The food is good. Here lately the shrimp has been over cooked, which makes them hard to peel. Im not sure if they are pre-cooking trying to be the rush, and the shrimp are sitting in steamed water. Either way, please fix because I do like this place.

Went here today because I thought it was where my son had brought me a plate from when he visited a few weeks ago. It wasnt!!! I ordered a $32 combo with shrimp crab corn sausage a day egg . The crab hot, and the seafood was old. . .I know this because fresh seafood slides out of the shell. And corn was old too!!! This seafood was stuck to the shell....they just rewarded it!!! Wont ever be going back. The place I shouldve gone to was King Krab behind jack-in- the-box on Hampton Rd.

Really delicious food, delicious crab legs that my boyfriend tried (it was his first time eating crab and he loved it!) and I had the crab cakes and coconut shrimp they were so flavorful and the spicy dipping sauce we got was also super flavorful and delicious! The morning after eating it my daughter was sick the entire day vomiting from seafood poisoning. Theyre serving old expired rotting food. The crab legs were soggy, and mushy textured ( EXTREMELY OVERCOOKED)The potatoes were soggy and everything tasted old. The smell was disgusting. We were only able to consume a very tiny amount of the food because it was so bad! My daughter became ill after swallowing a few bites only! My parents initially spent $140+ on their food and invited me and my daughter to enjoy it with them. When I arrived at their home they immediately began to apologize to me as the food was so terrible none of them could eat it! My daughter is the last one who tried it! It was terrible! My daughter insisted on trying some because she loves seafood and couldnt believe that it could be as bad as her grandparents were warning her. Immediately, I checked the reviews and most of them are poor. I had to teach my parents how to thoroughly read reviews for new places that theyre experimenting with. They could have saved themselves $140 and avoided their granddaughter from getting ill. Remember the most important fact there are no refunds! BEWARE!!!

My grandparents ordered from here and it was terrible. The food was soggy tasted like it was made hours ahead of time and it was just sitting in greasy nasty season juice all day, and it was Luke warm It wasn t even hot when they received the food and the no refund policy is a joke, because they know how bad that food is from their cooks and servants not preparing the food correctly. The crab legs were so unfresh and soggy it made me feel sick after consuming it! I recommend not going here because the service is terrible and the food It s also a disaster put together I ve never tried seafood in this area before, but this would be a negative no stars !!

King crab legs were not fresh. Corn was soggy and tasted like plastic. Potatoes and sausage soggy. Not seasoned well and powdery. The no refund policy is a deceptive practice to cover their shoddy food. My 19 year old granddaughter came over to eat because she loves seafood. She didnt eat much because she didnt like it. I spent over $144 . I do not recommend this establishment at 303 N. Hampton Rd., Desoto,TX.

Horrible horrible experience! Horrible customer service! Save your money and go somewhere else! Boiled seafood bags are extremely salty and do not taste good compared to all the other seafood restaurants in the area. I had a pound of shrimp and a pound of crawfish. Couldn t even eat them because of the saltiness. Sauce is also really thick and powdered/grainy as if they over seasoned it. Restaurant is always empty yet they seem to not care about customer service. Fried food is the opposite not seasoned and has no flavor. I tried fried catfish, fried oysters, crab cakes (which were not real crab), and shrimp. As well as gumbo with steamed rice. It was all not memorable and wouldn t try them ever again. Lastly, I tried wings (Cajun) and they were so salty they were inedible. Spoke to management and he told me there is nothing he can do. What type of mess is that?! After I spent so much money in their establishment, there is nothing they can do about an unsatisfied customer? WOW! Never returning again! AGAIN ..Save your money and go somewhere else!!!!!!!

I am very happy with this place. My server Alex was awesome. He was very attentive and helpful with everything and put a smile on my face. I ordered the #6 combo and it was delicious. I am not a big fan of sausage, but the sliced sausage with my crab legs and potatoes were on point. The garlic butter sauce in the boil bag was delicious. I didnt mind one bit that it was drippin down my chin...when it is time to eat, it is time to eat...lol Ohhh..and I asked if I could get the shrimp de-veined and they were more than happy to do so. The shrimp in the bag wasnt over cooked like at some other places. I am definitely a happy camper at this spot. Its great to go to a restaurant and get good food and good service to boot. Southern crab is phony they are selling sway fish instead of catfish, telling people its catfish. The seafood gumbo is horrible the shrimp is not defined and theres lil pieces of unknown type of saugage like stuff in there. its not made right at all. We had the pleasure of visiting Southern Crab with friends and family and had a pleasant experience. Upon entering the facility and we did not notice any slip or trip hazards. The service by the employee working the counter was acceptable. When it comes to the food, it was very bland in taste and not as good as other crab legs. It may have been an off day so and since the service was not bad, I believe friends and family may try it again. The meals cost $30 per person. Our Purpose Is Your Blessing

