One star because the staff is rude as hell ! They had it decorated so beautifully for Halloween and being that i was visiting on a girl trip , i asked the guy in the front at the reception desk to take a picture of me & my party in front of the Halloween decor and he rudely told me no . Being that Dallas is a tourist spot , you would think that receptionist would ve been a bit more friendly . I was gonna do a TikTok on the place because the food was delicious but that means nothing when staff is BULLSHIT !

I ordered the blackened salmon with crawfish cream sauce with yams and smothered green beans. The salmon (and plate) were not hot and it came out without the crawfish cream sauce so they had to bring it out separately. It was just okay. Maybe it would have been more than okay if it was hot and came out how I ordered it? The yams and smothered green beans were hot and they were decent. The drinks were good. We had The French Kiss . Also, it was Monday night- 1/2 off of all alcohol (except wine and beer, I think). The waitress was nice. I think her name was Pinky. I also wish they had better parking, like an actual parking lot instead of having to park on the street. I would go back for drinks only and the vibes. I would pass on the food.

The gentleman serving us was really really sweet we sat at the bar. The atmosphere is really giving! The food was good but very very small portions! One of us got oxtails tacos they were good but only two served like who only eats 2 tacos lol. I got firecracker shrimp they were good but I came here for the crab fingers and I guess I came after wrong time hey only serve at certain times.

The only complaint I have onthisbplace was it was like going into a meat freezer.. very cold, and they werent willing to drop the temp cause they advised it would soon be warm... Lemon Drop Maryini was top notch, and my meal was delicious... Girls meet up was good. Would go back of it werent so cold. Parking: Parking was limited, and we had to move before a certain time or risk being towed. But security alerted us and was very friendly on that night. Theres a club nearby that utilizes the parking after 9:30 PM.

Waiting out side as I speak at 5:06 and the doors are still not open but in there defense we where at the wrong door. That being said either I over looked that or it s not there. It was a little confusing. Moving on to the food, the wait is definitely long for what we order. The appetizer was great, but it was a literal fight with the gnats. They wanted to eat with us (brought the family with them too) scary! Next, the music is good, awesome actually! My cousin and I don t get off to a good start but the team/manager went beyond to keep us satisfied. All I want to say is get it to go because it is good but gnats with all that said, the music is great and the lamb chops where awesome just so you also know, it cost to reserve not too much and they also add their own gratuity. IT WAS INTERESTING AND NICE AT THE SAME TIME!

The service here is trash! All the girls have an attitude and they d rather be in the men s face 24/7. I took my gf there for her bday and we were told we had to make a reservation for a table. So I went and talked to somebody and we finally got a booth once all the reservations were done. And when we got the booth not one waitress came over to take our order. Only person who was nice was the hookah girl. Get better girls who wanna work and that have no attitude and this place would be solid. Until then this place is garbage. It really deserves no stars.

Went here to get a great experience and it was horrible. Me and my boyfriend were seated, we were brought water after sitting there 15 minutes, it took another 15 minutes before someone even came to greet us to take our drink orders. We ordered our drinks, the waitress then took our order. We had gotten over sitting so long without service but then while waiting on our food a hostess came to tell us we can sit at the bar because there was a reservation for our table, and had an attitude while saying so. I don t understand why we would be seated at a table with a reservation in the first place. It would have been good to accommodate us WITHOUT an attitude and in a more courteous manner. So I politely asked for the ticket, we cashed out and told them to cancel the food order. Our waitress asked if we wanted the food to go and we refused to pay a dime further after the service we received. Will never visit them again.

The place is definitely a vibe but the communication was trash! The first time we came the pretty light skin girl said we could sit at the bar but the kitchen didn t open til 5, we came back and she didn t specify that walk ins could only sit at the bar and that everything else was reserved! It was a waste of time so we didn t try the food but if you want to go to get the full experience make sure you reserve a table.

