We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were good, but neither one of us was a fan of the pimento cheese, which is served on top along with a hot sauce. If you like pimento cheese, youll probably love them. Our entree was the Guajillo burger with onion rings and the Badlands BBQ burger with fries. Both were good. The burger itself was cooked nicely. The candied bacon was delicious. Neither of us could finish the hearty plate. The service was impeccable! So inviting, friendly, and attentive.

Good hearty food here. The portions are generous. They have a kids and a happy hour menu, both of which have great deals, AND their margaritas are big and yummy. There are TVs all over if youre trying to catch a game. The parking lot is deceiving - almost always looks full, but weve never had a long wait (if any at all).

Was so excited to finally try this place, burger was extremely disappointing. Condiments and bacon were on point but the patty was greasy, dry and tasted like they dont use a single ounce of seasoning, just straight mediocre beef. Fried also had no seasoning. Fried pickles were perfect.

The food is overpriced, greasy, and bizarre food combinations. These service is absolutely horrendous. We asked for our check 35 minutes later she brought it to us we immediately had our credit card but she did not take it she returned for 17 minutes later for it and then 22 minutes later she returned our credit card and the receipt for us to sign. Thank you for holding us hostage and your establishment for an extra hour and 14 minutes. We seriously contemplating just canceling the card and leaving.

Went during burger week when the featured burger was discounted. Thank you! Comfortable atmosphere with vintage Texas tunes playing in the background and sports on TV. Got the Verde Burger with cheese and green chiles and a drink. Burger was amazingly good as were the fries! Large drinks free refills and happy to give you a to go drink. Highly recommend

Alphabet date led us to Freds Texas Cafe for the letter F and came highly recommended! Very well-known for plenty of good items, especially the burgers, sandwiches and chicken fried steak. Today, we tried: Fried pickles, Smoked Bologna sandwich, The Whistlestop Burger and The Spicy Todo Jalepeno Burger. STJ Burger 4.4/5 - this burger is made with fried jalepenos, bacon, jalepeno cream cheese, and homemade jalepeno jam on a cheddar jalepeno bun. By far my favorite burger of the 2 we tried. This wouldve been a lot higher rating if it did come with the cheddar bun (mine was regular) and if my beef patty was cooked to my liking (no offer). Still a pretty high rating, and the best part was the jam! Bun was buttered and toasted to perfection. Definitely a must try if you love all things spicy. W Burger 3.7/5 - this burger comes with creamy pimento cheese spread, fried green tomato, fresh pico, Sriracha rémoulade and lettuce. Again, bun perfectly buttered and toasted. Again, rating wouldve been higher with a medium patty. Overall, the star ingredient was the combination of the rémoulade with the pimento cheese spread. Could use more pop of flavor to bring out every ingredient. SB Sandwich 5/5! - Smoked Bologna seared in Freds Badlands BBQ sauce, accompanied with bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo served on buttery Texas toast. This sandwich was near perfect! The smoke flavor on the Bologna stood out. Every ingredient complimented the next, down to the mayo and crispy, buttery toasted Texas toast. I will be back for this alone! Fried pickles w/spicy ranch 4.7/5 - banger appetizer. The pickles were seasoned (can, clearly see the pepper flecks) and the spicy ranch was a perfect dip. Only complaint with this batch was the amount of grease that remained (maybe not drained long enough Overall, an amazing experience with friendly and attentive staff. 4.5 rating out of 5!

Been a fan of Freds for decades. Finally went and tried the Bolo Burger. Not a fan of onions, so I ordered it with lettuce and pickles in place of the fried onion strings. Well, the first attempt was wrong, it did have lettuce and pickles, but also the onion strings. The waitress took it back, and the kitchen scraped them off, just like I was going to do. I do wish I would have at least got a fresh top bun. Oh well, on with the review. I wanted to see the cross-section of the burger, so I cut it in half. I didnt realize that there were two slices of bologna on the burger! What a nice surprise. The first bite was a little messy, but I managed to get all the ingredients into one bite. It was pretty close to amazing. I never would have thought about putting bologna on top of a burger, but Im so glad I tried it. Finished the burger in short order. I ate my fries, but they were just a little cold. All in all, 7.5 out of 10. It wasnt very busy, so maybe the kitchen wasnt too enthused about reading the whole order. But it was still pretty good.

If youre coming here based on what you saw on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, you might be disappointed. First off, theres nothing on the menu that makes you go WHOA! Its all stuff you can find just about anywhere else. Plus, theres no steak option on the menu like there was when the restaurant was featured on Triple D. That was a huge disappointment. The food is also really expensive, but they have huge portion sizes that sort of make up for that. I would recommend their fried pickles as an appetizer. Overall, this is not a place we plan to visit again.

