WARNING Dripping Springs. Dorothy Butler is a tax lawyer in town. I gave E her my 2023 tax documents on March 15th. Today she still had not even touched my return so I FIRED HER. She gave my wife and I excuse after excuse for months. She filed and extension and then did nothing for months. She even suggested I was a liar when I told her how long she had my documents. I have all communications documented. This morning I blew up her phone demanding my documents be returned. I told her I would get my story out about her online so she sent the Hays County Sheriff to my house. She lied to the police and said I threatened her. The only thing I threatened her with was a truthful review and honesty on Facebook and Yelp. Since I have posted my personal experience with Dorothy on my Facebook page friends and colleagues have come out of the woodwork to express similar horrible experiences. She has had multiple warnings from the Texas Bar Association and is currently on probation with them. She is completely unprofessional, rude, acerbic and threatening. I had a consultation with the paralegal Mr. Michael. He was very rude and unprofessional. He talks like he was a professor and I was begging from him. obviously, he is controlling the female attorney that I havent met. But she seems to be very weak unable to control her paralegal who is dominent. I highly recommend him to be fired immediately.

You would think with refferal like the State Barr i could get decent Customer service??.. I Called 4 times trying to get a hold of someome so we coould pay the 5k retainer as we dicussed with no luck after giving up i finally get a text Message saying choose an Appointment with 3 options i chose 2:30 after calling to confirm at 230 i was told wait for a call so i did and never recived a call so naturall i called back the assiatant said she called 3 times amd now in order to talk im put back another 3-4 weeks they alresdy made this longer than needed an extra 6 weeks just waiying on a return call No Customer service at this frim i see espiacally by the reviews.

Dorothy Butler was amazing! She did some work for my family and I several years ago when I was undergoing some medical procedures and needed to get legal/financial affairs in order. Her efforts kept me from being evicted (literally) and saved my credit when I was in the hospital for an extended period of time, and knowing my finances were squared away was one less thing I didn t have to worry about during my recovery. Attorney Sandra Doyle was BRILLIANT!!! Gosh, I was in Harris County, in desperate need of a Texas attorney that could go into other Texas counties. Hired Dorothy Butler Law firm to handle our property tax protest in 2022. After quickly describing their services and requesting upfront payment, communication came to a screeching halt. Over several months emails were not replied to, voice mails not returned, and when they were returned, it was with an unprofessional attitude indicating we were a nuisance to them as they had other clients to attend to. Blame on the lag for responses was always on the county. After several months we finally had a called with one of their attorneys who indicated the county was reviewing all documentation and we should accept whatever assessment was provided. The ultimate outcome was favorable to us, however the only difference between us and neighbors who protested directly with the county, was they didnt have the stress of dealing with this law firm.

We hired the Dorothy Butler Law Firm, along with our Headwater community neighbors, to assist in protesting our property taxes. Unfortunately, the firm failed to communicate with us throughout the process and did not attend the scheduled appeal hearing, resulting in our property being assessed at $130,000 more than what we paid for it only 15 days prior to the assessment. This negligence on their part is unacceptable. The letter from HCAD below confirms that the appeal was dismissed due to the lack of evidence presented by the firm, which is a clear indication of their failure to fulfill their responsibilities. Dear DOROTHY BUTLER LAW FIRM, Our records show that you filed a Notice of Protest on the above referenced property for 2022 and were scheduled for an Appraisal Review Board hearing on 06/23/2022. The law requires a property owner, or his designated representative, to present evidence in person or by affidavit to support the protest, for the board to make a determination of protest. Expectations set for attorney response on one day, but nothing came and further no response to emails and calls for several days until using the text message number in the voicemail of firm. Where the text responses were rude and acting as if I was a major inconvenience from the owner . Completely understand that the attorney I planned to work with was on vacation and understand that due to weather was delayed not knowing when could return. What was not acceptable is that there were others who were in the office that did not communicate the reason that work did not commence and left things unanswered for days.

I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE! One star is too high of a rating. this place is a joke. My insurance company recommended me to contact them to take care of a citation I had received. So I did. After calling/emailing, my 1st point of contact with them was through text message, and after my wife and I read it we both agreed whoever was on the other side of the phone was rude and not helpful, and did not care to have my business. I made an appointment anyway. Which they did not stick to..... received no phone call from them as promised. So I called and asked what was going on and their response was no one has contacted you yet?? to which of course I said no and asked what my next step was. And they told me to stand by and someone would still call me. I then called the court house to get an extension for 2 weeks. I had to text the random number again, to setup another appointment, and yet again had to reschedule. Finally was able to get someone on the phone, which could not answer my question, was told she was going to call me back, days went by no phone call, so I texted again, emailed twice, too finally get a response back saying someone would check in to it, now at that point we were 4 days past my extension! So finally get my last email from them which is stating, they had done nothing, and want $1000 retainer. If they would have told me that over the phone weeks ago I could have had time to either pay the retainer or find another attorney! They have to be the absolute worst law firm I have ever had to deal with. they put me a bind, with very little contact, they do not care about there customers!!! If any one is reading this please take your business elsewhere.

I would have been lost in the attempt without her. She not only answered every question I asked, even if I considered it a possibly dumb question, and she did a great job asking me all the right questions to get a complere picture of my debts, and all the other information needed to file a complete bankruptcy, which has resulted in my debts being discharged. I am totally impressed with her knowledge and her ability to represent me, and for certain I would recommend her to anone needing help as I did. I have really not needed or used a lot of legal help in the past so when my problems became unsurmountable I was at a complete loss who to seeks help from. My credit was in shambles! I couldnt catch my breath after i hit some unfortunate circumstances. Contacted them about an urgent matter regarding custody of my children. Was told they would draw up the paperwork and send it to me to sign. Days later nothing. Contacted them again and was told it was being done and would be sent to me. Days later still nothing. Over two weeks later still no paperwork and no contact to let me know what the issue was. They tell you what you want to hear but it seems like your just another client to them and your not the priority. Just another law firm who just wants money. Thanks for nothing.

I would not recommend this law firm. They are apparently in the habit of entertaining nonsense complaints from clients completely wasting the time of law abiding citizens. Did not even bother to read the legal document they were contending. I would not recommend a law firm that leverages intimidation tactics to scare folks into compliance. If it in fact was a valid claim as they state, their client wouldnt have given up after a stern talking to, and would have actually pursued their original demand.

I m just shocked by the lack of attention to detail and customer service! This firm does not even deserve the one star! They re completely disorganized. Did you even know who I was the night before my case they had no idea about any information on me. At 648 Texas time I certainly hear from my court dates the next day. !?!.... All I got was a bunch of questions on who I was and what my case is all about!!??!!.. I talked to Dorothy herself who acted completely entitled!! I ll she did was ask me questions about myself and my case. she had no clue on who I was or anything about my case. I was starting to give her everything on the case all over again including our emails and communication and receipt for retainer. Finally I just said what am I working for you now, am I here to organize your law firm? ..... All this at 6:38 in the evening before the case at nine in the morning.... Wow!!!! Extremely entitled! Horrible customer service! Total lack of attention to detail ( disorganized !). I m in Phoenix and now I have to figure out how I m going to get to a little town in the middle of nowhere in Texas..... That s my experience, that is where I am..... For you who see this it will not be up for long she will get rid of it she has that ability..