Dont believe the hype from social media pics/videos (as I did). Read reviews from the REAL customers. THIS PLACE IS TRASH!! From the poor service, to overpriced food, to food quantity AND quality. Despite some negative reviews, I decided to give this place a try for myself, as the food looked amazingly delicious. Randomly dropped in on a Tuesday for happy hour. Lets just say.. this place gives the feeling of someone investing in a resturant business who then hired all his/her young family members. To begin, I was greeted by a thin build, light skinned, young aged lady w/glasses who stated her name as Jasmine, representing herself as one of the managers (upon being asked for someone else who could assist me in a more mature manner). As her attitude & condescending responses to my questions regarding the resturant was enough to make me want to walk away the moment I stepped in. In regards to DRESS CODE, I was informed that my crocs were not allowed (remind you it was a Tuesday, happy hour so wasnt expecting a dress code). Being a bit confused, as the appearance of this place gives far less than an upscale vibe. Not to mention a few of the female customers who walked in with thong sandals (slides) shoes and cheeky shorts. Of course I was a bit disappointed after fighting thru the congested traffic on the back roads of 8th & Corinth streets to finally arrive, just to be denied entrance. But hey, their rules are their rules and I can only respect that. So I kindly asked Jasmine why their dress code attire was NOT reflected on their website, as most resturants do when attempting to maintain a certain type of atmosphere. She responded with well people usually call the restaurant to inquire about the dress code before arriving. While this is true, remind you that the restaurant doesnt open until 5p (which is the start of happy hour that ends at 7p) so getting someone to answer your call beforehand, on the day of is not likely. She then stated well get this info posted on our website. Moving forward, we opted to order food to go instead, since we had taken the time to get there and wanted so badly to try things out. Also because we had a brunch planned here on the following weekend. To begin, the prices were ridiculous. $15 for TWO tacos only w/NO sides. Tacos were greasy w/ small shreds of meat and large clumps of cheese (as pictured). $14 for FOUR deviled eggs and so on. Lamb chops were tasteful & tender though. PLUS the 20% gratuity AND 3% service fee added on a TO GO ORDER.. like what?? Really!! Very LIMITED FREE PARKING near the building, which accordingly to (Jasmine) is usually taken up by restaurant staff. Otherwise, youll have to utilize the paid parking lot and walk up the block to get to the restaurant. Ohh, and lets not forget the two staff members (including a short, male security guard) standing at the front counter going in on full plates of food and distracted with cell phones as customers walked in. The male security guard seemed to be on some sort of power trip as he felt the need to add his two-cents to the sarcastic, short answers that Jasmine was already giving. All in all, Its definitely 2 thumbs down for me. The exact reason why many BOB business fail. You must remain humble and implement better service and professionalism if you want to keep customers returning. After all, it is your customers who determine the success of your business. Needless to say, we cancelled our group brunch plans and chose to take our business elsewhere. A place where we would be more appreciated.

Service is non existent. So dont expect or look for it- they aint got it. We sat for almost 20minutes before our waitress came out. The manager sat at the bar- smoking hookah- unbelievable right? He was more into the girls at the bar than doing his job. Food was cold. Greens overcooked- yams tasted weird. Salmon cold and small portioned for $30. This place has so much potential- but this is the 2nd time weve been here and they consistently FAILED MISERABLY in delivering quality food and service. We wont be back!

I m so tired of these instagram restaurants that are only good for the aesthetics . The service was horrendous! The girl at the front taking orders knew NOTHING nor was she trying to help me & my family get answers regarding drinks & food! She was also more concerned with her phone which is annoying! I asked her if a particular drink was a frozen drink she said she didn t know. Asked her what food was good in the establishment she said she never ate any food there & she didn t know. The restaurant didn t even have change in the register to give me money they owed me. I got a side of yams and greens don t even get me started on the portion sizes!! They gave me enough to feed my infant daughter why 2 sides was $24.67 idk but I gave her $25 & she just closed the register stating they didn t have any change like girl what?! Let move on to the food. Greens were disrespectful & disgusting 2/10. Yams OVERLY sweet! Not sure if they tryna put me in a diabetic coma but those yams lol that ll do it!! 5/10! A group of us recently visited for brunch and had a mixed experience. Starting with the positives, the bartenders were fantastic! The drinks were expertly crafted, tasted amazing, and really elevated the experience. The service was equally impressive our waitress was exceptional, friendly, and made sure everyones orders were spot on. She s definitely a 10/10! The DJ also added a great vibe to the atmosphere, setting the perfect tone for a relaxing brunch. The overall ambiance was lively and enjoyable, making it a fun place to hang out. However, the food was disappointing. The brunch menu lacked flavor and variety, with every side option being grits, which limited the choices. Unfortunately, I wouldnt return for brunch unless the food quality improves. Parking was convenient for us since we found free spots, but I did notice that some guests had to pay for parking. In summary, the drinks, service, and atmosphere were fantastic, but the brunch menu could use a serious revamp. I might come back for drinks, but not for brunch

