We love to go here for happy hour. Great bites everything we try we love. Stormy takes great care of us very attentive. The toasted raviolis, spinach gnocchi, and the caprese are our favs. We will be returning. Stormy is the best bartender she keeps our waters and drinks full! One of the best happy hours on the island. Never got a dish we did not love! The best Alfredo sauce Ive ever had.

From the minute we walked in and asked for the happy hour menu, we were treated like second-class citizens. They didnt bring us menus until we asked again and then took an inordinately long amount of time to bring drinks. If they dont want people to come for happy hour, then take it off their website.

The service was good until it came to getting our bill. We had to ask 2x for our server. The food was excellent. The wait staff needs to find something better to do than stand around and laugh. They were right around the corner wall from where we sat and they were so loud that we could barely hear each other talk. It was very disruptive. It was a slow part of the day and all they were doing was standing around talking and eating. In my opinion that s what the kitchen is for We ll go back for the good but at a later time when it s busier

After the host asked if I was there for happy hour or to eat, telling the person that I dont drink, I was seated in a corner, with a rickety chair, in front of a wall with nothing but wine locked in cabinets. My salad came with a great dressing, but the lettuce aphid, I guess it was, crawling on my plate after I ate most of the salad, added to the bad seating. The spaghetti with meat sauce wasnt anything special. Before I took a bite, I asked if it was safe to eat. The best part of the ordeal was Eric, my server.

I am sure this is a great place, we walked in at 9:55 just to have a drink at the bar. There were lots of people finishing their meals. But the bar tender said that s they were closed. We asked if we could just get one glass of wine since the restaurant was still full (on a Saturday night). But they didn t want our money. We left and went to Hearsay a much nicer restaurant/bar with a great bar tender.

The service was also great, our service could not have been better. The atmosphere is nice and has a really good vibe. On a busy Friday evening, my wife and I experienced an absolutely amazing time at our newest special place to eat on the island. The menu variety of appetizers and entrees was excellent for any Italian food enthusiast. Due to our limited appetites, we divide our entrée. Our wait person, Kathleen, was more than willing and happy to help us. She was extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients of appetizers, entrées, and wines. She frequently visited our table and asked us if we needed any additional help with our meal or drinks. We noticed the restaurants wait staff visiting their assigned tables and bussers extremely busy but diligent and quick clearing and cleaning the empty tables. Our meal was delicious, and Kathleens choice of wine matched up well with our entrée. We were seated in a cozy spot and will always have great memories of our first visit to our newfound Italian restaurant. We highly recommend you visit this treasure on the island.

Otherwise, I would rate it an all 5 star event.

We were seated in a nice area & Joshua, our waiter, appeared a few minutes after being seated. We wanted to try the snapper dish, but at 530pm, they were out of snapper, and salmon was the substitute. The salmon was very dry. Luckily, after a few minutes, the sauce arrived and helped the dish. We also ordered the scallop appetizer, and it was delicious. We ordered the bread with dipping sauce. We received the bread but sauce never came. Service wasnt exceptional. Our wine glass set empty for at least 10 minutes before the waiter returned to check on us. Overall, the ambiance of restaurant was nice.

The restaurant is beautiful, and the server was very friendly but the food was disappointing. I enjoyed the chicken gnocchi soup, but I got the lasagna and it tasted very off to me. I couldnt place if it was the sauce or the meat but it just had a very strange taste and I could barely eat any of it. But the worst surprise was the limoncello cheesecake. The cheesecake itself was terrible - gritty texture and no flavor at all. I couldnt eat more than one bite. The berry compote and whipped cream were great, but theres no saving a cheesecake that tastes that bad. Given the restaurants location and reviews I was expecting a good lunch, but I was very disappointed.

Ended up stopping here for dinner with a medium-sized group before seeing the Christmas Carrol. The ambiance is very nice. It feels upscale without being pretentious. I especially liked the architecture, it makes you feel like youre having dinner in a place of historic significance and not just another restaurant. We ordered wine and a few appetizers, and I got the chicken cannelloni. The wine that the server recommended was perfect with the food that we ordered and I appreciated his recommendation. The apps were delicious and so was my entrée. All the food tasted like very good, no-nonsense, high-quality Italian food and I believe the menu items were priced very fairly. It can be difficult to find good local food in Galveston, but my company along with myself cleaned our plates and even finished the remaining apps before leaving here. If youre looking for an upscale Italian spot in a beautiful historic Galveston building, definitely check out Riondos Ristorante.

