When you drop in at La Costenita Mexican Restaurant, and its on a Thursday, request their special: Chicken Fried Fajitas, chips & cheese queso, rice, fries, and salad. The owner, Dora Ponce, and her daughter Kaitlyn, always greet you with a smile, as well as all the staff who serve, treating their customers very well. My waitress, Silvia, was attentive and helped me with whatever I needed, and even helped me order an extra Fajitas plate to take home to my wife. The place is not very clean but the zason is delicious to eat. The shrimp broth has too many vegetables but the zason is good. The atmosphere is familiar. Vegetarian options: grilled steak grilled shrimps lettuce salad avocado. grilled chicken breast. Parking: good location near the express

Delicious food for more than reasonable prices! The restaurant walls are super cute inside too. I had the Diablitos Rancheros - bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with jalapeno and cheese, rice, beans, and lettuce. Portion was generous for a great price, and the dish came out looking as advertised on the menu!

The young lady working the counter was very nice, smiled the whole time, very courteous and polite. The food was decent, but small, and the beans were so watery you had to eat them with a spoon, which was also difficult because they had way too much oil in them. The young lady forgot to pack my bread and forgot to give us napkins, and gave us only two ketchup packets for two people and two plates. They also should do something about the many people loitering in the parking lot, it is private property and they should be more aggressive about the solicitors. Walking in we were harassed and walking out we were harassed. If they cant control the riff raff, we wont be going back.

Pros: great seafood plates, great Texmex food, great in house made salsas and home made tortillas. Their coffee was very good too. Cons: Seems dirty (I saw a small roach crawl up one of the walls), the bathroom plumbing seems strange, and the service was a bit slow at checking up on you to see if you needed anything. Overall, its a great hole in the wall place to grab a bite to eat and have some great Texmex food. I ordered the Mexican Plate and wasnt dissatisfied. Ive included a pic of it for reference.

From the gorditas to the shrimp diablo you cant go wrong at this friendly Leopard St. eatery. I believe the name La Costenita translates to little beach girl. Started eating here about 15 years ago and since then La Costenita has become my favorite Mexican food restaurant. The beer is cold, the salsa is excellent, the menudo is perfect, the other menu items are exceptional and the servers are so charming. After a hard day on refinery row I am drawn to this place hot, tired, thirsty and starving. They have yet to disappoint me