I am very disappointed. Just left this establishment spent over $100 and couldnt get one pair of gloves. Needless to say I will not be returning, these are the type of places we need to get out of our communities. If I wasnt craving crab legs I would have walked out. But everybody know how it is when you want some crab legs you just cant say no. Support black own businesses, I tried to but my guy up the street had sold out. After I picked up my lunch today I called to let them know my shrimp are too soft a mushy/ over cooked stuck to the shell. They said once you touch the food and leave the restaurant it s nothing they can do. DO NOT EAT HERE! Food is not fresh! The crawfish are very small and overcooked. (I have no word for the corn) The crawfish was also a lot of female with eggs still inside. The seafood gumbo is basically soup with only 3 jumbo shrimp floating on top that were also super tough. It had no chicken and the sausage was in bits instead of regular round cuts. 16 ounces of gravy oil and vegetables. When I initially called in my order for pick up the young lady kept getting my order wrong and got mad when I corrected her and she just hands someone else the phone who was also rude and kept getting it wrong before finally saying is that all ma am? I live in the Desoto and Ive gone to Southern Crab several times. Most of the time the fish look good, but is over fried.Ive ordered extra Corn on the cob but it tasted over cook, and old. I went the second time, this time I shared with the cashier (Naidelyn) about the corn (since this is apart of my meal I pay extra for) hoping this time it would be better. It was again old & overcooked. When I return the corn she said, it has been bite on.How do you taste your food without bitting?It might be a small matter but should have been handed wih care & professional. Don t do it! I m disabled and I sent my home health care worker to get us something for lunch. She saw this place and ordered shrimp and fish combo for us. She brought it back, we opened the containers and no shrimp! Two skinny fish fillets, undercooked (gross) and some of the greasiest okra (I could literally squeeze the grease out). Called them and told them about the shrimp. The girl (Naidelyn) was extremely rude. Said we would have to bring the food back in so she could check the containers (is that even legal?). When we got there only this female and one cook were there. Even after the cook admitted he forgot the shrimp she wanted to take the containers to the back to go through them! What?!! I don t think so! We had to pick through our containers to show her there was no shrimp. We asked to speak to a manager and also get corporates number and she stated you can talk to me! . When we got the food back and complained that it was now cold she said well, your shrimp is hot . If you re wondering why we didn t walk out and leave it there it s because each of our orders cost $16.99 apiece without drinks and when we substituted French fries for okra they charged an extra dollar which they didn t tell us about until we had already paid. I heard about the BEST seafood restaurant in DFW area and drove 40 miles to come try. It was well worth it. Ordered the shrimp and crab legs and Lobster tails were very good size. (Combo with all seasonings mild flavor Lobster, Shrimp, Crab, Corn, Potatoes, Sausage...). The food was great!!! and the service was great too. I will definitely return with my friends.

Food seemed to be really good until I came across 10 crawfish with baby eggs inside of the body and the tail filled. I simply asked for a refund and the man was very rude about it and stated ok and we can not do anything about it and there s no refund going to be given . In which, I believe is not fair at all or any kind of good customer service I do not recommend.

This is about my 4th time going to Southern Crab. The food is generally very good. I have not had a wow moment but I have not been diasppointed either. It is a small casual establishment but cute inside. The staff is polite and the food wait is comfortable.

I wasnt going to post anything but i called and received horrible customer service from the owner so lets run it ! Received my food 10 min after ordering ok they are efficient...seems promising. Get to the hotel 5 min later . Open the bag smells sour ...maybe its just me ...open my sons and it smells the same..touch the shrimp and they are Mushy af ... cant shake that sour smell .Reluctantly i try the sausage..then a shrimp ...potato all horrible .... Im done ...Call the restaurant 3 times no answer ...finally the 4th call goes through. I advised i ordered 3 shrimp combos and they smelled sour and the shrimp were extremely mushy . I never asked for a refund just freash food . Owner was offended that i told him his food was horrible. He stated that the food was made To order and there is nothing he can do . Well i have been eating seafood since i was 3 and i know this WAS NOT FREASH he advised me he is te Owner and he is not going to do anything about it ..... DO NOT EAT HERE !!! HE CLEARLY HAS NO IDEA WHAT FREASH FOOD IS AND HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE . -10/10 .

Terrible experience today!!!! 1st off the seasoning was on point but the crawfish was old because the meat was sour. I tried to tell the owner about the meat but he wasnt trying to hear me. Mind u I never swallowed 1 crawfish, tasted bout 3 and spit them right back out, and he told his wife to go stand by the door and told me he wasnt making me another batch and I still had to pay for everything. So me and my girl didnt want no problems so I paid they $25 tab. NEVER EVER GOING BACK!!!!

My husband and I came to Southern Crab Desoto this evening. We ordered a fried fish and shrimp combo and a pound of boiled shrimp. When I went to bit into my fish, it had a spoiled taste. I immediately spit it into a napkin and smelled the other piece which I placed on a napkin to tell the waitress. It smelled awful! I told the waitress who told the cooks. Their response was that it couldn t be spoiled because they just got the shipment in yesterday. I asked the young lady to smell it and she took it to the kitchen. The owner sent her back with the fish to tell me that that s how fish smells. I am from a city who is known for seafood. That is not how fish smells. The worst thing about this experience is the horrible customer service from the owners and the cooks. They didn t have the common decency to try to correct the problem. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE!!!

We went into southern crab in fish in Desoto TX. I ordered a 2 piece fillet shrimp basket. I was very disappointed in my order. They called the owner and he had the two young girls doing the dirty work by saying no refund and it is a 2 piece fillet. Now if thats how you making your money by fooling people with that 2 piece is a 2 piece bit, your business will not last long, and the shrimp was over cooked. For 16.99 I Expected a lot more or at least my 2 piece, not one split down the middle. It could be swai fish cause it didnt taste like catfish. It would have been common courtesy to fix the problem with one customer. I should have stuck to my black own business. At least you would have gotten what you pay for. pictures coming soon.

The only reason Im giving a one star is because my bf liked the crawfish. I had the catfish and fries and it was NOT real catfish, that was definitely Swai. It was NOT GOOD AT ALL! The fries were hard and cold. I shouldve followed my first mind based on the reviews but my bf wanted to try the crawfish and Krab Kingz was out of it. Save your money and go elsewhere like Krab Kingz or Shells and Tails. I will not eat here again nor do I recommend anyone else to do so.
