If anyone who has worked here last year and are wondering how to go about getting your w-2s or your last paychecks just go to workforce commission online and file a complaint through them. I know many of us have tried to get a hold of Scott through messages and phone calls with no response.

Voodoo grille is for the most part, an outward visually upscale restaurant. The interior is well designed and appealing, giving you the sensation of grandeur. Employees are very friendly and attentive, although the restaurant has only been open for about a month, it has not had time to settle in and be prepared for customers. We went with the intention of ordering their oysters but they had none, a key feature of there appetizers and they had not one to sell. We settled on ordering the fried green tower, which ended up being 3 cornbread battered deep fried slices of green tomatoes, and 2 small crab cakes, cost of $21 for about $5 worth of appetizers, way over priced for the little you get. As far as taste, the crab cakes were over salted and bland, the green tomatoes were way too crunchy and very tough to bite into, which suggested they were over cooked. For our entrees, we ordered the shrimp courtboullion plus shrimp & grits, although the shrimp and grits were tasty, the shrimp courtboulion was too salty and the shrimp was rubbery, in addition to this, both dishes had the tails still on the shrimp s, and no tail was properly cleaned, all of them had a blackness muddy flavor since they only deveined the shrimp to the edge of the tail and not completely, so every shrimp still had they waste vein on them. Finally we tried the signature home made beignets, they are tasty, but i really wouldn t consider them a beignet, more like fluffy flower bread cakes, but they are still good. As far as drinks, you have the choice of iced tap water or alcohol, so we stuck with the tap water on the rocks, considering we do not drink alcohol. The restaurant has room to grow, they are not really family friendly, and they are trying to cater and attract crowds with deeper pockets, unfortunately they do not have the quality of food or options to fit for what they are trying for, you can t charge an arm and a leg for next to nothing in quality or quantity, I m afraid they won t last through a year if they do not restructure their prices or change the amount of food they give for the prices they charge. Both shrimp dishes should have been properly cleaned with the tails removed and fully deveined, unfortunately my girlfriend ended up in the restroom 5 times before she could lay down to rest because of the issues she had from the shrimp when they finally hit her. See the photos for what the place and food looked like, i wouldn t recommend coming to voodoo grille until they either change the food or adjust their prices to match what they serve. ================================== Answer to Restaurant Response: R: Gulf Oysters were vastly unavailable and our server stated that she communicated that to you. A: she did not communicate that to us, she said you ran out of them earlier in the week, she did not give you the correct response R: Our shrimp are deveined and properly cleaned. Again, we approached your table multiple times and this was never brought to our attention. The shrimp were not returned to the kitchen and all were consumed, so we were unaware of any issues. A: Incorrect, I didnt eat any of mine, all of them were still on the dish as they were given to me and none of them were properly deveined, they still had the vein in the tail from the shell down which was black and that i pointed out to the waitress. R: As far as drinks, we have iced filtered water, both still & sparkling bottled water, 8 soft drink options, bottled root beer, tea & coffee..... (etc) A: Incorrect, we were informed by our waitress that the only thing you had was alcohol and tap water, so we opted for the tap water, we were given no options for soft drinks or fresh water. R: Insinuating that we somehow caused an illness for your girlfriend is surprising. A: she got sick from consuming your food, in this case was the shrimp and grits Overall, all of your answers give the impression that the customer was wrong in everything stated in the review, when in fact, everything in the review is accurate, I am grateful you took the time to respond.

I went to Voodoo grille with my family for a Cajun steak house experience. The place was cozy and the service was friendly. The food was pretty good, but not mind-blowing. We had the Crabmeat Au Gratin, which was creamy and cheesy, but not very crabby. The wedge salad was crisp and fresh, but nothing to write home about. The Prime Ribeye was tender and juicy, but a bit too fatty for my liking. The Stuffed Chicken Thighs were flavorful and moist, but a bit too small for the price. The Dry Aged Pork Ribeye was smoky and succulent, but a bit too dry for my taste. The kid had Mac and cheese, which she loved, but then again, she loves anything with cheese. We had 3 or 4 alcoholic drinks that were all pretty decent, but not very strong. The bill came to about $270, which I thought was a bit steep for what we got. I guess you pay for the voodoo magic they put in their food. Overall, it was a nice meal, but not something I would do every week. Maybe once in a blue moon, when I feel like splurging and getting a little spicy. Voodoo Grille is a good place to go if you want to try something different and have some fun, but dont expect to be blown away by the food or the value.

