Stop in today to try them out. I order a rib sandwich and drink which came out to right shy of 20 dollars. I read the reviews and a few people told me they where good. ABSOLUTELY NOT.... ALMOST 15 dollars for 2 pieces of toast and 3 dried out ribs. People need to stop with the 4 stars. The ribs were cold and dried out. The only fresh thing was the toast. Naw it aint for me hope the next person has better luck because today I gambled and lost.

Staff was kind but the food wasn t worth the $50 I spent. Wasn t a fan of the sides and when I asked for pickles and onions I was charged $2 for a whole old pickle they cut up in the back and two thin slices of onion. I also spent $10 for about a handful of thinly sliced sausage pieces said to be half a pound. I would of been better off at Spring creek bbq

I got the beef loaded potato with a side of greens so much food. There s no way I could possibly eat it all but so delicious. I might pop trying! The young lady who helped me was very helpful and kind definitely has the mom and Pop shop vibe highly recommend

I ordered the ribs and I must say they were the best seasoned ribs I have tasted in a VERY, VERY, VERY long time. I mean seasoned to the heavens, BUT I now have an idea of what its like to chew a tire. The meat was soooo tough that I threw more than half away on each rib. IDK if it needs to cook longer or what (because idk how to cook ribs), but the meat was tough as h3ll. I am willing to give it another try down the road just to make sure it was a one time thing. It was seasoned that well to be frank. They could also clean up a little better as well. Will update rating if/when I go back. I would give a 2.5 rating if it were an option.

I don t usually leave reviews on restaurants, but I most definitely had to leave a review on this, the customer service was phenomenal the loaded potato and 1 meat plate I ordered was amazing, and to top that off I ordered to regular peach cobblers when I wish I would ve gotten a large because that peach cobbler is one of the best in the city I have ever tasted, I can wait to come back!!

Went today and was highly disappointed, never have they given me such monstrosity of a plate. I bought the food for my family but they let me taste because of the quality. Their ribs are usually always on point but the MOST disappointing part was the Mac and beef and they dont ever want to sell you 2 serving with your dinner plate, I dont know why not. But the cake was also hard as I dont know what. It was not soft. It all just tasted old. I never had such a disappointing experience, even the time before the Mac and beef was not good. Please prepare it like a couple years back because this aint it.

I came here today 4/5/24 and ordered the 2 meats with ribs and two sides and got the link & chopped beef with ribs, green beans & potato salad! When I say everything was made to perfection omggggggg . meat literally was so tender and falling off the bone, link had a spicy kick, chopped beef & sides were perfectly seasoned you can t beat that for $20! I didn t even get a chance to use the bbq sauce because the food was so without it! I will definitely be coming back here soon! Money well spent, keep it up y all

We ordered a rib basket & link basket and it was not OUR barbecue. We could have gotten spring creek or dickies for this. The fries were unseasoned and extremely soft. The link basket was sliced sausage. The toast was okay & I mean really it s toast. It was super soft and barely toasted.

Young man on register was extremely nice and friendly. Rib plate large ribs and plenty for 15.99 and 2 sides great deal, buuuut meat is extremely tough and they put sugar on it. Good flavor. Just west of I35 in south Dallas, this is a must stop for bbq. You re met with the real deal smoke aroma as you walk up. It s a quiet kinda place, but the lady behind the counter welcomes you quickly. Of course the brisket is tops. Just don t pass on the cabbage, made fresh everyday. I was the only non-regular there. If I lived 200 miles closer, I would be. BTW their lunch specials are the best bbq deal around.

Amazing chopped beef brisket, potato salad and beans! So impressed. I really wanted pulled pork, but they didn t have any. My husband promised it would be good and it was amazing. Potato salad didn t have heavy mustard or dill, which is always hit or miss at most places. Great job to Evans bbq. We will definitely be back for more.

