Good food, great service, and I really enjoyed the music. The strawberry cake was so good. It was perfectly sweetened, and the cake was so moist. It does take a little bit of time because it is cooked fresh, so if youre in a hurry, I would order ahead. I cant wait to try more on the menu.

Its been a little while since I had Geechies, but I needed to give this review. My sister ordered catering from them while I was visiting Harker Heights. I have not stopped thinking about the Shrimp & Grits. Everything we had was amazing, but the shrimp & grits were . it was the first time I had grits. The grits on their own were sooo good too. I live in Pittsburgh. Ive tried making it, and nope, bad idea. Now, Ill be heading to a local place in Pittsburgh to see how theirs is....but Im doubtful itll be as tasty or satisfy my Geechies craving.

Being born and raised in SC I ve been missing good southern cooking from home! So I was very excited to try this restaurant. The atmosphere and location are both very peaceful and the staff were also very pleasant! I got the 6pc Fried Chicken wings and tried their Macaroni and cheese, cabbage (wanted collards but they were out), and their rice and gravy. The food was a bit too salty and peppery for my liking. The rice was salted a long with the gravy being salty. The chicken was salty along with the batter of the chicken being salty. The cabbage was decent but too overcooked for my liking. I liked the consistency of the Mac and Cheese just not the seasoning as it was also salty and peppery. I understand different areas in the south have different ways of cooking it s just their style was not MY preference. But overall a comfortable establishment.

Excellent food. Don t ask for salt or pepper. Everything is perfectly seasoned. If you don t have an Auntie or uncle who can throw down, come to Geechies. They will give you plenty to chew on. No open on Saturdays but once you taste their food, you will understand, the hardworking staff needs a rest day! Awesome establishment.

Definitely not friendly people but the food is good, but they have messed up my order and given my order to someone else and I theirs, the customer service is absolutely horrible . Every single time I call to try to place an order the person on the phone has a nasty attitude which I don t even want to deal with nor be eating the food from someone who treats people so poorly. I ve had to wait over 20 minutes just for them to give me my money back when they gave my order over to someone else. Maybe get someone to order the food that has a stern presence and won t tolerate any disrespect and you might actually be able to enjoy the food!

I really regret to make this review, but I want this to be addressed and heard. I ve been to this restaurant twice, the first time was Mother s Day. My meal was superb.I don t live in Killeen, I ve been telling friends how good my meal was. So I looked on line to plan a trip to Geechie s, my two friends and I. The hours online just gave days and hours, we decided on Friday. We drive to killeen, and in front of the restaurant is a small chalkboard, stating there hours and Friday was takeout only. Well to our shock! We say online says nothing about Friday meals are takeout s only. So I get out of the car and go inside, to speak with someone about this unexpected thing that has presented itself. I state my confusion, she goes on to give me details of all the days and hours and how they serve on those days, that they have been open five years and that s how long it s been done like that. Clearly someone didn t take enough thought into there google advertisement. I just fairly, recently heard of the restaurant, so if you make no means for me to know that detail, how am I supposed to know as being a new customer from a different location? We were so disappointed we just decided to look for a restaurant we could go and sit down to enjoy a meal:( in all my disappointment I will comeback:)

This was a random chance coming here and oh my God the food was amazing!!!!!! Those candied yams where the bomb!!!! I try to support black businesses but sometimes the customer service is NOT there and this is why we patron white businesses and continue to go back to them. I had the cafeteria special. This is food that is already cooked that you can just get off the line. I absolutely did not like the collard greens. Asked if I could try something else. I was told I had to pay since the greens were on my plate. Wth? So I dont like your dish but if I want another side that possibly tastes better, I have to pay. Never..... heard of this. But.... this is why we often patron other places. I just scraped the food off of my plate but.... Im sure Ill still have to pay for it. Christians right? Oh OK. To reply to this business lack luster response. I did not ask to TASTE TEST the food. Reading is absolutely fundamental. The collard greens were nasty. I wanted a different side as I couldnt eat that. Youre too busy being defensive as opposed to actually reading. This is NOT my first visit to this establishment. As always, Ill give you or any other business the benefit of the doubt and visit again. And again, something else happened. I decided to give it a review this time. Yes we do have to do better. Y all, today we went to Geechie s Southern Style Restaurant in Killeen, Texas and it was a taste of home, straight from the Lowcountry! I had a fine bowl of grits with yummy shrimp, but the best part was the three big ole pieces of catfish just packed with those good spices. Everybody had some fried chicken which were those yummy drummettes which took my tastebuds right back to the fellowship hall. My family loved the Three Sista Gurls chicken and waffles, the cornbread was fabulous and the collard greens could not have been tastier. You ve got to try this place out! Come early, they get busy because the locals know where the good food is.

