My friend and I decided to go to lunch here. We got complementary good tortilla chips and 3 kinds of salsa.There is a good variety of meals on the menu. Carol had spinach and cheese stuffed chicken. It came with rice and salad. I had Combo 9 with sliced brisket with sliced sausage. It came with a side sweet corn kernels in a creamy sauce and flavored mashed potato with bacon bits. We had a chocolate cheesecake which came with a little vanilla ice cream. Everything was of a really good quality! So Ive been back a couple of more times. Each time the meal has been excellent. Today, I had flautas and chile con queso. The portions are good and the food is really, really good. There is a wonderful cucumber & lime sweet and refreshing drink that they serve here. You cant get this great quality of food just anywhere. The flan served with vanilla ice cream and caramel is just heavenly! I started using delivery service to get this great food brought to my home.

I was impressed the moment I set foot in the restaurant. It was well decorated and very clean. The staff was very professional, pleasant and very accommodating. The food was amazing and served in big portions! I am so very happy to have such a wonderful restaurant nearby! I absolutely love the dishes and the small touches such as complimentary fruit with your order. The chips and salsa was through the roof!

The drinks are amazing and I love the frozen cups they came in! Great portions! A little pricey but worth it. The food was great except for the spicy queso on my mashed potatoes and broccoli. My husband ate what I didn t and loved it.

This is the fifth time we have visited. Each time is better and better. Today Gabriel took great care of us. The meals start with a house soup that is always good. The margaritas are great. I keep trying new things and like them. Today I had the melt in the mouth brisket. My wife loves the bacon shrimp and gets that every time. The restaurant is relatively new, and each time the staff gets better.

This place was definitely a surprise! Clients mentioned that I should check out Texas Grill 49 after I had a less than spectacular experience at Saltgrass the other night. It s location is a bit deceiving because you drive away from a commercial area into what appears to be a middle class neighborhood and only to come up to a strip mall that features nails, a salon, a bar and Vietnamese pho. I was also confused that this was a steakhouse with a Mexican theme. Texas Grill 49 has a pretty extensive dinner and cocktail menu , decent prices, and generous portions . My server was Chris and he was friendly, attentive , and efficient! I ordered the Grilled Rosemary Prime Beef, essentially a 12 ounce New York strip medium with a double side of steamed broccoli. Chips and salsa were also served with my sweet tea and water order. I could usually polish off my meal and hit a dessert, but I simply didn t have any more room for it. The steak was fantastic and cooked as I requested. It was even better than the one I had at Saltgrass the other night. Compliments to the chef and thanks to Chris and the host for an amazing dining experience! I highly recommend Texas Grill 49! You can thank me later!

This has been the best dining experience! The service, the food, and the drinks are off the charts! As soon as we approached the entrance, the door was opened for us and we were greeted with professionalism and warmth. It was so nice having them serve us water and giving us fruit of our choice to add to the water. Thats not even all of it; I mentioned in conversation with someone I was dining with that I had never tried green posole before but always wanted to and next thing I know theyre bringing an appetizer of it! The food was very well made, the waiter was very kind, attentive, and skilled. We ordered alcoholic drinks and the sweetness did not take away from its impact-if you know what I mean (we got candy shots and mango margaritas). Every part of this dining experience was personal, thought out, and intentional. Very happy we came here and will make this a go to spot. The restaurants ambiance is very mellow, and classy. The cleanliness is amazing. The atmosphere is great. If youre looking for quality dining service in every aspect I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

My breakfast experience was not so good today! Our server was very slow, inexperienced and my over easy eggs were way over cooked as you can see in the picture and I asked for no onions and the chilaquiles were covered in onions! This place has great food and the service used to be good. However, I was very rude with the wait staff for overcharging me for a shot of tequila ( $16.00. ). This was a big mistake on my my part. The wait staff were unfriendly and ignored me during my last visit. I may still return there to eat but I will have to accept the fact i will probably get bad service. I dont understand why this place doesnt have many customers. The food is great and inexpensive. They should not run off their customers for a little misunderstanding. They may go out of business soon? That would be real sad.

