The pancakes were as advertised. We are visiting from out of town & were aware that pancakes were among the best in the nation. It s a well deserved recognition. They were awesome. The Texas hash was excellent as well. Large portions, great service by Raquel our waitress & definitely will be back when back in the area.

This was my first time eating at Red Oak Café. It was an hour drive for me, but it s always worth the drive when you re going to spend time with friends. Although they were quite crowded, we were seated quickly. When I tasted the food, it was apparent to me why they were so very crowded word had obviously gotten out. Everything was served hot, tasted fresh, and was completely delicious. The portions were huge, so we all had to-go boxes with us when we left. This was a great morning with great company at a great restaurant serving great food!

I absolutely adore this place. My dad and I frequently come here for breakfast together. Its my all-time favorite breakfast place. Im a fool for iced coffee, and their selection of iced coffee flavors is delightful! I love that this place is Christian-based, as I am a worshiper of the Lord. The environment is adorable and cozy, which I really appreciate as Im a big fan of nice, comforting environments. The servers are angels, and Ive even received compliments from a few of them!

Red Oak Cafe exudes a charm thats undeniable. Stepping inside feels like stepping into a friends cozy kitchen, with warm lighting, friendly chatter, and the aroma of home cooking wafting through the air. The service, while not Michelin-starred, carries a genuine warmth that makes you feel welcome. Overall, its a place that sets the right tone for a casual, comforting meal. Now, onto the food. My biscuits and gravy arrived like a fluffy cloud crowned with creamy goodness. The biscuits were massive, each bite pillowy and soft, a testament to their homemade pedigree. However, the gravy leaned heavily on the salty side, making it a bit of a one-note affair. My fiances frito pie, crafted with chicken chili over corn, offered a decent rendition of the Texas classic. The filling was hearty and satisfying, but unfortunately, the temperature had dipped into the lukewarm zone, a minor but noticeable misstep. Overall, Red Oak Cafe hits a 7 out of 10 on the foodie scale. Its a charming spot with undeniable local appeal, but the food, while good, lacks the spark of true culinary excellence. The overly salty gravy and tepid frito pie left us wanting a bit more from the flavors. Still, theres something undeniably comforting about Red Oak Cafe. Its a place where good company, warm vibes, and decent (if not stellar) food come together to create a pleasant dining experience. If youre looking for a cozy, local joint with a friendly atmosphere, Red Oak Cafe delivers. Just be prepared to adjust your salt shaker and maybe request your dishes piping hot. So, is Red Oak Cafe worth a visit? Absolutely. Just keep your expectations grounded and enjoy the warm, homey vibes this hidden gem offers. After all, sometimes, a decent meal amidst good company is just what the soul needs.

I am a frequent customer of Red Oak Cafe and usually dont do this, as I dont like to complain. But I absolutely cannot stand their hostess, I believe her name is Colette. If I didnt know any better, it seems as though she is inebriated during her shift with the way she behaves. Absolutely rude and horrible. My family and I have been told to wait as she has seated someone before us despite us being there first. I understand if someone has a bad day and makes mistakes, but her behavior absolutely sours the experience. The food is lovely and I generally have a good experience when that particular hostess isnt working, but I dont think my friends, family, and I will ever be back. I hope changes are made so that people can enjoy their experience without being treated as an inconvenience to someone whose job it is to seat us and be a HOSTESS.

She was super sweet and wanted to make sure that we felt welcome and that we enjoyed the food. The food def exceeded my expectations. Very tasty The portions are more than enough. From the time we entered into this place until the time we left, the over all experience was superb! We actually got lucky especially going on a Saturday, that we didnt have an extremely long wait. I went back to get those jalapeño grits I wanted everything I normally get but presented differently. Eggs over easy, sausage patty, grits, and instead of a plate, I went for a sandwich . Was going to do wheat toast but allowed her, my waitress, to tell all the options and one I never thought of and she said.. crooooiissaanntttt and that s when I knew we connected, she was great, and I got the nod ..or that was just how it played out in my head.. I did dip my croissanwich into the jalapeño grits for the first couple of bites and then scooped grits on to the next bites. I was happy to be able to squeeze the sandwich and see and feel the yolk, this is for the yolk LOVERS ! I squeezed it and saw the beauty of it. Exhale. then BITE!! Yum! Perfect I added something warm for the occasion, hot cocoa . A must try Updated: Jalapeño Cheese grits

