I cant find yall on Yelp to leave a review there also. But this place was soooooo good. We went in because a lot of places were closed already (6ish pm). Im glad we did. The food was soooooo good. I had the Grilled Veggies like the Fajita type but for vegetarians. OMG even meat easters wouldnt miss the meat here. This plate was delicious! My husband had the shrimp tacos. The service was great Giselle I believe was our waitress name & she was lovely. My veggie plate was so huge you can seriously feed 3 ppl off that plate.

Terrible staff. The hostess had no idea what he was doing. He showed us the table we were getting outside, then promised the same table to 2 other families. We were finally seated inside. Too many staff members with no organization. Our waitress spilled my daughters full glass of water and had no urgency to clean up the mess. My daughter had it done before she came back to table. The beans were cold and too much cilantro in the rice. Took forever to get out ticket. Would not recommend if you are in Galveston. Save your money. Over priced. Terrible service.

My review from today: We had an event at the Galveston Arts Center and due to a miscommunication with the caterer we didnt have enough food. At the last minute, Taquilos came through for us with a great spread and delivered it to us. It was a huge order at the last minute and they went above and beyond. The food was fantastic and everyone raved about it!! My review from 5 years ago: The green sauce, red sauce, and everything else we ate and drank was AMAZING. The Chicken Tinga Verde enchiladas, The Special Plate, and the mahi tacos were all worth coming back for. The margaritas were also divine and both the host and waitress were so friendly! Wonderful experience.

Excellent time at Taquilos with the family! Be sure to limit the amount of delicious chips and salsa you eat to save room for the apps and main course! I really liked the warm red salsa contrasted with the cool green salsa. Girls loved the kids menu and I highly recommend the bacon wrapped Shrimp Besos - it has Cheese and Jalapenos with the shrimp and is sitting on a bed of onions. I had the chicken tinga verde enchiladas and my wife had an enormous salad. Everything was hot and delicious! Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu! Quesadillas were a hit.

Update: decided to give it another try, AND GLAD I DID!!! Completely different experience than my first review. Staff was AMAZING AND ATTENTIVE. Food was delicious and I m sold. The manager went around asking everyone about their experience, I did let him know how much my experience changed from the last time I was here. I m happy to give this place the kuddos it deserves!!! GREAT WORK!!! This was my husband and I first time at Taquilos this evening. I was looking forward to purchasing their membership reward program because there are several restaurants that participate in the program that we visit often. (Just as I have a Landry Select membership.) But after experiencing awful service, I decided not to purchase the membership. We arrived at table 1 around 5:45pm. We sat down and watched several employees running around like crazy, making eye contact with us but never acknowledging us. About 10 mins after we arrived, another couple sat down at table 2 and were promptly greeted and started ordering drinks meanwhile we were still sitting there waiting to be acknowledged. The young lady working the bar noticed we hadn t been taken care of and asked several employees if table 1 had been taken care of she was told yes but we hadn t. We remained patiently sitting and my jaw just about dropped when table 2 was already having their dinner order taken, yet we still hadn t been acknowledged at all. Finally the employee that helped table 2 came to take our dinner order but I politely informed him that we hadn t even placed our drink order. IT WAS A DISASTER!!! When our food came out, my fajitas were not cooked as I ordered them and my husband asked for corn tortilla tacos but he received flour the only great thing we had was the chips and the ranch/sour cream dip. We were very disappointed. The scenery of downtown Galveston was nice, but other than that, I wish we had a better experience.

Weve been here many times before but this time the food was just different and wasnt as good as usual. We also got the family fajita combo platter(says it feeds 6-8, and none of us ate more than one taco. There was maybe enough for one more taco. So, definitely not enough for that many people unless we all got one piece of meat. I used to love this place, which is why we came back, but next time, Ill try somewhere new.

Terrible service, plenty of open tables and they made us wait about 15 minutes to sit down. Then once we sat down it took them 20 minutes to get us water. Then they told us they were out of chips and salsa- while someone serving another table was giving them chips and salsa (we had our meal before we got any). One of the servers scoffed at us when we asked when we would be getting chips. Then we ordered guac which was basically just avocados cut up. Poor experience.

We are from Iowa and we visited Galveston Island June 21-28. This restaurant was very good and we had the best waitress we have ever had there. My daughters ordered taco salads and we asked if they had ranch. She said she would go get some. We saw her leave the restaurant and come back with ranch. She was awesome! Totally recommend!

I ordered the cheese enchiladas. Im from San Antonio and I guess I went here on a bad day. They charged way more then Im used to for a plate of cheese enchiladas but I thought to myself let me give it a try. It must be very good. I got the plate and it was very simple for the price. No shredded lettuce or guacamole. No flour tortillas. I took a couple of bites and no. I didnt like it. They need to change the recipe for their rice and enchiladas. The beans was good. If I can remember correctly, I think the plate cost 15.00. The cost was not worth it for what I got. The tea was expensive to. Costing me 4.00 and some change. I had the plate sent back and paid for the tea which was good. Then I left. The restaurant itself was nice and clean. The employees friendly. The atmosphere was nice.

