Majority of the time the school is not focused on what is important. The assistant principal has the teachers to do her dirty work. She is very vindictive. On several occasions she has failed to resolve any issues concerning students. On several occasions while picking my child up I have heard several teachers talk to the students as if they were trash telling them they act like they have no common sense or yelling in a child s face that they will embarrass them. My child was written up several times and harassed about his tennis shoes even so after having a meeting with the assistant principal and all his teachers explaining he would have new shoes by the end of the week. They agreed but in the next days to come they kept bothering him about his shoes or making comments to him about them which i did not understand if you all had already had a conversation with me in regards to the shoes. Also after the meeting i was made aware that the assistant principal told the teachers to write him up everyday he comes to school with those shoes on . Which was shocking because she did not say this in the meeting let alone to me. She just has the teachers do her dirty work. Even while in parent/teacher meetings she is always whispering to the teachers which is very odd and uncomfortable considering we are all in the meeting together obviously to speak and have open conversations. The curriculum is great at Universal Academy. The principle is also a very sweet and understanding women. There are def a lot of things that need to be worked on in this school though. There is a handful of teachers including the assistant principle (Ms.Plumber) in which i would not trust. This and many other reasons have caused me to go ahead and withdraw my 2 children. I also have a friend who withdrew her child early on in the school year for some of the same reasons!

I was in UA from Kindergarten to 6th grade, and I am thankful for the amazing experience. Although I dont attend the school now, it will always be a vivid part of my memory. All the teachers are committed to helping the students prosper, and are great for emotional support. I met some of my favorite teachers here: Coach Denson, Mr. and Mrs. G, Mrs.Baig, Mrs. Adams, and Mrs.Orions. The school offered entertaining activities like ACES(We could choose 3 classes like cooking, art, or dance to take every Friday), Trade day(Each class would make a service or item that cud be sold, numerous Field Trips(Hurricane Harbor, Austin, Camping), and had amazing Theater and Choir performances in the Multipurpose room. I felt thoroughly engaged and challenged during my time here. The school has a tight knit community of students who are welcoming and kind. Compared to other schools the lunch food is also quite decent. I was excited every day to wake up to go to school , and although its true that they challenge you academically, they prepares you for the future and the work doesnt seem overwhelming. I almost always had time after school to go outside and play. Further the school has several assemblies and recreational activities that students love. The school is quite project based(I made volcanoes, planetary systems, and science fair projects), and therefore fosters social development and interaction between the students. Once again, I am extremely thankful for the experience I received at UA and made life long friends, I really miss the school!! :) - Shreya

This school is ran like a damn prison. My child lasted one day before we pulled him out. He was so petrified from his experience and how he was treated when we picked him up as I witnessed school personell screaming at other upset students like they were worthless human beings. Right from the start as I am bringing a huge expensive box of school supplies to my childs class, a lady acting like a damn corrections officer was yelling at me and my wife to get out of the school. Mind you this was the first day. De-enrolling him was another experience in which the school employee gave an attitude. WHAT A MISTAKE WE MADE. If you plan on your child going to prison and thinks he will need practice, this is the school for your child. If you want your child to have fun in school while learning with loving and personable teachers and employees. Then stay away from the prison of a school. PS- The new public school we are sending our child to reviewed shot records and noticed he was missing a required Hep shot. This is something universal academy likely never reviewed, they dont care. After finding out this school has many innocent children that especially require these shots since they came here recently from foreign nations, you would think they would have found that our child was missing a required Hep shot. Horrible, unsafe institution to have a loved child in. I just hope new people moving to Irving that are looking for a new school for kindergarten or even any grade above read these negative reviews. great school overall. i think kids here are actually taught well and are more advanced than other schools in grades pre-k thur 5th. 6th-12th, there are a few gem teachers, but there are also the ones who are waayy under qualified or just dont try to teach. (4th-HS grad)

As a former student the relationship between a student and teacher is amazing. My opinion is; if your child is not raised or treated in a respectable manner do not go to this school because they will be educated on how to be treated or treat people. Education is of the most impotant. One of the best in the nation. When it comes to my son he will be going there no matter what

For those people who say that school is ugly and old. No matter how old or ugly it looks from the outside, you always have to check the education given to the students. . I am very grateful to the principals of the school because they have helped my children a lot by educating them correctly and when it comes to the emotional mind, the counseling is excellent. I do recommend it. Today December 7, 2015 I thank my sons teachers, especially the director, for caring about my son and giving us as parents the attention and support of our childrens education. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. MIS, JACKSON, MR. PEOPLE, MIS, MORENO AND EVERYONE ELSE.

I LOVE this school and I have NEVER had a bad experience! The teachers Care and if the parents attend the parent meetings that take place every month any and all concerns can be addressed and resolved! The school teaches the importance of education, life skills , respect for oneself and others! This is a great school that encourages parent involvement and provides a nurturing foundation