First time trying this restaurant. You can join the waitlist online and checkin when you arrive for a shorter wait time. Everyone was super friendly and at 11AM on a Friday the place was PACKED. My husband ordered the breakfast quesadillas and the portion is monstrous, definitely shareable item. The salsa was incredible and I ate all his hash brown because they were perfectly done. I started with a hazelnut latte iced and it tasted all Natural-a great nutty finish. Then I had the chicken and dumplings with cornbread and it was by far the best chicken and dumplings I have ever had in my life. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. Our server was awesome, friendly and patient. Hands down will return again soon!!! Vegetarian options: Most breakfast items and lunch items. Dietary restrictions: You can build your own breakfast and lots of lunch items that are vegetarian. Parking: Shares a lot with Mr sombrero. Kid-friendliness: A few families but also very diverse crowd.

Wait Time: If you dont want a long wait, I highly recommend getting on the online waiting list. It will tell you your number in line and how long your wait time will be. Food: Absolutely delicious! The pancakes were the size of plates and beyond good. I added pecans to mine and was only able to eat 1/2 of one. The eggs and sausage were cooked perfectly. I like my hashbrowns with a little more crunch to them, so Ill be sure to request that next time. Drinks: The sweet tea was average, and the strawberry lemonade was decent. Staff: Our waitress was extremely busy due to them being short staffed, but she made sure we were taken care of. Overall: The food was delicious and the value great. We will be back.

It was incredibly cold (and is usually) this morning. We and the surrounding tables were very uncomfortable. Still though, the food was as good as ever, and service was very friendly, but my eggs were cold and not at all pleasant in my mouth a few minutes after they arrived, due to the ambient temperature.

I know 5 stars are usually reserved for fine dining. When considering that its a breakfast/lunch cafe, it rates at the top of its category. The menu is small but well-executed and the kitchen is always happy to accommodate dietary needs and personal preferences. This place is worth the visit for their pecan coffee, bacon vinaigrette dressing and unique chicken chili Frito pie.

Especially loved the toast. Most places do not put enough butter on the toast. Red Oak Cafe does.

When you go to a restaurant to order food, and they tell you, you cant order it like that, it confuse the cooks. All I ask is for a extra egg, 4 total. 2 scramble and 2 over easy.. WE CANT DO THAT.. SMH

Lots of excellent food, hard working, dedicated waitresses, food gets to table fast and hot. Highly recommend. Not cheap, plus 20% tip is $$$. Very much worth the price.

I had breakfast this morning with a friend. We had a lot of catching up to do. Our server, Julie, was great. She was attentive but didnt make us feel rushed. We will definitely be back.

Last time we where there they did not let us wait for the other parties bc they were late, even though we were consuming already. They took away their chairs and table. Hmm. I think I stick to my area the cool and historic Heights.

So we come here everytime we drop our dog off at the groomers. Used to be my favorite breakfast place. This visit was a huge disappointment. I always get the Belgian waffle this visit my huge, thick, fluffy waffle that I cant finish looked like a frozen waffle it was thin and small. On top of the disappointment with my food the waitress was extremely rude. My husband ordered the 2 tacos it came with a teeny plastic container of salsa my husband asked for an extra container since one was enough for one taco and he had 2. The waitress charged my husband $2 and brought him a bowl which was excessive and over half of it was wasted since there was nothing to eat it with. Guess I need to find a new breakfast place.

My wife and I came to Houston to visit NASA and fortunately our hotel breakfast was not good which forced us to discover this gem. I got the breakfast quesadilla and omg it was amazing. My wife got the hot mess breakfast bowl and she loved it. If you are in the neighborhood I highly recommend this place. Come hungry, you won t be disappointed! Oh and their jalapeño grits were out of this world. You have to try them.
