally step through the door. We bought everything--not excluding half of their puzzle selection, as gifts, because even their taste in puzzles was top notch. After we carried our pile of books back to the car, we returned for another hour or so just to enjoy a couple glasses of local Texan wine and to read a few chapters of our new acquisitions. Thank you for the wonderfully unique addition to our downtown!
