Horrible food. Indian food if you dont know how to cook then learn it is easy. If one does not die of the food they will, with the service. It is 5 years since the bar closed and yet the restaurant has a bar word on it. Order the drinks on the menu, more than likely they dont have it. Not visiting again for sure!

*Updated January 2024, 4 Stars Down to 2 Stars; Older and more in depth review further below* The great food quality has remained the same but the service has gone to Trash. The service time for Dine In and Pick Up has gone through the roof. After eating here for the past almost two years I can say this place is moving in the wrong direction. *Spring 2023 - (4 Stars) The venue is a bit larger than what is needed, but with an increase in dine-ins it can fill out very well. The bar is closed down so currently no alcohol drinks. Their Butter Chicken with mild spice had a good amount of meat but the mild spice has zero flavor. I have tried the medium spice version and it is spicier than most other Indian restaurants, but still good. My wife liked their mild Lamb Tikka Masala. Their Garlic Naan is good but definitely could use some more garlic. It is nice, thin, and crispy. If you enjoy Indian food and are in the Killeen area definitely give this place a try. I definitely recommend it.

Omg! This food was delicious! The best Indian food I had in Texas! Trust me I have eating at many Indian restaurants in Texas! Today I had the chicken curry and the sweet naan! Omg the chicken tikka masala is soooooo good. I ordered that and garlic naan. It came with balsamic rice. Everything was so delicious. It was $21.59. Definitely worth it. This was my first time ordering here. I ordered to-go. I did have to wait a bit and the host explained to me that there was a big order placed. Which I understood. It was lunch time. I waited inside. A/C felt good in this Texas heat. I ve been living in Killeen for 2 years and I m bummed I did not come here sooner! I enjoyed this Indian food. I want to be brought here on my birthday or when I m sad . That s how happy this food made me lol. I definitely will be back again. Chicken portion was good. They gave me a lot of chicken. Came with 4 garlic naans. Everything is well seasoned and flavorful. Food was very warm. I like that you can choose mild or spicy for your palette. Waste of my time. Place an order over the phone ask about the shrimp rice (medium called back to make spicy) just to receive all other meats. Also ordered the shrimp curry medium, once calling back I stated I only want the shrimp rice spicy not the curry. Well the opposite was done of course, I m still hungry no refund not enough to get the food so here I am gone hungry money and time wasted. Never again!

Omgeezy...in Killeen for work. My coworkers and I Googleed Indian Restaurants and TAJ Restaurants popped up. It is a yes foe me all day every day. Went on Tuesday and will be going back tonight. The butter chicken and the hot garlic Naan, ridiculously amazing . If you do not check it out its your loss. Thank you TAJ for the excellent food and fantastic service.

This place used to be good. I don t know what happened with the quality? I ordered chicken tika masala, korma chicken and dahl soup. Everything tasted old and flavorless. The service was very good. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly. We ordered a lot of food because we didnt know how big the portions were. It was all very good. The portions were a great size and we ended up with leftovers. The saag paneer and malai kofta were our favorites. But the chicken Tikka tandoori was also really good. The price was also really great for a dinner for 5 people. I would definitely visit again when in the area. Kid-friendliness: They had a kids menu with a few options and provided a cup with a lid for our toddler.

Not even an apology for hair in my food, just a phone number to call to ask for a refund. Poor customer service. Do better. The response from the owner, Better luck next time drawing hair. I took those photos in your restaurant while I was on the phone with Door Dash. Ask the lady sitting at the host table. Im sure you know that because I overheard her on the phone with you, explaining why I was there for a refund. You just confirmed your lack of empathy for your customers (former customers). I ordered today then drove 20 minutes to get the food and upon arrival I was told the order did not go through. Well you took it over the phone soooo But I get it. We all make mistakes. I have been coming here every time I crave some indian food for some time now and I highly recommend their food and options, they are amazing. BUT I do not appreciate the service i get, I notice there s usually small amount of people dine in and sometimes it d be just me and my company. All 5 Stars.... this is my favorite cuisine after Cameroonian cuisine.... and I love this restaurant in particular. My everyday order is Lamb Korma sauce with Garlic Naan.... I wish they could ditch the rice and give an option to substitute it for naan. My sons order (hes 4) is buttered chicken and naan. I really wanted to like this place and tried it a second time and had the same experience plus my husband who picked up the food stated the gentlemen at the front was unprofessional and short with him. I ordered the chicken tikka masala twice and this is just not authentic. I have made homemade chicken tikka masala plus had a favorite authentic spot back home that I went to every Friday. It tastes like the canned tikka masala you buy at the store, the chicken is not cooked in the sauce but grilled (dry and hard chicken) and cubed, thrown in some canned sauce but the basmati rice is on point. I will add Indian dishes are complicated and it takes a lot of work to have an Indian food made fast food so I understand but there are some serious mistakes which just seems americanized, bland, watery, and wrong color. Not worth the $20 for a dish when I can go buy Pataks tikka masala from Walmart for cheaper. Im paying for authentic not canned. Suggestion: make garlic butter to brush on the Naan instead of cooking with garlic on the bread this causes the garlic to burn.