My sister and I came to Izkina on a Thursday to celebrate her birthday . When you first come in the door (figuring that out is a fiasco in itself, but thats not what this is about) youre greeted with a girl and a guy looking down at their phone, only to look up with no smile as if youre irritating them and theyre doing you a favor by allowing you to enter & dine at this establishment. Theres not much to say about the food this review is more so on the customer service or the lack thereof. Most of the dishes we tried were actually good. My only complaints would be they ran out of the crab fingers 2 hours after opening and the salmon deviled eggs were nothing like the pictures shown; the morsel of salmon that was placed on top of the deviled egg was barely enough to taste and my catfish was a bit tough in the middle and should have been cooked longer. However, the voudin balls, mac and cheese, and red beans and rice were really good. Its clear their target audience is merely satisfied with R&B music blasting, photo-ops, and hookah accompanying their meal. However, these upscale soulfood restaurants around the metroplex come a dime a dozen and its only a matter of time before this one will be lost in the rotation just like the many that have come and gone. UNLESS they become the standard and do something different other than whats been done before, starting with customer service. In addition, the guy that does hookah pretty much begs for a blessing aka a tip if you purchase hookah from him via cashapp or cash only. Lastly, our waitress eventually warmed up, although she wasnt attentive during the duration of our visit (considering she had already received her tip). A 20% gratuity is added for any party of two and up. As I stated previously, the food was actually good, but its not anything out of the ordinary if youve had soul food before. The ladies restroom was not even stocked with paper towels to dry your hands; this is unacceptable. And while Im sure their goal is not to become a Michelin star restaurant, at the very least making their patrons feel welcomed and appreciated should always be ranked high on the list.

This is a hidden Speakeasy Gem . The customer service was Amazing. When I tell you this place is a vibe! The music is awesome and not too loud where you have to yell to have a conversation. I sat at the bar along with my sister and we ordered the boudin balls, salmon deviled eggs, chicken Mardi Gras pasta, greens, and yams. The food was the right temperature and sooo..good. I also ordered the Frozen Uberita which has a limit of 1. Yall, I have never been defeated by a drink, but this one did. It was yummy & DELICIOUS but I COULD NOT finish it. This may have been my first visit to Izkina but it definitely wont be my last.

Last night was a mess. Made a reservation a week in advance for my husband s birthday, and when we showed up on time, they claimed they were booked and told us to wait at the bar. Drinks? Straight water. After 30 minutes, I asked the bartender what s going on, and she said we could sit but had *one minute* to order. Like, what? We finally get seated, and the waitress who was also the host tried to take our order, but we already told the bartender. She then basically ghosted us. Anytime I tried to get her attention, she straight-up ignored me and said to ask the bartender for anything. Food? Trash. I got the Mardi Gras pasta that tasted burnt, and my husband had catfish. The fish was okay, but the mac n cheese was mid. And don t even get me started on them trying to pass off pinto beans as red beans baby, I m from New Orleans, don t play with me like that. TikTok reviews were straight lying. The vibe? Also meh. I thought this was an upscale spot, but folks looked like they just rolled out of bed. All in all, it was ghetto and not worth my time. The Food was terrible,greens were spicy drowned in hot sauce, turkey meat chewing over cooked. Also sweet potatoes were from can. We had 7 people for a birthday party with reservations but were asked us to leave at 7pm for another reservation . Our other guest were late we started at 5:30, but they didnt have a crowd . 7/20/24 Decided to try this with a group of girlfriends. It was not worth it. The wait time for our food was more 30 minutes. Out of all 6 of us only 3 plates came out fresh. I mentioned it to the waiter and she told me if she was to send the plate back it will take even longer for it to come out. Food: 3/10 it was okay but it was not fresh at all. Some of us didn t eat, some did eat , and some had taken the food home to fix up and warm up. Atmosphere: 3/10 it s okay. I mean I expected more from pictures and the name. If you are going to eat, I recommend a high table. Sitting at the booth, the tables are shorter which you will need to bend in order to eat. Service: 2/10 I was skipped over during the wait when I mentioned that the other people in my party was already there. The waiter was good. She would come over and check on us.

