I ordered the chicken fried steak lunch. The steak was thin, dry and the breading was on the hard side. The roll was a sweet roll which I didnt know it would be and dont like those but was soft and cooked good. I tried it. Mac and cheese noodles were on the softer side but was a good little side to have. Now those green beans, best I ever had! People were friendly and service was great! I would go back and try a different thing to eat.

There was only one server and I think one person in the kitchen. The server was running around trying to take care of everyone but that is a big restaurant. When the other lady came in she stood around like she was management and did nothing but take money. Not sure if Ill go back. The food was okay but the toast was cold and the pan cake was doughy.

Yes, there are PLENTY of places to eat in Dallas, however best of LUCK finding great homemade food @ today s prices! Stopped in after a disappointing drive -through attempt a few businesses away. My server Mona was very much part of the great experience here! I wanted breakfast but then flipped menu and coincidentally I came in on a Thursday which happens to mean Turkey Special Day! I seldom write reviews or take pictures of my food or places however since I randomly walked in, so , it wasn t like a regular and received great service. I was fork deep when I remembered how covid shut us down and customer service became a thing of the past in a LOT of places. I asked for a second role knowing I really can t fit in my newly full belly ( still have 1/2 meal ) BUT I m gonna find room! Just GREAT old fashioned Yumminess

Great service & the food was delicious! Definitely perfect diner comfort food. We were starving so we didnt snap any pictures but I had the Texas Skillet and my husband had the S.O.S. Plate. The biscuits were giant and so fluffy inside! Both dishes were huge portions for very reasonable prices. The bathrooms were hot and the place could use se renovation & repairs but otherwise, fantastic!

Love there pancakes, the potatoes-no seasoning the best for me. Always get the Two by four. Eggs are mostly cooked right. Everytime I go the eggs are never cooked to fast where they have a golden ring around them. HAPPY FOR THAT! Bacon/this time ham is always cook well. I already mentioned the pancakes. Recently moved to the area. I prefer to support small businesses when I have the opportunity. Cute little joint. There seemed to only be 1 waitress looking after 8 tables. But the waitress, Mona, was friendly and knowledgeable. I was surprised the meals were so expensive. But there was more food than I could eat. So I took home a goodie bad. I ordered breakfast. Eggs Sunnyside up and hashbrowns crispy. They were perfect. My only complaint was that the gravy was boxed and not from scratch.

Whats in the mood for some breakfast so GPS the nearest Whataburger. When I pulled up I had seen a cute little place next door called Real Texas Cafe so I thought to myself Id give it a chance and Im glad I did because they have some of the best breakfast food youll ever eat. Im not a huge breakfast either and most the time I am but at this place I was anything but! The food, service, and atmosphere was top notch. Our decision to grab breakfast at Real Texas Cafe while picking up family from the airport Sunday morning left us with a mixed impression. In summary, it was just an okay experience. Our breakfast orders spanned a variety of items. The omelet was decent, and the French toast, while not terrible, was a bit undercooked, leaving a lingering taste of egg. We also ordered eggs over easy and poached, but both orders arrived undercooked, as if the grill hadnt quite heated up enough to cook them properly. However, if theres one thing that stood out, it was the biscuits. They were exceptional, so good that Id contemplate returning solely for them. Unfortunately, the gravy accompanying them was disappointingly watery. The fried pork chops lacked flavor, as did the potatoes. In an unconventional breakfast move, I decided to indulge in pie and ordered a slice of coconut cream pie, which we all shared. It had a pronounced coconut flavor, which was a plus, and the texture was thick and nearly creamy. Members of our group described it as good and decent, so its a matter of personal preference. Our server was friendly and attentive until he handed us the bill, after which he didnt return, leaving us to pay with cash to expedite our departure. In the grand scheme of things, Real Texas Cafe was just okay. Whether I would recommend dining here and reaching into your wallet depends on your expectations. For me, I wont be making a return visit, as there are significantly better cafes and diners in the DFW area that offer a more satisfying breakfast experience.

Husband got his food quickly and I got my side of bacon, but it took another 7ish minutes to get my biscuits and gravy. Don t know why because it was room temperature when they finally brought it out. I had to ask for butter and jelly because they don t have it on the tables. Both butter and jelly were refrigerated and cold to the point you could not spread it. The biscuits were odd, almost like a whole grain and over baked and crunchy. Two biscuits with a side bowl of gravy for 8.50 which is fine for delicious homemade biscuits but these briquettes were just plain nasty. Also, three dollars for coffee is a little expensive for me. Diet soda glass was very small had to be refilled four times and they charge 3.5% for using your credit card. Usually 3% is the maximum charged for using a credit card. No wonder there was no wait and hardly a soul in there when we walked in we should ve known.

I have been wanting to try this place but just kept passing on it for some reason. We finally went last week and it was very good down home southern eats the service is great best I have had since covid hit. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. The service, food and atmosphere here is phenomenal. When dining in, there is never a wait to be seated. I ordered online for my neighbor who had just got out the hospital. She told me to go to McDonalds. Driving there, I thought Id pick up something better. I ordered online. By the time I arrived, it was hot and ready! She was so happy to eat something that tasted just like homemade. This is definitely a great place for family dining. They serve breakfast and lunch...not sure about dinner. Real Texas Cafe, thank you for the wonderful service, everytime I come here. My friend and I enjoyed our experience here. Before I get started, just know that this isnt the place to go if you are in a hurry. Service is slow. Dont know if they were understaffed or what, but we were there for over 2.5 hours. The staff was friendly but not attentive. We had to flag staff down when they should have checked on us. Food/service here is amazing!! But, every place has an off day. I met a new customer who was visiting for the first time she asked if Ive been here before, and she asked about the food/service ? We had a large group getting together so it was important to make a reservation. Most breakfast places dont take reservations but, after doing some research, I found that Real Texas Cafe does. I have been a customer at The Real Texas Cafe since they opened three years ago. The SOS is my favorite. Veterans may recall having SOS in the chow halls and what the SOS means or younger people may want to call a SOS after you eat the entire meal for medical assistance for overeating. The daily specials are good and the service from Mona and Maria is always excellent. Try the restaurant and I m sure you won t be disappointed if you like a country type dining.

