The Georgetown Art Center is the headquarters of the Texas Commission on the Arts designated Downtown Georgetown Cultural District and is managed by the City of Georgetown’s Arts and Culture Program. The GAC offers visual art exhibits, artist talks, and receptions all free to the public. Exhibits range from solo shows to group shows with a singular topic or theme. All exhibits are curated by an exhibit committee comprised of local artists from across the community. Calls for Exhibit Proposals are published annually to provide artists the opportunity to apply to exhibit at the GAC. Cordovan Art School at the Art Center offers daily classes for adults and children, as well as school break camps and summer camps.

Small but appreciated art center in Georgetown, loved how it looks inside, very modern, light and spacious. It s small but has precious art pieces, interesting to visit anyway. There is also the corner with handmade gifts ideas. Entrance is free.

Considering that this art center is completely run by volunteers (that s right - no pay), it is astounding what they accomplish. Their work adds vibrancy to the community and increases tourism. It s a great little place, but if city council would recognize the need for professional staffing (paid), their contribution to the Georgetown s arts/cultural/tourism would be phenomenal.

Nice location, sophisticated venue, and notable art. This gallery standout most for its accessibility to the artisticly inclined as well as the average, admiring observer. The gallery showcases inspiring, contemporary artwork and artists from right here in Texas as well as other places. Room for improvement: A more driven campaign of events showcasing the art as well as providing leisure for the observer and exposure to the artist. Also, more knowledgeable staff regarding the arts.

A gallery featuring the latest in the visual arts with exhibits changing every 4 to 6 weeks. Featured artists are from around the world, but usually includes Texas, South America, and all of the U.S. A Wang designed building that features the renovation of the 19th century fire station/town offices and calaboos - includes a studio for classes as well as rental space for private studios on the second level.

Interesting art from a wide range of artists. Wont see any bluebonnet and longhorn amateur work here (will see it elsewhere on the square). It always pushes my understanding of art to expand.
