This is the First time in almost a decade where I feel like maybe there is hope. I have had nothing but terrible experiences in the courtroom in the past. With my emotional and physical accounts drained, I had no choice but to bend the knee to my ex and his family with anything involving our son. But I think I may just have found the crutch I need to be able to fight for what is right and true.

I definitely DO NOT recommend. The communication is not good. I would send an email to ask questions, If the email was not replied to within 2 to 3 days, I would send another email trying to follow up, Then I was charged $87.50 for every email that I had sent to get a response back once. Upfront costs are not clear, Any questions I have or even if they send me an email I am charged for it. I just got billed $600 and I thought everything was done. Looking at the reasons for the $600 was for to close my case as well as answer any other questions I might have. I definitely do not recommend as this was not a pleasant experience.

I spoke with Mike McEntire one hour after calling the office for a consultation and I was blown away by his confidence, knowledge, and willingness to help. This law firm is definitely a joke. Do notttt bring in your case with them they do not care ! All they care about is taking your money and acting as if they did all they could to help you out! My case was never brought to court and i spent over 8,000 the charges they have on there are meaningless. My child support agreement is a disaster it was modified but nothing is explained correctly. I have had three different lawyers because they kep getting let go and i would have to re explain myself to each one of them about my whole case. If i could give them negative stars i would they need to shut this place down no one there knows what they are doing they are just there for the money they really took fake it till you make it literal. Mark is the biggest gaslighter ever promising to be the cheapest law firm and paying the retainer was going to be enough for them to start the process after that the payments of $1200 kept coming in every other week and still do.

DO NOT TRUST THESE CROOKS I told them that i would have to borrow money to pay this and tbey told me it wouldn t be anymore. As you can see there lying crooks. Never trust them.

This was a very pleasant experience . Sadly I had to get custody of my granddaughter to keep her out of harms way or being taken by CPS because my daughter just is not ready to calm down. I contacted The Law Firm and they listened to every need, they have listened to me cry, they have listened as I panicked and they have heard me now with tears of joy! 2 days ago I was awarded Sole Managing Conservator over my granddaughter and that was not easy.. in my county if there is no father and you have no idea who it is you have to go through so many processes to prove that. They got me through it so it took a few more months than I expected but poor Mark Childress had to talk me down when I would panic. Ha Ha he was amazing. (Trust me he is not paid to listen to this but his heart could not let me feel worried) I wonder if I drove him crazy. He would tell me Rick Mitchell (my attorney) had it all under control but if you know me I want the head of the Household and it says The Law Firm of Mark Childress so I always called him as well. Thank you so much Mark for putting up with me. Thahn, you were so calming.. when you would send my emails for Clio you explained everything and to see you as excited as me warmed my heart. Another attorney Haylie chimed in and she was amazing as well. As far as PAYMENT... what a fair price this was to have my granddaughter and keep her out of harms way. I would not have found anyone cheaper than them.. I looked into a lot of attorneys before I hired them. They deserve more than 5 stars!! They care, they called my granddaughter by her name , they even would ask how my daughter was doing because they knew this was difficult for me and that I was worried about her. Thank you all at the Law Firm. I am a big baby crying right now as I feel like we may never talk again... but you better block me mark because I will be sending pictures and updates on how we are all doing including momma. The picture of me and my granddaughter .. I am telling her to say thank you and the other one is just her cute little self.

I wouldnt even give this place one star. ITS A SCAM. Save your money. I went for a simple divorce and they sat on my case for over a year and a half and never did anything. 5,000$ dollars later Ive yet to even sit down with a lawyer or get any kind of legal advice. And Im just trying to see my only child hes almost 5 now and Ive only seen him 2 times in person. Please dont give these bloods suckers a dime of your time or money

This is by far the worst law firm / lawyer I have ever experienced! They sell you big on the retainer cost and all that it will include and then actually charge you to take your retainer payment! Ate up a 4K retainer in 1 trip to the courthouse! Bills in access of 2k with side notes that state phone confrence with managing attorney and the list goes on forever! Had I gotten a very experienced lawyer I still couldn t understand these charges but the lawyer I got was very embarrassing she knew nothing about the case in court and actually got nothing done I feel I could I have handled myself! So I fired this firm and the bills just keep rollin in! I do not recommend you use this company their services are not up to par and crazy expensive for very little service!