We ate here for our rare no kids date night. The atmosphere here is definitely the highlight. We had the crab cake first. We do this at every Louisiana restaurant we go to. I can tell you that VG s crab cakes are on par with the best that Cajun country has to offer. We also do this with corn and crab bisque but it wasn t on the soup menu. Maybe next time. For the main course we split the blackened red fish to save room for Dessert. We chose the Brussel sprouts and corn grits. All were delicious and we made a happy plate. (Clean plate) We chose the chocolate moose for dessert with coffee latte. My wife wanted to lick the dessert dish but then she regained her composure. All in all a great experience and much to look forward to on a future visit.

Salmon was good but they forgot to serve it with angel hair pasta. The side of brussel sprouts had good flavor but very undercooked. The waiter didnt check on us until my meal was finished. He brought out pasta after I was finished. When he brought pasta my water glass was empty and never asked if I wanted more. Another waiter asked if he could clear our plates but didnt ask if we needed a water refill and my water glass had been empty my entire meal. My husband liked his crawfish ettoufee. We will go back despite the few issues.

So - where to begin. How about a positive! Our server was great. Cant fault her a bit for the days happenings. Wed been excited to try VG for a while now. Great concept, menu and media have always looked outstanding. Popped in today for lunch and at the very best, we were incredibly underwhelmed, and at worst - some things were downright atrocious. Course 1 - Apps. 6 raw oysters, 6 chargrilled Voodoo style. I posted a picture of the oysters only - and quite honestly we should have bailed when they came out as they did. Broken shells are an absolute no go. Choking hazard, broken teeth, etc. As if that wasnt enough - NONE of them were shucked even slightly. As usual, thankfully I carry a pocket knife. The chargrilled were lightly cooked at best. As I write this with the uneasiness in my stomach wondering if Ill end up with food poisoning (which would be exceedingly rare for me, I have a stomach like a Billy goat) - not entirely sure of their freshness, but edible. (however, should I become sick, Ill be notifying the MCHD) Moving on. Salad course - dumpster fire. Rotten lettuce on the Bosc pear salad. Rejected. Main course: I had the shrimp tacos. Corn tortillas were well fried. Cabbage slaw to shrimp ratio was a bit excessive, but edible. Our sons chicken tenders had a piece in them that was tougher than any chicken strip Ive ever encountered. These were removed from the bill. Mostly edible. Wife had a fried shrimp poboy. The cornmeal batter was really thick and a bit too crunchy. She was so freaked by the salad she ended up not eating hers. (Smart move. Shell probably avoid any gastrointestinal unpleasantness like yours truly). We were the only party seated in the dining room when we walked in and the courses took F O R E V E R to make it to table. I could easily overlook the times if the food had been pristine. More than happy to do so. Alas, here we are.. All this is capped with the interaction we had with who we were told initially was the manager - who as it turns out is the owner and proprietor. Not sure how long my dude has been in the service and hospitality industry, but a tableside convo after being notified that rotten lettuce got served in your establishment might start with something more than can I get you anything else?! Scott, I GENUINELY hope you can get a handle on things and turn it around. I mean it sincerely. Unfortunately, well not be back to find out whether it has or has not. Not ever. 2/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND

We went today after work with friends. First of all at 4:01 when our server finally made it to us. lunch time was over so we couldn t order anything from lunch menu. We didn t point out that we walked in 5/6 minutes ago. I didn t appreciate it that literally 2 minutes later nope you can t order from that. Our server was very blunt. He brought out the bread 2 pieces of break. I started to eat it and realized my plate was extremely dirty. Visible freeze marks and even some black crumbs or something around the edges. We tried to order tropical storm drink and they didn t have the rum so they couldn t make it. We ordered the cleanse something drink. It had gin and some syrups and seemed close to lemon drop kind, it tasted like robotussin! Not exaggerating! It was disgusting! Next came our order of Bleu Cheese wedge salad, Cesar salad, fried tomato tower and fries. Fries were probably the best part of the order. My wedge salad seems soggy and old. Like when I ve been starts to rot and it turns soft and weird. The bleu cheese dressing was so liquidy that I could not get it on the salad at all. It was dropping everywhere. Literally a forty wedge of iceberg floating in milk and 5 halves of tomatoes for $10. I was beyond disappointed! This place needs to up their game and service very very fast to retain customers. I would not be taking the risk again.

