My friend and I both had nachos (beef fajita and chicken fajita). The chips were so tough you couldnt cut them, the chicken fajita meat was very dry, and there was very little cheese. We both ordered tea with extra ice, and when our drinks arrived, there was very little ice it was as if they werent even listening to us. I ordered a tea to go, and when I picked the cup up, it was so flimsy that the lid popped off and tea went everywhere. Because we couldnt get anyone to acknowledge us, I went to the ladies room and got paper towels to clean it up myself. Very bad experience and not what I expected from Rio Grande.

Widely recommended, good food, good facilities, excellent service, the place is a little hidden but you can get there well. Parking: Ample parking, as it is a busy place it is a bit tedious to walk from where you leave the car to the restaurant since the only places available to park the car are far from the entrance.

We ve been to this location several times because it s so close and we really wanted to like it which is why we tried giving it many chances but unfortunately we re not impressed. Let s see Queso does not have real much flavor, carne guisada plate was just okay I would think for the price they have it for it would taste a bit better and the fact that 20 percent of the plate is the meat and the other 80 they have rice and beans does not sell me on it. Flour tortillas and corn tortillas do not taste like they are home made. Worst part was that I asked for some lemon wedges for both my water and chicken soup and a nice .75 cents was charged because lemon wedges are considered a side. I m sorry but not even just as a Hispanic just as a human being what ? That was just ridiculous and honestly such a new low for a business to even do it. Not even the most expensive restaurants in NYC would charge you for lemon wedges let alone in the Rio Grande Valley I understand times are tough but really ? End all be all if you want to enjoy or not enjoy just okay Tex Mex food bring your own lemon wedges or limes next time you stop by because they will charge you for it.

The food was average, but the service was subpar to down right rude. My friend was asking about the spice level of some of the dishes, which yeah I get can be annoying, but this is your job as a waitress, and our waitress rolled her eyes at her and acted visibly annoyed about it. I wanted to give the place a second chance and went with my husband and our dog. I had both wait outside and went in to ask the hostess if dogs could be on the patio and was told no. Fair enough, if that is your companies policy, then thats it. However, when I was in the area later there were dogs on the patio, so was it just my dog that wasnt allowed? Either way, it was frustrating.

The old man that tends bar on Sundays is 1 in a million! Chips and salsa is always a hit and I am a salsa snob. The food is fairly average and not bad in any way, but the mixed parillada is ALWAYS firing on all cylinders. I always bring my crew from work and I wont stop.

I m still confused how a dinner of two entrees, one draft beer and one margarita ended up being $80. We didn t get the pitchers too, we got the smaller sizes. Deceptive how they whited out all the drinks prices. The waiter was a space case who would lose his head if it were not attached. On June 29 2024 I took my family out for dinner.... Service was the worse!!!! Food nasty, We asked for Caldo de Res it was cold, the tortillas, and the rice too!! I ask for Chile relleno and it was like 2/3 pieces like boiled pepper with cheese melted on the plate!!! Ask for the mix fajitas and was mostly french fries and cold too!!! I ask the waitress to take my chile relleno plate back !!! And she never ask why She just take it back to the kitchen, She never come back to ask me for a different plate or offering something else, very disappointed I paid $156.00 dlls including a tip for over $20 or so!!! Very disappointed plus I pay cash and I have to wait for more than 15 mins to get my change back, I have to call the manager to get my change!!!

Sadly Rio has been steadily going downhill. Multiple times on pickup I ve had to go back up there because the food wasn t cooked correctly. Last time I ordered fajita tacos they was TWO small pieces of beef per taco. This is my final visit here- the breading on the stuffed avocado was raw. I some with the manager about this- no apology, no attempt to make it right. I was told that if I drove back up there, they would replace it. 30 minutes out of my evening because of their incompetence, and not even a sorry . That s not a lot of options in Hutto so you might end up having to go here, but my advice is to check your food closely.