So this is my $11,000 1-Star review and I would give them a Negative Star review if possible!! After reading these reviews, this so called Law Firm will argue a bad review more than your case in court. My situation started right before COVID so that definitely delayed things. I was offered to do a zoom meeting with the court and my ex wife and my attorney Elizabeth B. agreed that there was just way too much going on with my case for just a zoom meeting so we waited. Once we were allowed to go into court and in front of the judge, the date was set and we were ready to go and present our case!! Well here comes the fun part, my attorney that knew Everything about my case was let go literally just 1 week before our court date and I was issued a new attorney (Melissa G.) that had just joined the firm and she had No Clue about my case. She emailed me and said that I needed to fill out an entire new client form and I told her I have already done that nearly 2 years ago at this time. She responded and said that they had Nothing on file for me and I needed to do another one or she wouldnt represent and she emailed me the form. What she emailed me had All of my information but yet I got billed / charged for have this communication with her. I brought this up to her and she said sorry but thats what had to happen for her to show up to court. Let me tell you, she had of been fresh out of Law School or just didnt care much about my case. After court was over that day and Melissa had just gotten Run All Over by the opposing Attorney, I simply had to tell her that she was fired!!! This so called Law Firm was Only interested in racking up my bill, total of $11,000 and come to find out that at the last hearing, Melissa G. agreed for me to pay the opposing counsels Attorney fees also. You want to talk about being embarrassed knowing that I hired this so called Law Firm to represent me...... I could go on and on but you get where I am going with this 1-Star Review and I decided to represent myself. I got way further than Any Attorney from this so called Law Firm by doing so and I got to keep my 50/50 visitation and custody of my child!!! If you are considering this so called Law Firm to represent you, I Highly Recommend looking elsewhere because all this so called Law Firm will do is rack up your bill and get you absolutely Nowhere!!!! Like I said earlier, this so called Law Firm will argue this 1-Star Review more than they will your case!!!! Anyone deserves better than these people no matter how big or small your case might be. You owe it to yourself and your family to look elsewhere than here!!! Did I mention that I was charged $150.00 for the receptionist to give my attorney a note to call me?!?! I ended up declining to use their services, but still give them 5 stars. I declined because during my initial consultation, they advised me there was a better (and cheaper) way to go about resolving my issue without them. Its encouraging to see them give advice like that instead of just taking the easy paycheck. During my divorce process I called Mark childress office and they said that my divorce would be only $2500 and it wasn t like that. During this process I was blessed to work with Brenda Colón and ended up leaving this office and move on with Brenda and her new law office. I found Brenda and she was great, she helped me and explained every step of the process. Thank you Brenda for all your help. Mark childress has lost a great attorney. This is the worst firm ever. We had a case for my niece seeking for custody for her own child. But the so called lawyer Brenda Colon did not even show up after making the family pay over $21,000 in less than three months. The case went south and the person who was representing the lawyer on that court date had no clue about the case and made the case impossible to win. We lost the case and the money completely just because of their negligence. My niece has her parents alive and well to do but the firm didn t even secure the custody to her grandmother. It is very sad case and so absurd how they handle the case. I would sue the firm if I had the money. Do not go to this firm for any case. Above, I mentioned the name of the lawyer not the client. Plus, I said the lawyer didn t show up instead she sent another lawyer to represent her who had no clue about what was going on. By the way, Brenda Colon, the initial lawyer is now fired from this firm. They said they never had a lawyer by this name but that is a complete lie. Save your money and save your life by not going to this firm.

I would not recommend this law firm for anyone, unless you just wanna spend endless amounts of money. Our case had to be put on hold for an indefinite time . I was told by their manager not to pay until they started back up again. Then I get a letter saying they re dropping me because I didn t pay a bill? I questioned them on it , and of course it s gonna be my fault or your fault. They re smooth talkers ! but that s all they are. They don t get the work done that s needed. The communication is poor if not at all . When I questioned thier withdrawal from my case, they wanted more money right away , and the attorney that I was working with was let go for some reason??? the new attorney that was going to be on the case was rude , and treated me more like I was the one that should be on trial. She told me that I had no excuse for ignorance! I have never been involved with an attorneys office that works this way, Or treats their clients in such a uncaring attitude. I agree with one of the previous reviews that it is definitely a scam. I am sure that they ll come out with all kinds of excuses, which they ve done with everyone else that have posted a review. If you re smart, don t use them !!!!! They will take you for everything they can. I ve had to find another attorney, and that Attorney is appalled at what these people do.

This firm seems as though they have pretty good reviews. I suspect if you have the amount of money needed at your disposal they are great. In my initial conversation with Mark I stated that I had another attorney tell me that she was going to require a $4,000 retainer and that I could not afford that. Mark responded telling me that $4k was pretty steep for a child custody modification that was non contested. He stated that he requires a $2,500 retainer and that any monies not used would be reimbursed. I agreed to move forward. Within a couple of days they emailed me the proof and I had to ask them to correct grammatical errors on their part as well as change one address. The next day I get a bill for nearly $600 more dollars which I contested. They dropped the payment to $400, which I paid. They emailed my ex the modification and charged me another $50 and requested another $750 for a trust payment. Ive had an attorney do a complete divorce for $1,500 and this divorce was $2,000. I cannot justify paying the amount they require for a child modification. I wish him and the firm were people of their word. Its unfortunate that there are people and business out there that pull shenanigans like this. If youve got all kinds of disposable income feel free to reach out to this place but if you want honesty, integrity, and a man of his word, look elsewhere. I should have paid attention to the negative reviews online. After I already hired this firm I asked about them in a couple of Facebook groups and I got several bad responses similar to mine and others. UPDATE after their response: They will respond with this generic response on reviews or through email. They totally avoided answering my initial questions on why I was told by Mark $4,000 is too steep for a non contested child custody modification... and then yet to continue to bill me up to $4,000. It would have probably been more if I continued using them.

