I ve been to this location many times, but yesterday evening was an odd experience. The guy behind the counter wouldn t give me my soda after I politely asked for it. Instead he smirked and asked another guy to give me my soda. It was very odd. I ordered outside of my usual - shrimp tacos and it was horrible! It was cold and the shrimp tasted fishy. I do not recommend the tacos. Very disappointing experience for me.

This place is my favorite restaurant in the entire world. I m not exaggerating. I ve been visiting these Shucks locations for about 15 years. I don t have one close enough to where I live, but this location is the one I always choose because it s not crowded. It s more than the food, it s the vibe it s the energy. I honestly have a full reset to my soul and spirit everytime I come here. A frozen margarita is a must and I love to try all their flavor combinations. Honestly these are supposedly wine margaritas but one , just ONE is all it takes and I am tipsytown just a few sips in. I love their crawfish when it s in season, raw oysters, I love their hot boiled spicy garlic shrimp. Order their fries and dip them in their tartar sauce see if your life doesn t improve by at least 8%. Order their hush puppies too. Now this seems like alot of food .. it is but I always finish it. It s a journey not a race. I have one chicken nugget kid that just comes along for the ride and because he s a child, and then I have another kid that always wants a whole set of crab legs to himself, the crab legs are always quite substantial.

We go here on occasion for seafood baskets. This visit seemed like the A/C was not working right. I got the catfish and shrimp basket. The catfish was so overcooked that on one of the fillets, the fish itself looked like pork rinds. The shrimp batter was so thick it was hard to bite through, so I had to peel it off which left very little actual shrimp. The hush puppies were good. The fries were decent. I would have sent the order back but it was too hot to stay longer. Maybe next time it will be better.

Aw Schucks has good food. We were there when oysters where 24.99 a dozen and the were good. The gumbo was delicious. My girlfriend had a big salad with blacken shrimp and avocados. It looked and tasted very good. They had oysters on the half shell, grilled and fried.

First of all.. ketchup doesn t go with raw Oysters, it just doesn t. It s mignonette. The lemons in the self serve were covered in gnats. The crawfish was seasoned on the outside and juicy, if your juice is water. No flavor. I ordered the raw oysters & got grilled. I gave them a try, I could barely find them under the loads of Parmesan. My husband got the catfish Po boy w/ hardly any catfish. I am happy to pay $17 for oysters, but not on a couple of ice cubes & no mignonette sauce. That s part of the whole experience. None in the unkempt self serve station either. Unhappy for a birthday dinner. Do not recommend.

Was in DFW for a wedding. This spot was right next to my hotel. I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem in North TX. Aw Shucks has tastier fare than plenty of seafood shacks Ive had on the Gulf Coast! Over 2 visits, I had their shrimp po boy, half dozen raw oysters, side salad, shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, and blackened catfish. The fry on the po-boy was light, crisp, and not too greasy. The oysters were perfectly briney and clean. They have a custom condiments bar where you can mix your own sauce to taste. Side salad had quality greens and a ripe piece of avocado, which was a nice balance to the other rich food I was eating. The shrimp cocktail is generous. It is served in a beer mug that was literally overflowing with shrimp dusted in seasoning. You can adjust the heat level of the appetizer, and the sauce had the freshness of a gazpacho. The chowder was nice and fairly light. The amount of potatoes gave the soup some starch, and thickened the broth without having to over-rely on heavy cream. The blackened catfish was perfectly crisp and flaky. Staff was very friendly. Jackson was the cashier, and he answered my menu questions quickly and clearly. The other staff who checked in on me were also nice. Fun beach side music playlist made the whole experience feel like a mini gulf-coast vacation.

My lady and I stopped by for dinner. I ordered the 3 piece catfish filets, fries, no slaw, extra hush puppies. My lady ordered the shrimp, fries, no slaw extra hush puppies. We both agreed the fish and the shrimp were unseasoned. I thought the fries were the best part of the meal. We both agreed they gave us good portions. I didn t really like the structure. You order at the front desk and then you seat yourself anywhere. Also, there was a bad smell near the front desk while we were waiting in line to order. (I don t know if that was the smell in the building, or if someone forgot to fully wipe before coming here) They call you to pick your order up from the pick-up counter. We sat at a booth, but the area felt crowded at times as people were entering and leaving our area. Overall, I ll give it a 2

First time ordering and it was to go: Ordered a catfish combo with Mississippi seasoning and I also ordered a pound of lemon pepper flavored boiled shrimp. Pros- Clean, spacious inside establishment, good portion size. Cons-Food was extremely bland (not seasoned)! The catfish batter was not seasoned at all. It was literally coated in cornmeal and that s it. Somehow they forgot to season the fish batter. The shrimp boil had a little bit of sauce in the bottom of the pan, which barely had any flavor. I had to make my own sauce once I arrived home, to avoid the shrimp boil going to waste.

Oysters were completely over cooked and completely stuffed with what looked like bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Almost not edible. One of the 12 oysters didn t even have anything inside of it just a shell. Lol Husband ordered wings and fries, said fries were under seasoned and the wings tasted like they had been sat out and then sauced. Only good thing about the meal was the sausage. The raw oysters are the main characters here, in addition to the margarita! The restaurant is extremely clean and attentive to bussing tables. I would come back for sure! Over all this place is amazing. The oysters are delicious!! I had the fried shrimp and it was ok. The breading needed more seasoning but I made my own cocktail sauce and that added the flavor I was looking for. The frozen margarita is really good. The music playlist is great. And it s not too loud where you have to scream across the table. The staff is on point to clear your table so you stay comfortable. We noticed that there wasn t any bugs flying around and really clean. Definitely recommend if you re craving some good oysters.

We had a specific conversation with the young man about the boil spice level. He said I was a little spicy, so my daughter went with the crab legs instead because he said they were NOT spicy. It came out covered in spices. It was too spicy for her to eat, so we asked if they could make it again without the added spices. They rinsed it off and sent it back. Unacceptable. They still had spices on them, so my wife and I had to get the meat out because it was burning her hands. I had the catfish fillets. They were too thin, mostly breading, and overcooked. Coleslaw was awful. The oysters looked good that my wife ordered, and the fries were good that came with the fillets. The shrimp and sausage gumbo came with cold cocktail shrimp on top. Not exactly authentic, or good for that matter. The cocktail sauce was ketchup, and most of the crackers for the oysters were broken. One package was opened. Overall 1 star, but the guy cleaning up brought my pocket knife out to our car that I left at the table. Thanks you to him. 2 stars. Overall, it was an unacceptable $100 meal. I went back to the hotel and ate beef jerky, trail mix, and canned beer. It was better than the catfish.
