We visited the museum today. The staff were very nice and patiently introduced us to the history of Katy. The museum itself was fascinating, with many antiques on display.

A fantastic museum that spreads knowledge about Old Katy. Very informative and interesting displays and discussions with the staff. Sharon has been wonderful to share about any displays and suggests little activities for kids. Richard works on the trains which are the biggest attraction for toddlers and each train holds a historical information. Josh has been great explaining the functions of some of the displays. Definitely a great place for kids to learn history about Katy.

Definitely recommend visiting when you are staying in Houston/Katy. I found the museum on Google Maps and the experience was beyond all my expectations. Their collection is super interesting, especially because of the personal stories behind all objects. Also, the volunteers really add great value to the museum. Their stories were super interesting, and they were so kind to show me around. The knowledge and passion that they have is enormous and makes the experience complete. In short, one of the best activities around Houston and I would definitely recommend this! Thank you once again!

I took my Girl Scout troop to the museum as a field trip, and they loved it! Josh, who runs the museum was super accommodating, knowledgeable, great with the girls, and helpful. He gave the girls a scavenger hunt, which they loved! He and a docent also took time to show the girls different exhibits and let them have some hands on time with a few of them. I highly recommend this gem in Old Katy.

The Katy Heritage Museum is a treasure trove of local history. Staff members Josh and Sharon were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to answer all of our questions. Our first visit was so enjoyable, we returned a week later to check out more of the interesting displays. A separate facility housed in the restored MKT depot on First Street focuses on Katys railroad heritage. It is without question one of the finest depot restorations in the state of Texas.

A very interesting museum to learn about this beautiful city Katy, very clean, tidy, a very kind gentleman who explained to us how Katy was founded and was restoring a model that will represent what the city was like, with its little trains, models of the warehouses of rice, fuel pumps, etc., a very meticulous job, and beautiful and curious!!! Admission to the museum is free and very entertaining!

The museum was very organized and clean. The exhibitions were well taking care of. They have a lot of interesting pieces of phones, magazines, cars and many others different objects from the history of Katy. They also have a small park outside where you may walk and see the old houses they have. Unfortunately they didnt have access to see them inside. Theres a gazebo as well. It is nice for a photoshoot. The entrance is completely free. When we went it was empty. We were the only ones there (in the museum and at the park).

Drove a little ways to get here and it says they are open Thursday-Sunday 11am-5pm. Got here, sat outside for 10 minutes AFTER opening hours and the door was still locked. NO SIGN stating they are closed or anything for Covid. They should be more clear with people traveling out of state.

Im giving this museum a low rating because of the employee we met during our visit on November 25, 2018 between 4.35pm and 4.55pm. We arrived at the museum around 4.35pm and the attendant did not even respond to our greeting instead he gave us this look of disgust and turned his face right back to his computer. We gave ourselves a short tour around the museum and as we approached the door to exit, he got up and walked briskly into the inner rooms as if to go inspect the museum before we left. If he gets to read this review, I hope he deals with the personal issues he has inside. Its definitely a sad thing for you to carry on with life being angry at others because they differ slightly from you. If you chose to be an attendant at a museum the least quality you should display(meaning if you have to fake it...you fake it) is courtesy.