This is the worst law firm. I don t recommend it to anyone whatsoever. I had a great lawyer who was taking care of my case Brenda and the one time she was sick these people sent another lawyer Madison to represent me on my trial and she did nothing. She sat there and allowed the OC to crucify me and they cost me my son. I lost all right to my son when there was no reason for that to happen. They are so greedy and so selfish and all they want is money after money. I paid almost 27000 to these people just for them to lose my case and make me lose my son. Horrible law firm and I don t recommend it to anyone. Please please don t waste your money here. Me and my family made a huge mistake by trusting these people. Overall a pretty bad firm to work with. No idea if they are good lawyers because they will nickel and dime you to the point where you have to go on administrative hold and not ever get to court. Was told by Mark that this was a very simple case that would cost $4500 and take 6-8 weeks. At 22 weeks in they request another $1000 so we schedule a call with our assigned attorney to figure out why and she tells us that she has never seen a case like this end in 6-8 weeks and that our case was pretty much done we are just waiting now. We pay them the $1000 and exactly 7 days later they inform us that we need another $1000. Checking the most recent bill $600 of our most recent $1000 all was charged by the billing clerk for 3 emails she sent. It took them 22 weeks to go through $4500 and only 7 more days to go through $1000. You cant schedule a call to talk to anyone about the crazy fees and where the case is because of course that just costs more money so you are stuck dishing out 1000s of dollars to never know where your case stands or when the money pit will stop. Long story short: Mark lies to get you in the door and his hounds rob you of every penny you have.

They bill you for nothing they call you them charge you they ask for more and more money but dont do anything for you they arent honest about their costs upfront they arent polite or professional about how they go about dealing with people after they take your money they charge you if they make a mistake and you ask them to double check they hold your case hostage to make sure you pay and they drag out your case so you have to keep paying I wouldnt recommend them to anyone avoid them at all costs find a different lawyer update they will withdraw if you file a complaint about them doing nothing and charging you for it

This attorney was highly recommended to me by a friend. I was looking for a lawyer who was aggressive with my interest in mind. I spoke to an attorney as a free consultation and felt very positive it would be a great fit. This feeling quickly dissipated once I arrived for court. I never got a call with an attorney before the court AND NO ONE showed up before the scheduled court! I called and left a message to the office as well as texted them. Still, no response. The court was scheduled at 9 and around 9:06, one finally showed up. She told me she was on another case and will be back once she has finished with it. I waited another hour and 15 minutes for her before she arrived. She spoke with the opposing counsel and the judge for approximately 10 minutes and reset my court date. She called me later that day to go over my case, shortly after the start of our conversation, she told me she had to call me back because HER MECHANIC was calling her! I, her paying client, was set aside so that she can tend to her personal problem. She did call me back to review my case. When I explained all the evidence I have and what would be best to send to her, her response was to send over everything. Later I found out that every time she reviews, re-reviews, or re-reviews again, I get billed for 15 minutes every time. Weeks later, we went to court again. Never saw the court room but sat inside the family council room. My attorney and the opposition maybe took 30 minutes discussing our wants and we came to an agreement. Because she was dealing with other court cases, I was there for a little over 3 hours. So, here is why I gave it 1 star... No communication prior to court. Charged for the text asking where my attorney was when she was late. Charged again for the phone call and message left to the office asking where the late attorney is. Charged again for emailing a question. Charged over and over and over again it seems like every time my case is thought of. Remember those 3 hours of me waiting for her while she was tending to other clients court hearings? Yep, I was charged those 3 hours as well. I was charged again for her to make a trip to the courthouse when I fired her and she had to remove herself from my case. If I call to question my bill, yep... charged again for the inquiry. 2 court dates reset, 30 minutes of phone calls, and yet... no progress made = $7k. Save yourself some money and be free from stress by hiring another law firm who actually spends time for their clients and fights aggressively for them! This law firm only knows how to bill their clients to death!

I would say he is a foot turner and a fee chaser in the end, but he is a good attorney and a good man to my knowledge. If anything request Kelly to be your Paralegal and only interact with him in dire need. Because he will bill you for forwarding emails you already recieved and just to look at your trust fund and bill if you owe money. But mainly Kelly is a Saint and redeems all of those things in the end. Still gave 5 stars so it wasnt all that bad on Marks end and like Ive already said Kelly is a true hero.

I spent over 12k before any pre-trail and then now they are requesting another 5k from me. This place is a SCAM. They do not care about you or your case. They will eat up your retainer with frivilous charges checking your balance everyday. They will send you multiple copies of papers just to eat your retainer up. Dont even get me started about the bad advice. My exes lawyer had to come find me for court as my lawyer was no where to be found and the stand in senior partner was so busy with other cases and unfimiliar with mine he had no idea who I even was. So then the lawyer they had stand in for her finished off my retainer which was $5k plus charged me another $1k to get me 4 hours a month visitation supervised which is exactly what the other side was asking for so basically I was charged a lot of money for my ex to have another lawyer which is definitely not good faith conscerning my case. I could have done all that myself and saved myself $6k so after all that they then want to schedule another $2k court appearance in a month and demand more retainer money or wont even schedule it I asked to speak with my lawyer about what is next as far as my case goes just in case I want to let them go as they have been rather unhelpful and they refused to let me speak with them until I put another 2k in my retainer (they charged me $117 for that 5 min conversation to ask to talk to my lawyer, yes you heard me correct). The worst of it is when I fired them off my case they charged me $2475 to file 1 paper to the court and a bunch of checking my balances on my retainer at $37.50 per click apparently. Worst lawyers of all time, save your money!! Also dont pay any attention to the obviously fake reviews below that have 5 stars they are bought and paid for by the people they prey upon. Dont be one of them!...... UPDATE 12/7/23 so the new lawyer I have on my case has stated its conscering to me that they had recommended you to accept supervised visits as it wasnt necessary for that to happen and it is potentially damaging to your case and that I should have been directed to counter affidavit instead of agree to what they said would be the best decision for my case. According to the stand in lawyer from this firm who was unfimiliar with my case the judge may not have time for your case today and would have to rescheduled for another date, so it would be best for your case and your time that you are missing to set it up this way an then have the order changed in a month instead of drawing up a counter affidavit and dirceting me to collect affidavits from witnesses before the court date to submit that day... I had not had any time with my son for 2 years and acting out of desperation to see him, agreed to the legal advice I had payed them to receive. Little did I know that it was just a ploy to extract more rescources from me and not a legal advisement done in good faith. I will continue to update this as more of your firms follys are uncovered during progression of this case.