The service was terrible! Every waitress had an attitude, and honestly, it felt like all the entire staff were all rude and didn t want to be there. The food was mediocre, I was the only one in my group who actually thought my meal was decent (blackened catfish, greens and yams)The tables in the booths sit low, which is the lounge vibe theme they have. The floors were dirty and the outside of the building looked sketchy. There is a dj so music was is loud so keep that in mind, hard to hear when ordering or talking but he had a great playlist and was the best part of the evening. Parking is bad. TikTok definitely overhyped this place. The staff alone will be what brings this establishment down.

First off, Kim our waitress was great! She made everything right with the issues we had. Three of us got blackened catfish and they were all undercooked in the middle. Raw fish. The only side I got that was good was the mac and cheese. The green beans were cold. As I said, Kim did make it right and let us get something else in place, which was chicken tenders. They were okay. The drinks were good though. Just know they turn into a night vibe at a certain point and won t let you wait in the lobby area for a Lyft at that point. I won t be returning.

I came here for a birthday dinner during the week on a Tuesday. I asked for Red fish and server walked away, to come back 20 minutes later to tell me they were out of that fish. So I ordered catfish instead. It was more like a catfish strip because it was the smallest piece of fish Id ever seen. I was suppose to get a crawfish sauce over the top and that didnt come out. When I finally got it 20 additional minutes later it was NOT hot and my fish was cold. Server lady was nice but the kitchen staff needs to do way better on portion sizes if you are going to charge over $30 for an entrée. I will never visit again. Visit at your own risk.

Nice atmosphere terrible service, if I m paying an automatic gratuity of 23% total I believe that waiting 45 min for a drink when it was basically empty is ridiculous. I ve worked in the industry since I was 16 and this was not worth it at all for the price. I even saw people sitting at the bar and not receive service, they decided to just up and leave. On top of that service was extremely slow, even when checking out the server disappeared for 20 min before returning or cards. 0/10 wouldn t recommend.

Izkina is a nice place to come and visit. The customer service was top tier, the drinks strong, and the food AMAZING (although I wasn t a huge fan of the dipping sauce that comes with the oxtail tacos). Make sure you call ahead to make a reservation so you can be seated, and it s not kid friendly (alcohol & hookah), so please don t bring your little ones.

Disappointed and Deceived! NOT FINE DINING I recently dined at IzKina and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the menu and prices suggested an upscale dining experience, the reality was far from it. To start, the service was incredibly disappointing. We waited far too long for our appetizer and drinks, even though the restaurant wasnt particularly busy. Our server seemed disinterested. The lack of attentiveness and professionalism was a stark contrast to what one would expect from a restaurant charging premium prices. Speaking of prices, they simply do not match the ambience or quality of the experience. The decor felt dated and out of place for a restaurant positioning itself as high-end. The dishes were chipped and dilapidated, lacking both the presentation and flavor that would justify the cost. I could not shake the feeling that I had been hoodwinked, bamboozled, and led astray by the restaurants facade. The drinks are horrible! I truly mean horrible. Lemon drop martini more like lemonade with a splash of vodka. In conclusion, Izkina needs significant improvements in both service and overall quality to ensure sophistication. Until then, I cannot recommend it, especially at its current price point it s giving sports bar and not fine dining. Do better!!!

We have been looking for an adult atmospheres for a cute, but simple date night. We came on a Tuesday and ordered from the 2 for $60. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, catfish plate and peach cobbler. No picture of the shrimp, we ate them so fast, they were so delicious. The mac & cheese was ok. The greens were on point, they had plenty of meat they were seasoned and left us wanting more. Yams were delicious. The catfish was great, seasoned really well. The only thing we needed was cornbread. I didn t like the soft crust on the peach cobble. The waitress was amazing, the best customers I have experienced in a while. The DJ was amazing the music and blends were perfect. I didn t like the 20% that was automatically added to the bill. All in all our date night was just under $100 and I will say it was money well spent.