I ve never had Indian food besides simosas and we have been wanting to try it (thanks to tik tok) lol. This place did not disappoint, we got butter chicken, lamb makhani, simosas, and garlic naan and mannnnnn was it good. The portions are good sizes too. We had enough for 2 meals each. The food gets 3.5 stars because its tasty plus they dont have competition in the immediate area. I would go back because i like Indian food. Everything else gets 1 star - meaning that they dont answer the phone, the hours on the website and google dont actually match when they are open, the service is decent but not super friendly. The website & google state they close at 2:30. I got to the parking lot at 2:10 & they were very closed, but that they open at 3... so its unclear and they could improve on their communication.

When you search Taj Restaurant on Google it s says they close at 8 even on the website it says that so why when my fiancée orders food from this place around 7:10-7:20pm and get there at 7:30pm the place is already CLOSED it even said the pickup time was between 7:30 to 7:45pm..I don t even write reviews and I actually like the food at this place, just please change the time online if you close at 6pm then it should say that on your website and Google. We finally found an Indian restaurant that was authentic after two years of living in Texas! Everything they served was what we had hoped for and more. The staff were were friendly and attentive. Outstanding!! My wife and I were passing thru on the way home to Austin and we stopped in Killeen for lunch after running a 10k race in Waco in the morning. We were heading towards another restaurant based on Google when we spotted this diamond in the rough. Food was outstanding. They were short staffed but were very nice and we didnt mind the extra couple of minutes of waiting. We shared an entree of vegetable korma and vegetable biryani. For those of you who are vegetarian, we highly recommend both of them! For those of you who are meat eaters, we highly recommend both of them . Vegetarian options: Outstanding!! Will come again if in the neighborhood.

My husband and I ate there a day ago.. and my husband had never tried Indian food other than trying my frozen butter chicken.. well we are both a huge fan of this restaurant. The butter chicken was delicious.. and so was the Naan.. I think my husband had the mixes plate.. cant remember the name but it was rice with chicken, lamb, and shrimp!! Its was so good!! Today was our first day going here. My husband and I just moved here about a month ago and have been finding it hard to find restaurants that we genuinely enjoy. This place hit it out of the park! The food here is delicious and the service was awesome! So many dishes to choose from. My husband got the chicken tikka masala and I got the paneer tikka masala and it was some of the best we ve ever had! We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu! Food is good, and I usually order it for pick-up during the day, but the last 2 times I tried to dine-in in the evening, they would say they were closed even though it was before 8:30, people were inside eating or waiting on pick-up orders, and their open sign was on. Inconsistent closing times in the evening, so go early if you want to be able to dine in.

There was still more left than this, but this is two chicken curry s and one garlic naan. For 2 adults and one child. We got a medium chicken curry and a spicy chicken curry. Pros: -Food is delicious -Ambiance is nice -Portion and price are appropriate Cons: -A roach crawled across our table, from my plate across to my childs plate. My son got his food several minutes before me, so he ate a few of his nuggets and fries. My food just came out and I tasted a spoonful, when the roach showed up. So, I only got to eat the appetizer I purchased prior to receiving my meal. The appetizer and the spoonful were so delish! -The one waiter there is unpleasant, and seems bothered to answer questions about the menu -No refund or even a discount were offered, just that they put the medicine down and that this brings them out. I didnt ask, but thats usually standard, especially for food that was not eaten! -Not smaller-child or picky-child-eater friendly. The picture of the mac and cheese looked out of the box, so I asked; and it is. The nuggets are frozen as well. The place doesnt look dirty at all, but they do have roaches. I wouldnt mind coming back when they get that taken care of.

Finally got to try this place after many failed attempts and missing their hours! I usually got to Roopas in Temple, and as a creature of habit I always get the butter chicken w/ garlic naan. Taj Restaurants butter chicken blew me away it was so delicious!!! It is significantly sweeter than Roopas but in the best way. I would definitely give it a try!

When I walked in I was a little scared. The restaurant decor could use some TLC, but the food and service was really good. I recommend the Ali Goba dish. If you are not a spicy food eater try mild first - I ordered medium and almost hallucinated - not really but it was a bit spicy for my tolerance level - I still finished the whole dish!!

So my first time eating Indian food & I tried 4 appetizers, the soup, the fried cheese, the samosas, & the Chaat Samosas & I also ordered the garlic naan..I enjoyed everything besides the fried cheese(no flavor, no cheesy texture, no good) which I would never order again. The next day I had some of the leftover soup & Chaat Samosas & it was even better! Very flavorful since the flavors had more time to drop & develop. Will go back to try the lamb next time!