I would highly recommend hiring Mr. Mark Childress as your attorney. Mark worked quickly to insure our children stayed with us during our cps case. Starting off with I wanted no lawyers for my divorce when my ex husband got a lawyer I knew I needed to as well. I called many firms and spoke with expensive and not expensive attorneys and heard almost the same thing from everyone .except Mark! Mind, Mark had only 4 days to prepare for court and this was no simple divorce ..it was UGLY! The truth to it is I am not the easiest peach to deal with however Mark was great at it! I b*tched, questioned everything he did, moaned and talked back (sometimes just for fun) but he always told me how it was. I was in a pickle! I had a DV charge that he had to protect me from while still being on the stand while not pleading the fifth. I took the stand and felt ripped apart by my ex husbands lawyer and I watched Mark almost just kindly talk to my ex and not seem to make any of the points I wanted - you know, since I had to want to be vengeful, I m divorcing - be angry for me damnit! Being emotional, unable to go home and very angry Mark always managed to get a smile and even a laugh from me through the process. He never promised me a thing which is probably the right thing to do when you know your client is willing to punch someone in the face however he not only got me home and way more than half of my marital assets while leaving my ex husband living off top ramen on a buddies couch .. I don t think any other lawyer could have done things so smoothly. Mark has a great demeanor and staff! Kelly (his paralegal) held my hand through the process of our divorce decree. She was so understanding to all the changes as we work through the constant emotional ups and downs of nailing out the disagreements. This firm is just made up of such caring individuals. I would undoubtedly hire Mark again (however I hope I never need to).

Got handed off by Mark to an attorney I think I spoke to directly once on a call for minimal time. No relationship built - just constant charges for any task they could list. Cost wound up being almost twice as much as intended/wanted. Not saying stay away - they performed and gave me what I paid for. This business is nothing short of complete trash! I said business cause I m not even sure if they study law at this point. I ve received about two or three documents pertaining to my custody case and have paid over 7k for this case. The last thing that s was sent to me from desiree was an email saying I am on administrative hold because of another trust request of 3500 that I have yet to pay because I have to find new representatives. With all that being paid so far I still have not seen nor heard from my daughter since my baby s mother had been served. They told me I d have temporary rights while this case is proceeding and I haven t heard anything. Not even a phone call stating what s next. I ve sent multiple messages about this case to the attorneys office and in response they send a new bill or simple tell me how I have to pay to call in just to discuss what they are doing! It s sick and I wouldn t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Till this day all I have gotten are bills and a couple documents where I guess the offices did some work pertaining to my case. Still have yet to get any further than where I was with my daughter before hiring this legal counsel. Which, BTW, from day one pushed me off to some junior attorney that was very difficult to communicate with. Had to fire them and find a real attorney. I would not recommend this firm. The original attorney I had took an indefinite leave of absence shortly before I had a court date. (This was after a disastrous first hearing) I only found out when I reached out to confirm details. I was also billed for that communication. Which became a problem. I wasn t given updates about anything, I was only sent requests for trust deposits. When I asked what was happening, I would be billed. Mistakes were frequently made on documents, which I would have to point out, get billed for the communications and the corrections. When everything was finally over, my attorney thought she was being clever after and said, A whole years of work to get him to sign the original document. I told her it also cost me $35k and it wasn t what we originally wanted. She also confirmed in an email that I didn t need to anything further. But I found out that she never filed the final orders. I had to do it myself. I requested a copy of my completed file with notes detailing what I had been billed. I never received it.

I would NOT recommend this firm at all. I needed an attorney to navigate some basic custody modifications. Within the span of 6 months, I had 2 different attorneys that took my case and then left with no notification. In both instances, I did not find out until I started emailing, texting, and calling the firm wondering why all communication had abruptly stopped. After the 2nd attorney quit the firm, the firm wanted another full retainer before they would assign me a new attorney. Insane! I know legal counsel and legal fees can get pricy. Considering, however, the miniscule amount that was actually done for my case and the horrible way they handled changing attorneys, I would stay far away from Mark Childress Firm!!

