The PANE started off promising with the Heirloom wheat focaccia and cultured butter. The bread was soft, fluffy, and absolutely delicious--the best thing on the menu, hands down. Then we moved on to the Fried squash blossoms. They looked beautiful, and the crispy exterior was nice, but the pea purée? Way too sweet, and the texture was off--it reminded me of toothpaste, which isnt what I want in a dish. The Suppli didnt do much to redeem things. It was just... all cheese. The flavor and texture were too much like a mozzarella stick, and I couldnt taste anything else. When it came to the mains, the pork chop was a letdown too. It was way too sweet, and honestly, the peppers were the only thing on the plate I enjoyed. The Agnolotti wasnt much better--it felt like plain, boring pasta, with no flavor that stood out. We finished with the Crostata for dessert, and it was pretty forgettable. The gelato was nice, but the pastry tasted like something youd grab at a grocery store bakery. It wasnt anything special, just a generic apple fritter at best. Overall, the meal was really mediocre. The service, though, was fantastic--our waiter was super kind and took time to explain everything in detail. The food was plated beautifully, but honestly, the flavors didnt back it up. It feels like the restaurant gets hyped because its hard to get a reservation, but the food doesnt live up to it. Its kind of pretentious and definitely not worth the effort.

The service was impeccable, Elsa was our waitress and was super knowledgeable and the manager was incredibly kind and welcoming. 2 stars is being extremely generous! Got the outdoor patio seating where I was able to eat my food next to a street where less than 10 away was someone taking out their trash. Right next to a sidewalk where people were coming right by us as we ate. Super pretentious menu that honestly was a complete disappointment, you figure with the effort to even get a reservation you would be able to enjoy a meal. Sadly no all the choices are something that you would expect in an extravagant restaurant however the taste simply wasn t there. I went with a salad that ended up covered in way too much Parmesan cheese like 3x too much. I went with the Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese which was super disappointing I couldn t even eat it! To save face in front of my wife because she really wanted to come here, I kept in my feelings but I can honestly say NEVER AGAIN. Why choose a ran down little shack on a side street to have sold out reservations has to be some scam, I seen where you can place a bid for a reservation lmfao I couldn t stop laughing. I certainly wouldn t bid on someone else s reservation to eat at a restaurant that has such a limited ever changing menu that you have to hope will have something you may actually enjoy eating. This place is not that! I want to go out to eat something amazing not something that tasted like sour canned spaghettios I haven t tasted pasta sauce that bad since I was eating in a cafeteria in grade school. Even my pasta was crunchy cause the noodles were undercooked. Talk about an over exaggeration of an experience, I ve had some bad Italian before but this one ranks worst of the worst.

Ive been hearing about Osteria Il Muro from so many different friends & online publications over the past few years and finally got a chance to try it last night with my husband and two friends. Denton is certainly a bit of a trek for us, but all that travel was worth it for the excellent dinner experience. From the very beginning when we parked and checked in all the way through the night, service was amazing and we felt super cared for. We arrived about 20 minutes early for our 7:30 reservation and at the door we were greeted by James, who brought out a couple of wine menus and let us know that they were wrapping up the last cover and would probably be able to seat us early! We waited outside for about five minutes before being brought inside to our table. The vibe inside was super cozy; we loved the wall tiles and ceiling detail and the family photos hung around the house, and it was neat to be able to peek across the room and see the chefs hard at work. Our server Belen was so helpful explaining the menu in full detail to us throughout the evening and providing great recommendations when we asked about various dishes. Our group started with the focaccia which was incredible! All the reviews that mention how delicious it is truly didnt steer us wrong. We loved the sweet tinge of honey on the bread and the cultured butter was so smooth and flavorful. Amazing first bite, which then led into our antipasti. We went with the fried squash blossoms, the duck liver mousse, the heirloom tomato and nectarine salad, and the peppadew peppers, which was a good combination of lighter and heavier dishes. Our favorite was the duck liver mousse, spread across perfectly toasted bread and paired so well with the apricot preserves and crunchy pistachios. I also really enjoyed the salad; the fruit and dressing had such a lovely brightness! And the squash blossoms came with this sweet basil crema and orange honey, super fun flavor combination. For primis, we ordered the off-menu special of the evening, a sous vide coppa with pan-fried gnocchi, as well as the leek top fettuccine, tortelli, and the risotto of the day. All of these items were incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing them family-style. The risotto of the day was Mexican-inspired, super creamy and bright with a nice little kick from the chili crunch. The leek top fettuccine was an amazing carbonara-esque dish, and the tortelli came in this incredible creamy tomato sauce that we loved. The coppa was probably the worlds best version of a holiday ham, so tender and moist with a lovely sweet glaze. All the flavors of each dish worked so well together and I wish Id had room for more! We ended with a couple of desserts: the gelati flight which came with three delicious flavors (my favorite was the cherry!) and the best cannoli weve ever had. Shells were super thin and shatteringly crisp, and the filling was lovely with the crumbled pistachios at the ends for crunch and some amarena cherry drizzle. A delightful end to our meal! On our way out we saw the little garden out back where a lot of the herbs and vegetables are sourced, which was super lovely. Denton is far but if were able to snag another reservation wed love to come back and try more of the delicious creations the team at Osteria Il Muro puts together.

