This is only the 2nd review I ve ever left of a place which tells you how much I wanted to leave a compliment. I had the best trail ride this morning. Charlotte was my wrangler and was amazing and friendly. We had a great chat and was great company for the ride. I highly recommend taking a ride here.

At first, we thought it was just a tourist trap, but after a while, we decided to give it a shot. I must say, it was an absolutely outstanding experience. Riding a horse in this historic area is truly amazing. The horses were very calm, and the staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend this ride even to people who have never ridden a horse before. While the price isnt cheap, the experience is so incredible that its worth every penny!

The ride was fantastic and the staff super friendly and helpful. It truly felt like I d stepped back in time while atop my horse. I loved it. My only concern was and is for the horses. Are they treated humanely?? Do they get breaks so they can run free in a field and be horses? Or, are they forced to shuttle human riders on the same path day in and day out EVERY DAY of their lives? I certainly hope it s not the latter, and because I have no idea, I won t return until I know for sure the horses are happy. (They did NOT seem to be, but I m not an expert ) I would recommend the stable look into getting a Certified Humane status like the FW Zoo, if they achieve THAT, fantastic!

I recently had an unforgettable experience at Stockyard Stables in Fort Worth, TX, and I can t recommend them enough! My daughter and I had been eagerly looking forward to our horseback riding adventure, but in my excitement, I accidentally booked for the wrong date. To my surprise and relief, Sam from the stables called to check if we were on our way. I was heartbroken to realize that we were actually in North Carolina at the time! Sam was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond to rebook us for a day that worked with our schedule. When we finally made it to Fort Worth, the stables were easy to find with convenient parking less than 5-minute walk away. Upon arrival, Sam greeted us with a warm welcome and took her time prepping us for the ride. Since we were first-time riders, and I have a pretty intense fear of heights, I was nervous about sitting so high up on a horse. Sam was incredibly patient and reassuring she made me feel comfortable and confident, even when I expressed my fears. What really stood out to me was how well Sam knew the horses and their personalities. She matched us with horses that were perfect for beginners and offered gentle guidance throughout the ride, explaining when and how to guide the horse when necessary. Her calm and friendly demeanor turned what could have been a nerve-wracking experience into an enjoyable and relaxing one. The 45-minute ride along the historic Chrisholm Trail was nothing short of amazing. The scenery was beautiful, and the length of the ride was just right enough to give us a great experience without feeling overwhelming for first-timers. Sam also recommended some fantastic tours to dive deeper into the history of the Stockyards, which we really appreciated. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to offer a photo opportunity during the ride, even if it s for an additional fee. It would have been the perfect way to capture the special memories of our first horseback ride. Overall, Stockyard Stables exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend them, especially Sam, for anyone looking to explore the Chrisholm Trail on horseback. It was a unique and memorable experience, and I m already looking forward to our next visit!

Went with my mother, a good experience for those uncomfortable around horses. I did notice that the video the stockyard officially has up to represent the trail ride online where one rides under the stockyard station sign next to risksys bbq was not included in ours. Nor was our ride a full 45 minutes, actually clocked at 38 minutes, when paying the premium of $75 for an already shortened version of a trail ride I find these discrepancies important. I feel an updated representation of the NEW trail ride may be helpful, aswell ofcourse as the full 45 minutes you pay for, especially for the first ride of the day. Overall an okay experience, but lacking.

I did enjoy riding horses, just wish the trail was more wilderness/forest and longer. Overall it was nice and peaceful, except for the cars making unnecessary noise startling the horses. The horses have gotten used to most surrounding noises, but there are still certain things that frighten them like the hose on the ground and certain cars make unnecessary noises. Overall the horses know the trail by heart, they will stop to eat even though theyve been fed, gotta stop them or you will fall behind a little with the rest of the group, they explain everything how to menuver the horses and what to do when the do certain things. If the horses do get frighen, please dont be scared, stay calm and have control, and try to calm the horse down while staying in control. I had to do that because a car decided to show off and frighen the horses, thankfully no one had fallen of the horses happened. Also preferred if you where boots or big shoes, because I got my foot stuck when the horse galloped a little, my foot slid through because I was wearing small shoes and I couldnt get my foot out. So tip wear shoes that are big enough not to slide through the Sattle foot holder.