Had a reservation at 6:30 last night. Hostess walked us over to a table for 2 in the bar that was shoved in the corner and one of the chairs was nearly sitting in the aisle. Open table for 4 right next to the table and we asked to sit there. Said they couldn t move us and if we wanted a different table, then we could come back at 8:30. Manager offered us a free round of drinks but also said she couldn t move us to a different table. The are we re 8 open tables in the restaurant. I m a former OWNER of a restaurant and know how this industry works. We are locals and have been coming to Riondos for years and we have had issues with seating before. We left and went to Saltwater and had the best time. May be time for Riondos to hire people to go actually care about their customers.

I was a little intimidated by the prices, but this place was worth every penny. Its located in a very historic building that survived the 1900 storm, which was the deadliest natural disaster in US history. It is supposedly haunted! It was previously a bank, and you can ask to dine in the old vault. The food was excellent. We had the garlic bread, mozzarella, calamari, meatballs (SO GOOD), and several kinds of pasta. The drinks all tasted very fresh, not like some places where its made from a cheap premade mix.

Absolutely divine! The lamb lollipop with berry sauce is an absolute triumph for the taste buds. The succulent lamb is cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with just the right amount of charred goodness on the outside. But its the berry sauce that truly elevates this dish to culinary artistry. The sweet and tangy flavors of the fresh berries complement the richness of the lamb impeccably, creating a symphony of taste sensations in every bite. The presentation is equally remarkable, showcasing a delightful play of colors that invite you to savor the dish with your eyes before indulging your palate. A true masterpiece, this dish is a must-try for anyone seeking a gastronomic adventure that will leave a lasting impression. Kudos to the chef for crafting such an outstanding culinary experience!

We invited a couple of friends to join us for a nice dinner while they were town, as we had always enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and food at Ridondos. We were not disappointed with the atmosphere during this visit, but the service and food left a bit to be desired. We ordered the lasagna, to be split between us, as we remembered the portions to be large. In the fine print at the bottom of the menu, I had noticed a statement that there would be a split plate fee of $5, so I was not surprised when we received the bill and the fee was listed there. But it would have been appreciated if the waiter had pointed out the fee to us when we ordered, as many people will have missed the fine print at the very bottom of the menu. As we remembered, the portion served was quite enough for two people, but the lasagna itself was quite bland. It lacked any type of seasoning that one would expect from an Italian restaurant, let alone one that charged $28 for a plate of lasagna. We were also disappointed with the $1 per person charge for bread service listed on the bill. The waiter, after taking our drinks order, stated that he would bring out some fresh bread for the table. This amounted to one piece of ciabatta and one piece of focaccia per person. At no point did the waiter inform us that we would be charged this extra fee for something that he voluntarily offered to serve at the table. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting what used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Galveston again due to the poor service, nickel and dime fees, and food preparation that has taken a back seat to profits.

We had the most amazing time! Everything was absolutely delicious, the hospitality from every single person was top notch , and the restaurant itself is beautiful. I ll be dreaming about our meal forever. It takes a great owner to make it all work and this is no exception. Don was moving from table to table, checking in on customers, helping his staff, and just doing everything.

We decided to try Riondo s for our 39th anniversary. Never having been there, I knew it was a risk but had heard great things about the cuisine. We were NOT disappointed. The ambiance was perfect, old world and very romantic. The food was divine, creative and well prepared. The best part, however was the service. Our waiter, Eric Greer, was amazing. He was knowledgeable, professional and very sensitive to our needs. I ordered a series of appetizers and worried that they would all arrive at the same time. Eric told me not to worry, he would take care of the pacing. And he did. He added so much to our anniversary experience. When you go to Riondo s, be sure to ask for Eric. You won t be disappointed.

