This place is AUTHENTIC beyond any Jamaican Restaurant I ve ever been to in Texas. As a person coming from Flatbush, in Brooklyn, NY.. IYKYN! The place is clean. The staff are friendly. Nice parking. Large portions. Definitely worth the drive and $. If a 10 was possible I d give them 10. Now, I don t have to hop on a flight home to get real Caribbean food. They ve created a regular here.

Ordered the dark meat jersey chicken, yams, plantains, and coco bread. Meat is literally falling off the bone. Got my food to go so jerk sauce was put on the side. Very relaxed atmosphere. Great place to watch sports and hang out with friends. The person who took my order was friendly and took the time to explain to me what is coco bread. I ordered when I arrived so had to wait for my food to get prepared fresh. A lady came out and gave me an update on the time it would take for my food to get ready. Im not from the area so I wasnt in a rush. They had a steady flow of traffic coming through the door, mostly picking up food. But that was my indication that the food but be a local fine cuisine.

Here in DFW for the 1st. After a relaxing day I looked for something to eat for about an hour until I came across Roland s and I am SO glad I did. Made me have flashbacks of the Jerk Chicken shack we ate at Everyday when we were in Jamaica. The reviews before mine were on point. This place is an Absolute MUST eat at if you re ever in this area. I had the Jerk Chicken platter with rice & beans and cabbage as my 2 sides. I also ordered 2 beef Pattie s (also had them in Jamaica). I felt like I ate a lot BUT I have a huge portion left for lunch tomorrow. Anyway, I m not a sales person so all I can say is try it for yourself and you definitely won t be disappointed. I will say I m SO glad I didn t order that pizza

I was going to say if you live in Dallas, but truth be told, if you live in a place that starts with a letter, find a way to go to Roland s. My GAWD. Everything was so good. EVAHREETHANG. Normally, I d be able to give a thorough review including wait time, but I dined in on an evening where I deliberately had nothing else to do, and I m glad. The vibe is very casual, the customer service was great (very friendly but not overbearing), multiple screens with various sports events (I went during the 2024 Olympics), a bar, tables (high and low) and just some of the most well seasoned, delicious food I ve had in a long time. I was tempted to go back every single day that I was in town but I couldn t. Chicken? Crispier and more flavorful (not just salty) than Popeye s, yams were perfect, not too sweet, the cabbage had me ready to go in the back and grab an apron just to spy on the recipe. Seriously, I was thinking have I had (or made) al dente cabbage before? Not where the cabbage has had it s next seven lives soaked from it? I had not, until Roland s. Now, it s the standard. Is the cabbage al dente , is what I m gonna be hollering in Jamaican restaurant from now on before ordering. That s a joke. I would never. Because I like my feelings being in tact. Yeah, so lastly, let s talk about the sauce on these oxtails and how good the oxtails were. No, let s not talk about it because I don t have the words for how good it was. It s go, good. Now, good. They are not open, so wait until they are, good. It s stop what you re doing, stop driving to whatever other restaurant you were headed to, stop being a vegan, vegetarian, walk from Canada, get there and order the oxtails I don t care where you are in the whole wide world good. I could keep going, but I won t. But you should. Go. Go, all the time. Take trains, planes and automobiles and get to this place. While you re there ask if you can grab an apron and get a few of those recipes for me because WHAT?!? Stop reading and go.

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally ordered off Uber Eats and they did not disappoint! I ordered the jerk chicken with rice & peas and cabbage, plus one of the meat pies and the ripe plantains. Everything was delicious! The only thing I didn t like was all splintered chicken bones I had to sort through. Other than that, I loved the food and will definitely eat here again.

I live in Frisco, and there arent any Caribbean places out my way, so Im constantly on the hunt for a good Jamaican spot or something similar. Heard about this place from a friend. Rolands is simply the best Caribbean cuisine in the metroplex. Seriously, its better than Aldeez and Jamaica Gates. I shouldve taken pictures of the food, but I was too busy stuffing my face. The staff were friendly and helpful. I got ox tail, and my wife got chicken wings that were Yardbird sized, lol. A go-to spot, for sure. Parking: Located in a cramped strip mall. But finding parking isnt too difficult-even with the crowding.

Irving doesn t have many good hearty specialty cuisine restaurants. So when I find one, I must share. Give this place a try. I suggest going in to see their most current menu. Today I went on GrubHub to order ahead of time and when I arrived, I looked over the menu and discovered they had so many more options. Now I know, and I will be going back. Reasonably priced as well.