The food was just some of the worst Tex Mex food I have ever had. So expensive for actual frozen slop. The chips were greasy, we had to send back food, the drinks were good but only because they were pure syrup and next to no tequila. The beef fajitas had store bought tortillas with a tiny amount of beef for $40. Drinks werent strong but at least tasted fine. I would not bring my family here again.

Great Tex-Mex and decent service. It seemed a little pricey, but that probably walks hand-in-hand with most restaurants around that Strand area. We were able to take advantage of their cheaper lunch menu. The Chimichanga that I got was loaded with chicken and delicious. Food was good, and service was great. Best service Ive ever had. As a wheelchair user the building was difficult to get to. Fortunately I had my husband to help me. The womens restroom is not wheelchair accessible however the restrooms have a single stall so I was able to use the mens. I was actually surprised by how clean it was. Overall really enjoyed this place. Just may not be accessible to all wheelchair users depending on your abilities. I had trouble finding access where I didnt have to go over a curb to get here.

The guy hostess that never closes his mouth (not being rude, he literally sits with his mouth open at all times) needs to be fired. He s been creepy and rude multiple times that my boyfriend and I have gone. He has no customer service skills and we have literally chosen to not eat here before whenever he is working, which is sad because we love taquilos food, and the servers are always phenomenal. The past times we went he s sat there and stared at us (and specifically my breasts which has made us uncomfortable enough to leave before even getting to order). He was rude the last time we went to get on the waitlist, so we decided to go to another Mexican restaurant down the street. All together, tequilos itself is a good restaurant, but that hostess is not.

We checked in and put our name on the waitlist only to be forgotten about. There were about 3 open tables before a waiter noticed us outside waiting. He came to us and asked if we had been helped and we explained that we re on the waitlist. He went inside to grab the same host who spoke to us prior. What a great place for dinner! We were seated at the outside tables with our dog and they even got him a water cup. Our server Alexandria was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She truly went above and beyond to accommodate us and even got my husband a free dessert for his birthday! Coming to the food, the taco salad was very tasty. But man the complimentary chips and salsa was out of the world! Hands down one of the best salsas we ve had in a long time!!!! If they d package and sell that salsa, we would buy bottles of it!! The service was excellent and there was little to complain about once the food came. I have eaten here several times and the only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the lack a cleanliness. I get it bugs are going to be an issue outside but gnats and fruit flies inside are avoidable, it is also hard to come by a table that has been cleaned well. **UPDATE** Food was still good. Flies are still a problem. Our server did not speak English well and a second server had to translate. In addition the server did not provide napkins, silverware or drink refills until flagged down. At the end of our meal the server asked if he could go next door to the grocery store to get change. Very strange service this time.

I ordered the Fiesta Nachos. They are made using what seems to be a watery commercial nacho cheese sauce like the kind used for nachos in a stadium. I guess I prefer nachos made with real cheese melted on the chips. The ground beef was good and in sufficient quantity. There were barely detectable quantities of the included refried beans and pico de gallo. A few pickled jalapeno slices were on one edge of the plate. A small dolop of sour cream was on top. The included guacamole was entirely missing. The manager removed the dish from the bill. My companion only ate one of her 3 ground beef tacos and told me later she didnt like them because they were mostly beef and lettuce. We sat at the bar. It wasnt busy. We had to wait a long time for the bartender to take our order because she was too busy chatting with the customer seated next to me. Our food took a long time to arrive in spite of the place being nearly empty (8:15pm on 3/26/24). We had to wait for our check at the end because the bartender was busy making 5 gallon buckets of house Margaritas. Speaking of those Margaritas, Im glad I didnt order one. A sign proclaims that they are the best Margaritas in town. A large banner says they are made with Jose Cuervo silver tequila. I witnessed handles of a cheap well brand tequila being dumped into the buckets, not Jose Cuervo. Its probably a good thing that no limes were harmed in the production of these margaritas. No liquid fruit juice was added. These Margaritas were made using pouches of dry beverage mix powder. The water was added by placing the bucket on the floor in front of the multi-compartment warewashing sink. Water from the sink spigot was then channeled into the bucket using a metal ice scoop. Is this practice allowed? I thought that the use of such sinks for purposes other than dishwashing was prohibited. There is a possibility of contamination of the spigot due to splashing. At any rate, its not a good look. While there I discovered from a takeout order bag I saw that this restaurant is part of a small local chain called Galveston Restaurant Group. They also own seven other restaurants in Galveston. I will be leery of trying those other restaurants as well. Parking: Free street parking was hard to find even at 8pm. Paid lot across the street. Downtown location. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, no grade change from sidewalk into establishment. Single level.

