Really cute spot: service was fine, food was really not, unfortunately. We had high hopes and started off well with the biscuits which were fab but our entrees were not it - like, REALLY not it. The quiche was watery and not great and the pastrami sandwiches were SLATHERED in butter to the point of where it dripped all over your hands when you tried to eat it. It was also supposed to be homemade pastrami but it seemed to be bacon, and there was an incredibly limited amount of it - think two rashers for an entire sandwich. On all three sandwiches we ordered. Kind of ridiculous when that s the point of the sandwich and it s $22? Anyways, the proportions were all off in this sammy and of the three of us that ordered it, none made it even halfway through. Whether the bacon, extreme over-buttering, or lack of really anything else on the sandwich apart from mayo, it was all a complete bust. The fries were under-done and for four girlies who love fries, for these to go completely untouched really says something. This place has fab reviews but 4/4 of us deemed this not a spot for us! Very disappointing as it s very cute and we had high hopes. Definitely not that Louisiana and definitely do not recommend. Save your pennies and your appetite for somewhere else. One star overall because if the food is that bad, there s really no point in anything else.

Creative & delectable food options including vegetarian & vegan as well as meat/ seafood. The only pastry bar item Ive had was delicious and possibly laced w/crack, so to speak. The wine is pricey; nice for a special occasion. I find the indoor seating/ area less appealing than the outdoor. Indoor: kinda sterile, bright lights, hard edges.

I recently dined at Épicerie in Austin and had a fantastic experience. To start, I had the redfish toast, which was fresh and flavorful. The carbonara was rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned, while the corn bisque was a delightful balance of sweetness and savory. My 9-month-old daughter had scrambled eggs with no added salt, and the staff was very accommodating with our request for her. For drinks, I enjoyed a refreshing mimosa and a Cafe du Monte coffee cocktail, which was a standout with its bold flavor and smooth finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. Overall, I cant wait to return and explore more of their menu!! Kid-friendliness: They were happy to cook anything my daughter needed.

This was such an awesome little place to stop at! The shrimp poboy was really good. The frites were very fresh and cane with mayo & ketchup! Hubby enjoyed the quiche. I had a taste and it was by far in the top 5 Ive ever had! The pastries were a huge hit! Do not pass up a sweet treat! Parking: It is a very small lot, with 1 handicap spot right by the door. There is street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: It is super easy to get in, out, and around. The patio area is really nice and offers more room than inside. It is a little harder to get to the pastry bar, but the staff is amazing and will help you beyond measure!

This is *hands down* THE best bakery/brunch spot I ve been to IN AUSTIN! Everything was better than expected. I went twice in the last week. I ve tried over half of the baked goods in the case and each one is everything it s supposed to be and more. Buttery, flaked, moist, flavorful. Just wow! And I have bound tastes in baked goods too! These are the real deal folks. I enjoyed the brunch this morning and we split the two best menu items. *chefs kiss* both dishes were completely devoured. The attention to detail is so evident. Each flavor compliments the next and the texture is covered all around. I can t wait to come back!

One of my favorites. Quiche is to die for. Menu varies but every last thing is made from scratch. My wife had a variation of a reuben and the relish on it was some aromatic concoction the created - absolutely wonderful. Basically the style is somewhere between New Orleans French and Americana. If you like really well created food that focuses on flavors and is never over spiced, this is the place for you.

Good food but strange dining experience. We were a party of 3 and were seated at a six-top table. Employees tried THREE times to seat a different party at the same table as us. The table is much too small/intimate for 2 different parties of diners. The first two times an employee sat other people at our table, they would set up their menus/waters/silverware, have the new party sit down, and then move them elsewhere after a few minutes it was strange and disruptive. The third time an employee sat a different party at our table, we were at the end of our meal and decided to just leave despite having not finished our drinks. I hate to say it, but our server also checked in on us way too often. It felt pushy, like they were trying to get us to leave. We were enjoying our meal and deep in conversation but were interrupted every few minutes. They were very nice but it was just a lot. We are also service industry but this really took us out of our dining experience at an otherwise yummy meal and beautiful restaurant.