THIS is THE PLACE. I got a little bit of everything, but it came in with lot of everything! Jerk Chicken HIT THE SPOT. the smokiness and perfectly cooked meat falls off the bone slaps hard. I used the sauce provided to slather over my rice and peas. Oxtails were great, 2nd time having it ever but it was also soft! The curry chicken is tasty with a kick of heat in the curry. If you like curry, its up your alley. Greens Good, mac and cheese Good, Rice, Good! Each entree came with its own unique sauce to accommodate the feast. I am hungry thinking about this at 1am. I will go back ( too dangerously close to home)

Today June 18,2024 was my first time visiting this restaurant. I d been craving some good Jamaican oxtail. The plate was $27.00 and the oxtail itself was not the best flavor wise but was edible. Upon eating my food I saw something that I thought was a bay leaf in my oxtail so I pulled it out only to see it was a water bug! I am disgusted and I feel violated!! This has NEVER EVER happened to me! My mom called the restaurant only to experience rude customer service after they were told of the situation. The owner later called and apologized for this, but honestly this was not enough. I m honestly sick and do not recommend this restaurant.

This is my 3rd time ordering from Roland s and will be my last. I placed my order today the 27th of May 2024 at least 30 minutes before arriving to pick it up as I ve done before. Anyways, I walk into the restaurant and there was only 1 individual working in the front who was slow as can be. I mean, the man was so slow and taking his sweet time as people had nothing else better to do. After 15 minutes of waiting in line, it finally was my turn and the total for my food came out to be $45 . Let me tell you all, WHAT A WASTE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY AND TIME! NEVER AGAIN! The jerk chicken LACKED seasoning and was just plain ol bbq chicken, the cabbage lacked seasoning AS WELL! I was served bland cabbage! And for some odd reason, they only have me 4 pieces of jerked chicken , but decided to fill my plate up with the rice & peas. I wish I went to Wendy s and spent $18 on food instead ! Never again.

First of all my only complaint, it s too much food, I am falling asleep at work. Everyone is asking if I am okay, why am I smiling so much. This is one of the most delicious stew chicken I have eaten in a while. Compliments to Mr. Roland, the Chefs, the wonderful staff for taking the time to produce such a lovely meal. People the (TUESDAYS ONLY 2 for $20 is back). This is crazy to me, I paid $17 for the meal, and you are telling me 2 for $20 on Tuesday. This is such a great deal I got it !!! Awesomeness!

Oxtails, Greens, Mac N Cheese, Plantains & and a Pineapple Soda. All bombtasic! I even had my sister with me who got the Jerk Chicken plate. The Jerk Chicken was delectable! The Oxtails were both tender & savory! The Greens were also tender, well seasoned with a kick! Mac N Cheese came out with the baked, crispy edges! Lastly, the Plantains tasted like they were cooked in loved - Sweet, crispy yet caramelized goodness! If you are looking for good home-cooked, authentic, Jamaican food, drop by this spot! The customer service is excellent. The restaurant is a clean, quaint, Mom & Pop shop. There was hardly anyone there in the parking lot at first. Then, out of nowhere it was packing with people coming in & out in a reasonable timeframe. We had a short 5-10 minute wait before getting our food & devouring it in the truck. 10/10, highly recommend!

Ahh-maaa-zing! The food here is on point! From the ox tails, the jerk chicken, plantains, greens, mac & cheese......my only complaint is that the yams had far too much spice (maybe nutmeg, cloves, etc). It was very overbearing. This place still deserves a 5-star rating EASY! Loved it! The service & people were great as well....very friendly!

This past Friday was my first time visiting Roland s and let me say, I wasn t disappointed at all. I ordered the half jerk chicken plate with rice and peas and yams, cocoa bread and carrot cake with a ginger pineapple drink. My bestie got the jerk wings with fries (5 count). The food was hot and fresh and so delicious. It s seasoned to perfection. I wasn t disappointed with anything. Our waitress provided great customer service and the atmosphere is laid back and chill. It started getting busy soon after we made it which was about 530. I will definitely be visiting again real soon!