Service was terrible, and the food was WAY overpriced for what it was. The Service: When we first arrived, the manager (or whoever it was) had to flag down our waitress because we had been there for 10 minutes without even getting a menu. I asked for no cheese on my burger, and yet when it arrived it was covered in cheese. Ok, fine. Not a big deal, I ll just send it back and have it remade. That is if I was able to flag down our waitress. She was almost completely ignoring our table, and spent most of her time standing around watching one of the TV s and talking to coworkers. (It was not busy at ALL, we were practically the only ones there.) Then when she finally made her way back to our table to check on us, I politely informed her that I ordered my burger without cheese. She had an attitude about it and seemed annoyed that I would dare send back an item that was incorrectly made. After receiving the corrected order, our waitress again went back to watching TV and otherwise ignoring us. I should also note that almost EVERY table in our surrounding area was not cleaned and still had old food and mess sitting on it. This remained the case for the entire time we were there. Not appealing to look at. The food: Was okay at best. The fried pickles were pretty good, but other than that it was lacking. The burgers were pretty bland and bread heavy. For $18 a burger + fries? No. I can get a better burger for half the price, AND have better service. Plus after leaving, both me and my partner have upset stomachs. Overall will definitely not be returning.

We visited Fred s on Camp Bowie today after our youth baseball game with a party of 13 and were immediately seated. The Food and Cold Drinks were excellent! The queso was incredible & the kids tried Fred s Big Red Birthday cake which they loved! Our server Daralynn was attentive and friendly. When the Manager David visited our table we though our kids were being too wild in the game room ,but he had good news for us and blessed us with an incredible MLB surprise during MLB All-Star Weekend. We cannot thank Fred s, David, Daralynn & Sage the official accounting software of the MLB & Fred s for such a wonderful experience & treat! Our team will never forget your generosity!

I was very disappointed came in me and my friend got seated. Staff walked past us. We waited 30 minutes, intill we got up and left. No one seem interested in getting our order or even asking us want we want to drink. The young man just ask if we wanted a booth or a table. Seated us and walked away. Than you have staff wondering around like the seem lost. Overall my friend and I felt unwelcome. Our Freds burgers were okay. I used to live by the Western Street location and would eat there all the time. I wanted to check out this location. Unfortunately Im handycap and the parking is horrible and its too far of a walk for me to go in. I wish Freds the best of luck. Wheelchair accessibility: They do not have normal handycap size parking. I struggled getting out of my car as the vehicles are so close together. The entrance is in the middle of the restaurants. I didnt know where to go, but I was lucky enough to follow people to find out.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was told by an employee at the entrance to sit anywhere. I was ignored for abou 15 minutes even though a waitress passed by the table several times. Dining at Fred s Texas Cafe was an incredible experience. The food was exceptional, capturing the essence of Texas and Fort Worth vibes perfectly. Has the chicken quesadillas , turned out to be mostly onion. My wife paid our bill and was waiting for our meeting to be over . Service was great. The fred original burger was good. Half pound patty. Great serving of fries come with it. Ranch water was $9 is about the only thing I can say about the place that I didnt like. Outside that everything else great. Will return!

This was my first time eating here, and honestly, I thought the hamburger was not that great. There was nothing about my dish that I ordered that Id go back for. My husband liked his burger, but hes not as picky. Too me the patty had no flavor like they didnt season it. The atmosphere was cool and they had a lot of big television for sports and movies to be played on. A band was supposed to play the night we went but cancelled at the last minute.

I couldn t wait to try Fred s after seeing him being interviewed on tv. Upon entering, the sign says to seat yourself. We did, next to the warm fireplace. I stayed standing because the table had food ALL OVER IT! When the waitress came up, she ignored it and laid the menu s down on right top of it. I very kindly asked her if she would please clean the table. She snapped back with an excuse that she thought she would take our drink order first. My thought was why would you even set menu s down on a dirty table? Then, she came to the table and took one, literally one, swipe at my side of the table. She never even wiped the other side where my family members were sitting. There was still food All Over The Table. Now, that was uncalled for! I got up and went to the restroom, which was clean by the way, got paper towels wet with soap and went back to clean the table myself. She watched me do it, then was extremely polite after that. I couldn t decide if she was just uneducated on how to do her job, or just being obstinate at first, so I said nothing to the manager. Maybe I should have? Either way, we loved the food and atmosphere, but were completely taken aback by the attitude and effort of the waitress in the beginning.

First time in, the service was phenomenal! They make you feel like family. Be ready. The burgers are big. Theyre chili was wonderful. My server was so sweet and helpful ask for Daralyn she knows her way around the menu. Thank you for an amazing first experience. I will be back.

If you re black, don t even go, they make it very clear they don t appreciate our money. Second of all, the food is MID I had their cheeseburger and it taste like absolute garbage. The bartending lady was so very rude, although I showed her the upmost respect. I was the only person there and my food took about 25. I wouldn t recommend this place to my worst enemy.