Excellent!!! The swordfish was amazing, which I got with GF pasta. Couldnt even tell it was gluten-free. The lasagna was so tasty and full of flavor. The best part of the night was when they brought dessert and flambayed it tableside. The Bananas Foster Di Fuoco is an absolute must. If you like bananas, Amaretto, rum, and vanilla ice cream, you are going to want this. Mouth watering. The service was outstanding and the environment inviting. A+++++. We will be back.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Riondo s and Kathleen, our waitress, was wonderful. My young son ordered a small pizza, and we ordered the spinach potato gnocchi with crab (yummy!) and my party loved their eggplant stack, hot fresh lasagne and shrimp scampi. Our lunch was awesome, and the atmosphere and service was spectacular. The only issue we ran into is my mother took a look at the Sunday brunch menu (we went on a Saturday for lunch) and she was disappointed that she couldn t get French toast! We shall return! Great Italian on the Strand.

I really wanted to enjoy this. this visit was inconsistent with past visits, so somewhat a disappointment. had to request our first drinks several times, refills were non-existent. pizza crust was burnt on bottom (otherwise excellent pizza) and carbonara was too runny. the I ingredients were obviously fresh, and I appreciate that they even make carbonara and nearly nailed it, but, perhaps 1 less egg and some additional cheese would have resulted in a better dish. I just expected more. would give one more try.

Went on a Sunday afternoon. Food tasted great, and service was good. However for the price, the portions were pretty small. Guess I should have expected to overpay as this restaurant is next to the major docks for the cruise ships.

Delicious food and desserts! Full bar and good selection of wines. We received very bad service at a different restaurant in Galveston and by the time we got to Riondos, it was closing time and they were full. However, after the owner heard our story, he not only welcomed us and made room for us to eat there, but he was sweet enough to give us free desserts. Thats the Texas spirit!

Went for happy hour and was very satisfied with the experience. Ruben the bartender was attentive and helpful. I had meatballs and gnocchi which was very good. My only problem was the tight seating in the bar area. I am quite tall and there were several people seated at the bar so it was difficult to get in and out easily. Overall ambiance was warm and inviting and downtown Galveston always has charm.

My husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary here last night. It was a perfect evening, from start to finish. We sat in the vault and Santini was our server. We ordered a delicious bottle of wine, recommended by our server, had the Apple wood smoked table side charcuterie board, scallops with fettuccini, and the Osso Buco. All 10/10 on taste and presentation! We had so much fun. Thank you for helping us celebrate such a special event.

Giving this place a four star rating only because the wait time for our order was way too long (two sandwiches). Especially considering we were the only two guests in the place at the time we placed our order. The food came out hot and tasted great. The server was good. The hostess was really nice. Very nice atmosphere. I would visit again when back in Galveston.

It was not great experience.. it took over 12mins to receive us at reception, evrn for taking order no one turned up for over 15 mins . Its not at all friendly place compared to other restaurants around same location. Avoid this less friendly place if you have better option . We felt as if customers r taken for granted n there is no postive vibes you get being here. Sadly .. Food was good .

Second time here & we were really hoping for a better experience. Our 1st time, I had their scallops, which were gritty. This time, we ordered a pizza. Looks are deceiving! The sauce was meh, meatballs tasted strange, & just wasnt good. The food is pricey as well. Our server, Joshua, was fantastic! That was the only thing good to say. We will not be returning and would not recommend it. There is better homemade Italian on the island.

We made a reservation for 7:00pm for four on there app. There was a separate selection for standard or outside and we chose standard because we did not want to sit outside knowing it s 54°. When we arrived they refuse to seat us inside because they were supposedly booked and would do nothing to accommodate us. So beware using their app. I personally will never return to this restaurant.

This is one of our local favorites. The food is always delicious and the space transforms from open and bright at lunch to romantic and intimate at dinner. Most recently, we came for a work gathering at lunch. We were all able to hear each other and the server was just as attentive to our large party as the service weve had when dining as a party of two.

I tried this place out yesterday since I have celiacs and they can accommodate my dietary restrictions. And I will first say I think it s very safe. I have not gotten sick, and the pasta I got did taste good. But I do feel a little ripped off. The dish itself was $24 so not horrible, though it was small and I had to eat something else at home to fill me after the meal. The problem was that to make it gluten free they charged an extra $6. It did not say the up-charge on the menu, nor did the waiter say anything when I ordered it. I got the bill and was just in shock to be honest that they would charge that much to make it gluten free. I feel like it s taking advantage of an allergy at that point.

Once Don realized what we were there for, he immediately sat with us and discussed options. In the end, Don and Riondos were the answers we were looking for. The food is absolutely amazing and Don s dedication to the customer is second to none. 10/10 recommend.