I came here for lunch today. I got the rib plate with the beef mac n cheese, and green beans. I also got some peach cobbler. The cobbler container was packed full of delicious cobbler. The ribs were tasty and the sauce wasnt overwhelming. The sides were also delicious. The 2 ladies working were very nice. My food was ready pretty quick. I love Evans BBQ RIBS! In my opinion, they have the best RIBS in North Texas. I went there yesterday and they had Cajun Catfish and Pork Chops which were amazingly delicious. The chops were moist, juicy and seasoned to perfection. Ditto for the fish! Can t wait for the weekend because I will definitely be back there for seconds. Oh, by the way, the new owners are super friendly and and professional. If you haven t eaten Evans BBQ yet, I strongly recommend that you do!!

When I walked up to this place it looked closed. I had to pull the handle to know it was open. No lights on no open sign no people. I still decided to give it a try. I got 2 of the lunch specials. My beans where messy made my bottom bun soft. The potato salad was horrible. The best thing going for my plate was the beans and the bun. Its lunch time my food should have been hot and good especially when there is nobody in the building. The cashier didnt know what they had or could do. Its just my first and last time period. And napkins are .86 a roll run out go grab more and maybe get some BBQ sauce as well since non was offered or added.

This review pains me. I lived in Desoto for years and this was my favorite place to eat. Both because the food was great and to be able to support my people on doing good business. I visited Evans today because I was in the city and wanted something good to eat. I should have read the reviews first... I could not believe what I paid for and simply could not make myself eat. This was pathetic. I honestly didnt know what I was eating. I had to through it away. First time here and the presentation of the environment was not up to par I completely lost my appetite after looking at the cleanliness of the front and only can imagine what it s like in the back Bae got a pound of brisket ($17.99) with a large side of pinto beans w/ ground beef ($5.80). The brisket taste better eaten with the bbq sauce and he got through half of the beans before he had, had enough. Will try again in hopes that it meets the hype of those whom brag on them, that has eaten there for years.

Very disappointed. I have been a loyal customer for years but the last 7 times I have been there it has been HORRIBLE. Don t get me wrong the food is still good but it is way overpriced and they give you such smaller portions. But the worst thing of all is that it there are always things unavailable on the menu which isn t much to choose from. You walk in and there is NO greeting for at least five minutes. Once you wait a LONG time for your food the bag is super greasy. Another customer REFUSED to take the bag and asked for a new one. I always order a baked potato with sour cream on the side because I have a child who cannot eat it but somehow they put it on every time and I have to wait even longer for another one. UNFORTUNATELY They did the same thing again today but told me the first potato was the last one so me and my two small children waited for 20 to 30 minutes to not get any food. Not to mention that they are always out of baked potatoes and when I once called ahead before mine was given away. When Miss Johnny Was there every day things were fine but now there is no organization. I realized most of the customers are leaving frustrated. They have officially lost me as a customer. This review is not to bash Evans but bring awareness to them many customers have complained. The five customers that were in there with me the last time all had complaints. It is time that the business start being ran better or they will run out of business

I been knowing Ms Johnny and her husband for 30 yrs or more I used to enjoy their food I have never left a review for them but this time I needed too. I purchased a slab of ribs and a pork chop basket and I ended up throwing all the food in the trash it was so bad. $43.30 is what I paid for the food it was that bad. If I had known Ms Johnny had retired I wouldnt have even stopped by. Evans barbecue used to be one of the best but not no more. The ribs were actually that bad, the pork chops were horrible. If I could give a zero star I would. They should have at least trained the new staff and let people know they retired then that way clients know the food might not be the same. Visited Evans BBQ Saturday, May 7th about 3.30pm. There were a few people waiting when I arrived. I placed my order and waited, and waited, and waited, etc In between FINALLY getting my order 30+ minutes later they managed to screw up EVERY SINGLE ORDER called before me! Some folk got items they did NOT order, some didn t get what they DID order, customized (baked potato), orders were not fixed correctly, etc On my end, I didn t get my peach cobbler (they ultimately filled a large container only HALF FULL), nor the slice of pie and that was on top of the guy from the back trying to hand me a rack of ribs over the counter IN THE FOIL WRAPPER and NOT in a bag!? Really? He d actually done that with someone s side dish earlier. After being a customer of Ms. Johnnie s for over 10 years, the service and food quality is just not the same. Not sure I ll be returning.

