Has a roped off swimming area, boat ramp and restrooms (no showers). Covered picnic benches with grills. The swimming area has pebbles instead of a mud bottom. The swimming area is at the buttom of a hill. It can be extremely difficult for handicap people to get to the picnic benches and swimming area Fishing is not allowed. No camping sites for tents or RVs. Budget friendly because there is no entrance fee.

Decent park, not always open. The beach area is mostly clean with a netted section for swimming. There is a boat ramp and ample bank to launch a kayak. They have a few picnic benches and coverings that are mostly well kept. Toilets: They have bathrooms, nothing fancy but it is what it is. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome, they must be leashed if there are other people around.

My friends, their 2 kids (9 & 3), and I visited on Memorial Day 2024. Parking is a little weird here, but the place was not super crowded. The beachy vibes that you may see in other Google reviews arent accurate.. The shore is actually very rocky. However, weve had a lot of rain this season, so the water level may just be higher and hiding the sandy parts. It was a good swim, though. If you plan to visit, definitely bring your bug spray and look out for ants!! They are everywhere. 3 stars because ants and the restrooms were locked and inaccessible during our visit. This place DOES close. The sign says 7pm, but the park service didnt kick everyone out until just after sundown (aboit 9pm). Although, that could have been a holiday-specific exception. Remember to Leave No Trace!! Playground: None Dog-friendliness: Yes, just pick up after your pups. Picnic area: There are a couple of small gazebo/picnic table spots around. Quickly taken. They di include a small grill near each one. We didnt utilize these during our visit.

If ur dropping a boat n not gonna stay for anything, good ramp. If u gotta use the restroom, do not, and I repeat, DO NOT go inside these. They r horrible n look like theyve been neglected for years. Save yourself the sick stomach and venture elsewhere for a good park and clean restrooms. Playground: Nope Toilets: Almost blew chunks when I went inside. Horrible and disgusting. Dog-friendliness: If ur dog eats poop, good place. If not, Id say not a good place for a dog. Picnic area: Um No

Mallard Park is on the eastern edge of Lavon Lake, and so the sunset views here are phenomenal. The water always has a reflective shine to it during the evenings. There are plenty of parking spaces; some of them shaded. Theres a boat ramp, and a lot of space to fish. Overall, it is a calm and great location along the lake.

Great place to swim, people in the area have always been extremely polite. Unfortunately the only reason I am giving it a 2 star is because of the following: 1. The grounds are not kept up as well as they should be, so you may wind up walking through 12 to 18 inches of weeds to get to the water 2. Bathrooms need condemned pretty much (They did add a portable bathroom, but that s just a temp fix) 3. Be prepared to wear shoes all the way up to the waterline because of the stickers/burrs that are extremely painful to walk on in the grass that are not easy to see until they are in your feet (As long as you wear flip flops or swimming shoes you should be ok).

Not sure who is responsible for the upkeep of this park, but whomever it is, they have some work to do. We went there for a family birthday party and got there around 3:30 in the afternoon. The drive into the park has large potholes, the entrance to the bathrooms near the boat ramp are weed covered and they were locked, the gate so you could drive or walk to the picnic tables near the swim beach was locked. The bathrooms near the swim beach were also locked. We parked near the boat ramp and had to walk through high weeds/grass to get to the swim beach. Once there, we had a good time but it definitely needs some TLC.

Mallard Park is nice to bring your family over and have a picnic or/and relax. However, the scenery is gorgeous, though, you have to be warned and aware about the spiky grass and the sticks. It is advisable to have sandals, crocs or shoes when you get in. Besides that, the lake is very nice and cold. My family always enjoys our time here.

This park has not changed much since the 1980s. A much needed upgrade for the restrooms, really awful. Also, be sure and wear shoes. The grass is full of weeds and stickers. I would also recommend a handicap access path. There is a concrete walkway that ends right behind the restrooms, but cannot take wheelchair. For boat launches, it is suitable but not for boats larger than 21 ft. Lighting at night is sub-standard.

They broke 3 of the 5 lugs keeping the tire on & tried on the other side as they were loose as well when we returned & may have been spooked. We were lucky we made it home safely. We wont be launching there anymore. I did report it to the police as well.