From the moment you step into this place, you are pleasantly surprised with the ambience. The young waiters are very helpful and very attentive. I asked for a recommendation and my waiter said try the arrachera with chilaquiles. Was I surprised! This was by far a great experience, delicious and tasting skirt steak where it transported me to a place in Mexico. Please dont change your recipes. It s in an older shopping center in Sagemont. It s actually surprisingly good and nice inside. I had low expectations for this restaurant but it was actually really good!!! Family friendly!!! Reunited in food. Our family reserved space for our reunion, which we hold every two years, on Saturday the eighth. Texas Grill 49 is a small, but very friendly and accommodating location. We had 65 to 70 family members attend this year and we pretty much took over the whole restaurant. We had a tasting of a variety of items from chips and salsa, queso, guacamole, posole (green) and everyone had their own fajita plate. Presentation was lovely, with the rice, guacamole and pico de gallo all served in small fried tortilla cups, accompanied by the fajitas; chicken, beef, sausage and vegetables, (bell peppers and onions) covered with a dome to keep everything warm. The servers were attentive and patient with us. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and we appreciated the additional accommodations for our senior family members in attendance, as well as the family members with some dietary restrictions. For example, one of our aunts is vegetarian and they made her a platter of vegetable fajitas, brought it out to her along with everyone else s normal fajita platters at no extra charge. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely, the chef is also the bartender and makes wonderful drinks. The service was exemplary, no one was ever left without a drink, even with all of us to attend to. We, as a family, highly recommend this location to anyone who s having a date night, small gathering or larger party (I believe the max is 99), simply communicate your needs and they will help you from there! Don t let the name fool you the, the mexican food here is absolutely delicious. Even our pickiest or more dietary restricted family members thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We value our family above all, and we would gladly book our next reunion here again in another two years! If I could give this place more stars I would. They were great with service and attentiveness. They made me feel so welcome. The chicken parm was cooked to perfection. The name of this places seems more like sports bar, so we almost didn t try them out, but it s mostly a Mexican restaurant with a large variety of other choices as well. Fist time trying this spot, and If you havent tried this place, you are definitely missing out!! We were greeted with genuine care and pleasant faces. From the start our waiter, Gabriel was amazing. He was kind to my elder Mother & helped her read the menu. I ordered the veracruz (fish). In our party, we also had the childs plate chicken strips, a loaded fajita baked potato, street tacos al pastor, and another fish dish on the daily specials menu. Everything was fresh & delicious! The restaurant offers 3 salsas w/the fresh puffy tortilla chips and a complimentary soup to start that was out of this world in flavor.I think it makes this neighborhood spot stand out from the rest. We attended on Mothers Day 5/12/24, & the staff passed out complimentary small gifts to the Mothers at exit. Very touching and such a sweet gesture. Will definitely be back as everything we had was delicious on taste. The drinks are served in cantaritos & jarritos which was a nice touch. The atmosphere is clean and vibrant. This place is very good WOW factor to the location and how big the menu is. The menu has plenty of different menu items to choose from the cook is a Chef and from what we had today a damn good chef everything was flavorful and fresh , they give you chips and salsa when you arrive and they give you a soup Mexican soup that s delicious. The water comes out water first and than they bring out all the add one so you can choose from the service is great this place should be busy for the food they offer . Not sure where to begin with this place. The menu is bizarre, with half up reading like an upscale steak and seafood place and the other half like a taqueria. They do have a nice selection of $15.99 meals with drink included, and the portions are decent. Lets start with the bad. The service is very slow, and they were not busy at all. The Chile con queso is average at best, edible but not great. I got the fajitas (beef and chicken) - now, if you go to their website and read the menu descriptions, this place is clearly communicating that they are all about the meats they serve, that you are going to be in for some high quality grilled meat. Please know this: its a con. The beef is tough and lower quality than most of the taquerias in the area, and the taquerias will only charge you half of what this place does. The chicken is flavorless and also no better than what I can get much cheaper elsewhere. The tortillas, beans, and rice are all unimpressive. Beans and rice are just bland and arrived cold. Now for the good, or at least okay. The salsas served with the chips are very good, even better than most. My wife got cheese and beef enchiladas with the red sauce, and liked them pretty well. Ironically, my wife and I agreed that the absolute best thing we both had were the bowls of the complimentary daily soup, which was caldo de res. It was fantastic. The only way I would return to this place is if I wanted a lighter lunch and I knew they had that soup. Given my experience and the quality of the food I had (especially the meat they brag about), there is no way I would ever spend the kind of money they want for their steak and seafood items.