Ive been coming here for years, like 20 years. This was my last visit. Food was horrible. Not to mention Ms Johnnie has retired. I was informed that it was still family owned, but whose family, somebody didnt pay attention on cooking skills. I pray that it gets better, but I just wasted money on something I couldnt eat, ribs were large and non tender and nothing but fat. I went because I was referred to this place. Wasnt the best experience for my first time and for the money spent. I ordered what I thought was a 2 meat dinner, but was informed after I had paid that I was getting the 2 meat PLATE because you cant mix the meats with the dinner. So... 2 meat plate ( ribs and links; sides were potato salad and Cajun rice), a large banana pudding and a small peach cobbler... $25 ($24 and some change, that put me closer to $25). Got home and opened my plate... I had what appeared to be about a tablespoon full of rice and the same for the potato salad, some sliced sausage, because I dont believe they were links, and 3 ribs. Rice was bland, along with the banana pudding AND the peach cobbler, and the potato salad was a bit runny... It had slid down under my meat, which is why I initially thought it was a good amount, until I lifted the meat and slid the potato salad back into the partition on the plate. Thats when I realized that there was barely anything to eat, smh. The only thing that was decent for me was the ribs, but they were smaller than I expected, and one had a lot of fat on it. Bananas in the pudding were already browning, and the peach cobbler had very little flavor. If the food hadve been right, then I wouldnt have minded what I paid. But to order something, barely get any food, and 90% of the food wasnt good...its hard to give a good review. Service was decent though... , but this was a first and a last for me. Not saying that this is how it is always, because it was my first time, and I was referred here, which means they typically have good food. I just wish I had a better experience. Maybe it was a bad day for them... We all have days like this.

This place has been my favorite BBQ diner for years. The last two visits werent so good, with yesterday being the worst. The plate looked good, but the beans were very salty and the dirty rice was just dirty. The ribs didnt have the usual glaze nor smoke. In fact, they were cold, hard, and small(like some men I know). Im sorry but I was not impressed. I had a Chopped beef sandwich, macaroni salad and Cajun rice. The meat was completely dried out. I drowned it BBQ sauce and still didnt work. But the service was great from our season Saint working the front. I wish I had great news about this restaurants food but it was terrible. I cant even finish it.

I am very impressed with Evans barbecue the ribs are amazing, I cant find ribs that even come close to theirs, and the Mac and beef is delicious as well sometimes a little bit greasy bit other than that delicious

I use to come here all the time. I ordered the beef and mac and it doesnt taste like the recipe I remember. Usually this place is packed and hardly anyone was park there. My mac tasted like hot mayonnaise. I use to see Mrs. Evans working there behind the counter. Im curious if they still own this place. Ive been a fan of their delicious ribs and mac and beef for 10 plus years now. It was just disappointing.

So good I came back twice in one day. I would definitely recommend this place. staff is very friendly. Call your order in and walk in to pick up. They take walk-ins but it can take a little time but not too long. This is definitely a road trip go to place.

We ordered a rib plate & jumbo baked potato (which is actually two regular potatoes). It was a little pricey ($24). There was a nice portion of ribs (5) and the bake potato was HUGE. However, the sauce on the ribs was SWEET (I dont necessarily prefer sweet) & they could have been more tender.

First time there. Had the rib meal with green beans and potato salad I believe mustard base. It was delicious. Enough to shake the owners hand. The female that was serving was all over the place though. It was my turn to order and asked her a question and she was just not attentive. That was bothersome and disturbing. Plus it did not smell of barbeque but thats ok the food was absolutely delicious I M P R E S S E D. Definitely going back!

If it were possible Id give them half a star, and thats still being generous. I ordered a sliced brisket plate with green beans and beef macaroni. I waited about 20 minutes to get a plate with side portions were so small that I was able to eat them in three bites. The brisket was tough, and had no smoke flavor. It could have used about three or four more hours on the grill. I really wanted some good bar b que. Instead I got an expensive plate of disappointment. I wasted my money. Ill NEVER go back.

The bbq baked potatoes are AMAZING! They give you two moist potatoes, the bbq and the cheese with sour cream on top is a BEAST. Also Ms. Evans is a sweetheart and will come out from cooking in the back to greet all of her customers. During COVID they take safety precautions and I always feel safe going in.