Waiter was very nice. 200 dollar meal which was subpar. I really hope they do something with the feedback as it appears to be a common theme. With the surrounding and great neighborhoods such a shame this place should be crowded. We should have known when we walked in. I was so excited but so let down. Mashed potatoes are plain and even if the are not instant it absolutely tastes like that. Steak was over done but corrected. Veggies too raw and had an awful after taste. The crab au gratin was mush. Would not at this time recommend.

Disappointing food, way overpriced. This place is not going to make it. It s no wonder that every time we ve walked by there s barely four tables sat in the dining room. A Cajun Steakhouse sounded like a wonderful concept. Considering we were blown away by the Mediterranean place a few doors down, we had high expectations for this place. 1. The baked oysters were $36 for a dozen and fine. Nothing to write home about. Nothing unique. Nothing that says, WOW! That was worth it! 2. They messed up my $32 pork chop. They say it s dry aged, but it s clearly not. There s a certain funk and texture that comes with dry-aged meat this did not have. The voodoo truffle fries were a soggy mess and a $5 up charge. The Brussels sprouts were fine but they were $10. The best thing about the meal was the chocolate mousse dessert. 4 domestic beers, 1 adult sprite (for my 4 year old son), a pear and pecan salad and the other items mentioned above. It was $135 before tax and tip, hate to say it, but we ll be dining elsewhere. At those prices we can have a mind blowing meal at Tris or head a few doors down and eat at that delicious Mediterranean place. Gave 2 stars because the food was still decent and one extra star for ambiance. Note: I am writing this on behalf of my husband since he doesn t write reviews. Everything I ve written is what he told me as soon as he left the restaurant. In the 9 years we ve been together, he s never called me immediately after a meal. Especially not when he s only 10 minutes from home. First he sends me a picture of the receipt and says, Lame. Then proceeds to call me and share how disappointed he was in the restaurant he picked out to treat his dad to. We just discovered this place a couple of weeks ago and had been looking forward to trying it. My husband is a massive foodie and a former chef/restaurant manager, he was so disappointed at the missed opportunities here.

The atmosphere is modern, elegant, mystical, and stylish. I love the hints of Cajun decor. Our waiter and waitress in training were both very amicable people that came off like good friends. The meat was cooked perfect pink and tender inside with a crisp outside. The menu has everything you d like to try like Shrimp & Grits. We had the bread pudding for desert and BABEY, the sauce with it was good enough to eat by itself. So delicious. Overall we enjoyed our date night here. There were some families dining too and had a mix of casual dress and formal. I wouldn t be too shy of just showing up to have a drink. The Witch doctor drink has a powder that makes your mouth tingle, I recommend trying it. Next time we return I look forward to trying the Voodoo queen drink.

Our server was attentive and eager to ensure we enjoyed our experience. Sadly, the kitchen was out of shrimp, chicken and flounder on a Friday night. How disappointing! I was looking forward to trying the BBQ shrimp or the shrimp and grits, but could not. We decided to try their chargrilled oysters and raw oysters instead. They were extremely small; you could barely see them in the shell. Ive never seen oysters that small in my life. Overall, it looks like it could be a nice restaurant; sadly we couldnt try the items we wanted to because they were out of so many items. After paying for those little oysters, we headed to another seafood restaurant to actually eat dinner.

