Very neat little country style restaurant with phenomenal food and great service. I will definitely be back. The southern cuisine is great, and I highly recommend you try the pie. A nice environment that fits its theme but also shows a little bit of the Frisco history as well as the history of this restaurant that s been around for a while. Highly recommend trying this restaurant.

First time eating here. I placed an online order for chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, dressing, and broccoli. The service was good, but the food..ehh not so much. The chicken fried steak was not good at all in my opinion probably the worst chicken fried steak I ve ever had. It was very hard to eat and the breading was sliding off the meat, the mashed potatoes were okay but not terrible (I was expecting a softer texture), the dressing was a bit too sweet for my liking, but it wasn t bad, and the broccoli was definitely good! It was well cooked and fresh. Even though I didn t like the meal much overall, I m still willing to try other menu items that I m sure I ll like a lot better.

The fried pickles were very thin with no flavor, the tater tots were fried and or left sitting under a lamp for so long that they were hard, the water we were served had stuff floating in it, the bacon was under cooked... it was probably the worst meal weve had. The service was inattentive and the restaurant was practically empty. I would not recommend going here at all.

Pretty standard taste and quality here, expected maybe a bit more from all of the items we had. Bacon seemed cooked hours prior, the biscuits dry, the pancakes a bit flat and the eggs unsalted. The soda wasn t well carbonated or cold. Great ambience though. We visited around noon, maybe an earlier morning visit is better.

Did management change recently? The service and food have always been great at this location. But recently, its been going downhill.. Theres a new server with long brades and a hat that didnt even get our order right, its hard to understand him because he mumbles a lot. My girlfriend told him multiple times that she didnt want any onions on her omelet, and she ended up with a lot of onions and jalapeños I asked for the migas with chorizo and bacon, and my plate showed up with nothing but eggs mixed with red and green peppers, tortillas, and beans. I had to get bacon on the side. But we were charged for chorizo. Overall, I give them 5 stars because this has been my go-to place for over 25 years, but it might be time to find something different

We absolutely love Normas Cafe. As a family with small children it makes us so happy to find a place that we can sit and eat peacefully. I would give this place 5 stars but the A/C never works. It is way too hot in Texas to lack proper A/C. I am hoping the right person sees this and decides to do something about it. We come here often but that may change soon. If its hot for me, I can inly imagine what its like for the employees. I feel so bad for them.

Good diner vibe and well prepared food. I ve been here a few times over the past few years in visits to North Texas from Tulsa and have yet to have a bad experience. On the last visit, it was pretty dead as they had an issue with their credit card system but fortunately I had cash. That meant my omelette came out about 2 minutes after I ordered it and it was prepared to perfection. Service was fast and friendly, no complaints at all.

Must say, Im a fan of Normas Cafe for their breakfast. However, today I went there for lunch and got the meatloaf meal. Im not sure if theres any meat in their meatloaf. Tasted like tofu or something weird like that. Could only stomach a few bites before leaving the rest. The sides were ok, but small. Should have gone with the pot roast meal instead!!

When I went in to Normas in Frisco the 1st time, it was good. Ive ordered twice on Door Dash and the 1st time I ordered a BLT & it had 2 small slices of tomato that were primarily the hard white center and the bacon was rushed. Today the pancakes had a sour taste and 2 of 4 were doughy and another seemed tough. The sausage was overcooked and hard.

Where do I begin? The place was decorated so, well, cute. Its very nice to look around. The staff was very friendly. I ordered cheesesticks as an appetizer, and they were good. There were 6 so plenty for a table. My entrée was what they claimed was award winning chicken fried steak. I can say without hesitation that it most likely won awards because it was full of flavor. My sides were glazed carrots, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, all of which were equally flavorful. Then my server asked if I wanted dessert. Of course, I order the chocolate pie. One bite and instantly I was a teenager eating the pie that my aunt used to make just for me. It was absolutely delicious! Overall, Normas was a great experience and I would recommend dining here to any and everyone!

Southern food was good. I had sirloin chopped steak, turnip greens, and green beans. Also tried the chicken and cornbread dressing. Some notes to be aware of.. Cornbread is served as muffins and they use sweet corn meal. Cornbread dressing is also sweet cornmeal so a little strange tasting. I was excited to try a southern cobbler for dessert, but I had to send it back because it was more of a gummy fig pie when it was supposed to be blackberry cobbler. First of all, cobbler refers to the plops of biscuit-style dumplings placed on top when a cobbler bakes. The pastry element should be fluffy inside and toasted with fruit sugars caramelized on its surface. I recommend you avoid their version of cobbler and choose from one of the many dessert pie options they have.

