Great place! The BBQ was very good and well priced, actually cheap for Texas. I got the Texas Two Step with brisket and the spicy sausage. The brisket was moist and plentiful and the sausage had just enough heat to burn but not too much to make it overpowering.

The food is always on point! My husband and I usually go for the salmon, brisket, or prairie chicken. They are so delicious and the choice of sides are all yummy as well. We really love the atmosphere as it is so rustic and cozy. They have a nice selection of draft beers, several wines and cocktails to choose from. We love this place and will make it a regular rotation of our restaurants to choose from!

The visit was ok. Setted quickly. Took a while for a server to come to our table. Menu is not customizable, rather rigid. Limted brunch options. Both our orders were wrong but we were too hungry to wait for it to be fixed. Husband said his omelet was flavorful. I ordered a side of the banditos, disappointed had no cheese [cooked out] I hope it wasnt lunch meat chicken wrapped around the jalapeño [looked like it]. No need to return to this restaurant. Parking: Location is on a corner. Was a bit difficult to get out and into traffic with road construction Wheelchair accessibility: Has handicapped parking with ramp by door. Aisles are wide. Restrooms clean and handicaped stall. Door wasnt automatic but not heavy.

WOW what a treat! Stopped in while out on a delivery. The outside is welcoming and clean, when i walked in i was greeted with smiles and the look of glad your here!!! That is something missing in most of restaurants today! This restaurant is precious and comfy! Customer service is TOP NOTCH!!! The mashed potatoes were so good it brought tears to my eyes mannnnn now thats how you do mashed potatoes folks!!! So glad i stopped in! I will DEFINITELY be back when I m out in this area! Thank you all for being a wonderful example of what a REAL restaurant should be like. Keep up the amazing work

Visiting Aubery, TX ,this charming town for the first time was made truly unforgettable by our dining experience at Prairie House. After a four-and-a-half-hour drive, we were welcomed by Brittney G , who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. She led us to a private room where we were treated to an array of delicious appetizers and an abundant feast that exceeded all expectations. The hospitality and care we received made every mile worth it.

I have heard about this place since moving into the area. Finally tried it and wasnt that impressed. Service was good but the food wasnt that impressive. We ordered the brisket queso as an appetizer and it was just ok. It was very bland. We split the chicken fried steak which came out over cooked. It was definitely left in the fryers too long. The mashed potatoes were good but the okra was also over cooked. It wasnt horrible and I probably will go back to try something else but I was not really impressed. I do not recommend the chicken fried steak. Definitely not the what Ive heard from others but not the worst meal Ive ever had.

I did a to go pickup order online, which was quite easy. The issue is the service, the service ensures I will never return and will advise any who asks not to go here. The pickup directions advise you to pick up your order from the left side of the bar. Once I got to the left side of the bar, the bartender (young blonde woman) was extremely rude. She advised me, quite rudely, that I was at the wrong bar and pointed for me to go to the other bar through a door. I get to the other bar, no employees are there and after about 5 mins of waiting, I m advised by customers that that was a private wedding party event in that room. So, I see what looks like the kitchen, so I wait but no one ever exits. It s now been over 10 mins of me wandering around. I end up reluctantly going back to the bar with the rude bartender, I find another worker and advised her of the issue. She advises me she will go find out about my order so I m standing at the bar waiting and the rude bartender, as though my presence is bothering her, advises me to leave from that area ( the bar) and for me to follow where the woman who said she d help me went, it was very embarrassing and It s very clear the bartender does not want me in there, which is insane. Finally, after all the waiting and wandering around, I m advised my food was at the front of the place where no one was working. I have never been treated and embarrassed this way at a business, and that was the meanest bartender I have ever dealt with. I felt uncomfortable the entire time I was there and felt very unwelcome at this establishment. I will never go here again and will advise others not to patronize this establishment.

From start to finish the experience was horrific! The appetizers were cold and the ranch tasted like it was soured and watered down. The brisket queso was watery and had no flavor. Then the meals came ! The chicken was rubbery and smelled weird. The steak was dry and seemed all you could taste was smoke like it was drowned in liquid smoke seasoning! The corn had no moisture at all and was cold! The chicken fried steaks were over fried and tasted burnt! The okra which we asked to be extra crispy was indeed not even warm which leads me to believe NOTHING AT ALL was fresh! I feel like we were served LEFT OVERS or PRW-MADE AND REWARMED food! How you stay in business is beyond my comprehension! We spent ALOT of money and yes we told our server ASH. And he could care less. Also you need to do some major cleaning as there was dust covering all the decorations the white duck in the corner is practically grey now! DO BETTER!