I have never written a review before and had to wait a couple of weeks to calm down. There were 6 of us who dined for a special occasion, and it was ruined. We sat down and tried to order oysters. We were promptly told they were out of that, and then she began to rattle off six other things they did not have. She commented that they had a busy night before and had no apology. We then ordered another appetizer, and they were good even though we waited about 35 minutes for the appetizers and drinks. The server ignored us, and I had to ask for a Diet Coke three times. Everyone else had cocktails. My son then showed us his water glass that had lipstick on it. She did bring him another one. We ordered our meals with no changes. Fifty minutes later, I flagged her down and asked if they were coming, and she said yes. We waited another fifteen minutes, and they finally arrived. The entrees were good, not 60 dollars good. My husband, who has run restaurants for 35 years, commented that they would not be open for a year if they do not hire a restaurant consultant. Here are my takeaways for the owner from two people that are in the service business. Hire a restaurant consultant because you need one badly. Second, if you are going to charge Killens and Perrys prices, train your staff as they do. You have people who should not be running a fast food place counter waiting at your tables where you are trying to get high-end prices. Hire some secret shoppers. You need someone to order better, so you do not run out of 1/2 of your menu items before the weekend. There are significant issues from the front of the house to the back. The server knew we were upset and never got a manager, nor did we ever see a manager. If I had been the server, I would have gotten the manager after the lipstick issue. There is potential but will need some big changes and commitment to get there. We will be at Hodge Podge Lodge or the Woodlands next time. Good luck! You need it!

I was not impressed and shocked at the prices. Our server failed to say an Entree of salmon didn t come with any sides. $34 for a piece of salmon. Yeah. Same piece you can get for $9 at H E B. I mean rice and steamed vegetables are not very expensive but to say you need to purchase each a la carte for another $13-19 is crazy. The fact that there is a back bar that is way less formal, almost like where the staff hang out, is the same overpriced experience but where we all saw a guy sitting in a tshirt at the bar. I don t care but that is not fine dining for me. Red beans and rice were way too salty they had to be sent back. My shrimp and grits was mediocre to good at best because the shrimp were so small definitely not extra large gulf shrimp . Cocktails were all good but also overpriced for the back bar experience. I saw one comment about lazy staff, I wouldn t say lazy, I d say untrained or entry level staff as compared to other fine dining establishments.

The crab au gratin is not smooth and creamy. The texture is grainy. I old not order it again.

Your prices are absolutely insane, youre charging $18 for a po boy a sandwich which has historically always been meant to be super dirt cheap, has your owner lost their mind? Conroe is a low-income City this is not the woodlands or some Midwestern gentrified City, 90% of the residents who live in Conroe cannot afford your prices, $4 for a bag of chips? $25 for baked chicken? And youre charging $32 for shrimp and grits and cant even devein the shrimp or remove the tails?!Where has your sense gone? Because I visited Louisiana multiple times and the only places Ive ever discovered with prices like this are in tourist traps, Conroe is not a tourist trap.

Wont eat here again, the grits in the shrimp and grits dish was more of a mush. The risotto was not made with the proper grain for risotto, it was a mush also. Staff was great and hard working though. The food we were served was way overpriced for the quality of dishes that was served.

Dont waste your money. $200 w/o tip for dinner for 2. You would expect for that kind of $ that it would be a great experience. It was not enjoyable and not worth the money. Description on-line states upscale dining experience. Restaurant is in a strip mall and looks like it has not been completed. Sat in bar and had a waitress that obviously did not know what she was doing. Ordered a Becks beer and was told that the beer was hot but that they were going to put one on ice but I could have a cold glass with it. 20 minutes later after the appetizer was served I was served my beer. Ordered the filet medium and it came out raw. Whipped potatoes were cold. I asked for extra butter when I ordered the potatoes and never got any. Had to ask for silverware, napkins, salt, pepper. Waitress never came back to check on us. When she finally showed up and saw the raw steak that I could not eat, she offered a new one. At this point I did not want to take steak and put it in my car. Offered the Crème Brule because my filet was so undercooked and was informed 25 minutes later that they were out. Waitress said she would let Scott know. I have no idea who Scott is because I never saw anyone. Spent an hour and a half for dinner that was not worth $100 a person. For the money, there are plenty of steak houses in The Woodlands that do a much better job.

Great atmosphere and service!! Since this a new establishment, it is my hope that review writers take that into consideration when writing a review! The staff was very accommodating and welcoming. I sat at the bar and studied the liquor selection. It is top notch, especially if you enjoy great cocktails, and I do! To be a new business/restaurant, I was impressed!

