The music was so loud that we couldnt hold a conversation without raising our voices at each other. We asked to turn the music down, but they ignored us. Spending $120 for a dinner for two, I expect a little better atmosphere than a beer joint. Wont go back. Used to go there all the time when it was Brasserie. Too sad. Love the food and the service, though.

Called before we drove 20 minutes to get there and they said the kitchen would be closing early at 9:30 because they were slow . They close at midnight. We arrived at 9:10 which is 5 minutes faster than I told them we would arrive and the kitchen was already closed. It s okay if you want to close early, just tell me when I call to check.

Love the decor here and how close to home it is. Usually come here for some martinis, I ve tried the hamburger, charcuterie board and chicken strips, The Burger was pretty big and the strips were really crispy and the charcuterie board was not presented like in the reviews (about a year back)but still Delicious. The music gets better later in the night. Overall, I like it here.

When this restaurant was Brasserie 1895, it was phenomenal. Service was excellent, atmosphere was eclectic, and the food was amazing. The menu was unique and the entrees never failed to satisfy. I gave it five stars after my first visit and highly recommended it at the time (probably seven years ago). Today (2024), this restaurant is B1895, a disappointing shell of its former identity. Now, the service is amateur at best, the atmosphere is pub-ish (minus a good beer selection), and the food is just okay. Frankly, Ive had better service at a Sonic drive-in. On this most recent visit, our waiter was terribly inattentive, uninformed about the food and beverage selections, and seemed more interested in talking to us about other restaurants than the one where he works. I dont know what happened here; this place used to he a hidden gem. Theres nothing about B1895 that inspires me to return. Its been downgraded to a two-star restaurant for me.

The service was not good at all. We felt there was racial discrimination at this beautiful tavern. When we got there it took about 15 minutes for waitress to come welcome us. Once the waitress get our drinks and food ordered it took longer than any else around us to get served. All the other tables we being served quickly and more attentively than us. We waited 30 minutes for our second drink at that time decided that the tavern is not for us.

Let me start with the positives. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The salmon dish was good and not over cooked. But there are many opportunities for improvement. The serving staff did not know the menu well. I asked about gluten free options and was asked if that just meant no bread . I ordered that salmon without sauce and it was good. My friend ordered the chicken and it was VERY dry. I ordered the Friendswood 75 cocktail and it was very good. But then my friend ordered it and it was a different color. When asked about it, they said that they ran out of one of the ingredients so they substituted it. Shouldn t the wait staff have asked if that was ok? All in all, the food is too expensive to have such poor service. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are limited.

This place was very nice. I felt a little awkward seating myself, but Alex walked over soon after and introduced herself as our waitress. She was really awesome about recommendations and helping me pronounce some of the items on the menu. I think it is so fun that they switch items out to keep it fresh. We started off with the salmon butter board. Alex recommended and said it was a good fishy starter. Lol she did not lie! It was good, but it really ended up being a bit too fishy for us. For our meals, we got beef bourguignon and the chicken normand. Alex told us about these as well, and they were both AMAZING! I have never had chicken like that, and I will definitely be dreaming about it for a while! The beef pulled apart so easily. They were both very unique and absolutely wonderful. We finished with a crème brûlée. It was a classic with no twists. Very delicious. We ended up spending just under $100 for 2 alcoholic drinks (amazing as well), an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert. This was such a wonderful experience and date for my husband and I. We will be back!

The food was really good here. We shared a really simple salad and some chicken tenders with lots of dipping sauces. It included 3 really big chicken tenders. Both dishes were really tasty! We were disappointed in the drinks though. Most cocktails were $14 and had really small glasses and lots of ice. It was freezing in there when we first arrived and then someone did adjust the temperature. They didnt have many customers so it is a good place if you want to spend a quiet time with your significant other or a few friends.