This restaurant was a surprise. Its called a grill, so I was expecting a hamburger restaurant. Just the opposite. It was an amazing menu of all kinds of foods. I had chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and salad. The salad wasnt just lettuce. It had strawberries and more. The mashed potatoes were very good. My husband had a Mexican dish that he said was very good. My soda was served in a Terra cotta pitcher, that I didnt know what to do with. After looking around, I noticed people put straws in the little pitcher. I had an old fashion that was pretty good, just a little syrupy.

Ive been everywhere in Houston and surrounding areas, and this is the best Mexican restaurant that Ive eaten at. The ingredients are always fresh, and the food is always hot. First time here, we arrived on a Friday at about 2. Didnt expect such nice detail inside. Ordered Queso w Steak as appetizer. Serious thumbs up. The homemade tortilla chips and the cilantro lime creme (I think) sent that appetizer over the top! We had to get 2 refills on the chips, but Chris our waiter was always right on time! I had the mixed fajitas. The chicken was moist and the beef was good. Generous portions. This restaurant may just become our go to... Prices were not bad either! We also were given a cup of mushroom soup to try. I dont care for mushrooms, but it was really good. My husband sure slurped it down! I hope this restaurant digs its heels in here and stays consistent. This area needs good businesses like this one! Give Chris the waiter a good tip when you go in..his service is worth it!

The service is excellent!! Certain plates are reasonably priced. The ambience was a bit confusing; I m not sure if they re going for a Tex-Mex vibe, fine dining, or if it s supposed to be a country kitchen. Fountain drinks are served in adobe cups, however the tables and some decor have a country kitchen feel, yet they serve water in wine glasses and bring a platter of garnishes for you to choose from. The menu options go from country kitchen/American food, to Tex-Mex (which were all reasonably priced), then there were steak and seafood options that were priced in the fine dining price range. So again, not sure what type of restaurant they are trying to be. The restaurant s ambience just seemed to clash and it made it a bit overwhelming and slightly confusing for our first time here. I will say I was underwhelmed with the flavors of the food. I tried my daughter s chicken pasta and it was just ok. I ordered the fajita taco plate with rice and beans; fajitas were very flavorful, however, the beans and rice lacked flavor and were a little bland. Chips and salsa, pozole, and tortillas were great! We will probably give them another try and maybe just not order anything with beans and rice. Overall we had a good experience.

We were greeted at the door immediately upon arriving. Dillion and Chris gave us excellent service. We were given the option of putting the kids order in first which gave us time to look over the regular menu. Our food was delivered to the table hot. Next time I visit I will bring a big appetite because the servings are huge. we tried this restaurant for the first time and ate happy we stopped in. my mom and daughters enjoyed ourselves fully. the service was amazing. Dillion was a nice server and made sure our needs were met. I cannot believe I passed this place up. Went today and they had $1.99 margaritas! They were soooo good and after one uufff! (Chefs kiss) want to feel like your at your grandmas house this is it! Shout out to our host/waiter CHRIS. He was so respectful and so kind and patiently answered all the questions we had about menu. In case you have onion breathe they have mouthwash in bathroom! I absolutely LOVED the food, drinks, service and cleanliness of this gem! We will be back!!!! The Mexican mug in photo with Texas grill on cup was chilled when brought out filled with sprite. OMG! Okay, this place is NOT like the old place at all and its name doesnt do it justice at all. This is an upscale Tex-Mex restaurant in the middle of SAGEMONT. This is the hole in the wall that makes everyone love hole in the walls. The staff is CLASSY, service is on point, the food is goooood ( ), the food presentation is everything, and the atmosphere . I am truly in trouble because this place is less than 5 minutes away from my front door (closer than the corner store).