I went to this firm in a time of need. The firm has been responsive, compassionate, and eager to see my case move forward as planned. My initial consultation was with Desiree Hartwigsen. She was informative in regards to case strategy and firm practices and procedures. I felt heard and I felt confident that her and her team would advocate for me. We discussed my goals and she prepared an effective and realistic approach on how we would reach those goals. I was made aware of the billing practices and knew exactly what to expect when I signed up as a client. Further, my fee agreement put those terms in writing. I receive bi monthly invoices that outline the work conducted on my case and where the funds I paid are allocated. Since then I have been assigned Megan Weiershausen as my lead attorney. She has been invaluable as a teammate during this time. She is responsive and knowledgeable and has been able to provide me the peace of mind that I need during times of panic. She is honest and realistic which is an approach I appreciate. I get substantive updates from her without having to request them and know if they do not have an update for me they will not unnecessarily send me information for billable time. If I call or email Megan I get a response typically within 24 business hours. If I have an urgent inquiry Desiree or Megan have made sure to prioritize that. The law firm is a complete joke I was bounced around from different attorneys 2 days before my zoom call I find out that my lawyer was in the hospital and that a different lawyer would be on my cast I never hear from this lawyer I had to tell the paralegal that I had a zoom call and she asked me what how do you know you have a zoom call I said because Ive had it since before I hired yall and it was she had to call the day before the zoom call and get it canceled and reset which I did not hear from her again for a month then when my attorney came back to work a phone call was scheduled I discussed my concerns with things not being very organized she apologized and said it seems like my case has fallen threw the cracks after that I received outrageous bill with email stating that they were $50 phone calls $350 all these charges that I didnt know about I pondec 1 my attorney called me to discuss my case I asked of another zoom call hadaid this attorney almost five grand at the beginning of December my attorney called me to discuss my case I asked her if she knew if another zoom call court date had been sent she told me know that she would look into it and get back to me the next time I heard from her was that afternoon December 9th and she asked me why did I not show up to my zoom call I told her I didnt know anything about a zoom call she was like oh well its fine I said it for district Court anyways I am out of state and they attorneys office knew this and she act like surprised when I told her that I wasnt in Texas they dont even know anything about their clients they dont keep anything organized your straight and it cost me a court date and then two days ago I emailed her and asked her if she knew when the court date was going to be later that evening and said that she did not know that she would look into it and let me know then the next day I received a email from the attorneys office dropping me as their client in a week prior to this I just paid them almost two grand this attorneys office will take your money and not do their job do not use them and obviously Im not the first person theyve done this to there are several reviews on here of them doing similar things I will be contacting the Texas bar association of also had emails back and forth today from the office talking about making threats to them to the bar association will not get me what I want and the reason for dropping me was lack of communication Im the one that always communicated they did not but they wrote it down in there itemized list and charge me for it even though they didnt do what they said

I had Rick Mitchell... Hired him for 2 separate cases for modifications. I really did like him up until he merged with Mark Childress. Does a good job when it comes to going to trial but then when it comes to finalizing the final court order and becomes neglected or a conflict of interest after having months before they merged with mark Childress. where you pay all this money just to get it done yourself. It s been almost 11 months and still no finalization and the first case because he waited too long and then was told to pay the full balance just to be told he could no longer do it. Communication is not there unless they want more and more money. You pay the balance and then you ask about finalization and then something magically appears that you have to pay more and get told you have to pay it for them to continue working on it and when you do, nothing gets done. Just another bill again. It s frustrating to hire someone just to pay a large amount for a signature to finalize and then to have to pay another for something he couldn t finish due to neglect. I hate to report to a bars association but it seems it needs to be done. Reading the reviews, also seems they can t take responsibility for anything either. Also, my name is Jessica Mahieu. Update at bottom** Elizabeth Barr was my husbands attorney. Prior to our temporary hearing we were told this hearing would not require any of our evidence or witnesses. The day of court we showed up over an hour early and was never told where to meet her. After searching for nearly the full hour we found her and was informed of evidence and witnesses the opposing party had. So all of our evidence and witnesses were pretty much disregarded and we looked unprepared. In the end we received the standard orders for outside of 100miles. However, if we had gotten to show our evidence and bring out witnesses the outcome could have been very different. We paid the retainer and the court costs before court but was told we were being dropped but there was no reason given. I m not sure if Elizabeth is still working for the firm but in seemed as if she took the easy way out so it wouldn t be a loss on her record. She definitely didn t fight for my husband, nor did she seem like she was even interested in what we wanted. In one phone conversation we were told to not poke the bear referring to the opposing counsel in fighting for primary custody. We should have took this as a red flag but we had heard good things from the firm. That part is on us. UPDATE** My husband will be reaching out today. The name it would be under would not be Lux as that is my maiden name. The last name it would be under is callendar. I definitely have the right office as I am looking at the previous temporary orders. But we would love to get in contact and further explain the situation. We look forward to speaking with someone.

We hired them for 2 child custody cases. I didn t talk to anyone for almost a week about the cases. I sent them everything I had through a app they have you download, so you can keep in contact and look at updates about your case. No matter how many messages I sent on that, or emailed the attorney no one would get back to me. It s so hard to try and contact them, if you call the office number the lady that picks up won t even try to talk to you she just send you straight to a voice recording. If they don t answer you leave a massage and hope they get back to you. We found a different attorney to go with told them we wouldn t be needing their services anymore and ask how we go about the refund process I was told that they would send a withdrawal to the court and they would send me a paper via mail or email that I would need to sign, and they would get me a itemized receipt and see how I wanted the refund. We paid 7,500 as the retainer for the child custody cases, that s quite a bit of money. Finally got the email with the receipt to show that we are getting back 2,554.50 when it was impossible to get in touch with them and the only thing done was continuance.Seems like they will try to suck every penny they can in a just a few weeks they have used over 4,000. We sent them everything we had and they got some papers from the court that they needed. We will be contacting the state bar.