The food - oysters, Brussels, spinach, and oh, my word the Voodoo Fries fried in duck fat and topped with truffle ... to die for! The cocktails are divine, and the service provided by Isaiah, Trevor, and Austin was absolutely amazing! Five stars isnt enough!

Visited last night to have a nosh and cocktail, the steak is excellent and on par with any fine steak house you will find in Houston. Black roux gumbo is on point and very true to the Owners Louisiana roots. Isiah at the bar provided exceptional service and old fashioned old fashioned - side note, they have an excellent bourbon selection

Wanted to be wowed but wasn t Service slow despite few clientele - waited 40 mins for food with no offer of bread or refreshing drinks. First two menu options ( plus desert choice later) they were out of. Food was fairly tasty when it arrived We live and work closely to restaurant , hoped to give them good reviews at work but not able to yet Hoped that the owner would spare us a few words or at least ask how our meal was but he was too engrossed with another party. I had hope to promote the restaurant at work and take some business cards but we will wait 6 months to see if things improve first Spent over $100 for one course and 2 Alcoholic drinks Parking: Good parking availability

A restaurant conroe has needed for a long time. Save your drive to the Woodlands. Tasteful New Orleans decor and feel. Really friendly and prompt service and great food. Only rated 4 stars because they were out of multiple menu items. Enjoy!

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The ambience is perfect, the décor is styled with attention to detail in all the furnishings, lighting, and fixtures, reminiscent of vintage New Orleans style and atmosphere. The food and drinks were exceptional. My drink of choice was the Heavens Door Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned, which was crafted superbly. I had the VooDoo Filet for my main course with a fried oyster with bearnaise, cooked to perfection. The desserts were delicious, my favorite being the bread pudding with pecan rum sauce. We took our time and dined in the main dining room for nearly two hours and received excellent service. I cannot wait to return and am excited to share this unique Conroe dining experience with friends and family.

An amazing dining experience! The atmosphere in the main and private dining room room has exquisite attention to detail inviting you to take a closer look at the elevated décor. The staff graciously welcomed and easily accommodated our large party with specialty cocktails and appetizers - let me suggest the BBQ shrimp and the Fried Green Tomato Tower! The menu has variety to please any palate with a special nod to South Louisiana with their cajun-inspired flare. We tasted duck and andouille gumbo, filet, NY Strip, Laha AC, Blackened Redfish, Tuna, Shrimp & Grits, and Crabmeat Au Gratin - everyone had a tasting plate shared by our party. Every dish was delectable and prepared to perfection! Make sure to complete your experience with coffee and dessert - Bread Pudding with pecan rum sauce was our favorite!

Finally we were able to visit Voodoo Grille and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, the space took our breath away. Our drinks came out fast and so delish: we got a glass of Pinot Grigio and The Witch Doctor, super recomended, ginger simple syrup, tequila and citrus juices. Appetizer was BBQ Shrimp served with a warm butter biscuit that was devoured by the boys. Entres were Redfish, Salmon with Beurre Blanc, loaded Mac and cheese, and shrimp and grits. Everything was delish and fresh. Dessert, bread pudding with butterscotch pecan sauce. So good! The team was so warm and welcome, we had a great time and will be back soon. Thank you for an amazing evening.

Our second visit to VooDoo Grille - what an amazing place for dinner and/or drinks! Our first visit we sat in the beautiful dining room and had steak cooked to perfection, juicy and tender pork loin - so good!. This time we sat in the bar with three big television screens for all the games - Soft shell crab was perfect, the pear salad delectable - you can tell the quality of the food, it all tastes amazing. Staff is very professional, warm, and takes great care of their guests. I cant say enough about this restaurant. This will be our new dining spot!

Grabbed a coveted rez during their soft opening and was not disappointed! The atmosphere is inviting, the music is well selected and the food and drink were delicious! We started with the fried green tomato tower, enjoyed roasted red pepper and wild mushroom bisque, devoured the salmon caper buerre blanc and capped the meal with signature beignets. My husband ordered the Pear & Pecan Salad and has already informed me that we will be returning for that, specifically. He also ordered the Prime Ribeye and it was so tender and cooked to the perfect temperature. Highly recommend a visit, its worth it!
