Even on trial day, the sense of humor to ease the stressful times, the knowledgeable and professionalism you showed during my time with you was impressive and comforting. I was Mr.Barretts first juvenile client and even when he was finished with my case he would come by my grandmothers house to make sure that we were ok. (Remind You That Were African American) He used to buy me bikes & shoes for Christmas. This dude is so awesome, Im 38 years old now and I would never forget Mr. Barrett. Peter Barrett is not only a fantastic dedicated lawyer he is a compassionate caring man. As soon as I met Peter I knew he was gonna work hard for me. I can get to the personal side where he is a very caring and attentive to his clients, he listens very carefully whether it s lawfully or personal wise which you don t get that just anywhere. I just want to express my absolute and total satisfaction and happiness with the services of attorney Peter Barrett. I had a public defender that told me that the outcome he achieved was not possible, and actually didnt even show up the day I was scheduled to go open plea. So I would be in prison right now, but I hired Peter Barrett, and thank God I did. Not only did he expertly navavigate the legal system, but he genuinely listened to me and didnt treat me like I was just another criminal. Mr. Barrett represented me in 2016 and did an exceptionally well job. I contacted him again in 2020 to initiate an order of non-disclosure with a cost of $1,350 to attempt to remove my convictions from that same case in 2016 from the public eye. Liz at the time his secretary took this 1/2 payment ($2,700 total) and told me that she would get to work on this. She did not. Instead she ducks my calls and leaves me dead in the ice with no response to emails. I then attempt to bring this matter to the attention of Mr. Barrett in which he replies a couple times before leaving me dead in the ice also. I have tried emailing him, calling his assistant Robie, and even sending him a certified letter thru USPS with no avail. It seems as if he has lost his morals as a professional and overall as a person. I work very hard to earn a living for my family and I to be taken advantage like this is unethical in every way imaginable. Please consider this review before hiring Mr. Barrett and his awful staff. Peter represented my brother for 3 aggravated assault w/deadly weapon cases in Dallas County. Peter always reassured us to call any time we needed something. Any day at any time, if you need me, call me. His knowledge of the court system, personnel, and the law reassured us that we had chosen the best attorney. He was able to immediately get the district attorney to offer a 10 year probation sentence even though my brother had a previous criminal record. In the end, my brother chose to do a shorter sentence in TDC and Peter made it happen! 2 years flat, no parole or probation after on 3 cases that initially carried a minimum 5 year sentence for each case! I hired Barrett in August 2017 after terrible mediator Gary Berman filed assault-by-contact charges against me (Berman is a mean bully and yelled at and insult me to get me to settle a case I filed, and I refused, and on the way out I told him what I thought of him and gave him a very light tap by his shoulder as if to say Attaboy, way to ruin the mediation.). Barrett advised me to plead No contest, which was correct, and the judge reduced the fine and it went away. In June 2018 I hired him again to get the record expunged. My main problem with Peter Barrett is he communicates very rarely. He takes your money, and you have no idea what is going on. He is also very unpleasant, short tempered, and rude. If you ask him any questions, he gets offended and treats you like dirt. I hired him in June 2018 to expunge the charge, and heard nothing from him for six months. I emailed him in December, and he said the D.A.signed off on this November 27 -why did it take him five months to see the D.A.? He said the judge should sign it in the following 30 days, by 12/27/18, and then the agencies have 30 days to comply, but never gave me an update. I called and checked myself and learned this was done in December. I didnt hear from Barrett until around March 2019, and just got a short letter, not even an email. I am very surprised to see any positive reviews here. I wish I had never hired him. I expect anyone else would be better. The #1-rated firm in DFW is Varghese Summerset in Fort Worth, who I used on a prior expungement, and they are friendly and amazing. I called Varghese one Sunday morning and he picked up and talked to me for quite a while. I thought I needed someone in Dallas - but I didnt, and neither do you. Call Varghese. They have >167 reviews and their average is...5.0. Otherwise you will get treated like dirt by Peter Barrett.

I would never use this guy. I called him to get some advice since my current lawyer is apparently unavailable on weekends for whatever reason. His website mentions a free consultation, and I would have been fully willing to switch lawyers if thats what was needed, but the moment he heard that I dont have money right now, he asked why we were talking and hung up. I was extremely impressed with Mr. Barretts experience as a criminal defense attorney. He was very professional and honest, which I truly appreciated.