Yesterday I was really excited to try something new. We arrived at b1895 Tavern @ 1115AM. We arrived and appeared to be the 2nd table in the restaurant. We where greeted by a young man that said hello and filled our water glasses. Shortly, our server Hailey arrived and she was just as cute as a button. Very happy, & very welcoming. I put in my sons pancake order while my boyfriend took a personal call. I asked to wait to order until I spoke with him. Sure, no biggie, right? Well I ordered off the lunch special and half turkey sandwich with a side salad. My boyfriend was still on the phone and could not make up his mind so I ordered my meal. Minutes later her chose the chicken tenders. We waited a good 30 minutes for our food. Well, here came his chicken tenders. Hunter was an absolute sweet soul went over the 6 sauces with us. My sandwich never arrived. The server kept saying she is breathing down the kitchens neck for my food, she kept saying 3 minutes, well, the food never came. At 12:06PM my son was done eating, and at this point, I ate my boyfriends chicken tenders and decided I didnt want the sandwich. I kindly went to Hunter and told her to please tell my server (who was in the kitchen talking to the cooks) I did not want my food. She was very kind and went to the kitchen and must of relayed my order. A lady from the back came and spoke to Hunter. This last had long braids. I am not sure what she said to Hunter but Hunter came to the table very frantic saying she was sorry over and over. I told her it was not her fault. I could tell that Hunters body language and the cooks body language, the cook was not being so kind. I told Hunter not to worry about it. The server came out and said my food was almost done. I told her I didnt want it, to remove it from the ticket so we could leave. She was very kind too. So, long story short over an hour later I got my food to-go and the removed it from the ticket. I was expecting a visit from a manager. Not sure if Hunter was the manager or not. I do not think she was because after reading other reviews she was addressed as a server. I spoke with a few friends who have had the same encounter at this establishment. Obviously, there is a kitchen problem and the kitchen seems to be rude to the servers. Kuddos to Hunter and Hailey and shame on the women who came from the kitchen. *The table next to us came and got their food rather quickly, ate and paid*

First timers and last timers to B1895...We walked in about 6:05 last night, a Wednesday night, it wasnt very busy, maybe 1/3 full and the sign at front read Please Seat Yourself, which we did. After waiting a few minutes, a young man came over with menus and water, we said thanks, he said nothing and walked off. NBD. We looked over the menu, figured out what we wanted, and we waited...and waited...and waited...and waited...and nothing. Nobody came over. My wife made eye contact with several employees, but still nothing. So after 15 minutes of sitting there, we just got up and left. Its a shame, we dont live in the area, and drove about 20 minutes to try it. Anyways, we went next door to Locals Kitchen & Market which was fantastic. So our trip wasnt totally wasted.

Service is a major issue here. We were greeted by a man who was so unsure of himself, barely spoke up where we could understand him, brought us water and asked what we wanted to drink. We thought he was the waiter. He said he was not but did take my wine order while my husband decided what he wanted to drink. Then a waitress came over to finish the order and the man had missed part of my order. There is no whiskey or wine menu (which is somewhat irritating for a Tavern - drink options not plentiful, I guess). She told him she knew it, but didnt or they ran out. He asked for a double Jack on the rocks. I got my wine about 10 min before he got his single Jack neat. He reminded her of his order. Another 10 min goes by and she still doesnt bring his drink. I had nearly finished my wine at that point. I got up and asked her where his drink was. We had been there nearly 30 min before he ever got the appropriate drink. We ordered the lamb tacos (which the hubby loved) and I got a greek salad. It was very good but not overly big for $14. I chose not to add in a protein for another $14, which Im glad I didnt because it would have been $28 for a dang salad. The salad was small enough that the protein would have overpowered the salad or the protein would have been stupid expensive for a small amount. The waitress brought our ticket and it had the double Jack on it only with no pricing. My husband put a $100 bill in the folder and sent it with her. She promptly came over with an actual receipt. We were charged for 2 Chardonnays but I only ordered 1 Pinot Grigio. We didnt say anything about the overcharge, didnt want to wait and deal with it any longer. More than ready to go after the long and lenthy ordeal for a simple meal and drinks. Having said all that, the place is really nicely set up with bar tables and regular tables. Nice ambiance. Had live music and while it was loud and a little hard to have a conversation, he was reallly good and it was a nice treat. Would go back but they need to get their service situation under control.

