My daughter had an amazing experience in Ms. Adja establishment. Her braids are neat and uniformed and she LOVES them. It was not the style we initially went in for, but she loves it. I also wanted to compliment some of the things I noticed while there waiting with my daughter. Ms. Adjacent walked around and talked to each client and talked to her braiders as if giving lessons while they are producing fabulous hair styles. We will definitely be a return customer! STAY AWAY! I was quoted one price but when I got there, I was told a completely different price.. even after showing the text proof. I told them I would only pay the price I was quoted. Once the braider was finishing up my hair and older lady (idk her name but she s rude as hell) asked me to pay w/ an attitude. I told her yes I ll pay but to let me see my hair first bc I couldn t see it. She then got an attitude and stated no other client asked to see their hair and that they do good work. I told her well I am not anyone else I need to see my hair first! She processed to stand over me , I told her not to stand over me and that I knew she was upset about me not paying the new price. I told her that was whoever quoted me price, not mine! She then said okay well if u don t like your hair then we can take it out. They are rude as hell! The braids were so thick and chunky! I told them to cut the braids. I was not about to pay for a service were I was mistreated over being misquoted. PLS SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND STAY AWAY!

I have been a client for almost 2 decades. I braid or twist my hair when I come. Most of the braiders I have had have always had an easy touch when braiding. The lines are always crisp and neat and I always get compliments on how nice the hairstyles look. Requested style: I like box braids and I have done Senegalese twists, 2 strand twists & cornrows and occasionally a crochet hairstyle

I made an appointment. Upon arriving at the scheduled appointment time, the shop was completely closed. The braiders eventually arrived. However, door was as still locked and they couldn t get in. Very unprofessional.

Fairly new to Texas. I wear a pixie cut so my hair is short. Went on line to find a braider especially for short hair. Wanted to ride out this Texas heat with braids. I stumbled upon this shop read the reviews so. I booked I was not disappointed Fatima (may be wrong spelling) She gripped every short piece of my hair for corn rows. Absolutely love love my hair. This is the worst braiding salon I have every visited. They tried to change the style I wanted then when I demanded she change it to my preference. She got angry with me started intentionally pulling me hair. I asked for a refund but he decided to comply. After I took my hair down three week later my hair had fallen out. I am in the process of suing this salon.

I have been getting my hair braided here for a few years. I have always been pleased with the work and constantly get compliments, but I always do the Senegalese twist. I communicate clearly and monitor the work. However, in my opinion, this is not the place for elaborate styles.

I found this place on google when looking for a braid shop, and booked an appointment. These are the best braids I ve ever had. I live in Louisiana, and it took me 3 and half hours to drive to Texas, let me tell you it s worth the ride. I m a hairstylist for 32 years, and I will tell you these ladies are the best braiders in Desoto, Texas. Go to them I promise you will be happy when it s over. Love my hair

I made an appointment online. When I arrived, the braiders looked confused that I was there and told me to come back the next day. Good work but poor customer service. They overbook and have no respect for your time. Its the same no matter how far in advance you book. I really want to like this establishment but cant due to the lack of consideration of time. DO NOT BOOK ONLINE. I would recommend walk in only if you plan to use this establishment. Even then, prepare to spend 11+ hours.

Been here many times and Adjas Braiding has always tried their best to accommodate me in their schedule on short notice. I work overnights and they work pretty hard to make sure the style I leave with is the style I want. I got 4th of July Braids for my birthday tomorrow and Ms. Fatu did wonderful on them. Thank you!! Edit: I came today and the same they have always operated on was all of a sudden too short for them to deal with. The lady that was there laughed in my face and talked ill of my hair in front of my face even though the length hasnt changed. I felt disrespected. I even gave an hour and a half notice that I was coming. Adja and Fatu were wonderful, but they werent there and once again I was disrespected because they just didnt feel like doing it. I will never go here again unless Adja is present because she has never tolerated that kind of customer servuce in her shop.

