1st time going. The owners are friendly. The food was fantastic. Will be one of my favorites. UPDATE: When I went back, it was the total opposite of the first visit. I dont know if the lady at the register was just having a bad day or what, but she was so rude. Not only to me but also to a few others. I wont be back.

Ive been eating this food since 2017. Within the last two years it has started slacking so I took a break on it. Well I got in there today 05/21/2024 and get a plate of brisket and 2 sides. The food started smelling like old dirty water by the time I got back to work. I open it up its stinky and it smell like Vienna sausages its terrible so I called him like hey this food is not right what can be done. Well ion do refunds and I got a sign posted. So how do you compliment your customers , well this one time Ill do something about it you can come get something g else. But after that thats its. Nomore telling me my food aint right. At this point 29 dollars down the drain & im disgusted.

The customer service was great. However, I paid $26 for some old food. Nothing is fresh. The ribs taste like they were cooked in an oven and warmed up in a microwave. I bought greens and potato salad that taste store bought. I feel ripped off! Definitely will not be returning.

I hadnt visited Rays since before Covid. I had actually forgotten about it. The brisket did not disappoint, the baked beans were just right and I should have gotten a larger potato salad. Best Ive had in a long time and I know my potato salad. Will definitely go back!

Went for my birthday got the bbq chicken dinner plate with mac and cheese and corn Everything was microwaved the only way you can say it was good is if youve never had real bbq ever the only positive is the bbq sauce. Super upset felt like throwing up almost instantly spent $30 couldnt even finish my food and I felt robbed

The brisket 5 out of 5 stars The Mac-n-cheese 5 out of 5 The potato salad and baked beans 4.7 out of 5 stars. I even appreciate that they toasted the bread. What a good compliment to the meal. The bbq sauce and the customer service was great. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

We were visiting from GA and found Rays on Google maps. Glad we did! The food was great and the people were super friendly to us. We went back the next day. We travel to Desoto for a Football, Rays BBQ was amazing. Rays BBQ gives a hometown feeling and comfort food that warms your heart. The speed of service is amazing and the presentation is next level . The owner came a spoke to and we had a wonderful conversation. This was one of the highlights of the trip.

This place had the best chopped beef and pulled pork sandwiches my wife and i have ever had. The homemade bbq sauce and the lightly toasted bun with the tender meat was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The people who run it are great. Ray and Carol are so awesome. Dont let the small parking lot fool you! There is more parking in the back.

I am very disappointing today with thier service. I asked for a loaded back potato with one meat chopped beef -lean meat only-i hate fat I was told that the meat was already pre-cut. So I get what I get I guess It s a large baked potato so upon receiving my meal I ask for extra barbecue sauce and pulled out my card to pay for it I was shocked with the looks on their faces I wa told that they are not going to charge my card again because it cost too much and that if I want to extra barbecue sauce I will have to use cash. I just spent almost $15 on a on a baked potato , you couldn t eat $.81 worth of barbecue sauce? I will not be returning the customer service was not OK I have to go home and hope that I have barbecue sauce in the pantry. And the fact that she told me it came with two as if that should be enough for me. You don t know how I eat I don t want a dry potato I want barbecue sauce on my brisket. I shouldn t have to explain wanting extra sauce ! Its my food.

I was craving some BBQ, but the place I knew was always sold out by 2. I began the search... Rays was the first. I got 1 chop beef sandwich, 1 small side of corn, and they were out of cobbler, so I got chess pie. I had read where some noted that the sides were not from scratch, and boy was that accurate. The corn was straight from a can, no seasoning, no cooking etc. Even the kernel skins were tough / uncooked. The pie was good, but Id be surprised if it was homemade. The crust was your standard thick store bought crust with not a flake in sight. The BBQ sauce was ok, but it had too much vinegar to it. No sweetness at all. The prices I was charged did not match their prices online. Everything was around 2.00-3.00 more per item. 3 items cost 14.88 Now for the good part. The bun was toasted, the meat tasty and tender, and there was the perfect mix of bread to meat.