This review is only for the petting zoo. Terribly overpriced. Only goats and a few pigs present My kids couldn t wait to leave. They don t let parents enter with kids unless you pay for entry which makes sense - but you can t see inside until you pay because you have to stand back behind the entry doors and everything else is obscured behind a wall. Most of the goats were in the gated area but a few were free to just hound the people with food cups. No staff supervision inside the coral area, unless they use security cameras to supervise but I didn t notice any cameras and if there is camera supervision why didn t they put the stray goats away?? I d steer clear of this place unless spending about $30~ for a family of 5 to have a few short minutes of entertainment doesn t bother you.

Staff were all friendly and talkative. Horses were calm and friendly. I think the only one improvement I could think of especially during 100 degree days is that the trail guide carry a bottle of cold water for each person on the tour which is the sole reason why I gave 4 stars. Other than that, awesome experience!

They had nothing luckily I carry my own in my car. All in all not and enjoyable experience..

Edited to respond... Safe ride? Did you hear the part where I said the horse in front of me kicked at the mule i was put on, not just once, but multiple times? A responsible stable would never put a kicker in the line up! So, it doesnt matter the customers choice (mule vs horse) YOU decide for them? Also indicative of your business model. Oh well if YOU run an hour late... but I better be there 30 minutes early? Took 2 months for a response... pretty much says it all! Original review: We arrived on time (30 minutes early) but they were late, due to parade. We waited over an hour. NON-REFUNDABLE. I was given a mule (not a horse!) I was almost kicked 3 times by the horse in front of mine before we even left the lot. You pretty much ride along the sidewalk. Staff inattentive and ZERO wow factor. Disappointed.

Take a covered carriage or stagecoach ride on the old Chisholm trail! I was here on a weekend and the stockyards were very busy. The stagecoach and covered carriage had long lines so I decided to come back the following Wednesday. To ride the carriages or stagecoach you need to get in line after the cattle drive is finished. Look for the big black water trough with a two-car length parking pull out. That is where the carriage will pull up so the horse can get a drink of water while the carriages are loaded up. The carriage ride last approximately 15 minutes. Once it is your turn, you can either pay cash or scan their QR code which will take you to their website. The cowboy driving the carriage offered to take my phone and help me get through the website quickly to the point of payment where he handed it back to me to complete with my name and credit card information. The cost is $16 per person, $10 for kids older than five according to the cowboy. According to the website, children younger than five ride free. The driver told a family that he has a $40 minimum before leaving, so if theres only one of you you might have to wait for a couple of additional passengers. The ride on the brick roads was a bit bumpy but gives you a good idea of what travel back in those days was like! Our driver entertained us with historical facts about the surrounding buildings and areas as we passed by. I really wish I had more time to do a trail ride, unfortunately the week I was here was very rainy. I was fortunate to visit during a break in the storm. Apparently the carriage does go out light rain or shine. The driver told us about driving the previous two days in the rain. Very fun experience and well worth the price of admission!

I am a single mom and I took my young sons, 11 and 13, who had never been on a horse before. We were asked who had never ridden a horse before, and they both raised their hands and it was clear that they were with me as my arms were around them, yet when the staff decided who was going to ride with a particular horse, they put my kids on horses who were towards the back of the pack, and they put me on a horse who refused to be anywhere but at the front of the line, so I was completely separate from my kids for the entire trail ride. I asked about having my kids moved up to me or trying to move back and was told that it was not going to happen because the horses had a packing order. Staff also acknowledged that the horse I was on likes to be at the front and is very stubborn so they knew that when they put me on her and yet they did so anyways which would ve been fine if they had had the forethought to bring my children horses up towards the front as well, but they did not, so my children were nowhere near me in a long line of horses for their first horseback riding experience. It defeats the purpose of doing things with my children when I can t share it with them, there was absolutely no consideration given to our family situation at all by the girl putting us on the horses, or any of the staff for that matter. So it was a complete waste of my money, and it ruined the experience for my 13-year-old who did not enjoy himself at all and was nervous the whole time and of course I spent the entire time worrying about my kids and how they were doing and trying to look backwards at them so it was ruined for me too. Some of the staff was nice, the gentleman leading the trail ride was a friendly guy, but overall, due to the lack of consideration given by the staff to the riders who had paid to be there, it was a really negative experience for us.