Wanted to love this place but came out disappointed. We visited on 4/14/2023. Didnt have or were out of the drinks we were looking for originally. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary($14) not sure what they gave him but I have never seen a see-through Bloody Mary, no celery, and one little olive. The appetizers we got were the tots and the charcuterie board. The tots were good but didnt think it was worth the price ($12). The Charcuterie board was really just ok, for 18 bucks should include a little more. My dinner was salmon sandwiches and fries, about $16 bucks I enjoyed it. My husband got a BBQ Pork Rib burger and order the appetizer French fries, ($7) because the burger does not come with fries, fries were good, but the burger was MEH, and $18 bucks with no side seems a bit overpriced. My friend ordered the shrimp tacos, delicious, probably the best flavor of all our dishes, we just didnt realize they served them on lettuce, it does say on the menu, wrapped in lettuce but just didnt realize there was no tortilla also. The other friend ordered the chicken fried steak ($28) dinner, which was decent, but the worst of all the GREEN BEANS, which tasted like plastic we sent them back. We were told they were fresh but we all tasted them and agreed they tasted as if they came from a microwave freezer bag that got overcooked, so I suggest asking for a different side. The waitress was good and busy, so it was slow, but she was nice. So my overall thoughts are, overpriced food, they need to learn to make a Bloody Mary and offer more on the drink selection. Maybe if you want to try it, go on a day when they have specials to see what you think.

I gave the place an overall 3 because the food and drinks were quite tasty. The place definitely has a feeling of a first time business owner. The restaurant has really cute decor, menu has a lot of unique items, but there are some gaps. First is the service. When I came in, it was seat yourself, which is fine. The bus boy brought me water and was quite nervous and unsure of himself, but was very sweet. The bathroom has residential black toilets which had loose seats. For an establishment that has a half-price wine night, they have no wine menu. The waitress could list the varietals, but not brands. I ordered a glass, and it was quite good even though I didnt know what I was drinking. After taking our first drink orders, our waitress kept disappearing. We finished first round and were waiting for her to reappear for the 2nd. Then when we finished our meal, she seemed to have disappeared from the restaurant entirely. There was a desk at the back of the restaurant with 2 employees sitting there, not sure what they were there to do because they just sat there all night. We were looking around for a while, and eventually one of those people went into the kitchen to get her so we could pay. Food was tasty. However, I ordered the special, which was red fish, and it was an entire bone-in fish, which they did not tell us. Overall, I will not go back. Food and drinks were very overpriced for the service we received.

I write this with a heavy heart because I want so badly to love B1895. I have been eating here since they originally opened as Brasserie but my Valentines meal with them was my last straw. I have watched the service at this restaurant decline rapidly over the years and it is very disappointing. My husband and I came for Vday and left so disappointed. We had a 5:00pm reservation and the restaurant was still pretty empty. Our waitress was very unprofessional the entire night. We asked for a wine menu but apparently they do not have one which made ordering a bottle or knowing basic price points very difficult. We chose the first red she mentioned. When she brought the bottle, she didn t aerate it or let us taste the first sip to approve the bottle. Additionally, she splattered wine all over the table when popping the cork and just said oops and did not clean it up. The way the sun was coming in was directly in my eyes bad enough that I was having to use my hand to block the glare. I asked her if there was any way to close the shades a bit or move us to one of the many other open tables but she said no there is nothing I can do and the tables are already pre planned out. I would like to note that by the time we left no other people arrived therefore us moving would not have effected their schedule . Thankfully the manager saw me struggling and kindly moved our table. The 4 course dinner was extremely rushed and each plate was put down 30 seconds after the last bite of the previous dish. We ordered the lobster bisque but it should have been called lobster flavored bisque because there was not even one bite of meat in the soup. My husbands dinner arrived over 5 minutes before mine did. When dessert time came the waitress asked what we wanted to order. I said the menu says cake, chocolate, cherries , is that not one dish? She said oh I have no idea. How does our waitress not know the menu?? She then only brought us one piece though it was a per person price and I m pretty sure we should have each gotten our own. When I asked to take our wine bottle to go she very sassily said she left our wine cork at the old table and we should have brought it with us if we wanted to keep our wine. All said and done we spent almost $300 to have one of the worst dinner experiences of my life. This isn t even mentioning the fact that I watched the bartender pouring vodka into a sonic cup while we were eating. I am just not sure what kind of establishment B1895 is anymore but it is definitely not what it started as and the prices do not match the quality of service. I also, had been there early that month with some girlfriends and just got my credit card statement and they charged me over $30 more than what I was supposed to pay. They charged me $85 on a $45 meal. I ve called twice and showed up once trying to get the overpayment refunded and they have blown me off and still not handled it. They are scam artists there!

