About the Company

rating: 4.7

Axelrad, located off Alabama St, is about celebrating Houston, enjoying outdoors, and relaxing. Beer, cocktails, hammocks, music. Happy hour every day. Conceived as a gathering place for the community offering beer, wine, drinks, Luigi's pizza, live music, and a grove of hammocks, a nice place for couples & friends, axelrad aims to be a place for all. The bar is housed within a 100-year-old renovated building, originally a small grocery store built by David and Gertrude Axelrad. Adding to the historic interior are artist-made tap handles by Venezuelan-based Maria Rangel, seating by New Living's HTX Made, and textiles by Austin-based Nido.

5-Star joint. This place has a great vibe, good music, the scene is a rustic feel outside with an open and free flow. We, my wife and I, only spent about an hour there; we had the frozen Margaritas, Raspberry Kombucha (spiked w/Rum) and frozen mango daiquiri rimmed with Tajin and drizzle with chamoy. All good, . Highly recommend, well be going back soon. Note, parking is in the back dirt parking, shared with the pizzeria and café on that same block.

The pizza place that s connected to Axelrad is really good. Drinks at Axelrad are good and cheap compared to other places. Overall a chill spot Parking: The parking lot is somewhat small but you can find street parking right across the street. Difficulty just depends on what time you go. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly until 9 p.m I believe.

Every Tuesday they have a running group starts at 7:00 pm .If youre seeking the perfect blend of relaxation and style for your outdoor space, an outdoor bar with a hammocks this might be just what you need. This setup typically features a bar area equipped with stools or chairs, alongside a hammock for lounging. The beauty of this combination lies in its versatility. The bar area allows for easy entertaining and casual gatherings, offering a spot for drinks, snacks, or even a full meal outdoors. The hammock, on the other hand, provides a cozy retreat where you can unwind with a book. Many of these setups are crafted with weather-resistant materials to ensure durability, making them suitable for various climates. Overall, an outdoor bar with a hammocks is a fantastic investment for those who love to entertain or simply relax outside. It combines functionality with leisure, creating a space thats perfect for both socializing and solitude.

This is one of the best places to hang in Houston. They have so many different events throughout the week that cater to whatever vibe you re looking for. Such as, jazz nights, movie nights, video game nights, market nights, karaoke, comedy, live music, run club, open mic nights, and plenty of other events! If you re looking for nonalcoholic options, they ve got you covered! I d specifically like to highlight the karaoke nights on Thursdays! It s hosted by Amelia and she does a wonderful job by making it fun and interactive. She does her best to get through the list and even jumps up there and sings with people who are a tad too shy to do it on their own. It s super inclusive and entertaining. I ve made new friends since they started the karaoke nights. I m happy to call Axelrad my favorite hangout spot in Houston. Y all rock!!

This was my first time coming for karaoke. I wont be back. I waited for 2 hours. There was a huge bday party. They put a thousand songs on the list. The same people sung over & over. There was no rotation. I asked the karaoke DJ Amelia about it. She just blew it off and didnt seem to care about giving EVERYBODY a chance to sing karaoke.

They don t sell food. This place is phenomenal! They opened their doors at 10 AM after Hurricane Beryl. Offered a/c, drinks and WiFi. I desperately needed internet access for work and to check my emails and communicate. There was a short line just a few minutes before 10 AM. Axelrad was still kind enough to let us in a few minutes early instead of making us wait until 10 AM sharp. I ve been to this place maybe once or twice prior to the hurricane but I ll definitely go more often now and make a conscious effort to support their business when I m in the neighborhood. Parking: There s a park across the street and street parking all around. Some spaces are free, some spaces are metered.

The service was OK. Went there one time for happy hour. Asked the bar tender, What margaritas they had during happy hour. She only informs us of 2 options. Regular margaritas or frozen. Both are very different prices. Ended up paying $30-55 that day because the bar tender couldnt inform us that they were different prices. If theres a mention of happy hour, what in the right mind would we be asking to pay full price? I dont understand honestly. I cant trust anyone anymore. Its not a complicated task. Not all of us are locals, smh

This is a great place to chill, the atmosphere is relaxing. Average drink options, nothing to give a wow factor. I do not go to the bar, they can be rude, so i order drinks from the table QRcode. Do not go for crawfish. They say they will have it but i have tried 3 times and there is always some excuse between them and Saigon. Do not promote something you cant honor. Regardless if it is Saigons issue or not, find someone else to work with.

The only 2 things would be food since its a hit or miss, but Luigis is right next door so its not that big of a deal; and parking, but bad parking youll deal with literally anywhere in Houson. I literally never regret coming to Axelrad. I visually here with friends, but sometimes I come for an event and even then its still a pretty good time. Good for dogs, and a kid friendly place during non-nighttime hours. And the events will vary and be pretty good. This is pretty much a Houston staple to go to. Parking: Not great, but parking around the neighborhood is ok for the most part. Kid-friendliness: Better on Sunday and during the day.

We we didnt eat anything but we enjoyed our drinks indeed. I had the When We Were Plum cocktail; its very refreshing and my hubby had The Devils Backbone beer which he highly enjoyed. As always much love to the universe and Houston. > :3 :) :D Vegetarian options: lots of vodka and drinks lol Parking: Great parking lot most days except the huge concerts and Cumbia nights and stuff where you re most likely parking on the street. I don t always trust people Kid-friendliness: not kid friendly, its a bar

Hands down, probably my favorite bar in Houston! It has everything I want in a bar: great outdoor atmosphere, awesome live music, the drink selection is really cool and friendly staff. I also love that every day they have a theme going on here as well! I come every once a month during their retro game theme days and they are always the best! And if you ever get hungry, they have a pizzeria next door as well as food trucks. Definitely a place you never want to miss out on!

I like the outside patio area at this place. The hammocks, the big screen. They have different food trucks vendors throughout the week, so you get to try various ethnicities foods. Their micheladas are really good. Prices are reasonable.

Axelrad is colorful, decorative, and fun. Good place to bring anyone, more of an adult crown in the evening. Thursday night they have H-Town Hibachi. Margaritas are cheep and tasty. Ill try pizza and some beers next visit.

Axelrad has been a midtown staple for years and never fails to deliver on what is expected of it. I enjoy coming to have a few beers and the nice patio when the weather is good! Food truck they hired was slightly greasy but that s not on Axelrad

Came here with a few friends and had a blast! The food trucks were delicious and I loved all of the drinks I had. Seating was easy to find outside, and the upstairs patio was very nice. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

Came with a bunch of coworkers for a going away party. The non alcoholic drinks were delicious and my coworkers who were actually drinking said their drinks were delicious. Really enjoyed the vibe. Took off 1 star for two reasons 1. The bartender was a little grumpy, not enough to ruin our experience but to make us feel that we were annoying him. 2. They turned off the music and started playing a short film, so we left. Note this was on a Friday night, it d be different if it were a Thursday or Sunday night. We loved the hammock chairs.

If youre looking for somewhere to relax and catch up with friends or perhaps youre on a first day, this place is perfect. The atmosphere is so relaxed and laid back. They have different food trucks on different nights to go along with the pizza place thats right next door and Axelrads kitchen. The vibe is very chill and calm. Its like walking into the back yard to hang out with your friends. I highly recommend this bar. It doesnt matter what your party size is, youre going to settle in and understand what I mean about being in the backyard with your friends. I will definitely be going back.