Enjoyed our time at the Ft. Worth Stockyards. Especially the carriage ride. The only draw back that we encounter is the scan thing to pay for parking and other stuff. While I guess the younger people are okay with doing that for seniors its just a big hassle. Kind of like throwing your rope at the calf, and just catching air. As a matter of fact, we didnt do everything that we intended to do for that reason. Walk up to something and see the scan the QR thing, and just walked away. It started when we first parked, and we couldnt get to work using my wifes phone. So then she tried texting the number, but that didnt work either. So I tried with my phone (identical to her phone), and it took three times before I finally got the parking paid. With the carriage ride, the nice lady driving helped get it done, and it only took twice. Im sure there are some reasons for doing it that way, but like I said we skipped thing we had intended to do simply because it was scan required. I gave it four stars only because of the nice lady driving the carriage.

I want to start by saying we did NOT book a ride, nor have we ever rode with this particular stable. I am unable to give a full review in regards to how an actual ride is, but based on the reviews posted, I m sure it would be great! With that said, I would like to post a little review based on our limited interaction with a trail guide on 7/30. We were visiting the stockyards with our family that included many young children. As we were walking along the street on the sidewalk, we observed a group of riders being guided by a young lady down the street. We stopped to show the horses to our young children, ages 1-4. We were quickly and rudely yelled at, being told that we needed to back way up. I looked around to see if she was indeed talking to us, as we were on the sidewalk that is designated for pedestrians. We went ahead and took a couple more steps back to respect her wishes. She then proceeded to yell, inferring that we didn t/must not speak English. I found this extremely inappropriate, as there were several individuals standing nearby that likely didn t speak English as a first language. The exchange with this particular guide gave us a poor image of the stockyards as a whole, when it shouldn t be seen that way, as it truly is a great place to take your family. As an individual who has experience being a trail guide and working with and around tourists, I tried to justify her actions with she was likely hot and stressed, or simply having a hard day. It s a big job to keep not only your riders safe, but those around them. At the end of the day though, this can be done in a kind and respectful manner. As previously stated, the reviews posted for this stable seem to be great. The horses and their tack looked well taken care of and safe. All the horses followed in line and were not giving their riders any problems. It s a shame that our limited encounter with the guide was so poor, because this stable does seem like a great place to check out.

The guide was super friendly and the tour was very nice, but quality-price lacked something. The ride is very expensive and is really made for tourists, not for people who ride like us. I had a great time, but taking into account the price and the fact that we were alone and I knew that we were riding, we could have allowed ourselves to trot a bit, Im not saying gallop anymore, to add excitement to the thing. And if it is not possible due to regulations, a book of digital photos should be included. We asked to take a couple of areas but they did not turn out very photographic.

Stockyard stables horse back riding was a great adventure for the family. First time our kids have done horseback. 16 and 12 yr olds. They did great. we only did the 30 mins which was perfect since it was warm and quite dusty on the trail. My only issue (minor) was that we didnt get to ride next to or near our kids...cant always control where the horses go, but the guides didnt try to keep us together...my assumption they would have. Next time I would ask if we can try to stay close together at least so we could get some group pictures. The horses seemed mild mannered however I would have appreciated an opportunity to demonstrate what they instructed us before getting on the horses.

I feel very robbed of what should have been a nice experience for my boyfriend and I. First of all this place isnt the easiest to find and no one answered the phone when I called several Times before my scheduled ride time. I booked a 30 min ride for $50 each. The instructions given to us about how to ride and give instruction to the horses were very vague! And the horses didnt even react or respond to half of them, if I had no experience riding I would have been scared! Our guide was less than personable and his horse didnt seem to like him very well because he wouldnt follow direction well. It took us literally 20 min to get to the trail along the trinity because of car traffic and that damn train!! We had to be in a straight line and I couldnt even see my boyfriend to enjoy the ride with him. Some poor girls horse decided to go his own route and again we had to stop and wait for the guide to go round her up. This was by far the worst riding experience Ive ever had. They should have started out ride time once we passed the RR tracks!! I feel I should have a refund but I doubt that will happen. But if I can save anyone else from a bad experience and some money by my review then I feel like that is restitution enough!