We actually were using Mitchell when he decided to merge with this company. So the review is mainly about Mitchell and how he has handled the case. We have paid over $5000 to this man, to not have anything completed. All court dates and mediations were either never relayed to us, or they were cancelled we have paid a substantial amount of money to this lawyer to get nothing out of it. When trying to withdrawal from his services we get hit with another couple of thousand dollar bills for reasons that are not fully explained. When trying to reach anyone in this facility, it takes more than 24/48 hours for a reply. This law office honestly cannot be trusted and I dont know who would appreciate a lawyer that wants to take all your money with no results seen. This law office along with Mitchell himself has now been reported to the bar due to the inefficiency of them and their staff and multiple other reasons. Look for a different lawyer, don t choose this place. And it s obvious this review isn t because we are unhappy with a ruling made, as we haven t even been able to make it to a court hearing. Very disappointed in this group, all its lawyers and faculty. I would not post something regarding a LAWYER if it were to be false in any way or matter. If the things mentioned in my review, are not true to the offices policies and procedures, maybe you should take a look further into this case to see that this is a TRUE STATEMENT---which is why we have once again, reported Mitchell.

Please read this review if you are thinking of wanting a lawyer. This is my honest review and take this review into consideration. I m not for one to leave a review, however this law firm will not disappoint. Not too long ago I was able to reach mediation after months of hard work and dedication and I was able to reach an agreement with my co-parent. If it wasn t for this firm, I honestly cannot tell you what the outcome would be. This law firm is very attentive with your needs and are ready to assist in however they can possible. The staff are very involved, professional, knowledgeable and honest about what to expect with your case and ready to assist in however way possible. If you are worried about money, the firm is flexible and are willing to work with you as long as you advise ahead of time, make your payments on time and on the day you said you would make the payment. I would like to give a shout to to Ms. Konnor Lee. I didnt have her as a lawyer for too long (honestly she came into the case at the day of mediation). She didn t know much about me or the case as there was a lawyer change last minute due to my previous lawyer leaving the firm and right near the end of the case. Ms. Lee knowing this still took my case and represented me anyways. Wow! I am so impressed with this firm and their team. I had for the second time taken my ex husband to court in an attempt to terminate his rights to our children. My attorney at that time was a disaster and made my situation worse. I nonsuited that case and dropped him as my attorney but he had left me a mess to deal with in the court system. My lawyer Marissa Mazingo has been fighting a good fight for me . All kinds of crazy accusations were made that made me lose rights temporary . Marissa was able to really grill my daughters mom on the bench and break her down to where a lot of truths canes out now I have partial unsupervised visits and hopefully in trial that will be done away with too child support 600 for one kid is rediculously high but I believe Marissa will continue to fight for me to get it down to something more fair . She is awesome in court and does not sweat the other side at all she just makes her plays and shoots straight thanks for what you ve done so far my only complaint I would say is that I m 10k in and haven t even got to trial yet but the firm is working with me on that I will let you guys know how it turns out .

One star is still to many stars. Terrible law firm, they charge you almost $100 for emails they dont communicate with you. One of my zoom court hearings the judge had me and the other parent log off, after that I didnt hear from my lawyer until they wanted to charge me again so I was in the dark about what was going on until I could pay my trust. I had to keep reminding my lawyer about my case and the situation with the other parent and had to keep reminding her the fact that the child in the custody case was not old enough to enroll in school. Bottom line they will waste your time and find a way to charge you as much as they can. I SPECIFICALLY told the secretary I DID NOT want the lawyer or Desiree to call me back if they were going to charge me AND THEY STILL DID!!!! $5000 SPENT AND no where on this case. DO NOT RECOMEND!!