Only one star because the food is actually quite pleasant but every time I have called to place my order they have been consistently rude over the phone and in person. I go to pick up my order and they switched my food with someone else and didn t even bother to check or make it right, waited 30 minutes just to speak with someone about getting my money back after they offered me the same messed up food and still expected me to pay after I even asked if it was free of charge, they told me yes and still didn t give me my money back. Update: 1 year later: 3 year old got food poisoning from the fish kids meal. The rest of my previous review still holds true but this time the chicken was overcooked as well. Not sure what the difference was from when they first opened but we will not return here. Original post: The portion sizes are definitely great. Im unsure if this time was a blooper but the fried chicken was too salty as was the pinto beans. The cornbread was way too sweet and a bit crumbly and the consistency of the cake (strawberry short) was perfect but it simply tasted sweet so that was a bit disappointing. In the past I had shrimp and grits, and catfish and those meals DELIVERED RIGHTFULLY, which is why I would return. I hope this time was just a happenstance because I do like their food overall.

I m a big grits guy, and the shrimp and grits was a big let down. The meal was very overpriced, being that it only came with 6 baby shrimp. The grits had little flavor, but onion and every bite . First time trying the smothered pork chops with cabbage and candid yams...oh my Gawd this plate is delicious! I was skeptical because everyone can not smother pork chops, but these chops are so tender. The 2 stars were for the service. The wait staff were friendly and attentive... But the food was nowhere near worth the hype or the 40 minute wait on a Sunday. I ordered(cafeteria style) the baked mushroom chicken with the rice, macaroni, cabbage, peach cobbler and black cherry tea(definitely was kool-aid). The chicken was perfectly cooked yet aggressively bland. The rice was flavorful but beyond overcooked. The cabbage was somehow sweet which still confuses me. The peach cobbler lacked flavor and the pastry was too dense and undercooked. The black cherry drink was pure sugar no flavor(my toddler took on sip and threw it. She eats and drinks EVERYTHING) But the biggest nope of all was the macaroni, it looked like potato au gratin but was horribly overcooked and tasteless. It was like mush with a side of cheese. I finished nothing and now I kinda hate chicken. My husband got the same but he liked the yams. We paid $55.13 for 2 plates, 3 drinks and 2 desserts that went to waste; the 2 kids fried fish and a Pepsi we got were the only things that were fully eaten. I stressed about this review because it s both veteran and black owned and I didn t want to stunt their business but I d feel worse if I let people spend their money on hyped disappointment. I tried to call in an order multiple times because due to COVID they only allow curbside pick up and the line was busy. I walked into the resturant and the female cook with glasses said well the line was busy and you can walk outside and place your order. Very nasty attitude. The food smelled great but she wasnt wearing a mask so not sure how sanitary the food will be being as the people in the kitchen werent wearing masks.

Im a regular from week one but Mother Bell, shes a fan favorite of the shrimp. sweet potatoes, greens, cabbage, mac & cheese and most of all, the cornbread! All that to say ALL the food is delicious!

This Restauant was recommended to me. I am not too familiar with Southern Cooking, but this place is very popular ... they sold out of cobbler and brownies a few days ago when I was there! Good for them! Ive been back a few times and there is always customers and beautiful and uplifting Christian music. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It can also come as a salad embedded in a leaf of lettuce topped with tomatoes. It comes with a side of Sun Chips and grapes.

absolutely awful management, employees were treated with such extreme disrespect it was ridiculous. the food is decent but overpriced for the portion size as mentioned by a previous review. not worth spending money at this restaurant, much more worth it to pay for portions that are worth the price; and support restaurants that treat their employees like human beings and not cogs in the machine.

This place is amazing, I have eaten here many of times and each time the service is great. Great staff and atmosphere, love going here with my family and friends. This place is very unprofessional I know someone who was working there they did not get paid promptly and was accused of stealing when they payed for the meal. Additionally the owners are unprofessional and untrained in their ways of handling business they are rude and crass in their way of paying employees hence the reason theyve had 71 different employees within the past year.

Nice little southern style restaurant. The staff was very friendly and showed me the to-go order before boxing it up. All the food looked great!! The table I was with said they enjoyed their food also. My son said he loved his order. Theres parking in the front and back of the restaurant. It sits in a shopping center on Stan Schlueter Loop right before Christian House of Prayer. This is a place wed order from again. There may be a slight wait for the waitress to get to you though. Also, during main meal times, especially on weekends, it might be crowded. Call ahead to order to go.

Food was excellent! Service was great as well with friendly staff and super fast service! I had the chicken salad with Sun Chips and fruit. the big house wings were very good, but thats all. service was not good. they were out of mountain dew. out of dr pepper, but instead of telling us they gave us rootbeer. did not check back for our drinks. they were out of cabbage, out of pinto beans, out of rice. we ordered mac n cheese and greens, they forgot them with our meal then had given all the greens. plate empty and still waiting for our sides. very unhappy with this establishment.
