What a cool store!! I was looking through some pictures from 20 yrs ago, realizing how much I loved that camera from 2004. Low on pixels by today s standards , BUT had a really BIG sensor!! My first digital camera! I recently bought the body online, but surprise, I wasn t going to get them in time for my concert/gig, so I looked up Nikon stores in Dallas, and found this cool store 3 miles from me in Denton, Tx! I drove right over, found a body, a lens, the owner had a charger for this older model, and dug to help me with a battery. After charging up I was shooting within a couple of hours! Got me to my gig, and by then it added back up equipment. Cool store, cool owner!! Great for finding old to new equipment , and other things. Super 8 projectors and cameras, etc. Going back this weekend! Wish I had found before buying from Ebay! Sameday, same hour, lol!!

I believe I was talking to owner about if he could fix my 35mm film camera that I purchased online, everything went good, said there s nothing we could do about it. He suggested other cameras that he had at the moment. Me not knowing much about cameras especially vintage ones i started to ask multiple questions. I don t know if its just how he talks but he answered mostly every question sarcastically & he just sounded annoyed and like he s too busy for me (he was sitting behind desk sorting/fixing cameras). I genuinely support small businesses and the place looked sick, but I just wish the service was better.

Im so glad I finally stopped in here. I was apprehensive after condescending and cold experiences at my other closest film photography store, but this couldnt have been more different. The owner is quiet but kind and friendly, and will help you out if you have any questions or just let you browse to your hearts content, which you will want to since the shop feels like entering a museum of photography history (where you can buy the exhibits). Its also fantastic to have a place willing to buy back gear- you may not make as much as listing and selling it yourself on eBay, but a physical storefront dedicated to just 35mm photography is a rare thing, and its nice to know that if you end up not clicking with a camera it could find a home here.

I came in with what I thought was a long-lasting, unfixable problem. My camera had its lens dented, and I thought I would have to buy a completely new one. I kid you not, I walk in, explain my problem, hand the man behind the counter the camera, and he fixes it in front of my eyes like its no big deal. Took him what felt like less than 5 minutes!! Truly incredible work! He knows what hes doing and does it VERY GOOD! Not only that, but it was also very affordable and great service!

Came in as a complete newbie today, just had a basic idea of what I wanted; a 35mm point and shoot camera for my trip to Montana. The owner really hooked me up with this badass German-made Rollei. It had half a roll of film with it, and he even threw in a little carrying case for it. The price was more than fair considering his expertise, willingness to help, and graciousness. Im very excited and will be taking my film back to him to develop for the foreseeable future.

Service was horrible. I took film to get developed and they never told me they develop it digitally, nor that they only did B&W. So when I came to pick up my photos I was expected them printed(as normal) but they handed me a disc with my films. I told them this was never explained when I dropped them off. The staff member just told me, sometimes that happens. as the staff member who I dropped off the things to was hiding in the corner. I was not able to review my photos before I purchased them due to them being digital, or else I would have noticed they came out really blue due to them using the B&W process and not the correct process with Color film. I will admit, they had great photography stuff, but they need to improve service, respectfulness, and explaining things. They also keep all the photos on their laptop, which I was uncomfortable with.

Denton Camera Exchange is an actual haven in Denton for camera needs! Walking into the store and being able to just talk to Armand about troubles Im experiencing with my DSLR is so much more accessible than going to a store that may even charge me for just a consultation. I was having trouble with my camera not picking up audio from the external mic I was plugging in. I googled it, asked video friends, even went to geek squad at Best Buy and everyone kept telling me there must be something wrong with the camera and left me with no solution. After hours of searching stores and online for help, I went to DCE and Armand said he would scope the internet and tinker with it overnight. Especially being on deadline for work, I was desperate! Not even two hours later he sends me a message saying he figure it out. I picked it up in the morning, tested it and was so gracious. Denton Camera Exchange is truly a lifesaver. Trust me when I say before you go to an expensive repair shop, take your camera to Denton Camera Exchange because Armands will to help you out will save you so much money.