Melissa has been my absolute saving grace thru my difficult divorce and custody battle. Desiree Hartwigsen lies during consultations and will call you from her direct line and state that she has NO record of the recording because she called from her direct line. I contacted several law firms in the Tarrant County area inquiring as to whether there was an attorney licensed to practice in Michigan. Desiree was the only attorney that stated yes. I paid her $3,000 on 06/15 and sent Sarah Robbins my notice of a court hearing scheduled for 07/19 @ 9am via Zoom call in Michigan. The notice of hearing was sent to Sarah Robbins on 06/23 and Sarah sent me an email on 06/24 acknowledging my court hearing. I also sent Sarah follow-up emails and information pertaining to my case. Sarah contacted me back one time and left a voice-mail. I tried to get in contact with Sarah for 2 weeks as she NEVER responded to my emails. Eventually, I had to email Desiree to find out what was going on an again stated that I was trying to reach Sarah to discuss my upcoming court hearing. Desiree sent me an email referencing using the Calendy scheduling option and also stated that she had just check my file and saw that Sarah had sent me correspondence that day. I emailed Desiree back and informed her that NO correspondence or voice-mails had been received. Once I asked for a refund of my retainer, all of a sudden I was able to get an appointment with Sarah on 07/15 and found out that Sarah claimed she had been calling the wrong number even though she had left me a voice-mail at the right number! Also, it was at that time that Sarah stated she could not represent me because she was not licensed to practice in Michigan and that I could just ask the judge to have my case registered in Texas. I was devastated. I went to court on 07/19 with no attorney. The judge reset the hearing to 08/20 and said she was giving me time to get a Michigan attorney! I contacted Desiree and left a voice-mail for Sarah on 07/19. Sarah never returned my call. On 07/20 I email Desiree asking if some mistake had been made that resulted in me not being assigned to an attorney that could practice in Michigan as I specifically asked during the consultation. Desiree immediately started lying stating that she NEVER said she could practice in Michigan and that she would agree to disagree. I asked if the conversation was recorded and she stated some of them were and that she would have to find it. She stated that she could give me a partial refund of my retainer but refused a full refund. She then stated she would charge me for additional communication with her. Desirees deceitful behavior is the epitome of unethical legal practices. There was absolutely no reason for her to do this to me. She blatantly lied to get my retainer, was informed almost a month prior about my Michigan hearing date, exchanged emails with me regarding the hearing prior to the hearing, and then I was informed I would not have a lawyer for the hearing. This law firm didnt even have enough decency to allow me time to retain another attorney for my hearing to represent me. All Desiree wants to do is argue and talk tough nonsense in emails about keeping the retainer money which is a testament to her greed and character. I filed a complaint on her with the state bar and a fraud complaint on this law firm as well. I strongly recommend that you have record any and all conversations with anyone associated with this law firm as it is completely legal in the state of Texas. Prior to giving them any money, ask to look over their legal contract as well. If your instinct tells you their not to be trusted, seek legal representation elsewhere. Update: 10/01/2021...Allegedly, I dont have an understanding of the law, but I understood they were behaving like common crooks AND got ALL my money back!! Every one of my $3000.00. They will try to bully and intimidate you but stand your ground! And Im still waiting to see what the State Bar does about Desiree Hartwigsen! This law firm has exploited too many vulnerable people and its time to hold them accountable!!!

Exactly your stereotype attorney. I only spoke with someone 2x (initial call and at a hearingwhere the individual was not familiar with my case) and it cost me almost $4000. The initial call i did mention i didnt have what was requested (4k) however I could try to borrow the remainder. I did and now a trust request for $1500. more. Since I was not abel to meet the request attorney(s) withdrew (the day before court). I received an email stating not to contact them directly via email or phone calls (I havent even spoken to ANYONE about my case).. Now my childs custody hangs in limbo. Where am I gona get another $4000 for another attorney and how am I gona trust anyone. I feel discriminated and bamboozled. Hire at your own risk. Youve been warned. Wish I was

This company provided me with the worst legal experience of my life. I ve included the review I left on The BBB in the pictures as well as other reviews on The BBB. Recently I had a court hearing to address the company withdrawing randomly in which the lady that represented this company, Konnor Lee, was the most rude and unprofessional individual I have met within what is supposed to be a professional title and career. During the hearing she argues with the judge that she had no need to talk to me and even the judge told her it would be in her best interest due to the company s lack of communication with me. Once put into a virtual breakout room, Konnor was very ugly to me and stated that we had nothing to talk about and that the company needed to be off of this case immediately. At any moment that I attempted to speak she interrupted me, laughed at me, argued with me, and refused to answer any questions I asked only to repeat herself about wanting to be done with me. My actual lawyer that was representing me lacked timely communication and would never answer my calls or communications. I got charged and arm and a leg for every little thing and they even sent a bill for the work they did to withdraw from me as counsel including the hearing. I believe this is the most highway robbery I have ever experienced as well as the worst legal service. Steer clear and find a more professional and put together company that actually cares and has a passion for the work that they do because this company serious lacks any kind of passion, professionalism, and seriously their communication abilities.