Im amazed at how bad the food and service was here, compared to the original restaurant in Oak Cliff that Ive been going to for years. I took my 4 year old here for Daddy/Daughter date night. Built her up for a week on how great it was. We ordered Biscuits and gravy for her, and Chicken Fried Steak with Okra, Green Beans and Mac and Cheese for me, and two pieces of Chocolate pie.. Server took a few minutes to even stop by our table, and there were only 3 other guests in the restaurant. She never checked on us, never refilled our drinks, never pre-bussed the table. I finally flagged her down, 15 minutes after she dropped the food, to tell her the steak tasted like fish. She didnt offer to get a manager, or refund the money, but just told me shed have them cooke me another one, and then left the old one on the table. I took the new one home, and it tasted the same. The green beans were so overdone you couldnt pick them up with a fork, The fried okra is a completely different recipe than the one in Oak Cliff... more the Chicken Express kind... nasty. The cord bread was terrible, and the pie was so nasty that my 4 year old wouldnt even eat it. Ill never eat here again. Really terrible service and gross food. The one in Oak Cliff was great, but Frisco location was terrible.

Love the nostalgic touches like the soap box derby car hanging from the ceiling and the vintage artwork on the walls. I expected a more fun 1950s diner experience, though. Some fun music and higher energy ambiance would do wonders. Odette, our waitress, was super nice and provided great service. We went in for my mom s birthday, and had cake and pie. The air conditioning was not working well, but it was okay. It just lacked the fun 1950s vibe and energy I was hoping for. And no malts or shakes. In my opinion, a 1950s diner should have malts and shakes and vintage uniforms for the wait staff. Make it an experience and people will make it a destination.

This place reminded me of House of Pies in Houston. I had breakfast while my sons had lunch. Good food, good service. It was a busy place, but no wait for a table. If you are looking for good home-cooked food at an affordable price, this is your spot.

Ive been going to Normas for years but this was the first time visiting the Frisco location. The pot roast was delicious and they changed the recipe for their cornbread which were much better than in years past. Great food, great service, you cant go wrong.

I really wanted coconut cream pie and remembered that Norma s Café used to have good coconut cream pie. As far as I know, there s no place closer to me that has good pie, or so I thought. They now have meringue on all their cream pies instead of a normal whipped cream. Also, the pie filling is very thin with hardly any cream filling. What do you think should cream pies such as coconut cream, vanilla cream or chocolate cream have whipped cream on it or should it have meringue? My friend said their chocolate cream pie was not very good. I have not yet tasted the coconut cream. But in general not what I expected. Just a note, they were willing to give whip cream to go with the coconut pie so I could scrape off the meringue. The pie had more cream than you could see from the picture.

The chicken and dressing was very very good and authentic! I ate the entire plate and didnt leave anything left. The catfish plate was also excellent. The lemon pie was also the bomb!

First time ever at Normas a couple of weeks ago.... At Frisco location. Food: good tasting, not quite hot enough when served. I had chicken fried steak which was good Sides : get 3 with combo dinner but portions of the sides are small, could easily be twice the size and not be outrageous large Side salad: disappointed not at the size (adequate) but that the standard side salad is only lettuce and croutons. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS.... THATS NOT A SIDE SALAD. AND ESPECIALLY DISSAPOINTED THATI paid $ 2 exrra, ridiculously high, for the small portion of onions , chopped green peppers and tomatoes added to my side salad. $2 is more than the worth (determined by combo dinner full price) that the cost of a regular side would be, and, to me, its pretty obvious, that the side salad proper is not really a side salad so that customers will ask for added items and pay disproportionately extra for the added items... I tell it like it is. And very disappointed that my waitress did not iniform me that there would be added cost for the additions to the lettuce. Drink: reasonable, but even with inflation, overpriced, as all restaurants do nowadays (are there any ethical restaurantuars any longer? ) YES, there are. SHOUT OUT TO BRAUMS which is one of the few restaurants in DFW that has raised prices appropriately in last 2 years and not succombed to greedflation as most restaurants have. . OVEVERALL RATING/summary : Tasty food but not good value for reasons stated above. I probably will NOT return. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Increase size of side item portions 2) Serve food while it is hot 3) Develop a true side salad w more than lettuce, as a side item 4) Inform customers up front of additional costs of reasonable tweaks to menu items such as the side salad.

Its not the one in Addison, but it pretty close. The burgers are on point. Breakfast is served all day, and you have to try one of the pies or even the chocolate cake! (The chocolate cake is really rich, though, so if youre not into chocolate but want to try it, split it with someone youre with...)

We had breakfast and kept it simple, bacon, egg, hashbrowns, toast, pancakes, and cinnamon roll came with the steak and eggs called big eaters and ordered a coconut cream pie. The coffee was fresh and refilled as requested. Our server was friendly, the atmosphere was calm even as it was a busy spot. The decor was fun! Wheelchair accessibility: Parking spot and ramp available.
