I ordered the prime rib steak with a salad and a baked potato. I also ordered cheese sticks with a sweet tea and they give you a complementary soup which that was actually good. My cheese sticks not so good. My baked potato was amazing my prime rib steak had no flavoring and was drowning in some sort of liquid my salad I did not eat because their ranch did not taste like ranch. It really had no taste to it and whatever it was they give you with their bread sticks they said it was sour cream, their own house blend, which also had no flavor to it so when we go to pay, I told him the only thing I m paying for is my tea, my baked potato and my cheese sticks so then they had a 20% gratitude on there and I said I m sorry I m not paying that. I said my food tasted like crap, I will continue to go to Texas Roadhouse they proceeded to say for the last five years they have been the best steakhouse in Corpus Christi. I do not see how. It took forever to get the food and there was five tables 3 out of those tables already had food would not recommend at all you d be wasting your money on bland food, They tried to tell me it s my taste buds no ma am I know good food when I taste it and I know bad food when I taste it. What a waste of $12 and change. Very disappointing !!! Never again !!!

I ordered the turkey and dressing special plate that they have on Sundays to go. The only good thing I can say about the food is I appreciate the extra dinner roll they gave me but other than that the food was not great to say the least. The turkey was dry, rubbery and had more cartilage/bone than anything else and had no taste. There was very little of the turkey compared to the pound of tasteless, dry cornbread dressing under it. The side of corn and mashed potatoes were okay nothing special. The only thing that had any taste was the side of cranberry sauce which Im more than sure was from a can. Very disappointed especially for almost paying $20 for this one plate. The staff who helped me over the phone and at the counter was helpful and friendly. However, I more than likely never eat anything from this establishment again. Dont waste your time and money on this one. Not worth it.

Unfortunately, I have to be the bearer of bad news with this place. From the moment we walked into this place, the atmosphere and the vibe was way off. Every member of the staff was sitting and very unenthusiastic to assist with the greeting process. We were walked to our table way back in a corner away from the only 2 other tables of patrons in the place. It felt very secluded, very abandoned, and very unappreciated as patrons. The service was slow, inattentive, and the server we had seemed extremely under the influence of narcotics as she could barely enunciate any words and was swaying heavily in effort to keep on her feet and to keep from passing out. The cream that was brought out with the basket of croutons being passed off as dinner bread tasted sour beyond belief. The scallops we were served, were the most horrible looking, smelling, and tasting seafood I have ever had in my life. Anyone who ever visits the Corpus Christi area should AVOID this place at all costs, it is an egregious waste of time and money. I suggest this to persons traveling to the area, because I am QUITE CERTAIN the locals already know and steer clear as noticed by the empty restaurant.

Waitress was high on something she was tweeking on something. Repeatedly returning to our table to ask our order. Then a middled aged man in front by register was yelling at other staff members f bombing repeatedly making sure the whole restaurant heard him. A family with children was also preasant to hear this. I was introducing a friend to your restaurant. After bragging of your New York for 2. The waitress proceeded to say to us the meal only came with 1 salad & 1 potato. When the steak came to table it was not a a New York cut it was flank steak. I was not the only one that noticed another customer was complaining his steak was not the T bone he ordered he was quickly accused of being drunk. The man in apron continued to cuss and even while I was paying for my meal. My friend and I refused to engage. Other staff kept pleading with him to be quiet. I have never been more embarrassed after bragging of the Astor most of the day to my guest. I have been dining there for the past 20 years never experienced that.

Horrible food. Oh my goodness. I have never been so disgusted with a dining experience before. My medium-cooked steak was beyond gross. As soon as the waitress brought our steaks, something smelled putrid & I was the lucky one-it was my steak. I took a bite & it left the most sour taste in my mouth to the back of my throat , I couldn t eat it. I didn t want to send it back but the waitress saw my face with the first bite taken & I told her the truth-it was awful. I didn t want another, I just gave it back. THEN, my mashed potatoes .OMG .were instant potatoes that weren t even mixed. With the first spoonful scooped, all the flakes were exposed. Served faked potatoes and a gosh-awful steak. The waitress couldn t believe they didn t mix my instant potatoes , took them back and never returned to our table. The environment was uncomfortable, either they didn t have the A/C on or it was set on a high temp with fans; however, it was still warm inside the restaurant. NEVER, EVER AGAIN will we go to Astor s. We went bc I heard they served a good steak and recently won an award for them-but there s absolutely no way. That description does not reflect our dining experience at Astor s whatsoever. There s just no way.