Having live din Europe for almost a decade, this is the only establishment that allows us to travel gastronomically in a way that one could only dream of doing. Worth the wait for trying this restaurant! Our reservation was on a weekday evening but the service and atmosphere felt like prime time on a Saturday night; buzzing, lively, and fun. Reservation started exactly on time, so I recommend arriving five minutes before to ensure a smooth and great experience. Our server, Ben, was fantastic. He did an excellent job not only describing the dishes ingredients, but also the flavor profile and things we would recognize. His recommendation of the fried squash flowers was delicious. We would have skipped dessert if he didn t describe the menu item as well as he did! From start to finish, the food, service, and experience were worth the hype. I know the reservation process is extremely frustrating but I would tell everyone to keep trying! 5/5 and plan to bring friends here next for a double date! Hope to get Ben as our server again!

The setting is well lit, yet intimate. The duck ravioli and grilled Red Drum were so very delicious. The sourdough foccacia with cultured butter was so very delicious and a large enough portion that we were able to nibble on it throughout the whole dinner. The squash blossoms with basil cream and honey, I could have just eaten them forever. For dessert, the Semifreddo is the creamiest and most delicious thing, perfect ending with some espresso. I cant wait to go back. Parking: They have a small lot thats shared with another business, so parking is easy.

Definitely recommend the bread and butter to start - it will have your taste buds exploding with the combination of the tartness from the focaccia made with sourdough starter, and the homemade butter that is oh so smooth and creamy. Alright, so.... My wife and I have been here a good half dozen times. The food and service are always impeccable. Neither of us have had a disappointing dish, and the one time I had a minor issue with my main, it was handled both quickly and over my protestations that the response was too much. But...man, that reservation system. It used to be a little easier to get booked, but its always felt a little like what I imagine trying to buy Taylor Swift tickets is like. However, the past couple times Ive tried, anything approaching a good dinner time has been taken before the system even goes live. This is because Scott books an ever increasing portion of his slots behind the scenes--to various regulars who have followed him from previous restaurants, and to his myriad of investors. While I understand the loyalty, I dont think this is a sustainable approach to growing the business in the long run. At any rate, while weve thoroughly enjoyed every visit to Osteria, weve given up on the reservation system, and havent been back for quite some time. Getting in the SECOND it goes live (Id check their site for the next live time + date and set a reminder 5 minutes out on my phone) only to have choices like 8:45 on a Tuesday or 5:15 on a Friday gets old fast. If the booking system ever improves, or at least if more desirable time slots are actually available when it goes live, we will happily be back.

Osteria IL Muro made our 19th wedding anniversary an unforgettable feast! From the moment we stepped through the door, it felt like we were being welcomed into a warm Italian home. Ben, our server extraordinaire, was like the godfather of good vibes and impeccable service. His enthusiasm for the menu and the dishes was so infectious, we almost asked him to join us for dinner! The food was pure Italian magic. Every dish was a love letter to our taste buds from the melt-in-your-mouth Wild boar polpette, Heirloom wheat focaccia with house made cultured butter to the Pansotti and Spizzulus pasta dishes that made us question every other pasta dish we ve ever had. Ben s recommendations were spot on, and his passion for the cuisine shone through with every delightful morsel. Celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary here was a brilliant choice. We laughed, we ate, we toasted to another 19 years. If youre looking for a dining experience that s as heartwarming and joyous as an Italian family reunion, Osteria IL Muro is the place. This is a treat yo self restaurant for sure. Get something on every category of the menu!! The bread is to die for, squash blossoms and peppadew peppers are my favorite appetizers, I always have to fight with myself over which entree and I always have leftovers because of the first two courses. My favorite entree I had was a pasta with wild boar meat (I have been multiple times and wish I remembered what this dish was called). And the dessert we always order more than one. My all time favorite was their affogato. Ignore any review that is less than 5 stars for this place their opinion is trash.

