I went to this location 7/30/24 and ordered two four piece catfish dinners. After ordering I went to the webpage and saw numerous of people saying they are falsely adverting Swai as Catfish. I went to the owner with my concerns and he looked me dead in the eyes and told me that the fish would be catfish. They were not catfish and they did not want to refund the money back, even though they false advertised it as something else.

One star because JJs is serving Swai/Basa CATFISH a Vietnamese fish. Theres a huge difference between flavor, texture and price. Swai /Basa is a white fish imported from Vietnam. Swai/Basa has been found to breach standards for drug residues and to contain potentially pathogenic bacteria. Swai/Basa has a mild flavor and firm texture. The meat looks mushy, taste mushier and does not have the stringy meat that catfish does. North American Catfish is fluffier and has several ridges in the meat when fried. Swai/Basa is popular due to its low cost and wide availability. The grocery store sells a huge bag of Swai/Basa Vietnamese CATFISH for the same price as JJs 3 piece catfish dinner. Yes, its shady they overcharge for cheap fish and bad business not to disclose the type of catfish to customers. Technically, JJs is selling catfish just not American Catfish .

I am so disappointed, I went into the lobby and ordered a 3 piece CATFISH FILLET plate with fries and to my surprise when I bit into a piece of fish I discovered that they had served me SWAI instead of what I asked, paid for and what their menu stated I was ordering. To lie to your customers like that is disgusting just like this food I was served today. I won t be going back. They don t serve real catfish!!!

I didnt take any pictures, but I do have genuine compliments to share! Ive only been to JJs once but my experience is unforgettable. I literally drove from Garland to South Dallas just to try their food. Once I got there I ordered the catfish nuggets with fries and fried okra. There was bit of wait, but that was due to how busy they were. Regardless of the wait, the staff was friendly and my food came out in a timely manner. But most importantly, my food was so good. Every single bite was flavorful and crispy, and they gave me so much. I was very full and happy. Im looking forward to going back and trying more!

The food was horrible, they changed the catfish fillets to some terrible water base fish. After it s cooked, it crumbles and no flaky white fish inside! I m very dissatisfied with this location, I paid $17 for such bad food, and I showed the guy and he didn t offer to satisfy, but defended that fact they changed the fillet couple years ago! That a lie, because I had them 9 months ago and it was wonderful! Economy is starting to purchase cheap products with higher prices!

The shrimp here were absolutely huge and so good! At first, i thought they were butterflied cut shrimp, because theyre so huge! Some of the best Shrimp that Ive ever had. On another tone/note, aka the only con, was the food Took about 20 minutes for mine and my fathers food to come out. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Friendly service, but the catfish was what I refer to as imitation catfish, which was Swai or Basa fish, which has a completely different texture. There was no indication that they were serving this type of fish, and I found out AFTER arriving home to eat. While the restaurant, I noticed other patrons were picking up or ordering the jumbo shrimp dinner, so it must be JJs signature dish. Between myself and family, we spent over $80. Well JJs was really good and delightful I hate French fries she wouldnt exchange for maybe something else like maybe some onion rings well onion rings dont cause that much just to work with your customers I probably wont come back the fish whole catfish dinner was overcooked the catfish was small two little catfish and he overcooked it so much I thought I was eating chips the order was incorrect when I got it they left out the fries since she wouldnt alternate them for something else yall need to get a new cook thats what you need to do because he overcooks that catfish to me I I think Ill go back to my little hole in the wall WBS catfish on Polk Street try that people next to the snow cone place and dairy Queen check them out he doesnt overcook his fish

I ordered 6 steaks and 3 fried green tomatoes. My entire order was over cooked out of the 6 there was one piece I could actually taste The friend green tomatoes were over fried and sliced way too thinly I couldn t taste the friend green tomatoes. Whoever cooked it knew when they pulled it out it was over cooked.

UPDATE: Just went to jjs for lunch. When I say things have changed, I have never had fish fillets so thin, they have figured out how to fillet the fillets. Fish chips is what they boiled down to. The hot wing where the smallest pcs of chicken I have seen yet. I didnt know they could be so bitty. Prices every where have gone up, but you at least want what you pay for. The below review is of a past JJs. The food is always good and hot. The prices are great, servings are always huge. Service is welcoming.