She proceeded to engage in inappropriate, exotic dancing as if we were at a strip club. Disturbingly, none of the staff addressed her behavior; instead, they laughed as though it were acceptable. Moreover, our waitress openly expressed her dissatisfaction with the food, mentioning how frequently it is sent back by other customers. This, coupled with the unprofessional atmosphere, created an overall distasteful vibe. We left before receiving food. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Izkina to anyone. A nice lounge in downtown dallas but the customer service training was definitely missed here. I came in here due to a suggestion from a new friend who brought me and my girls here. We entered establishment and were welcomed by hostess at booth showing us where to go to enter main lounge area. We sat at an empty booths looking forward to enjoying our time there. Minutes later, a server came towards us stating the booths were reserved and you must go online to reserve them. The booth we sat at had no reserved signage on it as a few other booths also. I tried to reserve booths online but was having trouble doing it. I decided to go to hostess at front to ask if a manager could assist us in case someone canceled reservations. The hostess simply told me that you must reserve booth online and there is nothing she could do. When I asked to speak to a manager, a African American gentleman stated he was one of the managers and there is nothing that can be done. Simply go online to book booth. When I asked his name he said he wont give it to me and simply either go in bar area or reserve booth if available. He was very rude, not engaging at all. He simply showed no interest in assisting us. The hostess was just as rude. Being a member of the National Press Club of Washington DC and a Black Card member, I look for great places to enjoy, spend money and tell others about in my reviews and written articles. I will simply say this isnt the place to spend ANY of your money. They have no skilled customer service, no customer engagement and simply dont care about the customer. They were also playing on their smart phones more so then trying to assist anyone. I will actually take the time to write a news article on this as I want to inform everyone of the lounge not to go to EVER!!! The manager was at the front entrance by hostess desk on Saturday at around 5:30pm to 6:00pm in case the owner wants to discover who he was that misrepresented his club establishment and made me decide to write this negative review. Especially in this economic times of finance, you should never treat a customer like this who has the ability to determine where to spend your money. I left without spending any money from my black card and went to Saaya instead who treated me with amazing customer service and customer engagement. I highly suggest you go to SAAYA instead and never go here to spend your money. All they care about is money and nothing more. You know I take pride in writing thorough reviews and informing others where to enjoy themselves while spending their hard earned money. Do not ever consider this place for anything. Trust me as it will only be a negative experience.

The reviews on this place must be paid cause it was . I ordered the oxtail plate ($38), with yams and greens as the sides, with a watermelon lemon drop ($8). There was literally ZERO liquor (tasted like juice). They ox tails were supposed to be red wine braised, but they looked like they had cream of mushroom on them. And they had the audacity to give me 4 pieces.....4 and ALL of them had alot of fat on them. The greens tasted wild/gamey, and the sweet potatoes had great flavor. They charge gratuity AND a 3% service charge on top of that . My friend got the lamb chops (glazed), same sides, and added mac n cheese. The mac n cheese has NO FLAVOR or SEASONING. Its cheesy on top but literally thats it. Chops were good. To top it off, the bartender didnt check on us ONE time. We had to tell him we were ready after 20 minutes of him just looking at us and running his mouth with 1 of the waitresses. Maybe service is better when youre at a booth or hightop . Pictures are cute on IG, swings are cute upon entry, but VENI VEDI VICI......I NEVER have to return and I do not recommend.

Izkina is a good chill spot for a night out or quiet date. Love the set up inside, great for photos. The food was enjoyable. We went on Tuesdays, with $4 lamb. They were super tiny and quite over seasoned but we still enjoyed them. The collard greens and Mac & cheese were sooo good. My only complaints are one: the parking. I m not sure where it was, because the side street situation was quite weird. Also two: not that it mattered in the end but the reservation system said they were all booked up until tomorrow. So we were surprised to realize it was only two other people there. So don t let that system discourage you from coming, cause more than likely they are empty All in all, good times, good food.

Im an event coordinator and ran into Izkina to grab an order of the Salmon Deviled Eggs that my client has placed more than a week in advance. This was for their proposal after party. When I arrived, no one knew what I was talking about. They had totally forgotten about the order, told me it would take 7 mins to get them out. They seemed very irritated that I was irritated. No apologies, no offer for a water while I waited. I was trying to get to the location to finish the event set up. More than 20 minutes later, my order was ready. I grabbed it and ran out.
