Based on my recent experience with this particular firm. I was treated like a number. I was told one amount but the contract was sent $2,000 over what we discussed. The attorney assigned to my case would ask me the day in court for updates on my case. My attorney secretary was very passive aggressive and not correct on information regarding my case. I wish I knew then what I know now. I have all messages saved for proof!

Hired Mr. Smith for my family members case never reached out to say he was representing the case and didn t even showed up to court the prosecutors had no record of him even being our attorney! I even messaged him to make sure no reply very unprofessional. Thank God the case was dropped basically we just paid for nothing and I m still getting invoices. This firm is dirty. They took our money and then weeks later hadn t even filed a notice with the court to put themselves on file as the attorney on record. They told the public defender they were taking the case over but then didn t notify the court. The court still showed the public defender on record. Then they didn t show up to an important hearing and obviously the public defender didn t show up because they told her that they were taking the case on, so no one showed up in our defense at the hearing they completely just left us stranded and defenseless having to fend for ourself in front of a judge and make legal decisions without counsel. Our case was significantly damaged due to this law firm s neglect. The only thing I can think is that maybe they have taken on too many clients and can t keep things straight and forgot to take important steps like notifying the court in a timely manner or showing up for hearings. Otherwise why would they just not show up let alone notify the court that they were the attorneys in a timely manner after taking a retainer payment?? They were quick to take and process our retainer payment and delivered false hope that they would work hard to protect our case. I m sure they will try to cover their tracks with excuses in a response to this review but just please beware of these people. I do not believe they care about their clients well being. I think they made massive mistakes with the handling of our case and instead of doing the right thing by acknowledging their mistakes and trying to take action to fix it, they chose to ignore phone calls and messages with delayed responses to avoid facing their mistakes. I do not believe they care that their actions or rather their lack of actions effect peoples lives and futures. If you want to rest assured that your hard earned money is going to secure counsel that you can trust to work hard for you, I would suggest you look elsewhere. I just hope others don t have to suffer the trauma this firm caused us.

I was arrested on January 25, 2019 for DWI with portions of the arrest airing on LivePD for millions of viewers a few hours later. Smith & Vinson was the fourth law firm that I hired to pursue a Jury Trial for this case, with the previous two withdrawing. Many attorneys can talk the talk but Smith & Vinson will also walk the walk. It took 1,187 days to get to a Jury Trial but I am sure glad that Brad, Jarrod and their outstanding team were by my side and exceptionally prepared. After the Jury was selected, the first witness was called to the stand and Brad and Jarrod imploded the States case. Moments later, the case was dismissed. I couldnt be any more thankful for Smith & Vinson. Their passion for the law is unmatched. I have my life back and I owe it to them. My attorney (Brad Vinson) from this firm, was able to resolve an older case, that recently popped up during a work background check. He did this long distance, as I live in Boston and the case was out of Austin, TX. It was a matter that I wasnt even aware of, from back in 2006, that had never come up before, in any other background check over the past 14 years? With my job in the balance and time of the essence, he was able to get all aspects of my case dismissed! My manager was informed, documents (of dismissal) were presented, and my job is now secure! Brad was pleasant to work with, and kept me informed throughout the process, which we all can agree, is so very important!... An easy 5 Star rating - well deserved!

Matt Watkins who works for Smith/Vinson was my lawyer for a DWI I had gotten in May 2019. He is very professional and always answered my calls or called me right back when I had question about my case. He always kept me informed on anything new that come up. I caught a DWI charge with a ClassA cdl. Matt done everything in his power to help me out and in the end. He helped me out tremendously. Probation to me sounds better than jail time and a suspended driver license for God knows how long. I highly recommend him if your in a bad pinch and needing someone who s experienced a very affordable. Great job Matt. I truly am greatful.

Updated review**** I thought there was an issue with communication which has been fully resolved after contacting Mr. Vinson. I realized that my expectations for communication was not a failure on the part of Mr. Brad Vinson as he was following the established protocols. I made a mistake as I failed to fully review the contract and didn t understand the communication timeframe. Therefore, I rushed to a negative judgment against Mr. Vinson and gave him a not so favorable review based solely on my perception of the issue. This was a very unfair review towards Mr. Vinson who I now know has been a very successful attorney helping clients with difficult cases for many years in Austin. I strongly encourage you to interview your attorney prior to retention & would highly recommend that you consider Mr. Brad Vinson as I believe he s fair & will consider the needs of his clients first and foremost. I habe nothing to say other than Smith & Vinson a really AWESOME! They did absolutely everything they said they where going to do. And I got around 99% of what I was asking from them. I choose them for 3 reasons. 1. They have awesome reviews. 2. They where about 1/3 the cost of the most other firms wanted. And took payments. 3. The most important thing though was they polite. Extremely kind. They listened to me before giving them a penny! I actually had many attorneys hang up on me, rude as hell, basically just wanted to talk money. I even missed a couple of payments and caught up buto no grief. Jaimie was the best. Anne was awsome, Mr. Smith, Mr. Vincent. For the amount of time I was looking at, 2-10 years for a 3D Felony DWI, Jaimie got it DROPPED to a misdemeanor, NO jail time, a $400 fine, my probation fees cut in half too $30. Man I can probably go on and on but my thumbs hurt! This team could not of made this hellish ordeal any better! THE BEST LAW FIM I HAVE EVER USED. Thanks to all! DWT
