A hidden gem in the neighborhood. Theres a small parking lot once you go through the entrance. This park feels like a getaway from the city. You are engulf in nature once youre inside. Surrounded by trees and birds chirping, it feels very serene. Everyone is friendly and always say hi as they pass you. Theres a few walking trail and the tall trees cover a good amount of sun so its not too hot.

The sanctuary itself is GORGEOUS but those managing it are abrasive and rude. Specifically a woman named Amber Leung. Im honestly shocked at her behavior and its such a shame that such a beautiful park is represented by such a person.

This was a great place to walk . It wasn t too big or too small . The trees were far enough apart that there is air circulation which is needed in the Houston area . While we saw a few birds we wanted to see more . The trail was maintained and the creek was beautiful. We enjoyed this and would go back in the fall .

***PARKING***: At Memorial Dr United Methodist WEST ENTRANCE. The current address will not take you to the parking lot. FYI beautiful trail though. It reminds me of a mini forest or mini Terry Hershey park. It probably takes 4 hours to walk the whole trail. Bring bug spray. Didn t see much birds today (Apr 2023) and the ones I did see flew so fast. Saw lots of squirrels!

Just a little muddy.. but not to bad the kids loved exploring and trying to find snakes... Luckily we didnt find any snakes today but the kids were really trying to find one.. we encountered a lot of squirrels. And birds are nice .. if you have time come check it out very exciting place.. and the cabin was really nice to take pictures in front of

I was surprised at the scenery and how pretty it was considering its location. Also, not cumbersome in that its long enough to be worth it, but not too long as it will take too long to complete. My only complaint is the adjacent road noise, which cant be helped. We arent local, so this is my first park where there is a surprising amount of highway noise. It might be the least peaceful park Ive ever visited, sadly. Also, please people, dont trash your trails. There is too much trash by the water areas and its sad to see those who care so little about these places.

The whole sanctuary is very well shaded with an abundance of trees and there is a creek-Rummel Creek. If you are driving, park in the church parking lot and use the pedestrian gate. For a minute you are out of Houston. You are in foliage amidst birds, squirrels, cottontails, armadillos, turtles, geckos and the like. Its serene, peaceful and a great place to relax. We visited on a weekend in Summer at 2PM. Other than the humidity it was pretty nice going. There is an entrance on the church lot with plenty of parking. There are some mosquitoes as well. Regardless, this is a simply superb nature preserve. We had a blast. It is quite small but we still ended up spending 2 hours and some change here. There is a cabin, a pond, beautiful trails and bridges scattered about. We had a wonderful time. There is something alluring and magical about this spot and we will likely be back soon.

This was a quiet little piece of nature in the middle of a neighborhood. Its not the place to go if you are looking for 100% seclusion away from the city. There are parts of the trail that literally back up into peoples back yards, and streets are visible from sanctuary. However, it is a great spot to take a break, breathe, and get a quick dose of the outdoors. Its also completely shaded by trees. Downsides: - parking can be very cramped - we saw people ignoring the no dogs sign. It would be great if there was someone to enforce this. - there was trash, plastic bags, and beer cans along the creek...sad to see :/

A quiet and hidden sanctuary by Beltway 8 and Memorial Dr. For easy access (direct trail access), park at the Memorial Methodist Church and look for this entrance (see pic). Small but peaceful. Beautiful trees, nature, steams, birds, fishes, and more. Do carry powerful bug sprays else risk donating blood to giant mosquitoes (lots of them out there). Trail is mostly shaded. Can get muddy after rain. A peaceful, nature and a zen haven in the midst of Houston. Trail map in attached pic.

Hidden gem just off memorial and the beltway. This sanctuary isnt huge but theres enough winding trails to give you at least a decent 30 to 45 minute walk all around the place. The big plus is the tree canopy ensures that you are not subject to direct sun so even in the thick of summer itll probably be at least a few degrees cooler there than anywhere else. Plenty for bird watching enthusiasts and little kids to see and enjoy. Its free and its open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you havent been at least once you should definitely go. N.B.: You cant run on the trails by rule and you really couldnt run even if you wanted to because of the way the trails go But you can definitely speed walk. Some of the little bridges and creeks are rather Instagram worthy

TLDR Super fun little pocket park, perfect for relaxing walk when you don t want to go far but still peep some wildlife without driving too far outside of Houston. Great little park with well maintained trails. There are a few benches scattered throughout and even a wildlife tower that elevates you about 10 feet and big enough for one person. Maintained by the Houston Audubon Society. The bridges are sturdy, well marked, and well maintain. Lots of criss crossing short paths make it easy to get lost while looking for birds, but the overall size of the park is quite small. If you re looking for a hike hike, this isn t for you, unless you re a toddler. Small pond with lots of turtles, cute fat squirrels, and saw a few cottontail rabbits. No dogs permitted as per signage

Had a great time doing a nature walk here. So peaceful and well kept. Kids loved running around and looking for turtles.

Well-maintaned trails, often bird activity, wooded with creek. No pets - its a sanctuary.

Great place for a walk, full of nature and history. A nice brochure is available to read and learn all about it as you walk. We ve now gone back again!