Landing the reservation felt like winning the lottery! Atmosphere- very intimate restaurant in renovated house. Garden in back to provide a farm to table experience. A few patio tables in front. All the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Great selection of wines. Food- the menu changes daily based on availability. I will definitely come back for the winter menu. Starters- focaccia bread was served warm with delicious butter. I would have preferred less of a sourdough taste. House cured meat board is a must have, the pickled green beans were a great addition. The lard pesto, thos was the most surprisingly delicious thing on the menu, I could eat this straight. This is not a traditional pesto more like a garlicky, citrus spread of lard butter thats light and very flavorful!! I was so ready for the squash blossoms. I had high expectations for these stuffed tempura blossoms drizzled in honey, but they turned out very greasy and the stuffing seemed curdled. Entrees- the bolognese was basic the hand made noodles with harder than al dente, definitely will rewarm with some spinach and pepper flakes. The lamb rigatoni was so good, the pasta was perfect and the lamb was so flavorful. The porkchop was not my first choice, but ended up being the best. The porkchop had a subtle smoked flavor top with a savory jam and peppers; many flavors thag marry well. The polenta and kale was a bit bland. Dessert- when you cant decide try both. The pound cake was a warm envelope of lemon citrus with fresh cream. The chocolate mousse was light and rich the hazelnuts provided the perfect amount of crunch with a tiny salty finish.

If you are looking for wonderful italian food this is where you must go! Absolutely the best in DFW area:) The meal we had as an early anniversary has made my week! I still have dreams about all the food I ate the other night. We started with their house made focaccia with their butter. It was crisp on the outside and fluffy in the inside, and the butter just melted in your mouth. The stuffed squash blossoms was one of my favorite items of the night with the pastas! The pastas were absolutely the best as well! The love for seasonal ingredients and just ingredients for itself really shows and I am just very happy I got to enjoy everything with my partner and my orange wine. Thank you to everyone and especially Holly for explaining everything to us kindly:)

This Italian scratch kitchen is a gem to find and almost impossible to get in to ... We love the atmosphere, culture, and exquisitely elevated dishes chef makes, with such rich flavor and consistency in execution. Weve been many times and will return many more. Dietary restrictions: Accommodative to all needs Kid-friendliness: Children not recommended. Small quite atmosphere, very intimate, complex dishes with no kids options.

Man I feel sorry with the people that have such a chip on their shoulder that they don t give this gem a 5 star. I ve been twice now and both times were absolutely magical experiences. The care and thought put in to each menu item is so apparent in the mind blowing flavor in each first bite of whatever new dish is placed in front of you. We are truly so blessed to have such delicious cuisine here in Denton. Osteria is hands down some of the very best food I have ever had the opportunity of tasting. My favorite dish was the coppa with the gnocchi. Their stuffed peppers are like Candy. So addicting. The wine menu is extensive and well vetted. Squash blossoms, fried risotto, focaccia, cured meats, bolognese, ALL to die for. Our server and the rest of the staff were warm and attentive. Thank you Osteria for loving Denton so much with the obvious heart and soul that is put into what can only be described as works of art.

Perfection. That s it, that s the review! Every single part of our experience at Osteria Il Muro was perfect; The ambiance - it is so cute & quaint, as soon as you walk in you feel like you ve teleported to Europe. The service - incredibly knowledgeable staff who made spot on recommendations based on our entire tables individual needs. The food - foodgasm (am I allowed to say that on here? lol) every single thing we ordered was flavorful and exciting. From the presentation to the savory taste. The wine pairings - our server knew exactly what to pair with our food selections and she exceeded all of our expectation s (most at our table weren t necessarily wine drinkers). All of this to say, 100% worth the visit! Don t miss out on the most extraordinary dining experience in all of DFW! I ll definitely be back!

