I was referred to James Alston after I had issues with my other lawyer. I knew James was a top tier lawyer when I showed up to court with him, and every single lawyer there knew who he was. From that point, I knew I was in good hands. James is a people person. Anything I had to say, no matter how stupid it was, he listened. Obviously being crimminaly charged is very stressful. After hours of researching about 10 plus attorneys and speaking with 2-3 I immediately knew that Mr. Alston was a God sent as soon as I researched his experience, success rates, reviews from previous clients and upon speaking with him. The very first time I spoke with him over the phone I felt at ease about a legal situation regarding my daughter. He listened to me and respectfully spoke to me regarding the situation at hand. Not once did he ever make me feel less than a person, disrespected nor looked down upon unlike another local attorney that is contacted for a consult regarding the issue. From day one, Mr. Alston assisted me and guided me. Anytime I called or sent a message he promptly responded even if it was late within the evening and he needed to speak to me the following day he never left me wondering or feeling hopeless. He took the time to thoroughly explain to me what I should expect along the process, the possible outcomes as well as the estimated frame of time. This experience is what I celebrate in my personal victory. With his negotiation I got 10 years for a crime that usually carries 15 to 20 years or more in prison. After I served approximately 6 months, he negotiated with the prosecutor and filed a motion for shock probation. We got a hearing and the judge granted the shock probation motion. I am free. James Alston represented me for felony charges related to obtaining a controlled substance by self-prescribing. James expeditiously prepared a pretrial diversion proposal for the district attorney who approved the proposal. From start to end my case lasted only 15 months and was dismissed. My medical license and prescriptive authority through the DEA were never restricted; I am still a practicing physician. In addition, James successfully assisted me in obtaining a TWIC - Transportation Worker Identity Credential despite having a disqualifying offense. My son needed an experienced and professional lawyer and Mr. Alston was the attorney.