DISAPPOINTED !!! Before the pandemic, I used to love to have a meal once in a while at Epicerie. Not so sure anymore. First, the positive. A charming bungalow with attractive interior. Unfortunately, with a noisy environment. What is it with restaurants these days playing their background music too loud. So much so that diners have to speak louder to be heard across the table. If I wanted loud music, Id go to a night club. Especially when part of that music had curse F words included. Service: Although my waitress was a nice young lady, she was not very attentive. She never asked me how I wanted my hamburger cooked and I ended up with a tough piece of ground meat. I had to ask twice for mustard. At 3 pm, the place was busy but not that busy. My mocha came warm, not hot. Food: the croissant was light and flaky (good) and the omelette inside was creamy and fluffy (good). Unfortunately, due to the tough hamburger inside, it was a bit of a challenge to eat it. No side salad. The ability mayonnaise tasted like jar mayonnaise. Pricing: I know restaurants have to keep up with inflation but $16.00 for a croissant sandwich seems a little excessive. Add to that my mocha + a glass (not even the whole bottle, which I expected) add to a total of $35.45 with tip. Speaking of tip, I found it galling that for the little amount of service I received, tipping started at 22%. Not a good impression. Overall, a so-so experience. Considering the amount of competition for decent restaurant experiences in Austin, Im not sure I will come back to Epicerie. Too bad. I used to love that place. Chef Alain Braux Parking: Limited parking options on their lot. Free parking available on neighboring streets.

I wasn t sure and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but after reading some of the reviews, my speculation seemed to have been correct. The racial profiling wasn t my imagination after all. My family stood at the hostess station for quite some time while waiters continued to walk past us without any acknowledgment. One waitress finally said be right with you but continued to overlooked us for another 5 minutes or so then came back to ask no one helped you yet? as though she was hoping someone else would wait on us instead. Finally after some time, someone behind the bar noticed us being ignored came and greeted us. Meanwhile, a white family came in after us and was greeted right away. Our food came out room temperature and eggs were over salted. We were hungry and didn t want to make a fuss so we ate them anyways. Our waitress friendliness was forced and not genuine but with my husband being in the food industry still tipped her accordingly. We won t be back though because even though it was such a cute and quaint place, the atmosphere was unwelcoming and the wait staff were rude and pretentious except for the bartender/waiter guy (with the long hair). He was the only professional, friendly staff there.

I ordered delivery specifically for the French onion soup. It was listed on the menu on the website. I also ordered the shrimp poboy but mainly wanted the soup. When the driver got to the restaurant, she was told that they no longer had the French onion soup. They had not updated the menu. Well, of course, I could not cancel the order. The shrimp poboy had way too much sauce and was soggy. Really disappointing and really expensiveto pay $20 for the poboy and it doesnt even include fries. Not sure if I will return. I highly doubt it.

Biscuits and Jam were amazing! Unfortunately thats where the compliments end. When I entered I immediately noticed I was the only minority there, including the staff. Not a big deal until I noticed my food came late, those who sat after me got their food before me (they ordered the same meal), my food was cold, and not too friendly of a vibe. I believe the waitresses name was Sam but Im not completely sure. Either way some sort of explanation to understand why it seemed I was being treated differently wouldve been nice. I thought maybe its all in my head until I came to the reviews to see other minorities being mistreated here as well. Figured Id write my own experience too.

We were disappointed to also experience what felt like racial profiling. Despite waiting a long time for our drinks, others who arrived after us were served promptly (drinks, apps, and mains). Initially, we thought it might be due to kitchen timing or busyness, but seeing similar complaints in previous reviews confirmed our suspicions. The atmosphere was loud, with a large number of flies, which made the place feel unclean. To add to our frustration, while we were still seated at a shared table (that had just left), staff openly sprayed cleaner, ignoring our presence. This behavior was incredibly rude and not something weve encountered before in Austin. Food was served almost 40 min later after waiting over 30 min for drinks (apps and mains at once). The quiche was cold. The rest of the food was just ok. We just wanted to eat and leave as fast as we could, but of course, getting the check took way too long as well since our server hardly checked in with us. As passionate foodies, its disheartening to have such an experience in this day and age, and we wont be recommending this place to our coworkers, family, or friends.

Easy 5 stars if I m rating solely on the food. The food here is on par with other Michelin star bakeries I ve visited (or maybe even better). The food is exceptional and for that reason I was okay with this relatively high prices. Everything we had was great. Two things prevented it from being a perfect experience for us: * This restaurant truly has the smallest water glasses of any restaurant I ve been to. If you re drinking solely water then prepare to ask for water every 5-10 minutes. They weren t very proactive in bringing it to us. I wouldn t recommend this place on a hot day. * Be prepared to be presented with a minimum 20-24% tip screen when the bill comes. I would expect a place with such high prices to be paying a more livable wage for employees. And defaulting to such an exceptional tip percentage is a bit presumptuous when I m having to ask for water so frequently. Overall, the service was a 3, but the food was a 6. I ll likely get takeout when I return.