What an absolutely incredible experience! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed, our table was ready for our reservation, and everyone was so kind. The menu was a bit daunting, as I had never heaed a few of the words on the menu, but Victoria did an amazing job of explaining the options on the menu and was extremely helpful with our dietary restrictions at the table (gluten free and pescatarian). The food was incredible, super fresh and vibrant, and my only complaint is that I didnt leave room for desert! Genuinely a 5 star dining experience, I cannot reccomend this lovely place enough. Im sure that all of the staff are amazing in their own right, but if youre fortunate enough to have Victoria for the evening, be prepared for a wealth of knowledge. We will be going back as soon as we can, its worth fighting for a reservation and certainly worth the money. Dietary restrictions: They have a few different options for people with dietary restrictions that are explained very well by staff and are just as amazing as everything else on the menu.

This place is amazing!! Our server (forgive me, I cannot remember her name at the moment - probably because I had a glass of bubbly), was super hospitable, friendly, and knowledgeable. She thoroughly walked through the details of the menu without making us feel out of place or dumb. Very attentive and you could tell she just knows her stuff and is passionate about the restaurant. Made great recommendations and helped us feel comfortable. The food blew us away. We had the focaccia and squash blossoms as starters. My husband had the rabbit sausage pasta and I had the vegetarian pasta dish with ricotta and wild onions. We had the coconut gelato for dessert. Everything tasted WONDERFUL and the attention to detail was impressive. I wish I wouldve taken pictures, but I was in the moment enjoying the whole experience. General manager James came by at the end to check in, and was also so friendly and knowledgeable - again, we just felt so comfortable throughout our dining experience. Everyone here we interacted with seems so passionate about the place and you can tell its well ran and they really care. We loved our time here and cant wait to go back! You will 100% enjoy your time here. Vegetarian options: 3/7 main courses were vegetarian at the time we went. Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian friendly, and vegan friendly if you give advance notice. Parking: Parking on the street out front, also a parking lot on the side/back of the restaurant. Plenty of parking when we went at 5:00. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance ramp

*Went Summer 2022* One of the best Italian spots Ive been to. I live in Dallas, but this was definitely worth the drive. This place meets the definition of a true gem. You get a quaint, charming house that serves as the actual restaurant. The staff is warm and inviting while the interior vibes are cozy and quaint. The food itself is incredible. The menu is dated so they change it daily most likely. This restaurant makes the best bread Ive ever had. 100% order their sourdough focaccia. My bolognese pasta was perfect, but the red fish (a special they had that night) was my favorite dish. That fish was so warm, soft and flavorful. The chocolate budino dessert was delicious. Ive been to a lot of Italian restaurants in Dallas. This spot, which is in Denton, is top 3 for sure. In fact, I have it in my top 2. Be sure to reserve in advance! Apparently when they release reservations online, they go rather fast. I got lucky and checked when someone had cancelled, so we got a table! I did see that every other day that month was completely sold out. This was my first time going. Ill 100% be returning again!

Wow is the detail I want to share about our experience here. I use the word experience simply because it is what best describes our time here. Every dish that was sat on our table from start to finish was magnificent. There is something to be said when individual ingredients of each dish are allowed to shine and not get lost in the plate. The attention to detail is very apparent here, from the service which was informative, and attentive to the thoughtfulness of the presentation from the moment you cross their threshold, to the manager that comes at the end of your meal for any comments or concerns about your experience. We had an excellent experience here for dinner. The flavors for each dish evoked a different feeling and almost transported us to times and places of when and where the dishes originated. The tastes were authentic to Italy and expertly crafted and the service from our server Bri matched. Our favorite antipasti was the Fried Squash Blossoms and the star main dish was the Gnocchi. The blossoms were so light and the cheese was perfectly melted inside, and the parmasean crema sauce along with the vecchio balsamic with the Gnocchi was reminiscent of a rainy day in Italy after foraging for mushrooms. Parking was bit tight.