Im not from DeSoto, was visiting a friend today & took my 4 grandkids there for a late lunch. The lady behind the counter was friendly enough taking our order. But when I asked for french fries or fried okra, she told me to go next door - actually referred me to the restaurant next door! She said to go order that while she prepares our food. I did but when I got back, the teens had already recd their sandwiches. She brought me mine & asked if I had ordered my fries. I said yes but it will take 7 minutes. What? She said - it doesnt take that long. You start on your sandwich & Ill go get your fries. She went next door & came back with my fries! The okra wasnt ready, she said shed go back for that, which she did! Her hubby, Ray came out for a break (it was well after the lunch rush on a Saturday) & she introduced us. What out of this world service!! Ray sat down in a booth with another gentleman who was watching a football game on the restaurants TV up in the corner. The restaurant was spotless. Tables were neat and floor was spotless. You must wear a mask to enter any of the restaurants in the shopping center. You place your order at a huge plexiglass protecting the employees. Now about the food - OMG the sandwich was huge! and so fresh. We all got chopped beef - the sandwich was packed with fresh, hot tasty meat. It was served with a little cup of BBQ sauce, awesome flavor. The bun was fat, fresh, toasted and hot. One grandson order pulled pork - he said it was amazing. Another grandson ordered a loaded baked potato, that looked good, but it was gone quickly, so I didnt get a photo. When we left, my pickup wouldnt start. I asked the boys to go in & ask if they had jumper cables. They returned saying that Rays wife would go get cables. Seconds later she left & retd shortly. She pulled up next to me & the gentleman who was inside watching the game came out & applied the cables for us. My truck started right away. I gave her a hug (cant believe I didnt ask her name) and she told me to be blessed. Then she turned to the teens and said yall be blessed! We did honestly receive a blessing by stopping here. This will be my go-to place when I am visiting my buddy in DeSoto. Thank goodness for sweet, kind & caring people who go out of their way for you. I walked in with them and still got my food in a timely manner. Its my 1st time trying this place based solely off the reviews on Google and im glad I did! After a long work day I was craving a good BBQ meal. Google BBQ near me. This place came up that caught my attention. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. The Ribs fell off the bone and were well seasoned. The beans with ground meat was spicy and so so good. The potato salad was ok for me. I am just bias bc I love my sister Debra potato salad. The bread was toasted and wrapped in foil. HOLD ON... THE HOMEMADE 7UP CAKE AND GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE did me in. My My My!!! The portions was good for the price. The barbecue is good, but when the husband is there, the service is awful. The service is so bad, that I refuse to go back. My husband does though... My last time there I ordered a loaded potato and asked for some bread to go with it. His reply was bread doesnt come with the potato. OK Ill buy it, how much is it? His reply was uh uh, I said it doesnt come with bread. We went back and forth a few minutes and I eventually decided Ill just toast some bread at home. But I wont be back crazy. Not sure why someone would have a problem with MY review. This was MY experience. I still enjoy regularly, because the barbecue is absolutely delicious. Im just not personally going to pick up food here. In my experience the service was awful. Although I did try again months later and again the service was awful.

The brisket is so tender it falls apart and simply melts in your mouth. The ribs were excellent and even the bone itself falls apart. The BBQ sauce is so good! Potato salad was fantastic! Happened to be in the neighborhood and googled nearby restaurants. Rays came up and BBQ sounded good. Ordered the brisket...best I ve had in a long time. Good bbq here. Lots of fat on the brisket. About 35% of fat. Its was too much. Its kind of pricey for a family of 5. Spent $60+ on 2 pounds, 1 side and 2 small drinks. The best thing about this place is their bbq sauce. Its think, sweet and spicy and has a very nice texture. May return but only because its close and up then street from us.

Called in to place an order. The location was small, clean & quaint. Beautiful hand-painted mural on the wall. I didnt catch the womens name at the counter, but she was warm & felt like family.Purchased 1lb of St. Louis style ribs, 1lb sliced brisket & potato salad. The meat is so well seasoned and tender - not too salty - no sauce needed. So flavorful! The sauce was sweeter than Id like, but was still delicious. I highly recommend & I plan to come back soon.