So this is a place we ve been plenty of times to good food, nice place, etc. but, why the 1 star? Well on a Sunday after church we go to eat there with around 20 people. When we get there, they tell is that parties over 14 need to sit outside first of all, I NEVER heard of any restaurants doing something like this to their customers. Usually we always get accommodations. 2nd it was super hot in Texas, felt like 105. Then we tell them; hey we have a new born and it s too hot for him. can we get accommodation inside? The host told me; no, there s nothing we can do umm yeah right take a look at the picture, they had this section all cleared and could have easily accomodate us, but decided not to. We said; no problem, we ll go to Chili s. This was very disappointing and they decided to lose over $500 of business just cause they didn t want to sit us inside. I hope the owner is reading this. I hope you fix this rule and make this optional rather than mandatory. We would hate stop going here because of small things like this. It s too hot for little kids, especially new born babies. It s only human to take things like these into consideration

Rio Grande is by far the best Mexican food in the US. When on vacation, we always make it a point to stop here. We were traveling in our motorcoach, pulled in to their parking lot, parked, and turned the generator on so we could stay cool with air conditioning. The husband went in and ordered our food to go, even got to carry out a cocktail for each of us. These drinks were the bomb! Premium frozen Mango Margarita and Premium Mexican Martini. Our appetizers were Queso and to die for Shrimp Diablo. He had Carne Asada, and I had a lunch special #1. This was the best dinner EVER, just us and our Minni Golden Doodle, enjoying the view from our coach. #bestvacationever Parking: We found the perfect spot to park our coach.

Rio Grande Tex Mex is a great place to eat, they have delicious food and a nice patio for the cool evenings. My only complaint, and why we don t go more, is because they won t let us take our dog on the patio, even tho their google site says dog friendly. They used to, but the last time I went they refused and we had to go elsewhere. Not enough to take off a star, because this is about food, but I really wish they would go back to allowing dogs on their patio, I miss going here.

Was there Friday for our monthly(?) Company meeting. It was my first one. From the staff, to the food, to the service, to the atmosphere was so absolutely fantastic!! We had the best breakfast foods available to us, buffet style. Barbacoa was absolutely fantastic!! The fajita meat was super good and tender, and the beans were out of this world good!!! Fresh fruit too!!! Its such a cool atmosphere!! We were set up at the outside bar area. And except for the fact that it was 7AM and the bar wasnt open....it was a really cool atmosphere. Cannot wait to go back for happy hour and dinner some time with my husband!!!! One hundred percent recommend this place!!!

A little hard to find without GPS but well worth it. The food was delicious, salsa and chips never stopped coming! The drinks were pretty good too! So glad to hear they survived Covid, unlike some other Mexican food places. Parking: Virtually no parking in front of restaurant but theres space out in the lot, if you dont mind walking a bit. Food - Bland. Forgettable. Ordered fajita tacos, 1 chicken, 1 beef. Ordered queso. It was regular. Black beans not good. Again, bland. Rice, among the worst I ve had. No flavor. Ordered an app with a bunch of of different things. Potatoes were good, but that was the only thing. Wanted to like this place, but bleh. The margaritas were a bit too sweet. Had one regular on the rocks and one spicy. Drinkable, not enjoyable. Won t eat here again even though it s only 1 of 2 Mexican restaurants near by. Will try Julio s next. Worth a drive to La Margarita in Round Rock about 15-20 minutes away where you can get a 4.5/5. This is definitely a 2/5 at best. Service - Got the food really quick, maybe a little too quick. After that, we didn t see the waitress for 45 minutes. She was really nice, but only there to take an order. No empathy, just a nice order-taker. I m writing this review and am still waiting for the check. Atmosphere - Great space. Open and a huge bar. Nice patio space. Loud for kids, and a large mix of people. Would recommend some music. Not sure if there was any playing because of the crowd ambience. Small bathrooms, enough parking. Summary - If you d rather not go to the local Chili s for queso and a margarita, this might do as a substitute.

I thought we try this restaurant,but man I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. First off our waiter rushed us to order, the Mexican martini was so bad my husband had to send it back. Delicious tex-mex location and great Salas and chips. We got the toasty burrito and the grande burrito and both were very filling and very yummy to pur tummies Going again P.s Our server David did very well and was on top of things as well as food came out so fast! Thank you staff!

Have probably dined here 300 times between the Hutto and Pfluggerville locations over the years. Remarkably consistent, great staff, super fast, solid value. This is the Tex mex stop for us, hands down. Wheelchair accessibility: Large ramps. Close handicap parking spaces