Ok so we went there because a friend suggested it was a nice place for Mexican food and it was our first time visiting Galveston. We had a nice experience with our server Santiago. He was beyond wonderful with the service. Our food came in quick, and we were starving! Went there for lunch and drinks. It was so good we came back the next day for another round of lunch and drinks. The margaritas on the rocks were some of the best around and the happy hour prices made them a great deal too. The food was very good and came in large portions at a reasonable price. The staff were very quick and friendly. The complementary nachos and dips were some of the best I have ever had. I honestly think this was one of my best dining experiences I have had in a very long time.

Service was quick and courteous, and the cost is generally very affordable compared to other options nearby. The salsas provided at the start of the meal are both exceptional as well. However, the beef enchiladas I ordered were a little plain, and could have benefited from a little more sauce. Still, portions were large enough that I could comfortably take a second helping home for later, so its difficult to complain.

This had become one of our favorite places, but yesterday was not so good. Our server must have been new. He had no communication skills at all, and no, it was not a language barrier. I know we all start off new at some point, but this level of lack of ability to communicate should have been addressed. We even had to remind our server to please go get our food. I felt so bad because I never do that. I hope he gains his confidence and kicks butt going forward. We got our food, and then it got worse. Our food was cold and lacking substance. I never order nachos, but I was just in a snacking mood. It had maybe 2 bites of beef and a small spoonful of beans. The cheese was cold and not melted. The taco salad had no taste at all. I dont typically leave negative reviews. But we drove 2 hours to sit for a relaxing lunch in Galveston, and this was a letdown.

I would like to give this place a better review but there were a few missteps.preventing that. We were down on the island for quick trip with the kiddos. They were in no condition to take somewhere to eat so we ordered takeout. Our go to was closed, so we settled on Taquilos Online ordering was fine but limited. Wifey wanted some bacon wrapped shrimp, and cheese enchiladas so it looked promising. They had shrimp and chicken besos (kisses) on the menu so we ordered the large shrimp besos. However, we received chicken besos, and they were very sad dried out chunks of chicken wrapped in overcooked bacon on a bed of lightly grilled onions. The cheese enchiladas were gummy and just off in flavor. We both took a bite and ended up throwing them in the trash. My chicken enchiladas and the chicken nachos were fine, nothing to write home about, basic Tex-Mex, have had worse and better. The Mexican rice was pretty good, it is surprising how many places literally can t cook a simple rice dish. The refried bean were nice, creamy texture, and not overpowering with aggressive spices or over-seasoned.

This was the best food I have ever had. The guacamole was excellent, the ingredients tasted so fresh. The spinach enchiladas tasted homemade, the bacon wrapped shrimp were divine, not greasy and came on a bed of grilled onion which were cooked to perfection. We got there during happy hour so of course I had a watermelon margarita. Manny was our server and he went above and beyond for us. The prices were so reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Hands down the best restaurant experience I have ever had.

The cilantro avocado cream dip was AMAZING! We would have perfectly happy eating that with the chips and salsa but of course we went all out. We ordered the Island Summer Plate & special plate with a chicken & beef enchilada. The special plate was great. Rice was amazing. The chicken was slightly over cooked. Island plate was also delicious. Our waitress was great with offering suggestions. She was very attentive. We did not have to wait to be sat. We initially chose Taquilos because the description said they have a dog-friendly patio. That was sort of true; the patio consists of several tables out on the sidewalk. It was fine, because the service was great, as several staff members came out to check on us numerous times, and our dog, Franky was happy to hang out and watch the passers-by. We arrived just in time to take advantage of a $5 happy hour margarita, which we enjoyed while we perused the menu. I ordered the chicken tinga enchiladas with charro beans; my husband had the soft beef tacos. We also had a starter of guacamole. Oh. Oh. The salsa was probably the best Ive had in recent memory. Served warm, it offered medium heat with a roasted tomato flair, and it was delightful! The chicken tinga enchiladas were tasty and plentiful with 3 to a serving, in addition to rice and the slightly spicy charro beans. The beef soft tacos were amply stuffed with ground beef, lettuce, and Pico de Gallo along with refied beans and rice. Today was the first day of a 6-day stay in Galveston and its safe to say that we might make our way back to Taquilos before we leave. Highly recommended!

This Tex-Mex place has my heart with their Lobster Shrimp Tacos. Creamy, melt in the mouth delicious Lunch special on a blazing hot afternoon of scavenger hunting. It was enough food for 2 hungry souls to split and be very satisfied! Taquilo s was the perfect location for a break, and their food / colorful atmosphere is energizing! The place is very nice, and the waiters are very nice in the place, and the food is good and the waiters are excellent, unfortunately we had to see an unpleasant and unfair case in the restaurant, we saw the pike manager being super RACIST with his employees and it is disrespectful to employees and customers when we see that kind of scenes in a restaurant. I asked my server if that s how the manager always acted, and he told me that yes, all the time I was in the restaurant, the manager LUCIÓ spent it on his mobile phone and treating the employees badly, the truth to see how they treated their work team that disappointed and for my children it was something traumatic, I like the restaurant, we all know what the solution to this problem is, I hope to see changes the next time I go with my family, if not prepare for the consequences of continuing to losing more customers and good Money