My mom took me to get my hair braided over my locks and it was the best work anyones ever done. I was so happy! I was whipping my hair back and forth. I would definitely go back. I NEVER leave negative reviews but I think patrons should know the truth and be fair warned. Scheduling appointments do not matter because they overbook themselves and you will wait for multiple hours. Also, the price will be different than what you are quoted over the phone. The concept of time doesn t exist at this establishment. If you ask how long the style will take double or triple it. I was there literally 11 hours. While there I saw others complaining as well about the same issue. One woman complained that she had been there for 5 hours and only a few rows of her braided style was completed. This was my first and LAST TIME patronizing this place. Also, I understand a little French and they were talking about their customers loudly in French as patrons grew tired and exhausted with the unprofessionalism. I thought I found a gem because they are open on Sundays but instead I found an overbooked establishment with no respect for patrons, their time or appointments. Sadly, the quality of their work was very good from what I could tell but unless you have packed breakfast, lunch and dinner and cleared an entire day, it s simply not worth it. Schedule at your own risk.

It is 1:27 AM, I ve been here since 4 PM. Yes, you read that right. My appointment was for 4:30 PM and they didn t start on my hair until about 5:45 PM. Mind you, I was dropped off so I have to WALK home. Before they started, Yaba told me that they were going to eat first, cool I was early anyways; that lasted over an hour. Yaba stated on my hair, but wasn t braiding all the way down. Cool, that s normal. She has someone they called mama come finish the ends, except she wasn t doing a very good job. At this point it s 7 PM. By the time Mama finished the braids that s Yaba started, it was 8 PM and that was only ONE section of my hair. As time is moving forward, I m asking them how much longer, and Yaba tells me they are short 3 girls. I made this appoint at 9:58 AM Sunday morning. If by the time my appointment came, you knew you were short, you should ve said something so I can make a decision on whether I wanted to wait or not. They then had the nerve to have an attitude. Besides me, there was a man there at 12:30 AM who wasn t satisfied with his braids or the $80 he had to pay for the poor job. There was also a school-aged girl there who was there when I walked in, and they started her hair around 4:30-4:45 PM and she wasn t out until after 1 AM. Her mom was upset and rightfully so. I also let Yaba know that I was a first time customer and was not having a good experience and they started to speak in a foreign language so I couldn t understand what was being said. I m NEVER going back here and if you value your time and money, I wouldn t suggest it. I was not satisfied with the outcome of my hair, but again being that it was 1:30 AM, I was just ready to go. They also make you pay for services before they finish.

I have been going here to get my braid downs for my crochet styles. I love that they can get me in quickly, often the same day. They are very quick. The building is a bit dated but they it does not discount their service that they provide. The owner is very nice and she handles her business fairly. She likes to see all the stylist do a good job and she pays attention to ensure things are being done right by the customer in what they want. Ill keep coming back.

I have been coming to get my hair braided here for approximately 10 years and I can t see myself going anyplace else. For me coming here feels like coming to see family. They are always kind and professional and the work is always exceptional! My braids typically last about 3 months and that saves me a lot of time in the morning and money since I am not going to the shop every 2 weeks. I wanted twists in my hair & asked a friend for a recommendation. She immediately gave me Adjas contact information. I had a great 1st experience!!! Adjas niece (her name is also Adja) began twisting my hair within 10 mins of my arrival. She was pleasant and professional. Another staff member pitched in when she was finished with her customer. I noticed how well the women working here got along. Today Im here for a touch up around my edges. After 2 months, some of the twists had come out in the front of my hair. Adja (the owner) took care of me immediately. She assessed my hair & assigned a staff member to do the twists. I thought they were only going to replace the missing twists in the front but she said the back needed to be done because I wear them up. I highly recommend this shop for all types of braids, twists & weaves. The staff starts on time, prices are reasonable, the shop is clean, everyone is nice, yet about business!

Went to braid my hair here and the customer service was extremely poor. I was told $260 initially. 3 hours later another braided jump in to assist the lady braiding my hair. The new lady was loud and rude yelling at me that my hair should be $350. By the way am just getting medium braids. Here for over 6 hours no water was offered to me. They gave attitude when I insisted I was told $260. Braiding my hair seemed like a burden to them because they couldn t extort me. She yelled and laughed on the phone for over one hour. I ve been coming to Adja hair braiding since 2015, everyone is hands on when it comes to any braiding style. You hardly have to wait to be seen, you don t have to set an appointment though it is common courtesy but walk-ins are welcomed. They are the best braiding shop in the DFW if you ask me! Very diverse, clean, and they play the best nollywood movies, and music. I recommend anyone wanting long lasting weaves,braids etc COME HERE!

