This place was a ton of fun. It was great seeing both talented and not so talented folks get on stage to sing their hearts out. I was too chicken to do it, and most certainly would have been 86 d. My friend and I showed up in the last hour or so before the karaoke stopped and we shut that place down. Everyone was sitting down afterwards, but there was great music playing, so I got everyone up and dancing. It was definitely the highlight of my trip to Austin and would absolutely go back.

The absolute best bar on Rainey! I was there with my friend for a small bachelorette party and we tried just about every spot on Rainey and came back to Augustine every time. Drinks are amazing, try the Bat City Baddie I swear you wont regret it, and the atmosphere is so fun! It was a beautiful night in Austin both nights we were in town and the outside area was so fun. There was even a dog there! Super friendly staff, and I never felt uneasy even being 2 girls in a new city!

Great espresso martini and very skilled/fun/friendly bartenders & staff. And they pump out bubbles at the entrance. Three areas to chose from to hang out (people watching on the front patio, indoors, or out back with the stage and more outdoor seating). Perfect stop on Rainey St.

The frozen margarita was horrible. The color was light and so was the taste. No real margarita flavor. Just rubbing alcohol flavor. My wifes summer sling was 90% ice. Waste of money, do yourself a favor and just drink a beer. Atmosphere was fine on the patio in from, but no seating because of the Thursday night football game.

Drove in Saturday to celebrate a friends bachelorette party on Rainey and this spot was the one for us. The drinks were great and worth the price, the back area was setup with games and a dj that kept us going. I liked that he was interacting with the crowd and giving the spotlight to the ones celebrating. The cool part was requesting a song and getting this response. sure but can I remix it my way. WOW! is all I can say and it was impressive hearing him mix songs you would never think sound good together. Great job Wizard!

Great place to go for a more mellow Rainy Street experience. The DJ was excellent, and played a great mix of favorites. Drinks were fantastic, and the bartender was super knowledgeable. The outdoor seating was clean and the games around the area were fun and kept us entertained while drinking.

We went here on a Tuesday around 5:30 and it was pretty dead, but we were kind of expecting it. Im sure things really pick up in the evenings and on the weekends. It seems like a really nice bar with a cool setup indoors and outdoors. They have good drink specials, although one was not available. The drinks are tasty and the bartender was nice. Id recommend this place again.

Stopped here with a bridal party and the bartender was extremely rude. He bragged behind the counter saying how easy it was to make money on groups like this, and overcharged me. Already annoyed by the comments he made, I paid my tab and left no tip, for obvious reasons. On top of that, he took it upon himself to tip himself on my tab.

This place stopped us from entering because we had a six week old baby with us. Said she couldn t enter because it was 21 and up, like they were afraid of her drinking underage. When I expressed my disappointment the bouncer then told me not to be a douche about it and don t bring a baby to a street with bars. Other places on the street also turned us away but we re respectful about it. I m just asking for decency and not to be treated like I have leprosy because I have a baby with me.

EDIT TO REVIEW: Im editing this review from the one I posted last weekend. Instead of 0 stars, I think this place actually deserves the 1 star for reasons I will state later. My friends and I were visiting from out of town and were looking for a fun night out. Augustine was the second stop of our night. The area right outside the indoor bar was really cute -- there was a telephone booth to take pictures with and several groups of people chilling outside. When we entered the main indoor bar, we were surprised at how empty the place was (mind you, this was around 1 am on a Saturday night). It was just our group and a couple sitting down in the corner. There was so much room from the lack of people that we could probably do cartwheels in that bar. My friends were dancing and having a good time and started pointing (in the air btw, not with their actual fingers) at some of the cocktails on the chalkboard drink menu. The female bartender probably assumed that we were smearing their chalkboard work from where she was standing, but instead of kindly asking us not to touch the wall menu or maybe even stepping a bit forward to examine if the wall menu was actually being destroyed, she came out from behind the bar and very rudely ordered us to back off with her hands flailing at us. The other male bartender joined in with her and my friends reacted how anyone would when someone barks at them like that unexpectedly. Needless to say, we left the bar immediately and went to another bar on Rainey Street that had a better vibe. Later that night, we passed by Augustine again, but this time the manager was there. We approached him to explain what happened and how rudely we were mistreated over something so small. He was very professional and polite and offered to meet at a later time over lunch to try to see what he can do to help us change our minds about his establishment. We pointed out the bartenders who were at fault and he assured us that he will do better on behalf of Augustine. We unfortunately did not have the time to meet with the manager as we were all leaving town the following day. Unless the staff here gets some remediation for their actions last weekend, I wouldnt recommend this bar to anyone. There are plenty of other bars on Rainey Street that will treat you with respect, and thankfully our night out was not completely ruined thanks to the plethora of other bars and food joints on Rainey Street. Looking back at other negative reviews posted before last weekend, I can see that the rude bartenders at this joint are nothing new. I would like to add that I find it so interesting that six 5-star reviews popped up for this place all on the same day 7/16/19 with several reviewers going out of their way to mention Jacqueline, the same female bartender who lashed out my friends last weekend. Hmm. Coincidence much? Ill let you decide.

Although I miss The Blackheart, Augustine has done a really great job of utilizing the space. Theyve made the building much more breathable. Theres plenty of space around the inside bar and the outside bar has a full selection. Staff was very friendly and hospitable. Would like to see a greater selection of liquor in the near future. Will definitely come back though!

I went there for happy hour which was $2 off Native Texas Drafts. I order a couple Karbach Weekend Warriors since they were what I assumed Native Texan Drafts. Bill comes up $18, I kindly ask if theyre usually $11 per draft -- Bartender responds in a very annoyed fashion saying theyre always that price. He then explains that theres a draft called Native Texas Pilsner. I laugh and say ahh thats confusing. Bartender continues to be smug af. $9 pours that other bars charge $3-5 for. Crazy overpriced I asked for a menu for prices, he says they dont have one. Id never advise going here to anyone, not even my enemies.

Worst customer service ever... the bartender forgot to pour my drinks and charged me for it. When I complained, the bartender said lets check the cameras. When I agreed, the manager stepped in and said were not checking cameras. I asked for a refund and he pretended to refund my bill, but simply printed a copy of the bill with a $0 balance, and he told me never to come back to his establishment. Awful.