Been here many times and noticed each time the card transaction were different from what was stated on receipt but to be charged $166.53 for 1 cattlemans steak dinner was outrageous on the phone with the merchant of the restaurant and the owner in front of me and to be denied my money back because no paper receipts was found even though it shows on the merchant end that its in there account was ridiculous owner still wants to argue that it didnt happen and the merchant stating that it is on there account what should be my next step be careful and watch what they charge on your account its not the same thats in the receipt

Ive eaten there for years its always been good. The last three times I went the steak smelt and tasted rotten and over cooked then the waiter argued that Im just not used to the seasonings there I need to wash the stake and recook it myself if I have a problem with it. We have been eating at The Astor since we moved to Corpus Christi in 1990. We absolutely love their steaks!! We especially love the New York strak for 2 and their calf liver. Also, their Sunday lunch cannot be beat!! Try their turkey and dressing lunch or Virginia ham on Sunday!

My waitress, Britney, was so very attentive. The complimentary soup du jour was cream of chicken, & very good. Next came the large, warm rolls with both margarine & honey cinnamon spread. upon entering we were welcomed with a whiff of something burnt, upon sitting down we were served with what tasted like chicken soup poured from a can as well as brick hard bread slices to go with it (the lady kept resting her whole arm on a persons breast at our table) waiting for our food we witnessed arguing between a customer and worker. they got our order wrong. 3/6 people had sides that were supposed to go with the meals they had, instead they gave them fries (which was money extra to have). 1 person ordered a burger with no mustard but with mayo, when that person spoke up about how they did the exact opposite our server said cant you just scrape it off (extremely unprofessional). we weren t even half way done with our food when we heard our server complain to another about working and wanting us to go home, shortly after he kept pushing us to leave. he gave us to go containers and called us girls baby and sweetie (uncomfortable) on top of this we were EXTREMELY overcharged ($152) after calculating ourselves with the same prices shown inside we calculated it to $100. the food has made everyone s stomach ache. not worth it. the food was mid and the hospitality was non existent. turn away.

After an incident regarding a tip, and being chased down in the parking lot and questioned by employees about whether I left a tip on the table and how much, I called to speak with the manager. The manager s wife said she s filling in and was quite abrupt and rude on the phone. So, not only was I lied about, as well as being called a liar by the lady cleaning tables, I was addressed quite hatefully when I made a phone call regarding the situation. This place has a real charm to it. The smell of the mesquite broiler, the nicely stocked bar, the old school TV antenna and neon sign on the building, and the generations of family that have worked the kitchen. I normally like going here for my steaks but today it just sucked from the food to the service. When we informed the owners wife at the cash register she didnt seem to care. Our waitress failed to keep our drinks filled, didnt bring straws, took forever to get a Togo box. The salads tomato was just a quarter of a tomato the cucumber was so thick and seemed to be going bad. The table they sat us was wobbly and one little bump, the top séemed to want to fall off. The free soup of the day tasted great the chicken fried steak was tough. Maybe the visit would have been better if the service was where it should of been. I usually don t like to give bad reviews, but in this case people should know about how awful the food is being served. My husband order a steak that is supposed to be open flame grilled but it was cooked in a pan. The steak was grey had no seasoning and overcooked. The salads were wilted and had gnats.The green goddess dressing was watery. The waitress brought the croutons and the dip with her finger in it. The soup was cold. The fried okra was as hard as a marbles. The whole experience was awful. This place has really gone downhill. They definitely need new management, cooks and staff. We also had to wait 15 minutes just for the drink order alone.

To be honest the food isnt very good. Came for Christmas and got a steak and asked for medium rare when I got my side salad most of the lettuce was brown , and when I got my steak it was rare as can be . My co worker got the steak as well and his looked like how mine was supposed to look. The steak looked like it had thrown on the grill for 3 secs flipped and then plated. Was going to leave a 2 star but after talking to the owner, it is a 1 star. They purposely cut their sirloin steaks with multiple layers of fat you have you have to cut off to account for weight. I got the 16 oz and half the steak was fat. I understand maybe a little bit of fat to cut off but you had to trim the whole dang thing. It only left you with a few bites of steak. After talking to the owner about it she claimed how that is how it should be cut (which its not, ive had hundreds of steak) she never came over and we had to come to her. She tried defending that garbage and does not give a hoot about fixing the wrong. It is clear that they are trying to serve cuts with a lot of fat to give you less meat. A good owner would be reasonable and would try to fix wrong, however the owner does not care and just wants to be right. Would not kill you to have some morals and good service.

