We looked everywhere before buying the Outdoor Gourmet. $599.00. It works great, heats up fast, cooks even. We never had flat grates before, but they work well. It has a side burner, and the under part of the grill is enclosed. The place for the gas tank has a sturdy pull out shelf. You will not find this feature on many grills under $1000.00 . Guys, you know what a pain in the back it is to change the tank. We bought the grill cover also, sturdy canvas, well made.

Train your staff and front desk employees! The lack of basic courtesy is shocking. No smiles, no greetings just a cold, indifferent attitude. These are the basic principles of customer relationship management, and it was clear no one here has been trained in them. Very disappointing.

Gotta say, Kathy the director here is a perfect example of good leadership, and here people sure do take after her. Had quite a ride after a mix up when buying a firearm and then an even bigger mishap after opening a credit card with them from the same purchase! Kathy took things straight into her hands and went way above and beyond to make things painless. Great staff here!

Im just going to go middle-of-the-road on this review. This is more critique and feedback than complaint. Ive been looking out for an Intex 18x52 Ultra XTR Frame pool for a while now. I located one at Academy on Bryant Irvin, purchased it online, and went to pick it up. I waited outside for more than 30 minutes, no updates, no notifications, no delivery. I canceled the order and decided to look more. That was my first experience regarding this pool hunt (Ive never had a poor experience with Academy before). In the hope that an 18x52 was still available, I discovered that there was not. I was just on the cusp of purchasing a different size that I did not want, and a brand of pool from another retailer when I thought to do one final search for an 18x52. To my surprise, two popped up in Grapevine. I made the purchase online and went to pick it up earlier this afternoon. My second experience at Academy regarding this pool in Grapevine went something like this: as I purchased this pool online very early this morning, between 2a-3a, I received notice by email and text that my order was ready to pickup at exactly 8:18a this morning. Two ladies at the pickup counter in front, one doing I dont know what and the other finishing with an elderly gentleman. He leaves, and the girl asks if she can help. I told her that I was there to pick up an 18x52 pool. She takes my name and starts shuffling through bins behind the counter. I said no, its a pool, its big, it wont be in that bin. In fact, it wasnt even behind the counter. She turns back to me and asks for my order # and photo ID. Both provided. She makes a few calls on their walkie-talkie and then asks if I brought my truck, that I could pull it up front. I told her no, I brought my 2021 Mazda 3. She says, oh no, this wont fit in your car. She calls another male employee over, day manager(?) perhaps, inquires about the pool fitting on my car. Oh no, he says, theres no way. I could see their eyes light up when they thought there would be no need to retrieve the pool. Ill admit, boxed up, its a big, heavy parcel. So, it was somewhat humiliating standing there having multiple employees tell me what would not fit into my car. I told them that it would fit, that I had come prepared and was going to unbox the individual pieces and pack them into my car, which I did and that worked quite well. I even took the big outer box around to the side of the building and placed it for recycling, leaving not one hint of my car packing project ever having occurred. I know it was a matter of just not wanting to be responsive and retrieving the pool because as the general topic of discussion within my range of hearing was hiw it had been dead all day. I get it, I worked retail for years, those days come. But it is no excuse for being lazy at all. I strongly considered just canceling the order and removing my $550 order from your already slow and needless to say, low revenue sales day. But I need a pool, that bad. So I didnt. Perhaps in the future, if opinions ate going to be shared, maybe share opinions on someones nice attitude & personality, something that soneone is wearing that you like, maybe even on the weather. But not opinions on what o e thinks may or may not fut into a particular vehicle (to allow for laze on the job). Obviously, the box fully packed would not have fit into my vehicle. It wouldnt fit inside of most vehicles, save & except pickup trucks. But many of us are very creative and very self-sufficient. We make do with what we have. The pool made it safely home and will be erected in my yard tonight. Not one scratch or dent in my vehicle. For 300lbs of weight, it traveled home very quiet and politely with no attitude. For future reference, Mazda 3s have so much storage space it would make your head spin.

I went to buy a grill. Not one single employee would give us any help. Plenty of employees around, but nobody wanted to help. Bill at the gun counter was very helpful and knowledgeable, and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. The downside was only on checkout lane open up front, with a huge line of people waiting for checkout. After 15 or 20 minutes they finally directed some of us to come up to the customer service desk and check out. Pretty understaffed for afternoon shopping time. Update; 12/23/23: Decent staffing of the registers at the Grapevine store today, and I got the usual great service at the firearms counter to find the ammo I was shopping for. Good selection of gifts and other practical gifts like shoes and winter clothing as well. Update; 04/0702024: Quick trip into the Grapevine store to get range ammo. Item was in stock and the sporting goods associate brought it out for me. Browsed a new pistol and Ill definitely be back to this store to buy it soon...Great service.

I don t usually write reviews but the friendly people at Academy went way above and beyond for me today so here I am. I recently suffered a knee injury and needed to get a little buggy so that I could haul my groceries in from the car without making additional trips. So I reached out to Academy in Grapevine to see if they had such a thing. Not only did they have one, the person working that department brought it up to customer service so I didn t have to walk to the back of the store. And he even assembled it for me so I could pull it out of the store. Thank you guys for the excellent customer service and going the extra mile. It didn t go unnoticed.

Bought a new Pit boss from store and noticed when I got home the pit boss meat probes where missing. Called and got put on hold for 30min then when answered got put on hold again for another 10min. Then when they finally talked to me about what happen said that person in charge of grillls is gone to call back another day. All I wanted was to see if they left them in the back or if they can replace them or give store credit for the cost of the probes. Seems fair since I spent about her $800 .. side note the pit boss was out together like a kid did it had to tighten everything and things where falling off.

I finally found the color Stanley that I have been searching for! So excited that I ordered two! When I got the notification that my order was ready for pickup, I drove over an hour to pick it up. When I got there, they only had one of the two I ordered. Two managers helped rectify the mishap and I left happy! My favorite store chain in the United States. It is a pity how some brands are suffering in front of the online sales. While is good the latter, still is to be missed the feeling of walking around the aisles and touch with your own hands the stuff before buying it.
