Food was great. Service was good but could have been better. Atmosphere was simple. Had a party of four adults and one 2 year old child. The bill was questionable because of a $19 charge. I found out it was an added tip for the waitress. That didnt go well with me. I had already left a cash tip on the table. Cashier took the $19 off my bill. Always check your bill before paying. Very disappointed with this shady charge. Will not go back again because of this.

Carpet is worn and torn in some areas. Youre served chips and salsa when you sit down. Salsa is bland. Bar available. Margaritas are ok. Our waitress was friendly. I ordered the chalupas with guacamole. My husband ordered the catfish. Our friend ordered the chicken fajita nachos. They were not that busy, and it took an hour to get our food. We were so hungry by the time our food came, I didnt take pics. The catfish was ok, but my husband said the broccoli was undercooked. Our friends chicken fajita nachos did not have the onions or peppers that youd expect with the term fajita. The chalupas were tostadas and were ok.

My family has always loved poets since I was a kid! For 20+ years they have served some of the best food in Corpus Christi. And Im happy theyre still thriving! The enchiladas, burgers, salads are my absolute favorites. Thank you for all you do!

The saying looks can be deceiving, I have passed this restaurant several times and felt that the location meant it cant be good but in fact it was amazing. Everyone there is so on top of service and the food let me tell ya I plan to go back and try more food. At our table we tried chicken fried steak , enchiladas and onion rings every bite was great to the last.Thank you cause good restaurants are hard to find in corpus but I think I found my new favorite

P.O.E.T.S Corpus Christi Texas Native northern Missouri here. I moved to south Texas in 2012 and miss tenderloins! Someone suggested a little restaurant here in Corpus Christi that I have never been and they did in fact have the amazing sandwich! I would give it an 8/10 ONLY because of 3 things .the breading wasn t what I am used to (I always had the crushed cracker breading), the size of the loin and type of bun was a sweet bun and not toasted. other then that, it was very flavorful and juicy! Would recommend and will be back! But all in all, the restaurant itself gets a full 10/10. They were very busy with a wedding party but everyone still had a great vibe and was super nice and patient!

While the 3 ladies are doing a better job with the ownership, running the place. Sit down dining is better, cleaner. The take out service stinks so so bad. The last three times Ive ordered take out. So so lacking. Fajitas plate with no tortillas, another time ordered coconut cream pie, they gave me chocolate pie (I cant eat choclate) , another incident scanty amount of chicken fajitas were awful. Goodness Im gonna sit out from this place for awhile perhaps they can get it together.

Just Came Here Again To Eat Dinner! Atmosphere was very welcoming and clam. The service was absolutely amazing! The waitresses were energized and loving. You can tell they loved their jobs, and our waiter who helped us was extremely helpful and Loving. Food was absolutely Outstanding. My Grilled Chicken was juicy and every bite was filled with an amazing taste of grilled. Fries were crispy and delicious. My Beef Enchilada was Just like how classic Enchiladas should be made. Sauce was delicious and the meat was perfectly cooked. Tortilla was soft and beautiful. Everything about our Visit tonight was Phenomenal. 10/10 Food, Service, and Atmosphere. Highly, Highly Recommend!!

Place was busy. Glad I made reservations. Had extra parking and an entrance in the rear. Got our drinks immediately. Waiter was on it when our drinks got low, food and anything extra we needed was brought quickly. Plates and empties were picked right away. Definitely recommend going here and will do so regularly.

I go here occasionally. The food is good, the atmosphere is fine, but I always feel rushed with the service when its busy around dinner time. I completely understand, but to let me and my family sit while they sat 2 other families. Then, when I told them what had happened, they persist to tell me theyll get me a table ready, and then they sat another family. As I said, the food is good but with no apology, service that required us to hurry, and the bus boy to help us at times because our server was to busy, it just isnt the experience in looking for. To each their own if you care to wait for the food. May have been a bad night to go or they were short staffed. Whatever the case may be, the food was good.

This restaurant serves a variety of cuisines making it ideal for groups with mixed cravings. I ate here with a group of friends so we were able to view an assortment of plates. I think the restaurant does a pretty decent job to cater to different tastes. My only complaints are related to the pitcher of margaritas and the temperature in the restaurant. The pitcher was was way too sour and sugary. It s possible I just received a bad batch, but I would think twice about opting for the pitcher over the slightly more expensive top shelf individual option. While it was my first time at this restaurant, my friends had been here a number of times and said the warm temperate was common because of the location of the kitchen in the restaurant.

Came highly recommended by family and I can honestly say it did not disappoint. Had a large family for our table and we were well taken care of throughout. It would have been easy for our server and his support staff to have forgotten about us and allowed our drinks to be empty, gone without napkins or not have ensured our whole group was cared for, BUT that did not happen. All of our group was happy and I can say it is a location I would be comfortable returning to when I am in Corpus visiting family.

Food was for the most, made from scratch. I do like this place. Very home like when it come to the feel. Good selection of food. American burger to Mexican, to grilled quail. Very agreeable prices. The bread pudding, chocolate cream pie, coconut cream pie and cobblers are all made in house. And they are all good. Only thing I would change is the technique and twerk the recipe for the cream gravy. I like a real country cream gravy made with heavy cream and half and half. They do put nutmeg in gravy and you notice the sweetness of it in the gravy. We will come back. Give the staff and Sam Shivers an opportunity. Mr. Shivers is there and is always will to help you. Simply need to ask. Dont be a jerk and act all high and mighty. Your not. Enjoy the food and experience.

A friend brought my daughter and I soup. I didn t know what to expect. It was two 8oz to go cups filled with soup, wrapped in plastic wrap. Looked like a basic to go cup of soup. I didn t know what soup was inside, or where it came from. It was a mystery to say the least. When I sat down and unwrapped it, and took the lid off, the smell was nice, it looked thick and wholesome, it wasn t until I stuck a spoon in and mixed it around that I realized it was chicken and dumplings. I took a bite, and let me tell you what, it was the best tasting chicken and dumplings I ve ever had in my 25 years of life on this earth. It was creamy, the chicken was so tender, the dumplings weren t too big or small, or chewy. All of the veggies inside were cooked perfectly. I could tell it was cooked long and slow. The flavor was the best part of it. It tastes so darn good. I asked her where she had gotten it, and she told me. Now I understand why everyone recommends this restaurant. I can t speak about the atmosphere of the restaurant, or the other food items on the menu, but I will say if you enjoy chicken and dumplings, I personally recommend you try out theirs. So yummy!

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! We drove into Corpus to eat here on October 24, 2019. When I tried to scoot my chair closer to the table, my finger got smashed between the chair seat and the iron chair frame. The seat was not securely attached to the chair frame. I ended up in the ER, to have a hole drilled in my fingernail to relieve the pain and pressure from the bleeding under the nail. My nail is still black, today. At the time of the accident, I was informed that they had recently had the chairs recovered. I was assured they would get the seat secured on that chair. We went back, for the first time since the accident, last night. I began checking chair seats, to avoid another injury. I found 2 that were loose, and one nearly came off in my hands because it was not secured in the front. That was either the same chair that I was injured with, that they never bothered to fix, or they have more like it their establishment. I do not feel they have their customers safety as a priority.

Servers were good considering was with a large party but cook need to learn how to cook a stake, some at my table stated food couldve been better so over all was not a great first experience with food but like i said servers were good.

Great food in more than generous servings. I think the average of the clientele must have been 65. Service was excellent even though the place was full. Reasonable prices, big portions,good service.