Visited Texas Grill on 9/29/23 for the first time. The service was very good, as well as the Ribye, spinach, mash potatoes. Quiet and clean inviorment. Friendly staff and close to home. The only odd thing I noticed is that the silverware was placed directly on the wood tabel, so accustomed to having it placed on a napkin of some sort. This by no means a reason not to eat their. Its worth the drive.

Texas Grill 49 has outstanding food, significantly better than any chain restaurant such as Gringo s, Chuy s, Jimmy Changas etc. I tried this restaurant for the first time today after church. My family ordered ceviche, chicken street tacos, sandwich w/ fries and enchiladas. 5 stars all around. I would recommend this place to everyone.

This place completely took me by surprise! The service was great, and so were the servers. Meaning they went above and beyond with the things they brought to the table, and the servers were super nice and never left us needing attention. The chips they brought were probably the best chips Ive had in a long time. They also bring 3 different sauces that were yummy. After that, they bring out a cup of delicious soup. They also offered lemon, lime, or orange wedges for your water. I got pastor street tacos and my friend got a cheeseburger. We loved it all. They have a large selection of food to order. So if you want something more fancy they have plenty to choose from. I cant wait to go back!! And prices were very affordable! I hope this place stays around for a long time.

Regret not coming here sooner! Food and service was great! We ordered empanadas for an appetizer and chips and salsa were also given. Empanadas we re tasty and filling. As we waited for our food, pozole was served to us (we didn t ask for it). It was the first time we ve had it and it was delicious! Everyone was happy with their food: lobster & shrimp bisque, street tacos, Texas Big Sandwich, shrimp platter (shrimp were large). We ll definitely be back!!!

Decided to try this place that weve been seeing around for a while and the reviews are decent. Its definitely different, thats for sure. First, the kids working there are so sweet. Very polite, respectful, great manners. Upon seating, they immediately served us a salad that consisted of cucumber, tomato, onion and feta cheese. Also, a basket of homemade tortilla chips and a plate of salsas (and ranch dressing) to go with it. We ordered the Texas Pasta with chipotle alfredo, and the half chicken plate. The sauce on the pasta was definitely not a traditional alfredo. I dont know if it was the chipotle or something else but it tasted like nothing Ive ever had before. I ate it because I dont waste food or money but I wont ever order that again. The half chicken plate was great. Good beans and rice, awesome homemade tortillas with a slight lime and parsley flavor. The prices are fair and some quite low for what you get. They put a lot of time and money into this place. Hopefully it lasts. They even opened the door for us as we left. Super sweet. We will be back to try something else.

Gloooob.... you guuuuuys.... this place is jaw dropping, the serving portions are DEFINITELY GENEROUSLY Texas sized, the prices for said sizes... mercy... fair priced is a bit of an understatement... From the jump the place was quiet, peaceful, the music was at a enjoyable volume but where you can still hold a conversation. Our waiter Chris, polite, respectful and well informed young man who told us about the food and portions but we didnt really think theyd be a big as he said. We decided on the sandwiches and jokingly asked if they were subway sized sandwiches and he said they were similar...nombre, these made subways footlong look like a kids meal!!! The drinks we ordered were so refreshing and served in the most adorable jarritos and cups, they were the aguas frescas de jaimica and cucumber limon *chefs kiss* and water was offered your choice of freshly cut slices of cucumber, lemon, lime or oranges. Next the BATHROOMS... yall, I was pleasantly surprised, touched even, in the ladies room they had wipes, lil disposable cups, a sewing kit and a hand lotion all on a nice little shelf, they REALLY cater and prepare for ones personal needs... IMPRESSIVE. The place is clean and I simply cant say enough positive things... we will DEFINITELY be returning here. We couldnt finish our meals, and v thats something we dont mind, cuz we can enjoy the meal all over again!!!