Title: A Taste of Paris in Austix, TX: A Review of èpicerie Food: èpicerie offers a delectable fusion of French and Louisiana cuisine, and our experience with their beignets was nothing short of heavenly. The beignets were a delightful combination of a powdered donut and a croissant, delivering a rich and satisfying flavor with each bite. The quality and taste of the food certainly exceeded our expectations, leaving us eager to explore more of their menu on future visits. Service: From the moment we stepped foot into èpicerie, we were warmly welcomed by the host who promptly seated us. The attentive service continued throughout our meal, with our server ensuring our needs were promptly met without ever feeling intrusive. The efficient and friendly staff contributed to a pleasant dining experience, enhancing our overall satisfaction with the visit. Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Epicerie Café is reminiscent of a charming Parisian bistro, yet with a distinct Louisiana flair. Seated by the huge windows, we were treated to a delightful ambiance filled with the lively chatter of fellow diners, creating an immersive experience that transported us to the streets of Paris. The air conditioning provided much-needed relief from the humidity outside, allowing us to fully enjoy our meal in comfort. We couldnt help but imagine how delightful it would be to dine eye-level with the bakery display case or enjoy our meal al fresco, further enhancing the already enchanting atmosphere of the café. Overall, our experience at èpicerie was nothing short of delightful. With its delicious food, attentive service, and charming ambiance, its a gem that truly captures the essence of both French and Louisiana culinary traditions. We look forward to returning to indulge in more of their culinary delights and bask in the delightful ambiance once again. Dietary restrictions: The server asked us to let them know about any dietary restrictions or allergies upon introducing themselves. We had none, but it was a nice touch before ordering. Had we had any allergies or restrictions, I feel they would have been taken in consideration without issue. Wheelchair accessibility: There was a ramp to go up the building, but cant remember if there is a step to go in.

I love this place! Its a gem tucked away from downtown and never misses. I come here often with my boyfriend and our two dogs. The outside seating area is lovely and their french pastries are some of the best in Austin! We always order the kouign-amann and the quiche if they have it. The quiche changes daily but is always fluffy and has a more custard-y consistency than others. It works beautifully. Weve also had the beef tartare (delicious but small), caesar (love the cured egg yolk), breakfast sandwich (yes, do it!), pastrami sandwich (generous and hits the spot), and the gnochetti (good but not one of our favorites). I want to mention the service as well! I would be careful about coming here at certain times if I was in a rush but I love the staff! I am always happy to see Brenda or Kyle! The staff was friendly but seemed a bit busy to be super attentive. We were able to get what we need for the most part though. Main reason for 3 stars was the duck and grits for $35. It was only a duck leg, 1 egg and a very small amount of grits. I would pay $25 max for quality and how often I get to eat duck around here, but ideally $20. The bourbon latte was pretty good! $9 though. Ah maybe a complaint about the economy overall but it was a decent meal, just way too expensive for what I got.

I have been wanted to try epicerie for a while, ever since I drove by at 10:30am on a Friday and witnessed a huge crowd outside the restaurant waiting to get in. My friend and I arrived right at 10am when epicerie opened and found plenty of parking in the free lot. My friend had a delicious latte and the gnochetti (which is a rich mushroom pasta with dollops of goat cheese). I had the frites and the French Onion soup, which was delicious, although i would have loved a baguette to dip into the savory, cheesy broth. We wanted the beignets for dessert but were too full to eat there, so we took them home and had them a few hours later with tea and coffee. The dough was delicious, but the huge amount of powdered sugar made them messy to eat. Great brunch spot and reasonably priced. Parking: Probably about 10 spots at the restaurants parking lot, otherwise parking on residential streets.

Quiche of the day: The only dish I liked, crust on the thinner side if that s your preference but plenty flaky, filling is light and fluffy. A large portion size as well. Over easy eggs: They came sunny side up without salt or pepper and I asked if I could get them over easy with salt/pepper this time. It arrived again with some green garnish but still without salt/pepper. It was also just lightly poached and extremely oily. I would not recommend if you expect to see any browning/crust in your eggs. I asked for salt at the table because it felt like it wouldn t have helped anyone to send it back again. Frites: Fresh thin fries, slightly under salted but comes with a decent aioli. Crepe: You get a mildly sweet slice of crepe cake that s less than an inch wide. Besides the tiny portion, it doesn t taste like much and the crepe layers are very thick. Looks cute but it was the most disappointing dish and we did not bother to finish it. Slightly longer than average wait, courteous staff, expect to search for parking, Side note: we didn t touch any baked goods as their display is open air and we watched flies land on them

We just finished up New Year s Day brunch here and it was fantastic! All the employees were kind, warm, and attentive. Our server Kyle was especially awesome. We got an iced oat milk latte and the herbal tea for drinks, the gingerbread croix which was the perfect amount of sweet and spice. For our entrees we had the quiche of the day and the duck & grits! Everything was phenomenal, would absolutely recommend based off the meal we had and excited to visit again and try some new things! **they do rotate their menu pretty regularly - that might not be for everyone but personally we always love trying new things!