I have been trying to get into this place for months...I am generally a single diner and with a broken heart, I have come to terms with the fact that it is just not going to happen (unless they buy the now empty MeatUp location - to gain more seating and change their reservation practice - hint, hint). However, on Fridays, they sell their bread for pick up. So, like a gleeful twelve year old on Christmas morning, I ran down there and bought three loaves. Yum. Seriously, Yum. I long for them to add a small bar for those of us who are single foodies but in the mean time, I at least have the bread!

First off, you feel special eating at Osteria in Muro after navigating the gauntlet of the online reservation process. They open up two months of reservations on a certain date and they fill in minutes. We obtained a 8:30 pm reservation for 2. The goal was for 4 much earlier. The wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable with the wine menu and every offering on the food menu. I will attempt to describe how great this was but I don t know Italian so you will get the foodie description. We started with an awesome warm bread that had fresh herbs and oil brushed on it. It was served with cultured butter. If you are a butter fan, this was as good as it gets. We then shared an heirloom tomato burrata plate and peppadew stuffed pepper appetizer. The wine selection was Italian. We asked for a wine that mirrored Napa cabs as much as possible. We enjoyed a bottle of Guidotti. Our main courses were both excellent. We had the chef special which was a pork steak procured from the neck of the pig. It was served over two types of polenta and topped with a plum sauce, mustard seeds, and greens. It was very flavorful. We also ordered the Tagliarini corn panna. A very nice handmade pasta with a corn creme sauce, chanterelles, pancetta, Fiore sardo, and chives. This was a very flavorful choice and presented well. Dessert options were all tempting. We settled on Torta al mocha. It had a blood orange meringue and nocciola which I believe was like a pudding base. I had to have an Americano with it which was executed well. It was a great date night and the later seating was worth it. I look forward to going again and trying something new. The menu changes daily! Wheelchair accessibility: Solid ramp

She was very patient and went through the menu with us (since neither of us speak the language). She was spot on with the wine suggestion as well. Went here with my boyfriend and we both agree this place was so good I had to leave a review! Service, food, and atmosphere were absolutely amazing. Some of the best food I ve had and can t speak highly enough of the friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Weve been waiting months for the chance to visit this restaurant and we were very lucky to snag a patio seat after randomly checking one night! The standout was the service - our waitress was attentive, friendly, and 100% knowledgeable about the menu. She offered to walk us through the entire Premi part of the menu and explained each dish in detail. Cant remember her name (tall, dark hair in a ponytail) but whoever she was, she was perfect! The food itself was very tasty and well presented. We had already had the focaccia from a takeout order a while ago, but it was even better in person at the table, and our two main dishes were excellent. To end the meal, we had the cookies and cream gelato - always a good choice!

There is not much to add that has not been said already, but I will try, briefly. This is a truly one of a kind dining experience in North Texas as far as I m concerned, where it s near a Herculean task to get quality pasta much less creative and meaningful Italian food. Yes, it s tough to get reservations, yes it s a small and intimate space, but these things are genuinely the only drawbacks in what was otherwise an incredible experience; there was nothing else to complain about in the entire evening. We leaned on the wisdom of our server Elsa, and she was fantastic. She suggested a wine that my wife thoroughly enjoyed and all of the dishes she recommended were outstanding (though I suspect there might just not be anything bad on the menu). The food was exquisite (standout being the squash blossoms for me), the service was attentive and excellent, the space is small but pleasant to be in, and the attention to detail does not go unnoticed in every corner of the restaurant. All I can say is, go! You will not be disappointed. This is a shining star in the DFW dining firmament, and I look forward to going back as soon as I can score another reservation!

What a joke on reservations. I log on at precisely 12 on THE day. Attempt 6 times to make various reservations 6 weeks out (on weekdays, no less) only to be notified no longer available. Within 7 minutes supposedly all times taken for a 2 month period. What is this, Taylor Swift? I think not. I wait list twice for Thursdays to no avail. Id rather cook myself than attempt again. Ridiculous process!

This is the definition of if you know you know . The service was amazing. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the dishes and the wines. He was very helpful is us choosing what to get, which was hard because we wanted it all. It s a very small restaurant, and the manager was great about reminding a table of that when they were almost yelling across their table. The food. Wow. Where do I even begin. Fresh. We just kept saying that. There wasn t a subpar bite. Every single thing we had from the bread to dessert was devine. If you can get a reservation, you must go.