So I got the burger and my wife got the tacos. Definitely avoid the burger, they use a very cheap cut of meat that seemed frozen. There was little to no seasoning on the burger, and that meat needs it. The bacon was nice and crispy so im giving it two stars for the bacon. The frys seemed like they are store bought crinkle cut frys that were microwaved and had no salt. The tacos were really good, definitely needs a sauce which they provide many options so they nailed those.

Nice spot you wouldnt expect! I was very surprised after entering this establishment. The atmosphere was definitely nicer than I expected. Nice tables, and decor. The service to sit down was quick. Our initial drinks were quickly taken. It seemed like it took a while afterwards to get back to us, but I chalked it up to the waiter allowing us to view the menu. They bring chips and salsa out, chips where fresh and hot. For the appetizer we tried the queso with steak, the cheese was kinda thin but the steak was amazing which made it pretty good. We went on a Saturday and they had margaritas 2 for 1, they were good, but not strong (to me). My spouse had wine which was good for them. I had the stuffed chicken with spinach and cheese,it was good but not seasoned (came with a drink). The cheese of course made it better. I definitely enjoyed the salad that came with it. My spouse got the burger, which I was told was good. Service was good and our waiter was attentive some would have complained, it didnt bother us much as we were enjoying each others company. Overall we enjoyed this little spot, they could use some improvements, but we could definitely see our selfs going back for another date night dinner.

This is a really unique place with a very texas-centric menu. There is a little bit of everything that you expect to find in the Galveston - Houston area from Chile Rellenos to Redfish to Fajitas and Steak. Its very obvious that the bar, kitchen and floor are all run by family. If you can be patient with the service, I think youll find that the little personal touches, beautifully executed dishes, and bang for the buck will make you want to revisit.

Very original and delicious taste and details in presentation and prep. Very courteous staff and delightful setting. Ceviche was amazing and triple the proportion we were expecting! Surf & Turf Parrillada, so good and perfectly cooked (octopus!). Even the Sangria was a house recipe. We could have fed six people easily for $10 a person (without any drinks). We ended up with a lot of leftovers to take home. They actually brought out a tray of citrus options to add your choice to flavor the water. Thanks Cristina and family.

Comfortable and nice atmosphere. Drinks are great and at a good price. Their food is good. Im just not a huge fan of Tex-Mex but if you love Tex-Mex, this is a good place for ya. The food portions are big in my opinion. Thats not a bad thing, I just cant ever finish my food lol. The owners are nice. All their staff is young, so some are shy. I guess theyre giving young ones an opportunity to kick start their work experience which is really cool. Service is typically quick we never have to wait too long for our food.

The service was awful. The waiter and the chef got both our orders wrong. Mine was missing guacamole and pico de Gallo. My waiter decided to take another order, then forgot my stuff. When I reminded him, he still didnt bring it. My food got cold. I was upset at that point and sent the food back. My mothers burger had bacon and cold cheese on it even though she didnt want bacon or cheese. She took them off the burger and enjoyed the burger. Her fries were mushy and cold, yuck! The refried beans and chili beans were terrible. The rice was okay. Too bad I never got to taste the quesadilla I order. I bet it would have been good. The menu is so poorly written that I heard every customer have to ask, what is this?. They have a great idea, but cant quite get there. The decor is nice. The upper scale touches would be nice if executed properly. I hope they fix whats wrong so they stay open. If not, I dont see this place lasting.