Creative chef, decent food, horrible service. Its a clearly creative chef who has come up with some interesting dishes our world needs more of. I tried three different ones and I wasnt blown away with anything, but it was decent. However, the whole dining experience was terrible. The meal took over an hour and a half. It was at least 90 degrees inside the restaurant at night and all they could manage to serve us was warm water. They brought out the rest of my partys food 20 minutes before mine. And it was so freaking hot in there other members of my party had to get up and leave. Nobody ever apologized or even seemed to care that the customers were suffering so bad. It was also very overpriced. Like a basic burger is $16 and you have to pay extra for fries. The food is not good enough to justify the prices. I think management needs to take a step back and look at the basics, improve the food, improve the service, get a damn air conditioner.

I got the Oyster nachos that had so much on them you couldve told me they didnt have oysters and I wouldve believed you. Still wasnt bad but for $18 not so much. Really should be listed as an appetizer. My wife thought her burger was alright but again for $18ish not so much. The glasses for the water also had that dive bar rotten egg smell so that was cool. Cocktails will probably be the only thing I come for next time. The watermelon smash was very good. The other dishes might be a lot better but not a great first impression.

We had a good experience overall but the restaurant is a bit confusing. In my opinion, everything was just, good. My friend said the steak was phenomenal (I dont eat red meat so Ill take his word for it.) The pictures on the internet and the price tag on the menu paint it out to be more of an upscale place but when you get there and are served it is really is a more of a relaxed atmosphere... a tavern, just like the name. Im not sure it warrants the price tags it places but I suppose it has to cover the cost of some ingredients such as the duck confit because the menu is all over the place.

Found this spot after getting an IV therapy treatment. Ashlee recommended it from the center and the food was really good! Service was great, our server was very attentive and always checked on us to ensure this were good. Luckily we split the chicken strips cause those things were huge! And it came with a lot of good dipping sauce selections and the bar had a lot of drinks to choose from. We will definitely stop in here again after we get IV therapy treatments! Great atmosphere, service and delicious food!

I arrived for a quick weekend lunch around noon and was pleasantly surprised by how quiet things were at this time. The staff are very polite and I was quickly presented with a lunch mimosa before starting on the well known chicken fried steak. The bar has a lot of options which I was not able to try during this visit but will give a shot on my next return

We have been here several times and it has progressively gotten worse. I used to rave about this place the first two times we came during the holidays but last night was pretty bad. The appetizers came out about 45mins after we ordered them. We were a group of 6 and two of our party got their food then 30mins later 1 more 30 mins later 1 more and my daughter (the one we were celebrating) was the last one to get her food about 30mins after that, when everyone had finished there food. We love the ambience of this place so we will only be returning to have drinks at the bar.

The service was excellent. The menu offered a variety of specialty dishes that ranged from chicken fried steak cooked to perfection, a type of fish taco served in a pastry, and a German dish that had all of the classics. The food was delicious, but more than that, it was beautifully served and each plate went beyond my expectation.

Our experience started off rough, but progressively got better. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. The initial waitress was a bit cold to welcome us and never greeted our table; no menu or waters for well over 5 minutes. Finally, we were about to leave when another waitress came over and brought us menus and was overall helpful. The food was really good. Some of the dishes and sauces offer are a bit of a twist to traditional flavors, which can be hit/miss for kids. Also, no kids menu at any hours, but they do have burgers and chicken tenders that work. Definitely a unique modern/chic atmosphere for Friendswood. Perhaps a good venue for locals to dress up and gather without going to Houston.