I have been over 8 bbq places just in the last 3 months trying to prove to my wife that the Texan bbq is almost as good as Peruvian food. However, nothing impressed her until today. RAYs BBQ really fulfilled her expectations! And even my little one who is a picky eater ate all her food with no complaints and without asking for salt to enhance the flavor. I can name several pretty good bbq places around the area, BUT my wife always says: Food is not that good if I have to add a bunch of sauce on top. And I absolutely understand her now. However, I have to add that the bbq sauce its amazing! I have to come back and try the cobbler that someone else is recommending in one of the other comments.

I cant believe it. Im pretty sure these are the best ribs Ive ever had. Ive hit barbecues all over the country including the ones in Lockhart twice. The st. Louis ribs were large (I ordered a pound), incredibly moist and fall off the bone, with a great rub and the right amount of rub. I live in Colorado. I wish I could come back a couple times to see if they could maintain this incredible quality, but according to other reviews they do. I came because of the reviews. I really enjoyed chatting with the people at the counter while waiting. That too, is something I would return for.

I was picking up food from the other two locations on the strip and wanted to check out the menu, didnt really want any food just desert. Im a peach cobbler critic, if YOU can make good peach cobbler, YOU MY FRIEND!!!! I was admiring the art work on the walls and before I could take pictures my order was ready (I really needed to pee, didnt want to use any public facilities ) grabbed that, picked up my wings next door and mu brothers pizza next to that and zoomed home. WHEN I TELL YOU THIS PEACH COBBLER WAS GOOOOD I ate the whole thing even the bottom crust (I never eat the bottom crust)it was perfect, fluffy and HOT!!! Why 3 stars? Well my wings were disappointing, after eating that then diving into this peach Cobbler made right, Im flipping through it looking for my peaches....lol ate them 4 peaches on top, then started eating the crust. I didnt have enough peaches, it was a lot of crust, definitely going back to try the cobbler again just to make sure, and some other food items and post the beautiful artwork.

FYI 01/26/2019 9:15 P.M. I just got accused of potentially robbing Ray s Bar-B-Q in Desoto, TX. Here is the situation. Angie called in an order for the family for dinner. I went to the location and walked in, went to the conner. The lady behind the counter asked may I help you? I said yes I am here to pick up an order for Paul. The lady behind the counter said ok as she steps back and says I thought you were about to rob us, you had your hands in your pocket. I didnt know what you were about to do. I was about to push this button over here. I then told the lady I am not here to rob you, I am here to pick up my food. I payed for the food and she told me to have a blessed day. I was extremely upset at this point but did not show any frustration. I got into my SUV and went home. I explained the situation to my wife and she was disturbed as well. I then called back to the location and asked to speak with the owner and the same lady that accused me of potentially robbing her answered the phone and said she was the owner. I explained my frustration as calm as a mice speaking to lion. The lady completely minimized my complaint by telling me how she felt but she apologize and hope that I would come back and do business with her as I remain silent. I then told her to have a great evening and hung up. Let me explain to you what could have happened here. I am a state LTC (licensed to carry) a concealed weapon. Mind you I never showed my weapon nor did I mention I had a weapon at any point. If this lady would have pressed her button and the police came my life could have been threatened simply because my hands were in my pocket. Being a Black Man in America is very dangerous. I have so much more to say but dont have the time to write it all down at this point.

For the amount you have to pay for a stuffed baked potato >$10 (after tax) you would expect a fresh potato. Not one that has changed colors( waxy and gray) from being warmed over a million times. Otherwise, the brisket has a good flavor.

They have superior customer service and they have a mean pecan pie. Ooooo weee! Aint nothing like good customer service, good food and good people. Rays BBQ has the full enchilada! The artwork screams hometown pride and spiritual solidity. The energy in the building is awesome and Ray is a really cool guy who takes great care of every customer. My hard earned pennies only go where my friends and family get treated with respect. We will definitely be returning.
