We had a serious issue after purchasing our home that was not disclosed to us. I reached out to Eric initially just to see if I had a case. He was encouraging. Later I reached out and Anthony Brown handled the case. He was in touch frequently, professional, listened and knew what we needed. Less than two weeks before Closing on a real estate sale, I was notified that the Buyer was walking and had asked for the return of his earnest money. WHAT!? I was referred to Dankesreiter & Emmet by the attorney at my title company. I called this firm Monday, a Demand Letter went out Tuesday, and on Thursday, the Buyer agreed to Close and even executed a contract amendment to pay my attorney fees! This is my go-to law firm for all legal matters. I ve come to this firm for several years for three completely different and unrelated items. In January 2019, my 8 year relationship ended. As part of a series of underhanded and vindictive events, my son s father decided to steal $15K from my bank account, move to Florida with his family, and moved out of our house in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. In the Spring of 2019, I was randomly reported to CPS for allegedly physically abusing my children and other heinous accusations. At that time, I was clueless that it was my son s father and his cohorts who had conspired to make those accusations which I would later learn was a strategy to gain an upper hand in custody proceedings. Fast forward to Summer 2019, in an attempt to be a good co-parent, I agreed to send our son to visit With his father in Florida for summer vacation. As soon as our son was in my ex s possession, I was served with a custody lawsuit where my son s father was asking for sole custody of our child, the right to have him uprooted from his home and school and relocated from Texas to Florida to live with my ex and his sister (Where my son would have to share a small room with his dad sigh), a hefty amount of child support, and requested that I have only supervised visitations when I have been his primary caretaker (financially, physically, emotionally). To boot, I had a mere 3 weeks before the hearing date to hire a lawyer and prepare. I immediately asked around for family lawyer recommendations and Phillip Herr was at the top of everyone s list. I was sold when I learned that he was a former Associate Judge. Within our first meeting, I knew I was in good hands. Phillip discussed a case strategy and gave me ideas for evidence to gather. I went home that day and immediately gathered and organized the information. From our first meeting to our hearing date (approximately 3 weeks) Phillip communicated frequently and kept me updated on his progress, as well as offered new ideas and strategies. Fast forward to our hearing date, I could tell that Phillip felt comfortable and confident in the Courtroom. When my ex took the stand, Phillip blew me away with the order and the format of the questions he asked. There were many gotcha moments where Phillip made him buckle and exposed his lies. Not to mention how well Phillip organized and presented my evidence to the Judge. The Judge granted everything we asked for and ordered that my son be returned to me. As a mother, the emotions I felt during this process were enough to push anyone over the edge. Instead, I hired Phillip Herr who quickly became a voice of reason and kept me calm and grounded. We often hear stories about lawyers who are sharks or have a tendency to believe the Hollywood depiction that a good lawyer is ruthless and puts on a good performance in the courtroom. In real life, however, a good lawyer is the opposite. A good lawyer is not a gun for hire who caters to his client s emotions. A good lawyer is calm, reasonable, maintains a high level of objectivity and integrity, and refuses to engage in frivolous activities that lead their clients astray financially and otherwise. We had an issue where another corporation has a very similar name as ours and was in the same type business. After reviewing some documents we made an initial appointment with Mr. Herr. Philip Herr was very understanding and listened to our needs. In less then a week, Phillip Herr drafted a cease and desist letter to show how this competitor was in violation of trademark interference. I now have the exclusive right to decide the primary residence of my daughter, and has been living in my care since June of 2019. Many years ago I had a legal matter that needed addressing to close out a divorce. Phillip provided the appropriate legal counsel that was needed to resolve this issue. Recently I had another personal matter that needed to be taken care of and I, again, reached out to Phillip to take help me resolve this issue. We discussed possible strategies on how to best get the problem properly taken care of. Even though the strategy that was decided to pursue was initially more expensive than other strategies it provided the exact resolution I was seeking without having to go to trial or have additional hearings that would have been significantly increased the overall legal fees. I arrived at the Denton County court building for court at 9am. Judge Herr called me the stand after taking many breaks. He tried to rush through my hearing and didn t listen to any of the details about my case. Attorney Wescott was reading the agreement and when it got to visit arrangements they didn t try to listen to me as I was going to tell Judge Herr and attorney Wescott that my daughter cannot be alone with him. They were about to grant standard visitation rights when I interrupted attorney Wescott and told him that my daughter s father can t be alone with children. Both Judge Herr and Attorney Wescott began to be annoyed. Then Judge Herr called for a recess to rework the details of my case. I then waited 3 more HOURS only for Judge Herr to keep checking the clock and as soon as 5:00p.m hit Judge Herr packed up his belongings and left for the day. I sat in shock as I d been freezing in that courtroom for 9HOURS!! I ve been attending court for the last 3 years because my child s father hadn t been served until now and Judge Herr reset my case because he was in a rush and ready to leave. I went 8hrs sitting in a court room with no food and no drinks as Judge Herr had all day. I feel totally disrespected and hurt that I the custodial parent who has been raising my daughter this whole time thought that today I would get word that my daughter s father would finally be forced to take responsibility and Judge Herr pretty much slammed the door in my face. He is very unprofessional and rude. He was inconsiderate of my time. I have health issues and have to have frequent meals. If it was an option he wouldn t get a one star rating.

No matter how amicable you think it might be, going through a divorce is never easy. Phillip Herr and his staff were incredibly supportive and very professional and courteous. Someone was always available to answer my questions and to provide me with information I didnt know to ask for.