The cost of eating out for a family of four has gone up way more than I imagined, but service was great, dj really took care of us and made sure that we didnt need or want for anything, and the food was worth every penny. Portion sizes were huge versus what Id consider a normal Portion, but they were priced accordingly. Over all I would love to be back again. Hi my coworker and I had lunch here today and it was my first time. The waitress was pleasant and well knowledgeable. The atmosphere was nice and inviting. Great little spot A meal here is going to set you back about $20. The main entree comes with two sides bread and a salad. You can either have a dinner roll. You also have the option of ordering breakfast. On this outing I got chicken fried chicken with spinach, corn and cornbread. It wasnt the best Ive ever had & it did the trick, no complaints. My server was great, her name was Jessica and she did a fantastic job! There were about 8 customers between two people which they could have used a little more help as the place was getting busier when I left. Id say they were a little understaffed. I didnt have to wait too long for my food, it came out pretty quick and was hot, just the way it should be. Its a neat little cafe with some Texas style and they didnt go overboard decorating, the place is very simple. The interior design looks newly updated and still pretty fresh. One part of the decor not to overlook is the refrigerator for their pies if you want one to go.

The only good thing about this place was the service, otherwise... We came in for breakfast on a weekend. The place was pretty empty, that tells you a lot on a weekend, right? All the food we ordered was tasteless. We got migas, but it was a afterthought, because they just tossed some crispy tortilla chips, and the worst thing was the chopped tomatoes, they were stale, dull, over-refrigerated. I got the typical grandslam, the sausage was overcooked and pancakes were flavorless. Even the syrup was flavorless. Not good at all. Just kudos to the staff that go over their way to be friendly and engaging.

Very racist . Me and my wife wanted to try this place one day and we walked in to people just staring and looking like we aren t in 2023. People need to wake up we are not in those times no more . We live in a country that is very diverse. It was so awkward and we felt so uncomfortable that we just walked out .

Dinner entree price has increased at least $3 since they opened, they eliminated the salad side and their veggie sides arent as good as they were. I understand the price increase, but when prices go and product quality declines, Im done.

My sister and I dined in at this cafe for the first time on April 1, 2023, when we were in town for the Taylor Swift concert. The food was incredible! I had a grilled chicken sandwich with seasoned fries, and my sister had the chicken fried chicken with freshly baked cornbread. We are both from OK/TX area and know the taste of homemade, good southern food - and these meals were perfect! The servers were also very sweet and friendly. We will definitely visit again!

Great food. Comfortable seating and environment. There was a short wait....under 10 minutes. There were empty tables but they didnt seat more than they could offer good service. The food was hot, fresh and came out quick. I spoke briefly with a large group that was waiting and they were repeat customers so thats a good sign. Its a great little place with good food.

Fabulous food. Nice people. Mens room smells a bit. But real Texas men dont care about that. Get the real mashed potatoes. Cat fish is really good. Closes Sunday at 2:30. Parking: We got a spot next to the door.

We came here on a Sunday at 11:00 and it was pretty empty. Although there were plenty of tables available we hat to wait for more than 5 minutes a to get seated despite making eye contact with multiple employees. Once we were seated we only saw our waitress a couple of times. The food took about 30 minutes to come out. The meal was decent but not great.

Slow service, had to keep asking for what we needed, rolls, napkins, the check. Lotsa of empty tables... I wanted chips with my sandwich but they were out so I got fries that were soft and soggy. Very dirty floors and we had to ask to get our table cleaned after we were seated. The waitress was nice.

Not bad chicken fried steak.....but not great. Sides were small and the loaded mashed potatoes were regular mashed with bacon bits and shredded cheese on top. The ladies were very nice and it was very quickly served. I may try again but try a different dish.

There was a kind of corn covered in a very good fried layer, it was a contour, I didnt like the meat, I left it to the cats at home But something to highlight is the super attention I received, the drink was not half full when they filled it for us and a pleasant conversation and that creates a good atmosphere

Should be a zero star. Food was good but the service was horrible. We got our food and never saw the waitress again. After having empty glasses at our table in plain site and finished our meal. Then waited and waited for someone to come over so we could get the ticket and some refills to go. My husband even tried raising his hand while waitresses were at other tables and didn t come over. I finally had to wave my hand and call out across the whole restaurant which got the attention of almost everyone in there. She came over and we told her what we needed. She then disappeared again and didn t come back out. She sent another waitress out who argued with my husband saying she had been at our table twice. When he disagreed with her she argued more. Horrible service. Never going back.

I ve lived in Texas my whole life, and I ve always said the holes in the walls are awesome and the best, but this Texas Cafe is real Texas y all, Family owned and such wonderful people. Their food is home made style and so full of flavor, their atmosphere is just so welcoming! I recommend this place if your looking for homemade style food and the servings are bigger than Big Tex . I wish I had read the reviews before I went. We waiting 10 minutes before they considered seating us. Then we were completely ignored until I stopped someone and asked if we should just leave. When our order came it was so salty it was horrible. The management is mean and aggressive. If you read the responses to reviews you can see how horrible they are! Give this place a miss
