I had an extremely disappointing experience with Derek. I hired him to handle a serious criminal case, expecting professionalism and dedication. Unfortunately, my expectations were far from met. First and foremost, communication was abysmal. When I did manage to get in touch, it felt more like I was burdening him than seeking help from a professional. The responses were often vague and unhelpful. On many occasions, I had to address how he seemed rude when communicating with me, which only added to my frustration. Moreover, he seemed unprepared during client visits. There were multiple instances where crucial details about my case were overlooked or forgotten, leaving me feeling vulnerable and unrepresented. On two separate occasions, he stated that he was confusing my case with another of his cases. This made me feel as if he was all over the place and did not exactly know what was going on with my case. It was evident that my case was not a priority for him, and his lack of preparation was both alarming and unprofessional. Additionally, I did not feel like my case had any negotiations. It seemed as though Derek did not put in the effort to negotiate or advocate for a better outcome on my behalf. Instead, it felt like he just wanted me to plea out, without considering all the possible options. While I appreciated his flexibility with payment arrangements, this did not make up for the lack of effective representation and poor communication. On the plus side, his prices are affordable, and he does work with you on payment plans, which was very helpful. Overall, my experience with Derek was deeply unsatisfactory.