Mr. Childress kept $50,000.00 of my money and suggested he could testify against me in my divorce as I paid him over $140,000.00 in two years as my attorney. I am currently still going through a divorce the last 38 months even though I was married for 27 months. I retained Mark Childress almost 2 years ago and recently signed withdrawl of counsel 2 weeks ago from Law Offices of Mark M. Childress. I had a hearing on May 20th but I sent a payment of $50,000.00 on April 26th to Mr. Childress law firm as my company was possibly heading into receivership as my wife wanted it in the hands of the court thinking she could receive more income per month not understanding the particulars of my company. I offered up close to a 3 million dollar settlement which was declined by my wife in order to come to the 2nd day of mediation so as a pressure technique they proposed receivership thinking I might increase my offer or actually I have no idea the thinking to be honest and doest matter. I knew my income was drying up if she was granted the receivership as my company was highly profitable so it created an endless stream of greed with all involved. I wanted to shut down operations but maintain the integrity of the company as I was heading to trial in November for no particular reason. I have given Mr. Childress over $140,000.00 over a two year period and after I let Mr. Childress go he said he would be keeping my $50,000 because 2 or 3 days before my hearing he sent me a docusign type document that I never read that protected him from never giving me back any of those funds. It wasnt until l went to the hearing I learned that $50,000 was considered a payment fee for the month of August in order to protect Mr. Childress self-interest. I wanted Mr. Childress to minus out any work he performed and just give me the remaining funds back which would be in the neighborhood of $50,000.00-45,000.00 of work he never performed. I explained to him that I will be forced to file a grievance against him at the Texas State Bar Assoc. for which I never wanted to do as I just wanted my funds returned for services not performed. I filed the grievance Friday. He later called me on June 16th at approx 9 pm to tell me if I filed the grievance then could testify against me in my divorce as the attorney/client privilege ends. A form of blackmail or hollow threat was being issued to me because I just wanted my funds back. I never complained once about my $140,000.00 attorney bills that I gave Mr. Childress. I never contested the billing once which is incredible as my focus was always on my children and my company. I never even acknowledged the billing and the inflated legal cost I incurred. Desiree Hartwigsen the managing attorney told me via email not to file the grievance without ever asking me my side or the circumstances of the situation. I told Mr. Childress via text this week that I will be filing a suit next week against Mr. Childress as I never contacted him accept via email issued another threat that he would contact the proper authorities as he feels like I harassed him. Everything I am saying 100% true and sad. Mr. Childress during my strategy was show up unprepared, be smug to opposing counsel, have no documents or anything to support our position in court because our position was to just give my wife what she wants. This was easier for Mr. Childress to represent me in this way because it meant less work on his side. I am not perfect but I did not deserve this type of representation. I have always expressed deep concerns as my wife as a unemployed mother for which none of those concerns ever expressed in court or hearings. She sometimes doesnt show up for drop offs. We meet at a police station in order to do the exchanges. I also lost my company that once profitable to a receiver who I believe is senile at times. I even hired an additional law firm just to maybe motivate Mr. Childress as I retained Sizemore Law firm for almost 9 months.

I was told with my $3500 Retainer fee I would have a judgment for some custody of my daughter, I was never told it was going to cost me $6000 after all was said and done. Thats with 1 actual court appearance. They charged me another 2500 even after expressing that I didnt have much extra funds. Just got my last bill of 375 another expense I wasnt told I might have. Now unless I pay the money I dont have, they will put my case on administrative hold. Sounds like extortion to me!

June 16 2021# Update on what I did by myself, I have officially done everything for my case on my own, Im extremely mad and disappointed in Mark Childress Law firm for after I could not justify paying them anymore since NOTHING was ever done, no mediation, no courts straight up FN nothing, all they did was just keep charging me for, emails, calls, when I tried to keep explaining what I think is best all they wanted to do was just go Gung Ho all go full blast with things that didnt even needed to be done, Im talking over 5,000 for I cant even tell you what they did, where that money went to besides emails and calls and oh wait then drafting everything up to be my attorney and since this email they now dropped me and charging me an extra 600 dollars for their time for dropping me or in their case me not giving them another 2,500. People seriously I could not and will not justify paying them anything extra since literally nothing was done, after they dropped me went to several attorneys and they all said the same thing that nothing was done, Marks Law firm has that reputation and last but least they all listened!!!!!!! They all guided me in a direction that I did everything on my own!!! Marks Law Firm all you had to do is communicate, listen to people and think whats best for your FN clients in my case they never wanted to go to mediation or court their whole intention was just to be taken off child support, that was it!! You guys just have a one track mind news flash not everything is black and white, they are gray areas at times, you need to start evaluating each case and think whats best for your clients and finally I keep repeating myself listening and communicating to your clients PERIOD!!! In these times I wish I never went with you guys there are a lot of people who are struggling or having financial problems and I definitely would have saved a lot of money by not going through you guys, hell I even gave you a referral and the same from that person you just took and took. Be careful people when picking from this one, if you have tons of money then no problem but if your an average person like me who definitely is not rich go somewhere else, save your money. Honestly I can see how there is good and bad, I think Mark is good but he also made it seem good along with Sarah, but my experience is the worst experience Ive ever had, almost 4,000 in with nothing done at all, no communication and when you try to communicate well good luck on that because you will just get another 2,500 trust request along with other bills which I do know there are bills to accrue. Didnt fill my trust request because I could not justify it at all when Im not even going through a divorce or child custody, it was supposed to be a simple mediation process but to keep charging 75.00 just to look to see if you filled your trust after Ive already spent 4,000. In the beginning all they had to do was communicate and my case would of been so much better, after all this definitely would never go with this firm ever again, communicating goes a long way but to get there with this firm you will pay an arm and a leg just to talk to them. Plus if you ever have a bill dispute because of Desiree DO NOT EMAIL OR CALL EVEN THOUGH YOUR BILL IS WRONG THEY WILL JUST KEEP BILLING YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT THEIR BILL IS WRONG, I LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY

The only thing this firm knows how to argue well is a google review. Read below and youll see... UPDATE: Mark Childress and his team did a poor job representing me in court. The lawyer assigned to me not only upset the judge with her demeanor but did almost nothing to contest the ruling or get a different judgment on my behalf. I feel like my money was completely wasted as the results were the same as if I didnt hire a lawyer at all. After the judgment, I left my review of their work and was met with aggression from his team. They refused to work my case any further or continue to help me and IN FACT got several emails from Mark Childress arguing with me. He demanded I take down my review before they continued any more work.. Not only did the owner of the firm argue with his client, he charged me for said arguments.... Extremely disappointed in this firm, as they came highly recommended. I would not recommend this firm to anyone that truly needs help. Theyre only in this business for the money..