Epicerie is a must-visit spot for coffee and brunch in Austin. The establishment boasts a charming gourmet grocery and an array of mouth-watering French pastries. The interior is beautifully modern and exudes a pleasant atmosphere. During our visit, we savored some freshly brewed coffee and indulged in their delectable croissants, which were nothing short of amazing. The service was excellent, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had a delightful experience and I highly recommend Epicerie.

Look - everything you need to know about this place lies within the hearts of the staff. As a longtime Austinite, youll know the bartender knows everything about anything, so you should listen. Get whats recommended and youll have no fuss and all the fun. In all seriousness, the food was well above par. Heres what was ordered - Drinks - Negroni af, a Chenin Blanc, beer, and a Sazerac Apps - Oysters of 3 varieties, French onion soup, black rice hush puppies, and crab claws Food - Gnocchetti Desert - Beignet (dont forget these) Only complaints - just more salt on the Gnocchetti, but to each their own. Chef knows! But, unfortunately, to me, the crab claws were a bit of a miss by giving an earthy flavor, which was an unexpected change compared to how other restaurants, like Lenoir, do them. If youre expecting savory, you wont get that. Maybe I wished the claws came in a sauce rather than a brine of sorts - but like I said, the chef knows! All-in-all, this was a great dining experience and I hope you get the service we received. Thanks, Chef

The food was better than average - had the pastrami sandwich and frites. However, the service was just terrible. I sat for quite a while with no acknowledgment and finally after I inquired if someone would assist me, a wait person came. She seemed not really interested in taking my order. Food took a very long time ( maybe 10 people) in there. The wait person has not been trained on how to serve items to the diner or be pleasant. Cannot wait to not see her again. Also, my plate had a pretty big chunk out of one shade and, when inquired, the wait person said that , oh yes, they use chipped dishes. Think a call needs to be made to Austin Health - should NOT be using chipped or cracked serving items.

A very good option for breakfast. I tried Croissant with avocado, scrambled eggs and jalapeno, there are several options for meat lovers. But what is most interesting is that the owner prepares the rolls and all other baked goods herself on the spot. Also the sweet ones. Fresh and good ingredients. Next time I need to ask about a few baking details.... enjoy.

Restaurant was nice. The styling on patio looked Southwest Texas, with some classic country French thrown in. Take a look at the pictures. Lots of pastries and wine available, but we were good, and abstained at that time hahaha. I had a piece of hair under my napkin on a side plate, and on the table. It was not in my food so no problem. Loved the bathrooms! Well done. Parking: Not many parking spots on premise, but some are probably available on side street for busy times. No special EV parking / charger available.

This review is limited to a single visit to get croissants. My one liner: good but overly pricey. Im being gracious with the 4 star review but then I only tried one thing and it tasted good. I just didnt like the price. To elaborate, having been in France in September I was hankering for a good croissant. Pulled in for just that and suffice to say its a big, flaky, buttery croissant that I think was good. But at $5 each + tax, thats overly pricey in my book. Just a month ago in France (Annecy to be exact) I could get a couple croissants and a baguette for less than 3 euro total. And they were all good.

My love and I have driven by this place many times wondering if it was worth the drop in, well this day was a deliberate stop, and so glad we did. We just had a bartender recommend epicerie for thier shrimp poboy sandwich. But today the menu called to us a different way. When you walk in the bright decor and amazing pastries call you to the back of the room. Getting here for breakfast is our next plan. We decided quickly to try some late lunch cocktails. I had the chicory and tequila based espresso martini...yes its bold and delicious. My love opted for the occtain sour a bourbon, citrus, basil, and egg white drink. It was sour and fresh. Loved them both. We always share...sharing is caring you know. Starting with the rainbow trout, its like crudo with ingredients of dip to mix in. The ingredients are so fresh the dill just pops. Then its onto the Beef pastrami sandwich. House made bread, slow cooked kraut. This sandwich was one of the best sandwiches Ive had not only in Austin but anywhere. It was fantastic. Comes with this perfectly house made pickles that cut the richness in the sandwich., just perfect. Today was a special kind of Monday, my love and I were wedding venue shopping...yes this amazing person has all of my heart and sharing my life with her and hers with me is just perfect. I got to share another beautiful lunch with the person I want be with all the time. The first person I want to share everything with. Every moment, every bite of food, sip of drink, smile and tears. Im all yours my love, thank you for saying yes. Love your moon.