Im glad Denton has a camera shop (support local!), but theyre just okay. Took film there to get developed and scanned, and I was told 2-3 weeks for it to be finished up and I would get a text. I wasnt in a rush, so no problem. A month goes by and no update, so I go to check up on the process; still not scanned. They scanned it for me that day though, which I appreciated. The scans were not the best. Got them on a CD and theyre subpar JPGs, which is fine if youre just into some quick and dirty scans. If you really care about the quality of your scans, I would find somewhere else to get them scanned or scan them yourself. Also, I got the negatives back, which was cool. Not sure how I feel about the place, nothing is spectacular about it and nothing is inherently wrong with it. Its definitely worth checking out if youre a camera nerd since theres TONS of cameras and lenses. But I wouldnt go in expecting too much.

I came in one day to buy some 35mm film, but found the only employee sitting behind the main desk on his phone. He didnt even look up, nor did he greet me when I said hello. When I finally asked about the film he was condescending and made it seem as if they barely dealt in film. During the entire experience he did not even move from his chair to show me where the film was, rather he looked up and nodded in the direction of it just before putting his nose right back into his phone. Terrible experience. For a shop that is so niche, its truly unnerving to have such an awful experience and such little help for someone just beginning the hobby. I will never shop here again, as there was already such little keeping me away from buying online.

I proceeded to walk around the store for another 10 minutes giving him an opportunity to end the phone call or simply acknowledge that I was a customer in his store waiting to be helped . I then stood at the counter for another 5 minutes an listen as he continued to talk on the phone. Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced, I never write reviews but his inability to simply acknowledge me was outrageously rude.

I called to confirm that they developed film at their store. The guy responds with sort of a grunt, not signifying a confirmation nor denial. I respond by asking if he could clarify what that sound he made meant, and then he responds with a half-hearted yeah. I then go on to ask him the estimated time for the completion of the development, and he once again answers as if he doesn t care whether he gets my service or not. He says, eh, I don t know. I m working on [a back log of film] so maybe about a week or two . . . . Keep in mind that the tone of his voice mixed with his lazy wording is what gave me this impression. I mean, come on. If you re going to provide a service at least pretend like you care. Why would I support a local business that shows no signs of pride or concern for their potential customers? Unfortunately, I don t know many store in the area that develops film. But I refuse to give my money to a person who doesn t care about, well, anything it seems.

Wanting to support a local camera shop, I dropped off my one roll of film to be developed. I was told it would take two weeks, which is a pretty long time for development, but I didnt mind. I stopped by the shop two separate times to check on the progress of development. Both times I was promised It should be done by next week. On one of these visits I brought along a friend who purchased a film camera, which ended up ruining the rolls of film he put through it. Almost two months go by and I finally go to the shop to find out they havent even began to develop my film. I ended up asking for my undeveloped film back. After the horrible customer service and rude comments from the owner of the shop, I wouldnt give this shop a cent of my money again. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to this shop; please make the drive out to one of the handful of reputable camera shops in the DFW.

When I told Arman about it, he got angry and said I should leave. Ive gotten close to the same treatment before when I came for 110 cameras, selling my old cameras, camera bags, batteries, and numerous other things in the past year. The other guy there probably doesnt know whats going on when I ask him questions about the gear, film, or things Im looking for. This place only sells gear that was donated to them, and upcharges film, cameras, lenses, and whatever else they have prices to a point where Id rather buy on eBay or online stores. Its a shame too because I really want to support local, but these guys are not giving me any options as a low income college student shooting photography to vent my stress.

The owner of this establishment is extremely unprofessional and I was verbally attacked during my last visit. Up until my last recent visit, I had encountered only positive results at DCE. When I dropped off some film two months ago, I was informed that it would take a while (he didnt know how long), but that he would call me when it was ready. He took my phone number and I left. I waited patiently, hesitating to call because I didnt want to be a bother if it was not finished yet. Finally, after 2 months, I called and was told it had been ready a while. When I asked why no one had called me, I was given the excuse that they were busy and didnt get to it. So, when I went it, I mentioned it calmly again, during which time Armand proceeded to get angry very quickly, yell at me, and call me sweetheart sarcastically and tell me not to tell him how to run his business when all I did was say that it would have been nice if someone had called me when that was what I was told would happen. When I finally gave up the argument (I had not yet raised my voice) he continued verbally harassing me until I informed him that he was the only one talking anymore. This establishment is run very unprofessionally, and the owners are very disrespectful towards their Customers.
