Deep Ellum has a rich history of blues. Blues alley is a stunning mural that pays homage to all the great artists that played here and many who were influential in the blues genre. The mural begins at Henry St with Blind Lemon Jefferson (one of the first Dallas bluesmen to gain notoriety in the early 1920s - consided the father of Texas blues - who was often found playing on the streets of Deep Ellum) and works its way through Dallas icons like Freddy King and the Vaughan Brothers while also pulling in other non-Dallasites who were big influences like Jimi Hendrix. The mural ends at Malcolm X. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Deep Ellum.