I was in town for a few days like my boyfriend was playing chess at the Westin in Irving. I had tried to get into Benbrook Stables and time wise just didnt fit. Then I looked online and have always LOVED the Ft. Worth stockades and thought Id call and see if there was an option. The first few times I called it said mailbox full but then I tried 1 more time, spoke to a nice lady and said if I get there by 130pm, Ill be able to reserve a ride for 315pm. I had my cowboys boot with me, walked up and a nice young man & lady said there were plenty of spots available, I got registered and was so excited. I havnt gone horseback riding on trails or anything in 17 years since I was 20 so I was very eager with anticipation. I went back at 3pm to get ready and loaded up. I spoke to Jackson about weather, he said the weather would be fine. I said I dont want a crazy horse so he paired me REALLY well with Beth. I got on and my nerves kicked in & my anxiety. I knew it would take time to adjust. As I was going thru the ride I could feel my heart racing and shaking, Beth started moving weird (to me) not feeling overwhelmed thinking I didnt know what I was doing so I got help and Jackson the trail guide came up and said listened to my concern, reassured me that he personally knows Beth the horse, trained her for weeks+ before she was guest ready and shes a follow-the-leader horse. She responds well to commands with the reigns. Beth would start to go one way or moving different than she had and I would start to panic but he was there to show me. As I got comfortable I was able to control the reigns on my own (no matter how small that may sound) to me, it was a HUGE feat. I wasnt scared going up the curb going back like I had initially been going down the curb starting off. Beth trotted a few times but after sitting back in the saddle and not up straight, It was fun. Jackson said let me stay by you for a bit and get in front of you. He stayed close throughout the trail to keep me calm and just giving me pointers. I faced my fear head-on, kept breathing through the nerves to help me get through it but the biggest thing was JACKSON with his calmness and reassurance; his positivity with me YOU GOT THIS, respectful very professional & polite. After about 40 mins, I started really just look around and wasnt so tense. Jackson is the BOMB trail guide and Beth was a fantastic horse. next time I come back, I definitely will come to the Ft. Worth Stockyard Stables. I believe things happen for a reason and it was fate that I was able to get a great experience & opportunity at the Ft. Worth Stables. I knew if I didnt try it and back out or quit half way through, I would have regretted it. I left truly with a huge smile on my face b/c Jackson made it better and I didnt have to be tense and the oh my goodness the entire time like a roller coaster ride. Thank you for all yall do at the Ft. Worth Stockyard Stables.

During the ride, the guide was yelling at us when the horses fell out of line, but I m pretty sure that besides himself, no one was trained in horse riding, so naturally we d have a lack of knowledge or confidence to control horses we d met less than an hour before. It had other things as well, but I loved the wide selection of tea. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The carriage ride was fun. The also had a tour with an open buckboard type wagon. The shoot out with the sherriff, deputy and (of course) robbers, was a little gun show. The actors had fun with it as well. There was a great band that played. They were great. The long horns were fun to see. They kept it small for safety and the cowboys were good at keeping the cattle in line as well as some overzealous observers. They were professional and kind. The train ride was also fun. The ticket holder was very informative and nice. On the train, everyone was friendly and kind. They seemed to love what they did. They had women suffragettes on board. They went from car to car passing out pamphlets and giving a brief history regarding women rights to vote. Everywhere we went, we had a great time. If you have time, the Cowgirl Museum is a must see!! The staff is very informative, friendly and so willing to help. They had lots of info, pics, some photography that depicted Annie Oakly at a show as well as scenes from the Wild Bill Hickok show. Lots of history and some things donated from Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert. They had history from the 1800s to the 2000s. Highly recommend seeing both the stockyards and the museum!!

Roma was super knowledgeable about the area and was quick to point out places of interest along the way.