I called late in the evening to inquire about braiding services, they answered promptly and very polite and eager to assist me my questions even offered I come in right then and they closed in 30 minutes. I followed up the next day and was able to get an appointment, walked right in and seated and services rendered! Everyone was kind and greeted me when I walked in which says a lot about the business. Firstly, she (Adja) told me 9am just for her to get there at 9:30 then had 7 other people at the door including myself. when I walked in she started on someone s head and two other girls where getting their hair done... So Im just sitting... Then when she looks at my hair shes states box braids will be better due to the length of my hair which I didn t mind as long as they were small. Im sure box braids are cheaper than knotless she still didnt come down off the price ($260). After a while I told her Ill just leave call me when you re ready. She asked me before I left to go the beauty supply for her to get more hair for her clients.. I just ended up leaving cause Im not a store runner On top of her being late. I set time aside from work to come get my hair done just for my whole day go completely wasted with my hair being undone. Service was poor.

I have read some comments that will say the opposite of what I m about to say but I would say this go and see for yourself. I am all about supporting businesses. However, this shop is the worst I m seen. First thing being on time is important. Yes every now and then running late is okay but every weekend that s poor management and leadership. Secondly, don t tell me on the phone one price and when I get to your chair something different. Especially if all I m getting is medium knotless braids to my bra length, nothing extra or different. This is consistent with her she always change the price once you are there. I finally decided no more and left. Lastly, your attitude and tone of voice is also important. I m paying for a service and what gives you the right to talk to me or anybody else disrespectful. I m in my mid 50 s and you don t even talk to your bad attitude daughter any kind of way, who is always late and disrespectful with the rest. There are too many other hair braiding shops to go to. As a matter of fact another one down the street on the right hand side in that shopping center. People please stop allowing your money to pay people who down care about you and mistreat you. Writing a review isn t my character but this lady has to learn that she needs us. Our hard earned money pays her bills. If you experienced what I wrote please say something so people can make a decision before going there and hopefully get her in line. Don t use anymore. Twice made an appointment with owner for special style, and she was not available for service. First time I called her to let her know I was waiting and she said something came up. 2nd time I arrived early and she was leaving. Said something came up. Also, the last time I was there, she cut my braids AND MY HAIR out too high. I told her to cut braids low, not to cut my own hair, and she said I know what I am doing . That was /.5 years ago Nd my hair just getting back right. One side was normal and other side was half the length. I sent her video at the time but she never responded. That was my last visit. I am extremely selective with where I get my hair done/braided. I always have had positive experiences at Adjas and I have been going there for years. Everyone Ive dealt with and who has braided my hair is extremely polite and friendly. Adja is an advocate for her customers and will make sure they are satisfied and treated with respect at all times. My mom even started coming here after I she saw my braids and twists and now she refuses to get her hair braided anywhere else. Its nice to walk in to the shop and actually be recognized as a repeat customer and treated accordingly.

