My favorite donuts just about anywhere! I try to get there early for the bear claws or apple fritters, they sell out fast. The cinnamon rolls are like I remember from the old days, big and spicy, crunchy on the outside edge, and soft in the middle.

We lucked upon this place when visiting family for early coffee a couple of weeks ago. We wanted fresh donuts and just saw their sign and stopped. Very small, non-descript place, so we were a little leary. But it ended up being a great decision. They had the biggest, best Apple Fritters I have seen. So I purchased their last 4. I also bought 6 donuts. We soon found out we were lucky to find the apple fritters after 8AM. They are always sold out because they are famous. People even come over from Austin to buy them. Who knew? They also threw in about 10 donut holes! These Apple Fritters were so good that the family was fighting over them. We probably couldnt have planned this better. Advice: If you are driving past Kyle, Texas, early in the morning, stop into Hays City Dounts! And hurry! Parking: Parking can be a short wait early morning. Kid-friendliness: Kids love donuts, and they have sprinkles!

Update: quality has gone down while the price has gone up. We will not be back. Our familys favorite donut shop! We go at least once a week, usually more. The prices are great, and they are quick to give you your order. Well be back! Food : 2/5

The Chinese food is great. Considering they are the ONLY Chinese Food place in Kyle, they should consider delivering and being open ore often. Weird hours, and closed three days a week. They could make a lot more money being open more and hiring more staff to make and deliver the food.

Its potentially the worst food Ive had. I had missing items. Items received was fried rice. The rice tasted like Knorr instant rice. Dry, and no flavor. Egg drop soup had the weirdest flavor ever. The chicken used the sweet and sour was so dry, its beyond comprehension. The price is absolutely ridiculous for the quality of food. I will never eat here again. Theres better food at buffets. Very disappointed that the 9 people working there during pick up, cant complete a simple to go order under 45 mins. Feels like they fried the chicken the entire time to really reaffirm the toughness of the meat.

I love this place. Located in downtown old Kyle next door to the police station. This donut shop is freaking awesome. It has a drive through because who wants to get out of the vehicle first thing in am. Some of the best dounts ever... I try not to post negative reviews of small businesses, but I think Ive finally hit my threshold. Weve been frequenting HCD almost weekly for eight years, and its always been a great treat. The cinnamon roll donuts are our favorite, and theyve always been SO good. However, the price has gone from $1.35 to $1.79 per donut, and theyve almost completely stopped glazing them. Theyre pretty much slightly glazed across the middle and otherwise totally dry. I cant waste that kind of money and calorie count on something that used to be good and is now somewhat tolerable. Wed still be going there weekly if the donuts were what they were a couple years ago, but whoevers glazing the donuts is taking a cue from Dunkin and its a bummer!

First want to say I really like the food. Menu options are great and LOVE their soups. On the other side...they frequently do not have soups. Service can be slow. They frequently are very hard to reach by phone to place a pickup order. I live close and at times I have gone to their location to see if they are open and then place my order inside. Other times I have assumed they are closed and go elsewhere.

It had been a while since we were last there. The city construction down Burleson Rd. and then the Pandemic, etc. They were closed for a bit, but they survived all of this. When we drove by a couple of times, nobody was there. We went, and they were open, so we stopped and ordered some shrimp fried rice. Man, o man, was it worth it. It was very tasty and a lot of shrimp in it. We will be going back and I will recommend this to friends & family. Vegetarian options: They have them.

Ordered two sesame chickens with fried rice and crab Rangoon. Waited 45 minutes. The sauce for the crab Rangoon was ordered along with the meals. When the bags of food came out, my husband asked if they put the sauce in. They said yes. It wasn t in there. Turns out it didn t matter because the crab Rangoon was runny inside. My husband opened his chicken container and said it looked burnt just as I put some in my mouth and tasted the burnt. ALL OF IT WENT IN THE TRASH. HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE NASTY FOOD.

Waited 40 minutes for food to be ready. They couldn t call to let me know that part of my order was out of stock. Drove there, picked up the food, tipped them and drove home. They didn t give me the fired rice I paid for. So I had to go back and pick it up, gas and time aren t cheap. Upon arriving for a second time they hand me a tiny container of rice, and a have a good day . The container I feel is smaller than what should have come with the meal I paid for. 0/5 would not waste your time coming here we gotta do better, Texas

It s been over 3 years since I ve been back to this place. We didn t care much for the Chinese food years ago, though we did love the doughnuts and breakfasts and miss the original owner woman who passed away. Decided to give it another chance after knowing that they did kind of start over. Still original family owned and run! My parents own and run a small bbq restaurant together, so I have a special place in my heart for family run restaurants. They have a tiny menu, but that s a good thing! The food is made fresh to order, the food is hot and delicious! Will definitely start going here again! Large portions at great prices! Thank you!

So Im new to the Kyle area, so I been try out the local shop. This donut place not good. The service was the worst. I know everyone look for help but at least the people their can smile, even a fake smile will work. I ask for half dozen and listing the donuts I want. My highest recommendation. Excellent chinese and donuts. If you live in Kyle, this is a must try. Eggsrolls are to die for. General Tsos chicken is so good I swear theres drugs in it. My recent fave is Teriyaki Chicken, choice cuts of meat and way more healthful if youre trying to avoid fried foods.

I gave them 3 stars because although the food is great, it seems to be real difficult to get them on the phone to make an order. And because the current pandemic I cant exactly walk in to place an order. I once called them like 4 time in a day because I really had a craving but got dial tones or endless rinnging. The food was great. We got donuts, kolaches and a burrito. Food never disappoints. Today we placed our order on the drive thru and it was a long wait. The wait was so long that the 2 cars that were behind us just left.

Amazingly delicious. Best Ive found in Texas for Chinese. Looks like a hole in the wall, but the food and service is worth it. Will be back again. Update: weve been back several times, still the best Chinese food Ive had. Run entirely by first generation. Extremely fair prices.