The restaurant looks very nice on the inside, but I was a bit disappointed with the food, and lack of drink options. I didn t see any non-alcoholic drink options besides the water they provide for your table - perhaps they just weren t on the menu? My husband liked his burger well enough, but I ordered the lamb tacos - which were $18 for only two tacos. Lamb meat is a little gamey, so I think the tavern tried to remedy this by making the meat oddly sweet, but it doesn t work well in the meal s favor. Our food took quite a while to come out and the restaurant did not appear very busy; there were two other tables with people seated.

Came in at 3pm on Saturday. A few people were eating and drinking. I brought my wife and mother; and yes, we were dressed nicely. We were told that we had to leave because they had to run the numbers for the new day. Makes no sense to me. But, were were told that we could come back at 4pm and they would comp us an appetizer. Can anyone explain this situation to me a little better? Reply to Managers response: We were seated by the host at a table inside and were given menus and had been sitting there for less than 2 minutes when we were asked to leave. Even if the employee thought that you didnt open till 3 like previous hours, we still arrived just after 3pm. Confusion still doesnt make since to me...

We came in and ordered before the dinner rush. We were warned that once it gets packed, the wait time for food could be longer, so we ordered as soon as we could. Half the table (of 8) got their food after an hour (which is still ridiculous) and the other half got theirs after 2 hours! And this was us ordering before the dinner rush. Not only was it ridiculous that half the table was finished with their food before the other half, but waiting 2 hours? There was a work staff that mightve been the manager (she was the only one wearing a jacket) that didnt know anything about the menu when we asked if she was giving us the correct dish or what was in it because the dish looked odd (shed answer with I dont know). Wed ask her if she could check on our food after it had been close to 2 hours and shed just stand near the entrance to the kitchen, not doing anything and coming back out going its coming out soon. You would think, Well, if the wait is that long, the food must be amazing, right? It was definitely not worth the price tag. The food was either extremely oily, or it lacked flavor. I will say though, the french fries were good. I think the only saving grace for this place is obviously the drinks and the atmosphere. Oh, and the fries.

Fantastic menu very playful every single dish that we tried was delicious from the appetizers to the main courses.... The chef here has the right idea of fusion food with an Americana backbome.... I think they still need to get together their wine menu to make it easier to select the bottles (and this world could have been because they are in transition of the theme of the restaurant) but other than that though the staff is amazing down right to the food they serve.

Salad was way too small for $14. Shrimp Tempura sauce was a salt brick melted in the rest of the ingredients. Fish special absolutely terrible. The fish did not flake because it was likely frozen and defrosted way too quickly. Drinks were okay. Service took 1 hour 30 minutes for main course. I really wanted to like this place since it s local, but I cannot recommend this place to anyone. If you want New American at these prices, go to Houston for the quality.

Really painfully slow service. Food was mediocre at best, pricing on the high side for quality and technique offered. The one star goes to the one manager who first spoke with us. Very professional and courteous, he was superb! The other manager who approached our table obviously had a bone to pick. We had already been taken care of by management. Guess that wasnt good enough for this gentleman. He asked us the same questions over, except when we told him he wanted to argue and justify the things we noted that were unsatisfactory about our visit. Just aggressive, unprofessional, and uncalled for. Rarely do I leave reviews, as I myself make a living in the same industry. This time though, I felt compelled. Dont challenge your customers, they literally pay your bills and salaries. Its literally 101 in the restaurant industry, smh. Needless to say, I will not return. Too many other restaurants doing a better job at competing for our money. I suggest you check some of them out, not this one.

Hostess incredibly rude. Absolutely zero understanding that a 7:30 reservation was not seated by 8:05. Arrived at 7:15. We without being seated for two reasons: hostess was rude and no end in wait time in sight. Brasserie 1895 needs to learn how to manage their reservations and customers. We were willing to wait a little bit longer but hostess rudeness pushed it over the edge. Update: ran into customers at another restaurant in town that we recognized that also left Brasserie 1895 for the same reason. They were even worse with 7:15 reservation. They too were frustrated with the rude hostess.

We had a variety of lunch and breakfast foods. The specialty 1895 burger was amazing. The eggs are local farm fresh, and you can tell - my kids said they were the best eggs ever. The house made jam is delicious and clearly doesnt have the loads of sugar that store bought does. The pancakes are thick and fluffy and you customize the topping.