I took my meal To go and had it tested for all know diseases chicken fried steak had fungal bacteria under the breading, and not surprisingly but true on the out parts of the meal we found asbestos from our grilled items, most likely from the walls ceilings or the heater that had lint on the ledges. I will file a complaint to the health department. There is a dated look to the place. It looks like its been there since 1957, which it has. The food is great. The service is exceptional. There was a funky smell that was overpowering the mesquite charcoal grill.

Had my wedding dinner there but I explained to the waitress that I had a death in the family and my number count, and that went down. The waitresses were very respectful and said, don t worry. This is your special day, even though our food orders were cooked wrong and made wrong, we still made the best of it until the manager Mari called to let me know how disappointed she was that I didn t have the amount of people that I had requested seating for. She was very rude very unprofessional. I would never ever recommend anybody to go there because she was so selfish and worried about not sending enough food. And yes, it s true. The food is way over priced and not even worth the polity.

It is the worst place I have ever had to go to eat. It took them 45 minutes to bring us our food. The beans were bad, and they smelled spoiled. I returned to my work without eating anything. and my companions were also not happy with their meals. Like, this place already needs a visit from a health inspector.

We went in a little after 9pm on a Friday. We were seated immediately, our waitress was friendly and very helpful with the menu options. We ordered seafood platter for 4 and it did not disappoint. Tons of food,homemade croutons with green godess dressing,fresh baked rolls with honey butter. Great sweet tea....iykyk.. and to top it off I left with homemade baklava... I could die happy for that alone..chefs kiss We will definitely be back on our next trip to town. Thank you for treating my family like yours.

By far the most disgusting place I have ever eaten. The server was super pushy trying to make us buy alcohol. The old lady who was probably born before sliced bread TOOK my toddlers food from him because she didnt think he should have it and the gave it back after she touched it. GROSS! Also this place doesnt know the difference between rare and well done. I asked for a medium rare steak and it wasnt a bit of red at all. I am extremely disappointed we wasted time, money, and fuel when we could have had a better meal at aby fast food drive through. The ONLY decent part of the meal was the sweet tea which wasnt even that great either.

Went here for mothers day. Empty of costumers the waitress would look at us when we would flag her down and she would just turn around and walk away. We where flagging her down because she never came to our table. The steak was a weird cut of meat full of fat and grisle. They where sweeping the dirty floor towards our table throwing dust and dirt all over the place. I get leopard street is shady but dang even the steak house is junk.

Corned beef was rancid and chewy on my Ruben it litterally smelt rancid. The fries were cold and oily. When I was asked if everything was okay, the server awkwardly spoke over me sweet tea as she refilled the cup and walked off. Why you gonna ask if you dont care how it is? I get it i ordered the nasty sandwich, but if its like that why even ask if its good if theres nothing to be done about whether if its rotted and chewy or not.

First time at this restaurant. The food was not great. Cold steak,( and it wasnt cooked as requested) veggies,and appetizers. Certain requests were forgotten as well. The only thing we enjoyed the most was the bread and butter. Shame. We had high hopes for this place.

Super restaurant in Corpus Christi. Excellent menu. We enjoyed a sea food, steak, chicken meal. House dressing to kill for. Family owned for well over half a century. Outstanding service you will not believe. Others need to learn from them. The only negative(s) background music a bit loud for me and their parking lot is a bit rough. But many of the Corpus businesses are still recovering from that massive hurricane that tore them up.

My husband has taken me out to lunch twice at the Astor, and both times did not disappoint. They serve soup and salad with most meals, and the rolls are so soft and good. So far, Ive tried the French Dip sandwich and the chicken fried chicken. Both were delicious. They just get to be really busy during lunch, and its mostly working men from the area. There is nothing wrong with that, but it does change the atmosphere.

Hadnt been to Astors in about two decades. Enjoyed a couple of margaritas during happy hour. Menu filled with many choices to select from. Chose seafood and it was delicious. Server Omar was excellent and attentive. We had everything we needed to enjoy our meal, which was delicious. Definitely will visit again soon.

My in-laws have eaten here for decades. On last Sundays visit, the steak special (for two or four people) no longer uses the same cut of meat it used to, but a chuck cut which cooks through quicker, making our usual medium rare into medium well. Plus, the waiter spilled steak grease on the table, the floor, and my pants leg as he brought it to our table. The salad greens were old and slightly brown. But, the cream of chicken soup appetizer was excellent! And the owner is nice.