I had to give the food 1 stars because the portion of oxtails was not sufficient to be charging almost $30. It seems like the price of everything is sky high but product is steadily shrinking. I spent around $28 for an oxtail plate and got a $10-12 plate of oxtails. People don t realize that $30 for a single plate is expensive! Let s beef up the food portions guys! Besides that the atmosphere and the customer service was 5 star! Update: I tried this place one more time and I was just as disappointed as the first time. They literally gave me 3 little oxtail bones for $30!!!!! I ll never come here again!!!

Whenever I traverse out of Lubbock to Dallas I have to eat Caribbean food. I decided to try Roland s and boy was it money well spent. Between my sister and I we got 2 oxtails plate with rice and peas and bake macaroni, 2 goat roti, 2 chicken roti, 1 half chicken, 1 coco bread, 1 beef Patti, 1 side of plantains and 2 passion fruit juice to wash it down. The oxtails were fall of the bone soft. The chicken and goat roti were well seasoned and had just the right amount of spice. The passion fruit juice tasted like it had a little too much syrup. I didn t care too much for the Mac and cheese but my brother in law loved it. Overall, I enjoyed the food and will be back once I m in Dallas. Customer service was also A1 from ordering over the phone to the lady bringing the food outside for us. Didn t get to take a picture cause me yam the food as soon as me get it.

I had Roland s for the first time today. I ordered via Uber Eats so I can t rate the dine-in experience. I ordered the oxtails, rice & peas, cabbage, and plantains. It was so good and fresh. The rice wasn t dry and clumped up. There was a good portion of oxtail and gravy. The cabbage was well seasoned also. The plantains were good but they didn t taste as fresh as everything else. They included a small side of oxtail gravy and scotch bonnet hot sauce, without my request. They also included utensils in my bag. I only mention that because lately my orders (from other restaurants) never have utensils and it usually food that definitely needs a spoon or fork. So thank you Roland s. Will definitely try this place again.

Before trekking back down 1-35, we stopped at Rolands Jamaican Chicken (RJC) for a bite of the West Indies. Were happy to say it was worth the stop. RJC is in a strip mall off Belt Line Rd within minutes of DFW. I recommend it if you have a long layover and can stop in. When we arrived at about 11:30AM, only one woman staff member took to-go and dine-in orders. While simultaneously jotting down orders, she would have to stop to pack an order, check out someone dining in, and attempt to seat new arrivals like us. She did so with patience and grace, which we returned. It took her a while to get to us, but she was very polite when she did. I appreciated the clean, spacious, and minimally decorated interior. TVs on the walls give you something to watch while youre waiting. Eventually, two more servers showed up to help with the lunch rush. We ordered a beef patty and coco bread to start, along with sorrel and Kola Champagne to drink. The beef patty wasnt homemade. It tasted like the frozen beef patties I ate growing up in NYC. But that doesnt mean I disliked the beef patty; it just wasnt over-the-top impressive. The coco bread tasted stale and of the plastic film it was wrapped in. Making the coco bread the same morning will minimize extended contact with the plastic while the coco bread is under the warming lamps. This will fix that plastic taste I experienced. For our entrees, we ordered the curried goat and chose rice and peas with steamed cabbage (2 sides come with the entrees) and oxtail with mac and cheese and plantains. The mac and cheese was an additional charge, and after tasting it, it wasnt worth the additional money. It had a strong flavor of MSG or something similar; it was also unnaturally orange. It wasnt the worst mac and cheese, but it wasnt pleasant. I wouldnt order it if I returned. The oxtail and curried goat were absolutely divine. AND THEY GAVE ME EXTRA GRAVY without making me feel like I slapped their mother. IYKYK. The oxtail was plump, big, and fall-off-the-bone tender. The curried goat was also tender and not at all gamey. The rice and peas were okay. I just wish it had more coconut flavor and a smidge more spice. The cabbage was addicting. I would probably order two portions of that if I go back. Plantains are plantains, so theyre not difficult to mess up unless youre trying. I recommend RJC and will stop back next time were up north.

This was my first time ordering from Rolands due to a recommendation from a coworker. I ordered the beef patty as well as chicken stew with rice and fried plantains as sides. Everything was well seasoned, but the stew had a bit more oil than I anticipated. Still tasty however. Add you can see from the pictures, the portion sizes are generous. I recommend trying Rolands if craving Jamaican cuisine. 1/6/2024 update: I ordered from Rolands again and this time tried the Jamaican jerk chicken and Jamaican curry chicken. As you can see from the pictures, their portion sizes are generous. Each dish was nicely flavored and seasoned. Ill definitely be ordering from here again.