We were in town and excited to eat at Prairie House based on previous experiences. However, it was a big disappointment except for our waitress, Brittney G. I ordered the catfish, side salad, and green beans. The catfish tasted dirty. The side salad was fine, but the ranch dressing was watered down and didnt have much flavor. The green beans didnt have any flavor, probably because they were wilted (cooked too long). My husband had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. He enjoyed his food. Then there was the atmosphere that was uncomfortable. A waitress (not Brittany) came over to me asking what type of car I drove. No introduction or reasoning, just what type of car do you drive. I was taken aback but answered anyway. Then she questioned me, you dont drive a Range Rover?. I replied, No, I dont, I drive a truck. Really! Anyway, she then went to the hostess stand talked with some others then went to another table and did the same thing but explained why she was asking. It was all so strange, but we soon learned it was because a Range Rover was involved in an accident in the parking lot. Needless to say, that set the tone for our dining experience, all before we even got our meal. Then a family came up to the hostess stand to complain about being harassed by another table. One woman was crying, another wasnt satisfied with how the hostess responded so she walked around looking for someone else to address the issue. All of this was going on right in front of us (we sat in the bar at a table right at the entrance). No one took the family to the side to try to deal with the issue. It was a very uncomfortable dining experience on top of the food not being good. We didnt hear or see a manager. The only people that stopped by our table were the two waitresses. The manager should have been checking on tables as common practice. I want to be clear, Brittany, did a great job serving us. She was prompt with taking our order, making sure everything came out correctly, and checking on us throughout the meal. She wasnt aware, as far as I know, that the other waitress had come up to the table regarding the car.

I was in the area and stopped by because I thought this was a BBQ restaurant. Its not, to my surprise; actually, its more than that. Its a little bit of everything Texas in a menu. I recently visited Prairie House, a place I fondly remember from my childhood in the early 2000s when the food was incredibly good. Unfortunately, my recent experience was a major disappointment on multiple fronts. First, the food quality has significantly declined. The dishes were not tasty at all, lacking the flavors and quality I once enjoyed. To add insult to injury, the prices were outrageously high for such mediocre fare, making the entire meal feel like a waste of money. The service was equally disheartening. When we entered, there was no one at the front to greet us. We waited around for 15 minutes until someone finally appeared to seat us. The waitstaff seemed uninterested and disengaged. Our waiter, in particular, gave off the impression that he did not want to be there, which further dampened the dining experience. Overall, Prairie House has lost its charm and quality. The combination of tasteless, overpriced food and poor service has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I hope they can make improvements, but as it stands, I wont be returning anytime soon.

Im not exaggerating when I say I stopped at the CVS across the street after, so I could grab a snack to get the taste out of my mouth and erase this meal from my memory. To start, I was there quite a while before being greeted. The dirty martini I ordered - I swear they used lemon flavored vodka. I just choked it down before the meal got there, so I could move on. No big deal. But then the meal came. I got a Cobb salad with no tomatoes and added burnt ends. There were tomatoes. The burnt ends were definitely reheated and potentially pretty old. Then, once I started prepping my salad and stirring it, a fly crawled out from the center of the salad. It was still alive, but its wings were too saturated to fly away. The drink was awful, the salad was awful. This is the last bad experience we will have here. It has gone severely downhill since covid, unfortunately.

Let me start by saying we visited tonight on a Saturday night. It was not busy by any stretch. It was so not busy the young men seem to be playing a dice game at the bar. My wife and I ordered Frozen Jack & Coke (delicious) and a ranch water (very good). Our server was a nice guy and had a good mix of attention and good attitude. Now on to the food. The white Mac and cheese was a bit soupy and cold which was unfortunate because the flavor wasnt bad. My wife said her chicken fried chicken was no big deal but met reasonable expectations. I had the house speciality $28 Ribeye steak. This was a waste of $30 for this steak. It was very fatty and chewy. Maybe the kitchen isnt use to cooking a steak to medium temp but this was a horrible steak. I had to do the sneak and spit (into a napkin). Overall the bill came out to $75 for mostly ok food and good drinks. Maybe it was a bad night. Try it at your discretion, dont say I didnt tell you. We wont be back.

12 oz ribeye melts in your mouth. Veggies on a stick perfectly cooked. The bbq sampler as appetizer was perfectly proportioned and delicious.. My favorite was the berry cobbler. My husband loved the ice draft beer the big plate of cowboy beans. Service was ok but they are young kids . We travel all over Texas this is a definite stop next time we come through these parts! Title: Beware of Dishonest Staff and Unauthorized Charges at Prairie House Sunday, April 7, 2024 I recently dined at the Prairie House restaurant in Crossroads, Texas and had a very disappointing experience that I feel others should be aware of. My original order total, including a tip, came out to a specific amount that I paid. However, when I checked my bank statement, there was an additional unauthorized charge. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Deana, about this fraudulent charge. Instead of taking responsibility and apologizing, the manager tried to claim that I had actually left a different tip amount, which was not the case as I had the original receipt. Despite my insistence, the manager did not apologize and simply said she would refund the additional unauthorized charge. Its clear the people they are hiring as servers at this restaurant are not honest or truthful. This unauthorized charge was a fraudulent act, and the managers dismissive response was unacceptable. She seemed more intent on defending the server than taking the issue seriously. I would strongly caution anyone dining at the Prairie House to pay very close attention to their receipts and bank statements afterwards. Better yet, I would recommend paying with cash to avoid any potential issues with dishonest staff adding unauthorized charges. This experience has left me with no confidence in the integrity of the employees at this establishment. We returned to this restaurant after many years because we remembered how good it was. We drove 30 minutes to eat lunch. Unfortunately, it wasnt worth the trip. I ordered the lunch special of barbecue chicken and brisket. The chicken was a small chunk of meat that had an unpleasant aftertaste. The brisket was dry and hard like it was left over the day before. My wife ordered the catfish. One fillet was undercooked and still raw inside. The cornbread was rubbery and hard to pull apart. Theres a lot of room for improvement.