We also had the Pork Belly. The pork Belly and Pears were delicious however the radishes were too al dente and very salty. The music was too loud as well. 07 SEP 2023 Took a late lunch here was pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. I ve been wanting to try this place for some time as the menu is Louisiana inspired. The quiche for that day was really good. I liked how high it was thickness wise and it had a nice crust. It had roasted potatoes on top and Gruyere cheese inside. I didn t want an entire Poboy, so I was able to get the fried shrimp that goes in it as a site audit with my quiche and salad. The salad dressing was a nice white wine balsamic. The breading on the fried shrimp was very nice and flavorful the best fried shrimp I ve had for more than a minute. Atmosphere was good had to give it only four stars as I prefer the another customers dog had not been let in there. Full disclosure, it was a smaller animal and it didn t do very much. I preferred it had not been in there at all as food was being served. At least it wasn t a big one. The customer s car does have a dog mode, so I m not sure why they had to bring it inside or even take it out of the house as it was a very hot day. All that aside, it was a good meal a nice place. I did take away some pastry and some coffee to take home and finish there. The almond croissant was excellent as was the chocolate chip cookie. I also got the cinnamon poundcake bar. I did ask if they do anything or plan to do anything with mirliton squash. They did tell me they do plan to do something with them once they are in season. I ll definitely be checking back in around October.

Tried this place out at the recommendation of our air bnb host, and boy we were disappointed. We went for Sunday Brunch, and were a bit disappointed the rest of the menu isn t served. The brunch menu was minimal, and to be frank, not many things sounded as good as the regular menu. We tried the quiche of the day and the steak croissant sandwich, both of which were just okay. The quiches were actually incredibly jiggly and just seemed undercooked. It was like a very loose custard and it was kind of gross. My mother needed salt for hers because she found it to be bland. The croissant was okay, but the sauce we asked for on the side was forgotten and we had to ask the server again. The service was again, just okay. Our server couldn t answer our basic questions about the dishes, and when I asked about the different flavor teas she said I m not a tea person . She didn t come out to check on us at all and only came out when she noticed we were getting up to come inside so we could pay and leave. The patio tables outside were also dirty, and looked like no one had bussed after people had dined. When we went inside to look at the pastry counter, someone from the kitchen came busting out of the bathroom as I walked past and ran into me, and when I automatically apologized out of politeness she snapped at me in a rude manner and went running into the kitchen. I was kind of taken a back considering she had run into me, and had such a nasty attitude. It was a little confusing and after such a subpar dining experience we just really wanted to leave. We paid our egregiously expensive bill and left. I will say the one thing this place does well is their pastries. We grabbed a couple to go for our trip out of town and they were AMAZING. The croissants were to die for! They had an adorable pride pastry too which I thought was very fun and festive. They should do more specialized coffee drinks and pastries, I think it s where they excel for sure!

Went here with a friend this weekend and had a pleasant experience. The exterior resembles a modern farmhouse, and the cuisine brings you to the New Orleans Riverfront with a French twist! Not a lot of parking, so come early or park in the nearby neighborhoods. Wait staff was helpful and kind, stopped by regularly to check on us! We ordered the hush puppies and beignets along with one of the espresso martinis and a standard oat chai. The drinks were fabulous. Beignets were alright - this is one of my favorite desserts so Ive tried many amongst a variety of places and these ones were lacking a bit fluff for beignets. The hush puppies were also decent, could have used a bit more flavor to them, however, they were tasty. The bakery is a whole other story - amazing! Overall not going to kill the wallet and youll have some nice treats for a Sunday brunch or a weekday dinner date, whatever youre feeling. Great spot!

The food was also amazing. I ordered the Quiche of the Day. Easily one of the best quiches Ive had in a while! If Im ever back in the area Ill definitely visit again~ My only complaint was that they were low stock on a lot of stuff. I wanted to see what kind of pastries they had, but nearly all of them were gone. They mostly had croissants and cookies left. Its understandable, since I came at a time where they were packed. He was clearly racist - serving all the non POCs before us. He got our order wrong multiple times, never checked on us. Horrible and unacceptable service. We paid our check through another server because he never checked on us. And before we knew it, he ran out and screamed you never paid your bill . It was because of his incompetence that he got the checks mixed up and yet he embarrassed us in public. When we cleared it up, he just rolled his eyes and did not apologize. Again, there were undeniably racial undertones and it felt very uncomfortable to be a person of color because of people like Jason. It was our second time at this place but because of Jason we are never returning. Traumatic experience. Please do better and get servers who have manners and empathy.