Very unprofessional. I called for details before arriving at the shop the same day . I asked price , do they take cards which was a yes and do I need to wash my hair before coming,they said they would wash it . Go there , was a totallyyyyy different price . Card machine was down ! Got in the chair , lady was about to start , I m like do my hair need washing ? She said yes, Said it ll be an extra $10 which wasn t over the phone , she literally rinsed my hair out, no shampoo or anything , she stopped in the middle of my hair being finished to tell me to go to the gas station next door to get cash from the ATM which only let u get a certain amount at a time . So I explained that to her . She told me to cashapp the rest which I did ! Then later another lady , that was not doing my hair said I didn t cashapp the right amount which I cashapped exactly what the lady that was doing my hair told me , she got an attitude bc she was trying to change the price of my hair ! I called in & asked if they did walk-ins. The lady who answered the phone says yes. I come in 15mins later, was told to wait in the seating area. The lady who approached me asked what I wanted..I showed her a photo of myself with two basic braids. She gave it one look & told me NO.. I wont do it. I was urged away. This is more of a 3.5 star review. The first time I visited, I have no complaints as I ended up getting small twists. However, my most recent experience didn t go as good after getting medium sized Senegalese twists and that s due to lack of communication on both parts. My request was for medium length/medium size twists $210. Initially my hair was done in medium twists/long $240 with extremely small parts which means they were close together and a lot of hair was used on each twist (couldn t see my scalp). -I have a small head, so this made my head extremely heavy. The braids were so tight and heavy that it literally made me sick and I couldn t get sleep that night after leaving the shop at 8 pm; (I could feel they were heavy but didn t get a thorough look until I got home). I tipped 3 of the girls $20 each when I paid (before my hair was finished (won t do that again because one did only a little bit and then left). While sitting to get my ends dipped, one girl asked why I decided to go with medium, I expressed to cut down on the takedown process -I also expressed this in the beginning and I honestly didn t realize that I needed to tell them to space the braids out, I m thinking that if you get medium twists, you get medium parts. I braid my own hair and others on occasion, it s just what I do. Parting small w/too much extension hair causes tension and breakage on the natural hair especially around the edges. I woke up for work the next morning and absolutely could not function; so I called the owner and she was extremely nice/sweet and told me that I could come in to get some of them resized to take the load off. I didn t realize that the person that I spoke with (who I m assuming is (I now call her mama Adaja) wasn t in the shop the previous day, I thought she was another lady. Anyhow, I get in and they tell me to take a seat for resizing and the main person that started my twist the previous day would be with me, they asked if I just wanted the front redone, and I expressed that I wanted the front and the middle redone because it was too heavy. The girl basically redid the front and attempted to ask if what she had done was okay/enough and I started pulling out sections of the middle as well to be redone. Had I gotten up and left, I would ve missed mama Adaja and still wouldn t have been happy (still sick). When she came in, she was like a wrecking ball about how heavy my hair was she was speaking in her language but I could pick up on some of what she was saying. She picked through my hair and explained that the sizes were too much for my head. The girl tried to explain that I didn t tell her not to put them close together and most folks don t want their scalp to show; but she wasn t taking any excuses and went thru the middle of my head and starting cutting braids that needed to bed redone into bigger portions telling her that three could become one , and she ended up making the other main girl that was on my head get up and assist because she wasn t going to help at all. The girls were upset speaking in their language (which is kind of understood because braids are a tedious process). However, professionalism is always expected; I don t have to speak your language to know that you re placing blame on me while sitting in your seat. As the stylist, it should ve been confirmed instead of assuming that I wanted my hair styled based on what others requested in the past. From now on I - ABSOLUTELY WON T tip in advance - Make sure that communication is clear about what I want. There was absolutely a break in communication here and some of it was because we couldn t verbally speak the same language. Little did they know, my hair was done for my birthday. So THANKFULLY, mama Adaja came in and made sure that I left out overall happy and because of this, I may be back.

Oh my, this was an experience. I have utilized their services before with no complaints. However, this time, it was too much. Context: On Thursday, October 21, 2021 I spoke with the owner regarding an appointment for small knotless braids. She told me to come immediately. I arrived in 5-7 minutes. The following occurrences did NOT bother me: (1) Upon arrival I sat in the chair for 30 - 40 minutes while the owner walked around, went to a side room and talked to her braiders. She finally touched my hair, than walked away for another 10 minutes or so. (2) One of the braiders baby was crawling around on the dirty, hair everywhere floor. She was crying and upset. I held her several times. (3) The owner stopped braiding my hair to eat, no worries, but then she left. (4) The braider with the baby began braiding my hair while I held, entertained the baby. Turns out she was teething, so she was fussy. (5) The owner returned and asked me to pay. I was quoted three different prices, so I chose the lowest one. (6) The owner braided my hair for a few minutes then she left, again. (7) Meanwhile the braider with the baby continued, stopping frequently to care for her child. She finally said something to the other braiders and she left. I waited and waited and waited. Finally a braider came over and finished. Once again, life happens, the above things didn t bother me. What bothered me, my knotless braids are three different sizes!!! Some are large box braid size and some are tiny knotless braids. I am very displeased. I have the Zelle receipt. The shop is located in the shopping center next to the barber shop and laundromat. Response: The owner did not take ownership nor did she rectify the situation.
